Proposal
This was requested by a lovely anon and who actually made a bad day, a lot less stressful. Thank you, whoever you are, and I hope this is what you wanted when you sent in your request x
Proposal
Zendaya didn’t know where she was; the letter Val had left her had only specified some cryptic instructions.
‘Get in your car and follow the directions programmed into your GPS. Love you, Val.’
Oddly, Zendaya seemed to recognise the streets that she passed but she couldn’t pinpoint where exactly she was. Darkness had settled over the streets of Los Angeles and the further she drove, the more the streets seemed to blur together.
According to her GPS, her destination was to her left. Zendaya rose out of her car, her hand instinctively resting upon her bump. She paused to adoringly circle her protruding stomach with her hand before proceeding towards the door of the home. Her baby girl kicked in response to her mother’s attention and Zendaya couldn’t help but let her body explode with this immense feeling of love. She had just surpassed her seven-month date and she was ecstatic to finally hold her baby, their daughter, in her arms. If it were possible, the smile on Zendaya’s lips stretched wider as she took in the sight of the place she was walking up to. It was a suburban home; cute and quiet. A white picket fence circled the property, caging in foliage in all hues of green. A few fairy lights dotted the bushes, igniting the feel of magic in the peacefully still location.
There was another letter tapped to the front door.
‘Use the key in this envelope to let yourself in. Follow the path directed’
Zendaya’s mind was curious as to what Val was up to and she eagerly opened the door. The first thing that hit her was the smell. Earlier on in her pregnancy, any sort of pungent smell was enough to get her on her knees beside a toilet. However, as the baby progressed, Zendaya’s morning sickness became less frequent. Now, Zendaya had a certain appreciation for the smell of cinnamon flavoured candles and fresh flowers; stems forming the outlines of a path. An excitement coiled deep within her and she didn’t even have time to register the things around her. Her eyes were fixated on her feet as she followed the winding path to patio doors – another letter.
‘Do you know what today is?’
As Zendaya read the letter, Val’s deep voice reiterated what it said. His voice was husky and she jumped slightly, startled by his sudden presence. Her eyes travelled upwards leisurely, taking in the glorious sight of him. He looked impeccable; a shirt, pants, boat shoes, preened hair. Once her hazel eyes paused on his face, she admired that lop-sided smirk that was prevalent across his features. “Do you?” A pause. “Know what today is?”
“Fri .. day?” Zendaya chuckled dryly, her legs instinctively moving towards where Val was stood. It was like a magnetic pull, she could never get enough of him.
“No,” Val had a laugh of his own, his lips pressing gently against Zendaya’s in the most intimate of gestures. “Our anniversary.” Val whispered in her ear, his breathe blowing at short wisps of her hair.
“I think you’re delusional.” Zendaya smacked him on the chest playfully. She had had bouts of pregnancy brain but she was aware enough to know that her and Val’s anniversary was Christmas Eve. They had finally – finally - confessed their feelings to one another after two years of ‘what ifs’ and ‘maybes’ and that was six years ago.
“No, no.” Val grasped Zendaya’s hands within his own as he took a small step backwards. The step allowed him to look at her more; deeply, lovingly. She was perfection, she nailed it every time. Today she stood before him looking just as beautiful as she had years ago, in this exact same spot. “It’s been eight years since you waltzed into my life, literally. Eight perfect years.” Val’s eyes fluttered closed as he reminisced on his time with his Z. She had changed his world. She had picked it up and thrown him into this whirlwind and he had been exceptionally grateful. She made him happy. She made him a friend, a lover … a father. “I met you here, in this very spot.”
“What?” Zendaya stuttered, looking about, her surroundings unfamiliar.
“The dance studio where we met got knocked down a few years back.” Val explained, his eyes glazing over with something unexpected. “They built houses in its place. This one was built over our studio, the studio where I fell in love with you.”
“Val-“ The tears sprung to her eyes instantaneously. Zendaya was lost for words. Her mouth opened and closed yet nothing came out. She couldn’t believe that Val had pulled something like this off. The notion was so unbelievably romantic, her heart surged straight into her rib cage.
“This particular studio meant a lot to me.” Val explained, his thumb tracing small circles onto the back of her hand, the tingles arising between the both of them. “It let me do the thing I loved beside the woman that I loved and that, in my mind, was priceless.” Val leaned in to peck Zendaya’s cheek before he pulled something out of his pocket – keys, house keys. “Now, this spot is going to house the family that I love.”
“Val.” Zendaya’s tone was laced with warning, urging him not to mess with her. He couldn’t have bought this house, right? “You didn’t.” Val simply handed her the keys as an answer. But, there was more attached to the set of keys … much, much more. “Val.” Now Zendaya’s tears were full-fledged. There were streams running down her face and Val couldn’t help but let his face brighten.
“Zendaya Maree Coleman,” Zendaya couldn’t see much with the briny water blocking her vision but at this stage, Val was on one knee. The smile was impossible to get of his face. “Marry me?” It was barely a whisper and Zendaya hiccupped. The set of keys had a silver ring attached to it. A key that was all too familiar to both Zendaya and Val – Larissa Chmerkovskiy’s engagement ring. “Make me the happiest man on the planet and marry me.”
Zendaya wasn’t sure if she was in the right state of mind to say any words and so she did the only thing that she could think of – she grabbed at Val’s face and kissed him, hard. Their lips moved against each other’s feverishly with a passion that was benign. Hands skimmed past arms, biceps, hips, hair … the two couldn’t stop touching one another. “Is that a yes?“ Val muttered the words against her mouth, their breathes and heartbeats simulatenously frantic as they pulled away to catch some air.
“Yes.”

Note
I'm feeling quite emotional about your Seb POV Gewis fic idea, as someone who's already been following F1 when Brocedes was still a thing and then became what it became. Seb always right there. God, his friendship with Lewis is probably the most special one on the grid, for many, many reasons and I absolutely love the idea of you incorporating it. I never actually shipped them, although they're the obvious and popular Lewis ship - and I absolutely get why, but their friendship means so much to me that it kind of stopped me from touching it in a romantic fanfic sense. I can't explain it, but it's very deeply rooted in my own F1 history, starting back when I didn't even read fanfiction... Idk. I did, however, ship Lewis with Val (still do) just like I enjoy indulging in Gewis and while I can't really see George/Val I am intrigued. You're amazing at writing smut, so I'm sure I'll go crazy and you'll convert me.
And you're contemplating writing for Singapore and Japan? That's amazing, both races felt very special for us Gewis shippers... some very good, memorable content. Do you have any specific ideas you're playing around with?
I’m really glad to hear the concept works for you, writing seb, heck writing ANYONE other than George and Lewis is a new and somewhat tough experience for me. Gewis comes easy because I spend a lot of time thinking about how they think about each other, how they feel when they react to new situations, and just, feeling alongside them. When they’re happy, I’m happy, when they’re sad, I’m sad.
I don’t quite have the same connection to seb, I don’t know as much about him, and while I can bother bads to tell me the technical history, sometimes writing a guy is something you have to figure out personally on your own. Because it’s a short fic idea it should at least move fast when I’m on a roll.
As for sewis or valwis etc, I’ve never shipped them exclusively because I am criminally mono shipper, I literally walked into F1 rpf, saw a gewis fic, and imprinted like a duckling.
I can say with 99% certainly I will never write a fic that doesn’t end with britcedes as the endgame. That doesn’t rule out poly or threesomes though, I’m a big fan of exploring ships of gewis + someone else, and that’s where the couple of Britcedes and Val ideas I’ve had came from. I just profoundly dislike reading things that don’t end with George and Lewis together, it honestly makes me feel sad!
I’ve also got ideas that involve George sleeping around with other people but he still ends with Lewis, because when I write about George I focus on exploring his relationship to his body and how that relates to other people. When I write Lewis I focus on how he is with his friends and family, how his status and skills effect his personal life, so I don’t tend to think about his past relationships, fuck boy au being the one exception because that’s all about him being the paddock top for casual sex and then catching feelings for a guy he won’t let himself have.
My skills with smut will be tested for you because I have a small scene of George/Val post imola 21’ in one of the above fics and while I’ve had trouble figuring out how to get them into bed (or rather, onto a hotel couch…), the smut was really fucking fun hahahah, and the post orgasm banter is one of my faves
Tumblr media
(For context, no Lewis doesn’t know they fucked it out lmao, and both Val and George sure as shit ain’t gonna tell him)
As for the Singapore and Japan fic, I haven’t got any concrete ideas yet, because if I do want to write for them I’ll have to finish ZV and Monza first. But I think I want to focus on George needing to be comforted for once? All his races this year were pretty spectacular (not including silverstone, that’s a special case) but both Singapore and Japan just sucked for him, for reasons mostly out of his control. I think id like to focus on how Lewis helps George get through those hard moments, how to handle guilt about wanting more vs accepting and moving on, because that’s where Lewis has experience.
George has experience scoring low at Williams but It’s a different beast to be in a race winning car and score low, there’s more to be conflicted about. He’s allowed to be mad at his team, but also they’ll be beating themselves up worse than him, and it’s moments like that that will define his leadership. Is he going to sulk like Max, or is he going to push them constructively for better. Thats what Lewis wants to guide him towards, not that George instinctively wants to do much different, but it’s helpful to have someone to talk to.

The Rest of You is Paradise - Chapter 10
Author's note: HELLOOOO! I am alive! I have NO clue if anyone remembers this story lol..I wouldn't blame you! It's been so damn long and this chapter has just been sitting on my computer. Life got hectic and then I had a major case of writer's block. If there is still any interest in the story I will try to finally complete it. If not, I'll see if I can come up with a new one for ya! Love you all. Best fandom ever.
Quick Synopsis:  Zendaya is visiting Hawaii for Ingo and Ehiku’s 10th Wedding anniversary - 6 years after DWTS Season 16 the entire cast is reunited for the occasion. Zendaya is engaged to Trevor Jackson and hasn’t seen Val in 4 years, since he kissed her, told her he loved her and left without a word on her 19th birthday! Trouble ensues!

AND NOW...CHAPTER 10:
Zendaya’s blood boils with anger as she anxiously fiddles with her silverware back at her table at the reception. Her mind races -- What an asshole! The nerve! He thinks that he can just swoop in and say a couple of sweet things..and then KISS me and everything will be just fine!
Zendaya let’s out a singular and audible “HA!” to herself while she drums her fingertips aggressively on the table. Her lips are still buzzing from where Val left his mark.
Maks timidly approaches Zendaya, he can hear her angrily muttering to herself.
“You okay sweetheart?”
Zendaya’s heart stops at the sound of a Russian accent. She’s relieved when she looks up to see that it’s only Maks. “I’m fine,” she huffs.
“Here, have some cake. It will make you feel better,” he says gingerly waving the cake under her nose. Her stomach growls at the sight of the dessert, she’s just now realizing how hungry she is. Plus sweets always make her feel better when she’s in distress. She accepts the cake offering and forces a half-smile at Maks. “Thank you, Maks.”
“Cake for your thoughts? What happened? I saw you and my little bro leave for a bit.”
“Nothing. We just went for a walk...” she says taking a bite of cake.
“It doesn’t seem like nothing. In fact you look really pissed off about something.”
She chews and swallows, “Maks...”she gives him a “c’mon” kind of look.
“Z, he’s gonna tell me anyway. You might as well just get it over with now and tell me what happened. Maybe I could help.”
Zendaya rolls her eyes and looks around before she says anything, making sure that no one is within earshot. “He kissed me” she whispers.
“FINALLY!” Maks says pounding a fist on the table causing the silverware to jump and clink.
Zendaya covers his hands with hers to stop him from drawing attention to them. “What do you mean finally! No! This is not a good thing! I’m engaged!” Zendaya hisses while pointing to the ring on her left hand, then collapses her head into her palms. Maks rubs her back.
“Well did the kiss mean anything?”
She hesitates before she becomes defensive, “Of..of course not!” She snorts and tries to laugh it off.
“Look Z, I’m not gonna say all that much because I’m pretty bias on the matter, and I know it will only upset you more. But you have to ask yourself...if the kiss didn’t mean anything..then why are you so upset?” With that, Maks stood from the table. Leaving Zendaya staring dumbfounded and sitting alone.
She avoids Val for the rest of the reception, choosing to spend her time with Aly and Mark, Wynona and Tony, Victor... pretty much anyone BUT Val. She drinks a lot. She wants to forget him. She knows that this is not the proper coping method, but its the only solution she knows will help her feel better in the immediate moment. She’s on her sixth glass of champagne, trying to wash the taste of Val out of her mouth. Yes, even though she admits to herself that he tasted delicious, sweeter than she ever remembered,  she’s sick of it lingering, causing her to feel guilty, causing her to feel things she doesn’t want to feel. Like desire, for someone she can barely stand but somehow can’t keep herself away from. She doesn’t want to have these feelings for Val, but she has no idea how to get rid of them.
Even now, as angry as she is at him for kissing her, she can’t help but hope he will do it again. What’s the matter with me? As she inwardly scolds herself, Zendaya heads to the bar for another glass of champagne. That’s when she bumps into him. He stares at her bewilderedly, at a complete loss for words. She moves past him quickly, deliberately disappearing into the crowd. Val shakes his head at himself, angry that he couldn’t muster up something to say. No other woman has the power over him that she has. She turns him into a complete bumbling mess, when normally he was so smooth and debonair with females.
All he can think of is that stolen kiss. Did he imagine that she kissed him back? No, she definitely did. It gave him hope. He wasn’t crazy, she felt what he felt. He just had to convince her that he wouldn’t run this time. This time he wasn’t going anywhere, ever.
* * *
The next day Zendaya spent shopping with the girls. She was happy to take a break from her and Val’s awkward run-ins with each other. GOD WHY DID HE HAVE TO BE ACROSS THE HALL FROM HER!?
Anyways she thought some retail therapy would do her good. Her Karina Aly and Lindsay spent the day in the island’s local shops. Zendaya bought some beautiful handcrafted jewelry and some colorful sarongs.
Later that night Karina and Zendaya decide to order in room service, drink some wine and watch a cheesy chick-flick together. Mostly everyone else had gone out to go drinking at the bars but Zendaya and Karina were feeling like spending a night of quality time together. Karina got the distinct feeling that Zendaya needed it, but she knew it would take a couple more glasses of wine and some serious coaxing to get her to finally spill about what had clearly been bothering her the last 24 hours.
Zendaya hears a knock at her hotel room door. Karina swallows a sip from her wine glass. “Mmm room service again? Maybe they forgot something?” Karina asks quizzically.
“That’s weird, I think we have everything...” Zendaya opens the door to one of the hotel staff people holding a giant box. “Delivery for you Zendaya.”
“Thank you!” Zendaya beams taking the box from him. She smiles to herself while she unties the the pale-pink ribbon and her smile widens when it reveals two-dozen red roses, the smell of them wafting into the room.
“Oh how gorgeous! I’m jealous! Somebody loves you,” coos Karina.
“They must be from Trevor. He misses me.” Zendaya clutches the bouquet and twirls.
Zendaya opens the accompanying card but her smile drops to a look of utter shock when she reads it. Karina studies her expression, then smirks. “Not from Trevor I take it?” She kinks her eyebrow at her.
Zendaya shakes her head wordlessly and looks up from staring at the card. She thinks of something to say, a cover. “Nope.” She forces a smile, “They’re from Trevor just saying he misses me and can’t wait ’til I come home.” She absentmindedly lets the last part of her sentence trail off and puts her nose into the roses, inhaling the heavenly scent.
“Bullshit Daya, lemme see the card.” Karina reaches for it.
“No!” Zendaya shouts jumping away from her. Karina hops on the bed and wrestles it away from Zendaya’s grip reading it aloud and holding Zendaya away with one arm.
  Zendayachka,
I’m sorry. Please forgive me...
-V
Karina’s playful smile fades into a look of concern. She knows Val’s handwriting and V clearly stands for Val not Trevor! Zendaya turns away from Karina’s view, placing a hand distressingly on her forehead.
“Z baby...”
“Karina I really don’t wanna talk about it.”
“I know you don’t! I practically had to beat it out of you to admit you still had feelings for him yesterday. But you have to talk about it...I can tell it’s eating you alive. Keeping it all bottled up is not going to fix anything. Did something happen?” she pauses for a moment trying to study Zendaya’s face for clues. “...or is it just a general all-encompassing apology for the last 4 years?” she asks waving the card in the air.
Zendaya releases an angry chuckle, “he sure has a lot to be sorry for doesn’t he? It’s hard to know where one apology ends and the other begins!”
“Okay...but I thought you guys were being friends and getting along.” Karina puts air-quotations around the word friends.
“Yea..well. We were...up until he kissed me.” Zendaya takes a deep, steadying breath and finally glances back at Karina. Her eyes are wide and her jaw agape, “What did you do? Did you kiss back!?”
Zendaya scrunches her face, “maybe...a little bit.” Karina’s jaw drops even further. “...and then I kinda smacked him.” Zendaya confesses.  A smile plays at the corner of Karina’s lips. It’s quiet for a moment and when she can no longer hold it anymore..she bursts out into a fit of laughter. She can totally picture those two idiots.
“Karina!” Zendaya shouts and throws a pillow at her. “This isn’t funny! What do I do?”
Karina stifles her laughter and gets serious, her best friend is hurting. She can see this whole situation is stressing her out to no end. Zendaya was never someone to lie or deceive. She was honest to a fault. She knew this guilt was eating her alive. “Well I guess it all depends on if the kiss meant anything to you. If it didn’t then..I guess you accept Val’s apology and try and remain friends or whatever it is that you two are. If it did then you need to tell Trevor..sooner rather than later Daya. You’re marrying him in a month.”
A tiny tear tumbles down Zendaya’s cheek. She shields her face from Karina. “I need to sleep.”
“Z, you can’t avoid it.”
“I’m not. the kiss meant nothing. Really. C’mon let’s finish watching the movie and go to sleep.” Zendaya feels a twinge in her chest when she looks at the bouquet of roses beside her, and the handwriting on the note. She suddenly notices the other side of the card has been written on too. A completion of the ellipsis on the front:
…But I’m not sorry about the kiss.
* * *
Zendaya’s eyes flutter open and she groans at the knocking sound at her hotel room door. Karina has left a note on her nightstand.
Z-
Went to brunch with Maks. Call if you need me.
Love you,
Karina
*Knock knock knock.* It grows louder.
Zendaya rubs her eyes and tosses her bed-head hair. She’s in just her panties and braless in a wife beater but she answers the door anyway. She figures it’s one of the girls and she’s still half asleep. Wrong. Tan skin, deep set eyes, chiseled jaw-line covered in scruff, Val’s beautiful face greets her at the open of the door. She tries to ignore the sudden drop in her chest at the sight of him.
She rolls her eyes and goes to shut the door. She hasn’t forgotten what happened at the renewal of vows ceremony...where he kissed her! Unexpectedly and totally out of line. He stops the door from slamming with his left arm, prying it open.
“Babe, wait please listen” all of the l’s and vowels drawl and drip with his sexy Russian accent. Zendaya caves.
"What Val?” She lets out an exasperated sigh.
“Did you get my flowers?”
“Yea..whatever” she mumbles and tosses her hair again. Suddenly her eyes bulge as she realizes what she’s wearing, or rather not wearing. And Val is making no effort to hide his gawking at her! She hastily grabs a bathrobe from the closet next to the door. Val chuckles slightly, his eyes sparkling along with it. Zendaya gathers the robe at her chest and indignantly shakes her head.
“What do you want Val?” she asks with clear irritation in her voice.
"Look I’m sorry for what happened the other night and I wanna make it up to you.”
“There is no making it up. We just shouldn’t be around each other right now.”
“Daya…please. I heard you the other night. You’re engaged. You’re getting married. I get it...we can’t be together..you don’t want to be with me. You’re with…"(he can’t even say it...) the muscles in his body tense at the thought..him. He shrugs it off. “But at one point and time you and me were really great friends...before all of this drama. I think we need to remember that.” His lips form a firm line as Zendaya contemplates. She thinks back to when she was just 16 and meeting him for the first time, becoming his dance partner. He was a mentor, someone she could look up to, someone she could go to when things were rough. It continued to be that way for 3 years...but then things got complicated. Maybe they always had been, it's just that the age had prevented it from being so too soon. Whatever. She shook the thoughts off. She should just let the past be the past. Besides...she couldn’t resist him. for whatever reason..he said something and she just instantly felt compelled to do whatever to make him smile. Lately he looked so sad, and she was sick of seeing him that way.
Zendaya leans her head against the frame of the door way...
“FINE!” she tosses her arms up in surrender. “But keep your lips to yourself! And your hands where I can see them!" She pokes a finger into his chest for emphasis and Val tries not to laugh.
"I promise. I will be nothing but a gentleman.." he says earnestly.
Yea that's what I'm afraid of...Zendaya thinks to herself. "What did you have in mind to make it up to me then hmm?"
Val’s lips curve into a devilish smirk...
“Go get your suit on..we’re going jet skiing.”
* * *
Zendaya stares wide-eyed at the jet ski that bobs up and down in the waves.
“How did you...I’ve always wanted to...”
“I know. You told me.”
“I did? When?”
“When we were on the show...you said you wanted your driver’s licensee just so you could rent a jet ski. You wanted that even more than to drive a car. You only wanted a car to go get ice cream.” Val smiles at the memory.
Zendaya shakes her head incredulously, “I can’t believe you remember that. And how did you know I haven't ridden one by now?"
"A little birdie told me." He smiles and Val swings a leg over the side of the jet ski and climbs on, he holds his hand out to her. “What are you waiting for? C’mon.”
She shakily grabs his hand and slowly edges her way to the end of the dock. Gently placing her hands on his shoulders, she swings herself over the jet ski behind him.
“I’ll drive for a little bit first. Then you give it a try. How’s that sound?” He said with his chin over his left shoulder back to her.
“G-good. Let’s go.” she stutters nervously.
“You’re gonna have to hold on tighter than that.” Zendaya shifts uncomfortably, her hands still tentatively placed on his broad shoulders.
“Wrap your arms around my waist.” Val commands, gripping the throttle.
“It’s fine I can hang on this way.” Val laughs and shake his head.
“Ok. Suit yourself. Here we go.”
The jet ski jolts forward spitting water into Zendaya’s face and instantly dousing her. She shrieks in response as she nearly falls off. She instinctively grips Val’s waist, and tucks her face against his shoulder to shield herself from the splashing waves. With her fingers now splayed across his abdomen, she pulls herself to him tighter, her long legs clinging to his sides.
“Told you you were gonna wanna hold on!” Val shouts over the buzz of the jet ski and the woosh-ing of waves and salty ocean air rushing past them.
Zendaya’s eyes squeeze shut, nervous that if she looks she will fall off. She has never felt anything like this adrenaline rush. She places her forehead to his back her arm fully embracing his torso now… she's holding on for dear life.
“You ok?!” Val yells back to her.
“Fine.” She respondes, bouncing up and down with the waves.
“Open your eyes Zendaya.”
“No. I can’t. I’m scared!”
“I’m here. You will be fine. Trust me. I won’t let anything happen to you.”
And for the first time in four years, she believes him. She inhales deeply and opens her eyes. Aqua blue rushes past her at full speed, the crest of waves crashing into them. The waves undulating and colliding in their wake.
“Woo hoo!” she exclaims and begins to laugh hysterically, tossing her head back in total abandon. It is the freest she’s felt in years.
* * *
"Ok babe, it's your turn..you ready!?"
"Born ready!" Zendaya responds and Val can't help but smile so wide at how goofy she is when she is excited about something. He missed being around that so much.
Val switches spots with Zendaya to give her a turn to drive, unsure of where he should put his hands. He knows where he wants to put them...just to hold on of course...not for any other reasons... Keep telling yourself that Chmerkovskiy, he thinks to himself.
Before he can figure out whether grabbing onto her would offend her and if he's better off holding onto the jet ski seat, Zendaya gases it without warning, tossing Val in the air. His fall into the water is broken only by his head hitting the side of the dock first, hard. He's knocked out cold.. sinking down. Down.

I Want You, I Need You
I am loving the opportunity to keep writing. I am also taking requests on which multi-chapter fic I should continue; Ransom or Favourite Star Season so, let me know if you have a preference.
This smutty Sunday piece was requested by pink7184. I hope you like it.
I Want You, I Need You
"Why are we having this argument right now?" Zendaya was yelling, her arms raised above her head in exasperation.
"We aren't arguing, we're meant to be having a conversation - like adults!" Zendaya hated that word - adults. The age gap between her and Val was one that made her feel insecure, even after years of dating. She was a legal adult who lived independently and yet in moments like these, she always felt like a child. Val didn't mean it, but whenever he was angry, he felt it was necessary to highlight just how old Zendaya was. It was all most a way to belittle her when things weren't going his way.
"I'm sorry I'm not as mature as you, Val." Zendaya snorted with a tinge of bitterness to her voice. "But, right now, we are having an argument, a pointless one at that."
"Pointless?" Val scoffed in response. He was now pacing the length of her living room, his legs taking large strides within the confined space. "You're asking me to sit there and watch whilst another guy fondles you in public and you think this is pointless?"
Val and Zendaya's heated exchange had originated with her Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 contract. As stated in her contract, Zendaya was legally obliged to do whatever her publicist asked of her and in this case, it was a publicity stunt that starred Tom Holland. The aim of the game was to utilise Tom and Zendaya's friendship to boost the hype surrounding the sequel that was quickly approaching its release date. Fans were intrigued to know about Tom and Zendaya's relationship which meant they were seemingly interested to see how their characters' romantic plot panned out in the highly anticipated movie. For sales, the idea was utter genius but for Val, it meant he couldn’t do or say anything as his secret girlfriend paraded around with another man on her arm.
"We are just hanging out! It's the same as the last movie. We just do some of the press releases together, pose for so much pictures - that's it!" Zendaya didn't understand why Val was getting so jealous. In fact, Zendaya thought his overreaction was preposterous. She didn't object to when he had to dance up close and personal with his ex-girlfriends. She sat in the audience and watched him rumba like the proud girlfriend she was. She didn't understand why he couldn't do the same for her.
"That's not it-" Before Val could begin to list all that was wrong with Zendaya's contracted obligation, a knock came at the door. The two suddenly went quiet before automatically turning towards the grandad clock that hung in Zendaya's living room. It was approaching 11pm and neither of them were expecting any visitors, especially at this hour. Zendaya got up off her spot on the couch and stalked towards the door, her eyes scanning past the security camera feed as she did. Within seconds, Zendaya's frown was turned upside down; the smile stretching across her lips as she pulled open her front door.
"Bella!" Zendaya hadn't seen the familiar redhead in months and her unexpected arrival was bittersweet. Zendaya desperately wanted to continue her heated debate with Val but she also wanted to relish in the presence of one of her dearest friends. "This is a surprise. How are you?"
"Hey, Z." Bella went in for a hug and the two met in the middle, their arms curling around each other instinctively. “Sorry for stopping by so suddenly but there are road closures up ahead and the storms are meant to come in tonight.” Zendaya nodded knowingly. It was the reason why Val was staying with Zendaya tonight. The two were meant to spend the following day together after Val had gotten some well-deserved rest. He had been in extensive rehearsals approaching the new season of Dancing with The Stars and truth be told, his partner wasn’t much of a dancer. Hence why Val had decided that a full night’s sleep would leave him refreshed and ready to spend time with his girl. However, weather reports had claimed the approach of the storm of the century and Val didn’t want to be stranded, without Zendaya, on his only day off. “Is it okay for me to crash here tonight?”
“Of course, it is, you goof.” Zendaya pulled open the door, inviting Bella inside her home.
“Oh, hey Val!” Bella’s eyes bulged open, mentally slapping herself. She knew Zendaya and Val were in a relationship and it hadn’t even crossed her mind that Zendaya would have company. “I’m sorry if I’m interrupting anything.” Bella cringed awkwardly, her hands ushering between the two.
“Hey, Bella! Don’t be silly, you’re welcome to spend time with us whenever you want!” Val smiled courteously even though a nagging part of him wanted to say, ‘Yes, you are interrupting. Leave.’  He liked Bella, he really did, but she couldn’t have had worse timing. Val’s jealousy was bubbling within him aggressively, the idea of Zendaya being so comfortable with another man wasn’t sitting right with him. Val needed to talk this out with Zendaya and he needed to do it soon.
“If you guys don’t mind, is it okay for me to just head straight to bed?” Bella didn’t want to be a third wheel and honestly, Zendaya was doing her a massive favour by letting her stay; she didn’t want to impose any more than she already was.
“Aw, B,” Zendaya closed the door behind her and turned all her attention to Bella rather than grouchy old Val in the corner. “Hang with us! We can watch a movie or something.”
“No, no, honestly, I am exhausted!” Bella faked a yawn and Zendaya just chuckled at her. She knew Bella well enough to know that she was purposefully trying to give Zendaya and Val their alone time. “I’m just going to call Matt and get some sleep.” Matt, or Blackbear as he was known to most, was Bella’s current boyfriend and just like Val and Zendaya, the two were pros at living out their long-distance relationship.
“You know where the spare bedroom is, right?” The question was more rhetorical, Bella had been over at Zendaya’s place plenty of times; it was practically a second home to her. “You head up and I’ll bring you blankets and … some tea?” An excited nod was given at the mention of tea. Zendaya wasn’t a whizz in the kitchen but one thing she could do right was tea. Bella made her way up the stairs and Zendaya brushed past Val in order to make Bella’s tea. Zendaya was looking at her feet as she walked past him and Val, he was staring directly at her. His hand caught her wrist as she stepped through the doorway and into the kitchen, halting her movements drastically.
“We have to talk about this.” Despite holding her temporarily captive, Val’s touch was gentle. His thumb was tracing light patterns into Zendaya’s skin making unintentional shivers run through her.
“Val,” Zendaya warned with a whisper. She didn’t want to do this in front Bella. She knew they’d start having a normal discussion that would lead back to what Bella had walked in on – a heated, and rather loud, argument. “Not now.”
“Yes, now.” Val was whispering also but his tone was still firm, authoritative. He was a Russian man with hot blood, there was no way he was going to downplay his girlfriend’s current situation. “I go back to work tomorrow and what, you’re free to go on all these dates with Tom? That’s not okay with me.”
“I am not going on dates, Val!” Zendaya felt like she was going in circles just constantly repeating herself. She didn’t know what to say or do for Val to believe her – to trust her. “I am just hanging out with a friend.”
“A friend who has feelings for you.” Zendaya was about to intervene but Val held his hand up, quietening her within seconds. “And don’t try to tell me he doesn’t having feelings. I see the way he looks at you, acts around you.” Val didn’t like to acknowledge the fact that Tom adored Zendaya. The boy couldn’t keep the smile off his face whenever in her presence and Val couldn’t blame him. “I know because it’s the way I look at you.” Zendaya was perfect; her looks, her kindness, her talent. Zendaya was the whole package, hence why Val felt so threatened. He didn’t like the idea of losing her. Zendaya was the only girl Val had ever fell so wholly in love with. The thought of her not being in his life wasn’t just heart-breaking, it was earth-shattering.
“Val, can we not talk about this now, please.” Zendaya shook her hand out of his hold and continued to make Bella’s tea. From the corner of her eye, she saw Val leave the room and she let out an audible sigh. She hated fighting with him. But, for now, Zendaya needed to distract herself with the hospitable arrival of Bella – she could talk to Val later. Zendaya prepped some jasmine tea on a tray full of snacks and made her way upstairs, a fluffy blanket tucked neatly under her arm. Zendaya paused outside Bella’s door, placing the tray on the floor before reaching over to knock.
However, Zendaya’s arm paused as she heard a soft moan come from inside.
“I miss you so much, Matty.” Bella’s voice was raspy and seductive and Zendaya simply stood frozen in her spot. She didn’t know why but her legs just wouldn’t let her move. A sense of curiosity was ignited within her and she stopped to listen. “I wish you were here, I wish you were the one touching me, playing with me.” There was a light lag in conversation, presumably where Blackbear responded to Bella on the phone and Zendaya felt a sensation bubble within the pits of her stomach. “Are you playing with yourself, huh? Thinking about me here … by myself.” Listening to Bella was turning an already angsty Zendaya on. She could hear Bella’s fumbling on the mattress accompanied by her moans and Zendaya had to try holding in one of her own.  With Val’s crazy rehearsal schedule and her Spiderman promotion tour, the couple spending time together was a rarity. With this entailed a prolonged period of no sex. And truth be told, she missed him … she missed him like crazy. She missed the movement of his hips, the throaty whispers into her ear, his rough yet simulatenously soft touch.
As if she had been zapped by a sudden force, Zendaya snapped out of her turned on haze, dropping Bella’s blanket beside the tray of food. She speedily made her way to her own bedroom, knowing that was where Val had made his way to earlier. She spotted him instantly, he was stood in front of the TV, his fingers fussing at the buttons on top.
“Stupid remote.” Val was mumbling to himself, his anger seemingly being taken out on the TV and its inability to function how he wanted it to. He was so focused on trying to get the TV to work that he hadn’t noticed Zendaya walk into the room. With her hormones still running a rage, Zendaya made her way to Val, her knees dropping before him. Val looked down at her suddenly, his eyes looking down at her widened doe ones. “Babe,” Val said, the uncertainty evident in his voice. “What are you doing?”
“I don’t want to fight anymore.” Zendaya played with the buckle of his trousers, desperately trying to get them undone. She grabbed at his length through his trousers and Val took a step back. He knew that sex wasn’t the answer to their problem; a discussion was. He placed his hands against her shoulders, forcing her up and back onto her feet again. A look of sadness – and rejection - floated across Zendaya’s features and Val tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. He let his hand travel leisurely down her face before he spoke.
“I want you-“ Val didn’t want Zendaya to think that he was rejecting her because the idea of her dropping to her knees and taking him was the hottest thing he had seen, ever. He adored her, in every sense of the matter and he wanted her to know that – fight or no fight. “But-“
“No buts, Val.” Zendaya pressed her chest against his tightly, their body heat intermingling. “I want you, no, I need you, right now.” And as she spoke Val knew he was putty in her hands. Her simple sentence of reassurance and the glazed over look in her eyes was enough of an indicator for Val to know that she was his. Regardless of Tom’s affection towards Zendaya, at the end of the night, she got into bed with Val. She told him she loved him, she made love to him and that was all that mattered.
Val’s hand progressed from Zendaya’s face down her body in admiration; her arm, to her breasts, her hips and then her thigh. Zendaya sucked in a breath as his fingers traced the smooth skin. His fingers inched closer and closer to her inner thigh, excusing her panties and finding their way inside her. Zendaya gasped, her eyes fluttering shut. “Val…” The sound of his name on her lips was ecstasy and enough to make Val move faster. He moved his fingers at an increased pace, his neck falling into the crook of her neck.
“I’m sorry, baby.” Val peppered kisses to her neck as she spoke. “I didn’t mean to get angry … I just I want to be the only man on earth who gets to adore you.” He was muttering into her neck whilst his fingers steadily moved in and out of her. Zendaya opened her mouth to respond but no words came out. She was gaping, like a fish out of water, the moans just ascending from the back of her throat. “I want to be the only man who gets to touch you, feel you.”
“You …” Zendaya’s moans were louder, her eyes still glued shut. She was captivated by Val’s touch: the way his stubble rubbed against her skin, the way his free hand cupped her hip. Zendaya knew she couldn’t use her voice to tell Val that he was only man for her so, she decided to use her body instead. She grabbed his face with her hands and pressed her lips against his, kissing him with a pent-up hunger. Her claw like fingernails pulled at his shirt, tugging it up and over his head in seconds. Then came her pleasurable torture. She scratched and tugged at his toned body, her whimpers soon drowning against his lips. Their mouths were pressed together tightly, both fighting for dominance. But as time passed and breathing became harder, Zendaya gave in. Val parted her lips with his tongue before tasting her mouth fully as she fell apart around his fingers. “Val!”
As Zendaya came down from her orgasm, they separated to catch their breath. Zendaya and Val took the opportunity to discard of all their clothing. The process was messy and clumsy; a depiction of how urgently they wanted one another.  Zendaya pushed Val back against the bed as soon as they were naked, her eyes devouring him before she inched up his body. She rubbed her fingers up and down his thighs teasingly, his body clearly tightening with the amount of tension he was currently experiencing.
“Don’t tease me, not right now.” Val grabbed at Zendaya’s hair, pulling her up his body. She smirked against his pouted lips before slowly straddling him, her body engulfing him fully. “Fuck.” The hiss left Val’s mouth in pleasure. He had missed this, being this close to her. They’d been apart for so long he had forgotten how good she felt.
Zendaya placed her hands flat against his chiselled chest as she began to rhythmically rock backwards and forwards. Val’s hands freely travelled her body; her arms, her stomach, her thighs, her perky little breasts. He gripped her firmly, massaging her breasts to the rhythm of their movements. “Baby, I’m so close.” Val’s head was flat against the bed.
“Val … please … oh my god, please.” Val’s hands fell to her hips, all most guiding her so that he was effectively inside her more; deeper, harder. The two moaned each other’s names until they were effectively riding out their simultaneous orgasms – their argument completely forgotten.

Thank you all for reading! Your feedback is always appreciated. <3
Chapter 9:
Zendaya stands with her toes in the sand, looking out over the ocean as the sun descends out of sight.
She feels very much like the view before her. Her emotions like the waves, turbulent and uncontrollable. Her heart like the sunset,  ablaze with a fire that’s fading now, giving way to new colors and new perspective.
She wonders if the sun has set on her relationship with Trevor? They are still engaged but Zendaya can feel herself being carried in another direction. And it's as strong as the sea’s undertow...pulling her helplessly towards Val. But is it wise to give into her desires? Her hopes had been crushed before...Would it happen again?
There is no fighting against a riptide once you’re caught in it, and with Val she's unsure whether she would sink or swim. There is no doubt with Trevor, he's safe and simple..he loves her. But where’s the thrill in that?
***Listen to song here "If I ain't got nothing I got you If I ain't got something I don't give a damn 'Cause I got it with you" Val stands from his chair. He is completely entranced by her voice as she continues. "I don't know much about algebra but I know One plus one equals two." Zendaya gestures with her hands holding up her index finger then her forefinger. Her voice changes effortlessly from the low to high notes. "And it's me... and you..." She draws out the vowels with beautiful vocal runs. Her voice has gotten even better over the years, it's more refined and confident. She has gained a wider range with age and experience. She’s now had the life experience to back the soul in her voice. She touches her chest, then points out to the crowd..it just so happens she’s pointing in Val’s general direction... "That's all we'll have when the world is through 'Cause baby We ain't got nothing without love" She looks right at him.   "Darling you got enough for the both of us..so come on baby." Her voice crescendos. Val begins to walk closer to the stage, drawn in by her heavenly voice. It’s the voice of an angel, so good it could make a grown man cry. He knows Ehiku and Ingo are dancing and that this is their song they chose, but he feels like she’s singing only to him. "Make love to me When my days look low Pull me in close and don't let me go Make love to me So when the world's at war Let our love heal us all Right now baby" Val looks over and Ehiku is dancing with Ingo, tears running down her face. It is incredible how much of an effect Zendaya's voice can have over people...including him. "Make love to me (me, me, me, me) ohhh, oh make love to me" Just when Val thinks she can’t get any more beautiful, she begins the next verse... "Hey, I don't know much about guns but I I've been shot by you, hey" She’s looking directly at him. He’s in front of the stage now. He doesn’t care at all that people can see. He’s her biggest fan. "And I don't know when I'm gon' die but I hope That I'm gon' die by you hey And I don't know much about fighting but I I know I will fight for you" Somehow Val believes those words. He is fighting for her now, and he will go down swinging. "Hey. And just when I ball up my fist I realize I'm laying right next to you Baby We ain't got nothing but love... And darling you got enough for the both of us.." Zendaya finishes out the song, she is breathless and the crowd goes wild with cheers for her performance. She clasps her hands together and blows a kiss to Ehiku and Ingo. She goes to climb down from the stage and Val is waiting at the bottom, extending a hand.
“Here, let me help you down, beautiful.” She places her dainty hand in his, he grips her firmly and guides her down to the floor. “That was incredible. Like usual. I mean..it’s the first time in a long time I’ve gotten to actually hear you sing live. But I always watched every performance on TV” Val begins to rave. “Really!?” Zendaya asks incredulously. “Thanks..” she says shyly, she tucks her hair behind her ear, “..first time I ever sang that song.” “Could’ve fooled me. Sounded like you’d done it a thousand times.” “I don’t know about all that Val, but thank you.” “Seriously babe, you could’ve sung Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and had people in tears.” “Babe..” she pauses and tilts her head to look at him, “I haven’t heard you call me that in awhile.” “Sorry..old habits die hard.” “No no, it’s fine. I don’t mind at all.” They have another wordless stare. “So!” He bows and offers his hand again.. “You think you remember how to dance with your old partner?” “Pssh I would dance circles around you now! You’re old, washed up..way past your prime,” she teases while playfully shoving him. “Wow.” Val leans forward and whispers in her ear. “I really don’t want to have to embarrass you. But I just might have to now.” She shivers at his husky voice at her ear, but acts unfazed. “Puh-lease, less talk more walk!” she grabs him by his tie and drags him onto the dance floor. The band has switched to an up-tempo song so everyone can join in and dance to celebrate. *** Now Val finally has a chance to slow down and just be with her. Dancing instantly transports them to their own world. He is able to study and admire her features - her face and its beautifully smooth, glowing skin.. her plump red lips, her cat-like mocha eyes. She has a nose piercing now, a simple diamond stud that stands out nicely against her caramel skin tone. He's able to rediscover the curves of her smile, the contours of her face, the wrinkle in her nose when he got her laughing hard enough.
They do some ChaCha and samba to the dance music. Val admires the way her hips move to the pulsing beats. The way her face lights up when she dances and how her feet glide effortlessly. He remembers why they connect so well - she loves dance just as much as he does. Each of her movements extend all the way to the very tips of her fingers.
He aches to pull her against him, wrap her in a long and relentless embrace. Instead he twirls her on his hand, admiring the lines and shapes she creates as she twists and dazzles around the floor. After a few songs the DJ takes a break, allowing the band to take back over. This time it is just a cello and the piano playing an instrumental version of "A Thousand Years"
***Listen to song here The piano begins and Zendaya’s face drops, she stops mid-spin to stare nervously at Val. He swallows and reaches out to her, the cello begins its heartbreaking accompaniment. She takes both of his hands, and instead of them doing a dance like the waltz or something, she adorns her arms around his neck, and he hesitantly places his on her hips, gauging her reaction. She leans towards him, the side of her face close to touching his, causing her cheek to burn. Val closes his eyes and breathes in her scent, his nose grazes her forehead, and he relishes in her proximity. He delicately twirls the ends of her curls that cascade down her bare back in his fingertips.
The music intensifies and Zendaya can feel tears welling in her eyes. She clutches Val’s shoulders, like she will lose him if she doesn’t grip him tight enough. Who knows how long this moment will last? Val's hands claim her waist and settle at the small of her back. She rests her chin on his shoulder.. he brings her hand up to his face, rubbing it against his scruffy cheek. The softness of her skin creates a tingling contrast. He massages circles with his thumb on the back of her hand until her wrist catches his eye. He runs his fingers over the first evil-eye bracelet he had given her all those years ago on their season of Dancing With the Stars. “You still have this?” They continue to sway faintly to the music. Zendaya blushes, “Yes, I wear it everyday.” Val stops swaying and penetrates a stare deep into her brown eyes. “I want you to know.. I thought of you everyday,” he confesses earnestly. Zendaya looks down and fidgets with her bracelet uncomfortably. “Val, don’t...” “Don’t what? I did. That’s the truth, and I still do.” Zendaya suddenly steps back breaking their embrace, she tosses her hands in the air, “Just stop it Val.” “Stop what?” “I’m not doing this here.” Zendaya’s eyes scan the dance floor. She doesn’t want to cause a scene. “Well let’s go talk then.” Val reaches for her hand which she in-turn snatches away. “No. It's all in the past.” Zendaya says, clutching her bracelet again. “Bullshit.” Val states forcefully taking her by the waist and guiding her towards the starry beach away from the tent and reception. The chatter of guests and music fades away and is replaced by the salty mist stinging their noses, the damp sand beneath their toes, the sound of waves crashing against the shore. “Val why are we doing this? There is nothing left to say. It was years ago. We just got our friendship back on track.” Zendaya folds her arms across her chest in frustration and shivers in response to the damp ocean air. “No. I’m sick and tired of pretending Zendaya.” “Pretending what Valentin!?” She doesn’t know why but she’s shouting at him now. “Pretending that there’s nothing between us!” Val exclaims, eyes wide. Zendaya lets out a throaty laugh. “Val stop. This is a joke.” He steps towards her and grasps her forcefully by both sides of her arms “Stop deflecting. I know you feel it too. It’s the same reason that you came here a month before your wedding. The same reason that you still wear the first bracelet that I gave you.” His eyes shift back and forth to search hers.. a vibrant and wild green.  Nobody looks at her the way that he does. “Val what-” The rest of her sentence is completely muffled by his mouth when it lands on hers. He kisses her suddenly and hard - with passion and frustration. She kisses back, and she can almost feel her brain tilt, letting any sensible thoughts flow out.
Val tugs her closer to deepen the kiss, his strong hands grasping her face, her heart pounds in response. But Zendaya quickly emerges from her haze. She pulls away abruptly and proceeds to flip out.
WHAM! Both of her hands slam into Val’s chest, pushing and shoving him, knocking the wind out of him and taking him by total surprise. “What the hell is wrong with you?!” BAM! Another blow to his chest. “What were you thinking!?”
WHACK! She slaps him upside the head.
"How dare you!"
Val brushes the front of his shirt and drags his thumb across his bottom lip, it burns with longing from where hers had just been. “Look I'm sorry..but I had to make you see. There’s not a day that has gone by that I haven’t missed you. I've never stopped regretting what happened between us.” “You can’t just kiss me and say things like that to me and expect everything to be POOF fixed! You hurt me. I never thought I would get over it.” “You haven’t and I haven’t.." Val reaches for her hand and she recoils. “No Val I have. I’m marrying Trevor.” “Daya you can’t-” He steps forward. She doubles back and puts both of her hands up as if asking him not to shoot. “You don’t have to like it, but I’m asking you to respect it. Please. Just leave it alone.” Zendaya shakes her head, looks down, turns away and lifts her dress and starts to run back to the party.
Val calls after her into the cold night air, but she keeps running..and she doesn't look back.
