Harbin - Day 1
So yesterday we arrived in Harbin and I must say its impressive! Driving through the city we got a quick glimpse of St Sophia and I just had to go back once we'd checked into our hotel!
It wasn't as big as it looked in other travellers photos and blog posts but it was definitely incredible!
After taking in the cathedral we took a stroll down Zhongyang Street (Central Street). First thing I will say about this place... It does not feel like China! I felt like I'd crossed over into Russia, with all of the different architecture, food stalls and shops I was a little overwhelmed but after buying some Russian chocolate, some jasmine tea and some of Harbins famous Octopus Balls (baby octopus balled up in waffle dough and covered, no wait... DRENCHED in sauce!) I started to feel like I was really taking in the city!
As it was super cold we decided to head back to our hotel to warm up, relax a little and work out where we wanted to eat for dinner. After some research we found a lovely looking traditional Chinese restaurant however after going out to find it we found that it had been closed for construction. However, down the road from it there was a bar called Dannys so we decided to stop in for a drink before we made our next move.
Turns out we'd stepped into a Western bar and decided it was fate and had our dinner here. Curried sausage with fries and a peach cider.. Yum!
After a long and exhausting day of travelling and sightseeing we decided to call it a night...
... Until tomorrow guys!
P.S. I found Caramel and Butter pringles and Bread flavoured soda!
