this is so true honestly. I sometimes rename the bursonas for AUs but I never claim to have created them. There was a period of time in the past where I did but I don’t stand by that behavior anymore. Art theft is art theft no matter how bad the creator is!

Update: I went back through all my au posts and changed Wilson back to wilbur and ghostson back to Ghostbur because those names were dumb. (Everyone else gets to keep their new names for AUs because saying _bur for a lot of them kinda cheapens the writing)

people are always drawing art of c!wilbur and then calling him their oc named willard or willy or wally or some stupid shit. and then they main tag it in the c!wilbur tag. that's not your oc where's waldo you've changed literally nothing about him except giving him a worse name. i am fr not calling him all that

I rewatched the Hitting on 16 vod and I have some thoughts.

Revivebur has so many delusions of grandeur. He thinks being the former president of a country that doesn’t exist anymore because he blew it up gives him any significance beyond being feared by the few major characters who couldn’t take him in a fight. In reality, this is so far from the truth that it’s laughable. The only reason that people like Skeppy fear him is because they don’t realize how pathetic he is now; they see him as this powerful figure who blew up a country, without realizing that he had no idea what he was doing as president and that he blew up L’Manberg in a time where he was not there mentally.

I love the moments in hitting on 16 where he assumes Quackity is going to give him Las Nevadas or that he must think about him all the time. Wil clearly is a person who was once important but has since become irrelevant due to time and is doing everything he can to boost his shattered ego. He is very cocky and tries to seem dignified but that confident persona shatters the moment something is said that he doesn’t like and he has to fight to not go off on an angry rant right there.

Also, the freaking poem he wrote just trash talking las Nevadas. He’s so petty and it’s just a joy to watch. And the way he gets increasingly panicked in the final confrontation over Quackity’s horse is just so- Augh /pos. He’s completely lost control of a plan that he thought he had considered every minute detail of and doesn’t know how to bounce back.

Hitting on 16 is definitely my favorite thing that has come out of DSMP. I love it. Please, if you can watch the stream or read the fic (without supporting cc!Wilbur) do so.

He may be fancy now but you can’t tell me that man wouldn’t jump at the chance to walk around in booty shorts or name all his animals stupid things like boner.

Also I want to see people lean into the more animalistic aspects of hybrid characters. Quackity swims around in the pool like a duck all the time and preens his feathers!! Tubbo headbutts tommy with his horns!! Fundy snarls!! Philza has a nest!! That may just be the furry in me talking but let me have this!

I feel like most of the fandom doesn’t give Ghostbur credit for how mature and complex he is. Like- he’s cute and optimistic but that doesn’t mean innocent baby.

Every time I watch the scene where Ghostbur gets pissed at phil for blowing up L’Manberg I wanna shove it in the face of people who infantilize him and say: look. LOOK! He’s an adult with emotional depth! Also his optimism is like- a coping mechanism/an act to keep everyone happy. I’m not very good at explaining.

c!Wilbur’s selfishness and inability to change is such an interesting part of his character to me. It’s rarely acknowledged directly but ever present and it makes analyzing Wil’s mental state throughout the story so interesting. Sure, it’s a little infuriating that he never truly learns from his mistakes, but I’m pretty sure that’s the point. The characters want him to become better just as much as we do but it’s never going to happen and we have to accept that.

(Well actually we don’t have to accept it because we have AUs and fanfiction but still)

Words cannot possibly describe how important and special the Dream SMP is to me. I was introduced to the Dream SMP in spring of 2021 by a childhood friend. If you told me 4 years ago that one Technoblade quote in the roblox bio of someone I met in elementary school would change my life forever, I don’t know what I would have thought. That Minecraft server was there for me in one of the most difficult times of my life. When everything was so uncertain and the world felt so awful the Dream SMP gave me something to make me happy.

I don’t think I have ever enjoyed something as much as DSMP and I doubt I will ever enjoy something this much again. Despite every night that I sobbed over cc!Wilbur’s Reddit posts about ghostbur’s limbo, all the sleep I lost trying and failing to be there for lore, every embarrassing thing I do in this fandom, I will never grow to think this was a waste of time or something to be ashamed of.

I see so many people talking about how, despite their love of DSMP, they would never want to go back to that time but i would give anything to go back. I would give anything to see those streams live, to have my name in those chats, to be there for the start of it all. I love this story, these characters, and this fandom so much. No matter how messy things got, no matter how bad the creators are, no matter how toxic the fandom can be I don’t think I will ever be able to leave this behind.

I want to thank everyone involved in the making of DSMP, even the problematic ones, for being such a big part of my life. I also want to thank this fandom for validating my interests and never making me feel alone. Here’s hoping that at least some of you will still be here for years to come. And if not, that’s ok, because I’ll still be here. I’ll still be here because I genuinely love this. I love drawing the bursonas, rewatching streams, writing aus, and talking about my favorite characters. Nothing will ever change that.

Most of all, Thank you Jack Manifold, for letting me feel what it was like to be a fan of Dream SMP when it was going on for one last time.
