Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
This is a Movie Health Community evaluation. It is intended to inform people of potential health hazards in movies and does not reflect the quality of the film itself. The information presented here has not been reviewed by any medical professionals.
Avatar: The Way of Water has several scenes with machine gun fire. The climactic action sequence takes place among a lot of sparking electrical equipment, flickering lights, and emergency strobe lights. A character is tortured in one scene with a device that uses extreme strobe lights. One underwater sequence involves severe flickering of glowing plant life.
Like the previous film, there are sequences of flight at extreme heights and through complex maneuvers. There is a brief zero-gravity sequence near the beginning. A very large portion of this film takes place underwater, with multiple scenes following action on the rocking surface of the water.
Flashing Lights: 10/10. Motion Sickness: 8/10.
TRIGGER WARNING: Multiple scenes include visceral peril of drowning. One character has a convulsive seizure underwater.

The Adam Project (2022, dir. Shawn Levy) - review by Rookie-Critic
Tumblr media
The Adam Project sees Ryan Reynolds doing his same old thing. Thankfully, that thing he does is very entertaining, and Walker Scobell does an almost scary job of imitating that thing, which makes for an incredibly fun time. The third act may move too fast and, as with most time travel movies, the logic of all the ins and outs is questionable, but it was a good time. Wholly worth checking out.
Score: 7/10
Currently available for streaming on Netflix.

"listen to him: 'i talked to her, wooed her. i'm the one who's the chatty cathy. but it's true— he would talk, and I had no idea what he was saying. the australian accent was unfamiliar to me. and he spoke really fast."

‘Amsterdam,’ directed by David O. Russell
Movie, 2022 Light-hearted, in the main, yet this thriller, set during and after the First World War, has enough grit to go with the twists and turns of the plot, which explores the adventures of a group of friends, and their brushes with accusations and risks of jail an internment in a febrile Central Europe. This film has an old-fashioned touch, as much in the characters as in the period…

Steve Yockey, co-creator of the Max series “The Flight Attendant,” is joining Starfleet as the new screenwriter for “Star Trek 4.”
Story details remain under a powerful cloaking device, but Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot still intend the project to be the final chapter for the cast that rebooted the franchise in movie theaters with 2009’s “Star Trek,” including Chris Pine (as Capt. James T. Kirk), Zachary Quinto (as Cmdr. Spock), Zoe Saldaña (as Lt. Nyota Uhura), Karl Urban (as Dr. Leonard McCoy), John Cho (as Lt. Hikaru Sulu) and Simon Pegg (as chief engineer Montgomery Scott). (Variety first reported the news in its cover story on the future of the “Star Trek” franchise.)
Bringing the cast back following 2016’s “Star Trek Beyond” has proven trickier for the studio than finding an altruistic Ferengi. At least three previous attempts fell apart for various reasons, most recently with director Matt Shakman (“WandaVision”) and screenwriters Lindsey Beer (“Sierra Burgess Is a Loser”) and Geneva Robertson-Dworet (“Captain Marvel”) that the studio had slated to open in late 2023. When Shakman left the film in 2022 to direct “The Fantastic Four” for Marvel Studios, however, Paramount pulled it from its slate and sent it back to spacedock.
