Narrowing her eyes at him, she frowned amused. “ Ah, how I missed your sarcasm. Thank you for my daily dose Mr. McScrooge.” she finished rolling her eyes. Her expression quickly softening as she came to stand by him, she had been wondering when she would see him. If he had heard but that was a stupid thing to ask. Of course he had, he had been Roman’s right hand for as long as she had been on the Trident and some. When Roman had offered her the position the first person she wanted to tell was Alex. Zyra had question, worries…fears. However, after the event of the Ukrainian princess death. Zyra assumed that he probably was going through his own shit. There had been moment there where, it looked as if the princess might have been been able to end him.
“ It was only a matter of time,” she shrugged chuckling a bit as she hip checked him. “ -and you loved it. Why else would you let me decorate the ship ever year if you didn’t” she chuckled. She was silent as she took it all in for a moment, though tonight was her last night as navigator, it was sinking in that she was the first mate of Black Trident. It was a position that she had always wanted but she never thought it would be on BT, on one of the smaller ships sure but not here. “ Is it weird, not being Trident’s first mate? Because it’s very surreal for me right now.”
“I don’t see the point in the festivities. Why celebrate death? It’s not an achievement, it’s just the end.” Alex had never been one for Halloween, dressing up, knocking on people’s door to beg for treats. It just seemed ridiculous and pointless. But he wouldn’t deny Zyra and the others the fun, there was no point in the argument. Plus there was something about seeing the delight on the woman’s face when the lights were first lit.
The corner of his lips turned up and Alex faced Zyra, his thumbs hooking in his belt. “I served my time on this ship, it was time for something new.” He spoke simply. It hadn’t mattered for him, when Roman told him he was moving to Neptune’s Rage. Belle needed someone strong to stand by her side and there hadn’t been anyone else that he trusted enough for the job. Jacob had his own ship as well as Roman’s brother in law. The obvious choice had been Alex and he had never questioned the decision.
The Black Trident had been left in more than capable hands with the crew that Alex had left behind. “You were the perfect choice, Z. Don’t question it. You will do good.” Alex didn’t tell her about how he had been the one to put her name forward, he didn’t need the praise or her gratitude. It hadn’t been a question for Alex. Roman needed a first mate and Zyra had proved her worth in many situations over and over again. “I trust you.”

Days had all slid into one back then, but he knew how long he had been away for with no communication to the island. He'd kept his phone for one phone call to Roman, after that he had destroyed it. Not willing to risk the chance of being traced. Asides from his crew, there had been a select few other people Alex had kept in mind. Zyra being one of the important ones. The moment after he had returned to the island and seen Belle, she had been the next person on his list. And it hasn't been hard to track her down.
Alex crouched down on his haunches, a smile curving on his lips as he picked up Zyra's things. "You seem like you're in a hurry there, darling." He spoke as if he hadn't been gone for ages, stuck in no man's land with not much signs to getting out alive. Sand littered the papers, Alex brushed it all off the best he could before standing up and taking the bag from her. He hauled it over his shoulder, gathered the books in his arms and nodding his head in the direction of the docks. "C'mon, Z. Show me what you're working on. Also, I need you to rig me up a new phone. Mine is gone."
Zyra hurriedly made her down the docks. Her arms were full of books and a bag filled with some maps and computer parts that she had finally got from the last supply run. She had been so distracted with…things, that she had let some of her work fall by the way side and so; she had dedicated her day with getting herself reorganized. The black trident need to be outfitted with her new navigation system. A project that could not be done without her first putting the proper schematics and updates into the system first. Zyra longed for the days were she could just be out at sea. If she was being honest she needed the distraction. And right on cure, Zyra seemingly lost her footing causing her to trip and the contents in her arm to spill out onto the beach.
“Shit!” with an exacerbated sigh, she roughly began to retrieve her things from the sand. When another pair of hands appeared Zyra looked up an appreciative smile on her face, “I’m normally not this clumsy,”

Alex stared at Zyra incredulously, watching her eye up a plank and not entirely putting it past her to pick it up and whack him across the face with it. "Jock?" Alex raised an eyebrow, a smile crossing his lips as she hit him in the chest, not even budging the man. "I'm getting you a new insult book for Christmas Z." He informed her in amusement, carrying the planks to the pile and tossing them on there. "I'm okay, it was just a little storm. My phone died days ago, I haven't had a chance to charge it yet."
Alex exhaled in frustration, his hands linked together on top of his head as he surveyed the damaged done to the docks with a pained look. The ships were okay, so far his eyes could tell. Crew walked around on them, bellowing orders and cleaning up the rubble that the storm had left. Alex held his hand up in a goodbye to those on the Trident, walking down the docks to help out at the Tulach House. It was the building that needed the most work doing to it. Alex had already sent word for someone to check out his villa, the only things of importance there being a necklace in a jewlery box, his phone charger, laptop and paperwork and the report had come back that all those things were absolutely fine. He threw himself into the work immediately, hauling anything burnable away to toss on the pile ready to set alight. Alex heaved a few planks on one shoulder, his shirt long discarded under the burning heat of the sun, glancing about before beckoning the person closest to him. “You. Load up my other shoulder for me.”

Even as annoyed as she was with him, she couldn’t help that the corners of her lips turned up into a grin. It was hard for her to stay mad or annoyed at him for very long but she wasn’t about to go easy on him. “ Good, I’ll make sure to use the really nasty ones on you,” she said sticking out her tongue at him. “ I’ll have to remember to get you a power bank for Christmas old man, I don’t like worrying about you.” she grumbled. lifting her hand she looked back towards the Tulach house, it really was in bad shape. “ Now that we have established that you are alive and the proper protocol to take during tropical storm,” she looked back towards him nodding her head to the house, “ How long to do you think this is going to take?”
Alex sighed topic was brought back to the Tulach House. He straightened, his hands folding over his chest as he surveyed the scene before him. It was a complete mess. "A good few weeks. Especially as we're going to have to send some ships out for supply runs. That's going to put a dent in workers available." Alex said as he rummaged in the inside pocket of his jacket, pulling out his old fashioned nokia phone. "Darling, this phone doesn't need a power bank. I charged it over three weeks ago and it lasted me until midway through last week."
