“Why North? I thought we were taking this to Thunderhead?” Shawrun wondered, glancing over at the dour-faced Asura, who rode on the side of the wagon nearer to him.

“We are,” Zypp grumbled, “But between a spectacularly short-sighted set of design criteria and a similarly myopic determination to cut costs, the ramp that bridges our way down to the beach in the proper direction is both of insufficient width and of a design which threatens collapse when insufficiently distributed weights attempt traversal. Adequate for troops, but their supplies. So, thanks to that monumental oversight, we have to divert to the north, take the natural and increasingly badly worn path down to the beach, as you can see up ahead. Then we circle south again, having spent all of this time and effort just to wind up going beneath the very bridge we exited from.”

“When I signed up, they never told me I’d spend my entire deployment staring at the north end of south-bound Dolyaks, and listening to a third,”  Wightman sighed. “No, they promised glory and triumph!”

“And you fell for it! Who’s the dolyak here? Your gullibility in the face of clearly absurd recruitment inducements and your own farcical dreams...”

the Felle twins, Zypp and Cayd 👽✨👽

Zypp is the older twin and absolute ray of sunshine. Despite their cheery demeanor, they’re the commander of the planet’s space fleet, and his pilots respect them immensely as they quite the formidable leader. Since the Star Council is in peacetime, they mainly carry out diplomatic missions with Aster these days.

Cayd the younger is quieter, more serious twin. He holds a surgeon general type of position on the planet and is pretty much married to his work. Cayd reports on the public health of the planet’s citizens to the Northern and Southern state-heads, and to Aster. He also has a very thinly veiled crush on the star prince…
