Very few people like centipedes, I've discovered; even those comfortable around spiders, scorpions, snakes etc. They're not arachnids or insects even, but are myriapods like their cousins, the millipedes. Centipedes are voracious carnivores and will hunt a wide variety of prey from worms and insects to small lizards are rodents. All centipedes are venomous but some, especially Scolopendramorphs can have very painful bites to humans. Some are even able to secrete toxic substances like benzoic acid or hydrogen cyanide, and leave a trail of irritating "footprints" if they walk across human skin.
