ok so I- I thought about it for too long and I-

FEELING TOWARDS CAINE: A JAX ANALYSIS

The question of how Jax feels about Caine has come to my mind more than once, and its hard to not see why- it has the potential to be so interesting!!! That goes for ANY characters opinion on him honestly, Caine is the dude that sends them on adventures and subjects them to every whim of his desires after all…

That fact makes me wonder they dont lash out, especially Pomni since shes newer. I suppose a lot of them just aren't the type to do so…among other things. Kinger isn't all there, Ragatha has convinced herself that the adventures are actually helpful, and Gangle is… Gangle.

Pomni somewhat seems like the type to lash out if provoked enough, and Caine has given her 1000 reasons to do so in like- what? 4 days? But she also believes that whatever she does to “fight back” would be absolutely pointless, and have nothing but negative consequences. Like Zooble, Pomni thinks Caine is more malicious than he actually is (which is not at all) telling from the line “He just wants me to suffer” in ep 3.

Speaking of Zooble! They’re actually kinda an outlier here since they do push back, or…uh….did- WE WILL GET BACK TO THAT.

We first need to address Jax. Who is VERY MUCH the kind of person to lash out. He doesn't seem to care if there's a point in doing so or not, unlike Pomni, and we’ve seen first hand how Jax prioritizes his emotions above all else. If doing whatever he wants will benefit him at all, it's worth doing in his mind. Jax just…seems like the PERFECT type to mess with the guy who is hypothetically “at fault”!!! And if he views Caine as practically harmless, (with what we got from him talking too Zooble in ep 4) what’s stopping him???

I assume that part is mostly common sense- But what I find the most interesting is that Jax is the first to ask Caine about an adventure when Pomni first comes in, if anything I think because of how Jax takes advantage of the cartoon space, and how he plays along, Jax more or less views Caine as just a nonsensical but incredibly powerful robot/AI that is only worth talking to when he knows he’ll personally get something out of it. Theres no point in bullying something that isn’t real, right? As long as he has control with the adventures and Caines not doing anything to stop him from harassing the rest of the gang, his opinion remains “none”

But…At spudys we see that control that Jax thinks he has can be easily taken away. This is where I think Jax will start to change in a lot of ways… When Gangle gets Caine to make a punishment, make CONSEQUENCES, it ruins every single bit of “taking advantage of”, and more importantly CONTROL that Jax had. He feels he has 0 now instead of the 1% he holds so dear. You can see it in his expression/general reaction, Jax is AGHAST, feeling completely (angrily, still) helpless.

But of course! Jax convinces himself that whatever punishment Caine will have, whatever consequences there will be, won't be that bad anyway so actually he still doesn't have to do anything! Similar to Ragatha though, Jax REALLY cares about what other people think. He instinctively goes to others to validate his feelings on the matter, going to Zooble, the CAINE HATER™. The person that he believes he has the best chance with, in validating him and his feelings, that Caine is in fact, nothing but harmless.

But, Zooble shuts this down immediately by reminding Jax that Caine will punish them if they don't do what's asked of them. Jax tries to push back, giving Zooble the chance to be like “actually, no, you're so right!” and validating his earlier feelings that “the punishment” doesn't change anything. Zooble doubles down though, and says they don't want to push it. Jax, trying to call them on their bs, then points out how ironic that is coming for Zooble of all people- which is fair! But the therapy session in the last episode, and Caine pressing the “YOU CAN SHUT UP NOW!” button seems like its making Zooble second guess Caines… whole…thing.

hehhe, I wonder how that's gonna affect the future episodes….

For opinions on Caine, I honestly couldn't say for the other 3, but Pomni, Zooble, and Jax’ opinions seem to be semi important? they've been shown somewhat directly at the very least in the 4 episodes we have. What I think would make for something interesting is if Jax is literally the only one that finds Caine not at all threatening, and somehow HE'S the only correct one. Hed ride that high so much

Jax is also notably the only one that ever joyfully participates in most adventures (as long as it has violence-) so I wonder if Caine is the only one that likes him HRHDHEHE

Jax is so spiteful and angry, but he never directs any of that to THE DUDE WHO HYPOTHETICALLY IS KEEPING THEM HERE

ofc you could chalk that up to him not wanting to make the literal god of their world angry, but Jax said himself that doing anything malicious is “not in his (Caines) nature” like clearly he isnt afraid so…..
