19 - The Dynamic Duo V Montreux
Hello folks. I was sitting around twiddling my thumbs and I thought I would give the old hard drive a clean up, so before I dump a load of rubbish I thought I'd better answer these before I throw everything in the recycle bin. Let's start with a lady from New Jersey who goes by the name of Dorothy who gave me a very interesting offer for the next time I'm in New York. If you're reading this Dorothy, could you send Jacky your email address so I can reply to you. I've just opened up a "secret" Hotmail account so I can send replies without pestering the lovely Mrs Smith all the time, and to test it I went to the guestbook and picked a few names at random. Maybe I should reply to the irate drummer, but if I do that he'll just reply to me and the girls in the office will miss out on laughing at him as well. Staying with the skin bashers for a mo, Ron Hansen in Madison is a drummer, and said he liked my jokes and reckons Mr Irate uses three sticks, two in his hands and one up his arse (his words not mine). Would I be correct in saying your a Zep fan Ron? Today's question is, "What do you get if you cross a drummer with a roadie?" The answer is a stupid roadie.
Moving on, last time around I mentioned a drink which we consumed in Brazil, and the charming Sonia and Dina informed me it was called Caipirinha, and a pleasant little tipple it was to. Somewhere in Australia there is a lady called Karen who is listening to the Offspring CD non-stop, so I'm gonna have to try and answer her question as she has such great musical tastes, even though she wants to know the..........(flashing lights, fireworks, drum roll) Hoover Salesman Story. ARGHHHH. Its actually a very short tale, and I think it's quiet boring but it seems to have grown in stature over the years, and as always I'm gonna drag it out and start from the first skiing expedition that I ventured on with RT.
Having checked my trendy little biog mag, I reckon the year is 1980, and the dynamic duo are in Montreux putting the finishing touches to Fun in Space and we have a few days off before a tour starts in Zurich when Rog says, "Let's go skiing." He had skied a few times before and was ok at it, but I had never put a pair of skis on in my life. I said, "Lets go, but you ski and I'll just get pissed." He then went on about what a buzz it is and how I would love it, etc. As we were touring soon our American crew had to fly out, so I called up Jim Devenney and told him to come over a couple of days earlier cause we were gonna ski. Jim is a great skier and was on the first flight available and I picked him up at Geneva airport ready for some fun. That night we hit the town and have too many drinks and Rog goes off to bed semi early, while Jim and myself sat out on the jetty of Duckingham Palace with a ghetto blaster, Derek and Clive tapes, and a vat of wine singing disgusting songs at full blast, which must have echoed over to France. Suddenly we hear a French voice screaming at us and we have no idea what he was saying so we carried on goofing around, and the next thing I hear is a huge splash as Devenney falls in.
Let me assure you that a drunk trying to get a drunk out of Lake Geneva is not an easy task, but we succeed and head back to DP and retire to our rooms. I'd just got into bed when I hear a crash and go to investigate, only to find JD had gone in the wrong room and was trying to get into a baby's cot, and getting him out of there was harder than getting him of the lake.
Next day Roger, Dave Richards, his wife Collette, Jim and myself set off to Zermatt, and on arrival we stock up on skis, passes and other skiing paraphernalia (big words now!) Dinner, drinks and off to bed. Next morning we're up and ready to go, and thinking I'll never ski again after this I refuse to waste money on a ski suit, so I wear jeans. My second wrong move, the first was agreeing to go. The hotel owner wouldn't let us leave the hotel without first drinking a couple of Sambuccas, not my idea of a good breakfast, eggs, bacon, tea, toast and Italian liqueurs, but who are we to refuse. Next I've got to try and walk in those godamn boots, and we eventually arrive at the top of the Matterhorn.
The OK skiers, RT and Dave set off on their own, Collette begins a very slow trip down while JD tells me he'll stay and teach me. On go the skis, and down I go, flat on my arse. Up I get and I'm off, for all of about 2ft before I'm down again. This is not any fun. After a couple more tumbles my great mate Jim said, "If you're gonna f*** around I'm going." And thats the last I saw of him all day. Thanks pal. I'm standing there watching people ski and think, "It can't be that hard. If you stand like this, lean like that, you can ski." So I stand and lean in the correct positions and I'm away, screeching down a mountain with only one very small problem, I have no idea how to turn or stop, so as I'm flying past Collette, and she reckons I looked very worried, I yelled for some advice and all she said was, "DIVE." Sound advice, so thats what I do, and by now I'm getting wet. I wait for her and then we set off together, the blind leading the blind, with me diving at the slightest bit of speed or bend in the piste. A million years later we eventually reach the bottom of this awful slope and it's finally over. Wrong. Theres a T-bar to get on so we wait in line till it's our turn. You're supposed to put the bar just under your bum and it drags you up, but I'm 6ft and Collettes about 5ft 5in, so the bar was either in the middle of her back or around my knees, and no one told me not to sit on the f***ing thing and we bounced around for a while until we fell off. I'm now getting really pissed off with all this, "Get me a helicopter," I demanded from Collete. She told me they don't just send them, you have to be hurt. I replied with, "I'll break my f***ing arm but I've gotta get off this mountain." Realising I'm not getting a copter I light a ciggie and ponder.
We agree to split up and go with someone our own height, so I ended up with a great German guy who was really helpful. Once on the T-bar I can see that it goes way up and I would have to ski back down to base camp, and in case you've forgotten, I can't ski, so I said that I was gonna bail out, and jumped off. I then head of in a straight line to the cable car, skis on the shoulder and wading through 3ft of snow in a pair of very heavy and very cold jeans. What seemed like hours of wading I make civilisation and head to the bar for a triple strength coffee and a triple scotch while everyone gawked at me cause I looked like I had a shower fully clothed. Yeah, I wanna do this again.
Dinner that night was great fun for the others cause they got to take the piss out of me. Their day will come. The rest of the nights activities shall remain sealed away, but a good time was had by one and all. The tour went smoothly and I try and put Zermatt behind me, except Collette, still to this day, takes great delight in telling everyone about it, and everytime she says it she makes me look more and more pathetic.
The next winter appears and I'm at home and the phone rings, "CT, wanna go skiing?" To which my reply was nothing like, "Oh I'd love to you fabulous little drummer boy." I can't believe he talked me into it again, but this time we were gonna do things correctly and go to Aviemore in Scotland and take lessons, this was the saving factor in his plan. So once again we pile into the Range Rover and aim north. We split the driving (for a change) and had a good journey up through the snow covered mountains till we get to the resort. A usual night was on the cards, dinner, drinks and bed, then up bright and early for some lessons and a good day on the slopes. This time we've both got the correct outfits so we head off to where our little group of idiot skiers are. We're all standing in a line, with Rog and me at the end, and each person gets to snow-plough a few feet. These clowns have less idea than my first try, and it's also incredibly cold and we've now got icicles hanging off our hair. It's our turn and we both look like olympic champions, but the only thing wrong with getting it right the first time is that the instructor then turns his attentions back to the start of the line. Here I am once again standing on the top of a mountain, freezing cold with two 'things' stuck on the end of a pair of stupid boots, and I inform His Royal Highness that the next trip away involves sand and sun, no excuses, end of argument. RT agreed that this wasn't much fun and thought my idea worth considering.
We finally heard the two magic words, "Lunch Break." We're gone in search of some good HOT food and a nice beaujolais, and we found both. We also found that the hotel bar had an amazing selection of whisky, and we had to try as many as possible. We're now semi pissed and decide that as we're warm we might as well go back to this lesson even though we are very late, and the instructor looked at us and said, "Where have you two been?" Rog came back with "Trying lots of your wonderful scotch's." He was fine with that answer and we carried on trying to learn something, and would you believe by the end of the day I could actually turn and stop.
Back to the hotel for a nap before dinner. Over a very nice meal and a couple of little drinkettes we agree that it's far to cold here and we'll clear off the next day, so into the bar we go with our earlier mission of trying all the scotch's. We were sitting at a table chatting away and cracking jokes with each other and end up talking to the couple on the next table, swapping skiing stories, needless to say mine were very short, and having a bit of a laugh, when the woman said, "What do you two do for a living?" God knows why, but I said; "We're Hoover salesmen." At first they didn't believe us but we both started going on about the difference between domestic and industrial cleaners, uprights, backpack types, ones you pull along the floor. We went on about the different wattage, suction power, the amount of pressure on Axminsters and Wilton carpets, even a couple of car expressions like overhead this and thats. What the hell do we know about vacuum cleaners? But boy are we good at this. After about 30 mins of utter bullshit the subject finally changed and they wished us all the best with our door to door salesmanship and off they went to bed. We then had to reassure each other what we actually did for a living, had some more drinks and tried to work out how we knew so much about cleaners as both of us have spent most of our lives trying to stay well away from them. We spent the drive back to London having a good laugh about the one day we spent in a Scottish ski resort.
Well that's it folks, the story of a small company, R & C Taylor,..... Hoover Salesmen. I did learn to ski quite well, and whilst in Gstadd doing the Shove it album Spike flew out cause he fancied learning to ski, and the fool asked me to teach him. I wasn't much help because everytime he fell over I burst out laughing cause I kept seeing myself in Zermatt, and Spike looked just as worried and stupid as I did.
Before I go I noticed that Jacky had to get her boiler fixed and said for me not to make a comment, but little things like that spark me off and I remembered that when we were recording in the Townhouse Studios I had a little, no a big affair with the studio chef. Every three months Virgin would do a magazine for all their staff, written by all the heads of various departments, airlines, studios, video, shops, films, etc. and they would say what was going on with their particular section. Alan Douglas, who was chief engineer of all Virgin studios wrote who was recording where, and he wrote, "Queen are in studio 4, and Crystal, their main man is stoking the kitchen boiler." I thought that was hilarious, but Jane went ballistic. That's it for now.

ZEP: MY ISSUES WITH “ZOEY”
Here’s a new  long analysis post for ZEP S1. This one is focused on Zoey, and the things that I have issues with...about the writing & the character:
Just me...dissecting & analyzing the storyline...with focus on Zoey & Team Max. But since the stories are so intertwined, there’s Zoey/dad & Zoey/Simon talk, too. Cause the so-called “love triangle” [the relationships between those three characters that they try to market as a love triangle] is one of my issues with the show.
WARNING: Very long post & possibly full of unpopular opinions.
I HAVE ISSUES...WITH “ZOEY” (READ: WRITING & CONTINUITY...)
                   ****************************************************
IMO Zoey is “unfair” with both men. She’s in such deep denial & even now that she’s learning empathy & be emotionally more available she’s still running from her feelings, cause she just doesn’t wanna deal with them (the truth). Every time when the three of them interact, she always claims that there’s nothing going on. She tells Simon that there’s nothing between her & Max, and they’re just friends. She tells Max that there’s nothing between her & Simon, and he’s just helping him with grief. She  tries to belittle the other man’s part in her life.
                   ****************************************************
She actually knows how she feels about both. She actually knows it all. (we’ve seen her reveal the truth to her mom & to Mo...in some scenes...so we know that what she tells the men is half-truths..at best) But she is doing everything in her power to deny it, and so she “denies” it also to the two men. But...in doing so she’s been unfair to both men, kinda leading them on. I understand that that’s done intentionally... and is supposed to be one of her “character flaws”. That she was (and still is) emotionally challenged, and the new superpower is here to help her learn empathy & make her understand others (and her own) emotions. But while I know what the intent of the writers is... I get a bit of different impression from the actual storyline...as I watch it. Cause...there is some “inconsistency” here.
                   ****************************************************
I did not get “Zoey sees Max in a new light, cause unlike Simon, who is stuck in the past, he’s now looking into future, and she needs that kind of “positivity” right now”. Instead I got the feeling that she’s not into him and how he’s become more confident and has a new outlook on life (all started with those peer reviews...), but his position of power. That she’s into the fact that he’s the boss. Cause she’s been fighting against “the universe” this whole time (however many days/months the events between the MRI & the Bad Moon Rising...took in their universe). And suddenly... (and it doesn’t feel like it’s cause she’s started to see the powers as something positive, or because she is accepting her loss, or dealing with her grief...it just feels like she’s being “superficial”) she finds him attractive.
                   ****************************************************
I mean... in 1x05, when she sees Max shirtless, she can’t stop staring. She wants that body. Then in 1x06, when Max goes after what he wants [this all started with the peer reviews] - the scooter, she finds that ”action” hot. Same in the finale, when he says he enjoyed being the boss, she finds him attractive. Drawn to “power figure, manly man stereotype”. It’s like Zoeys “Button’s moment”. She seems to lean toards the man, who shows...at the time...”confidence” & muscles.
                   ****************************************************
The other thing that makes her lean towards one of them is...”we’re just friends”. She wants what she can’t have. She wants more than the other person wants/offers. She starts really going after Simon..strong (obsessing over him) when he stays true to it not being ok to be more than friends, cause he’s engaged. After Simon says they should stay friends, she does not like that, and complains (to Mo) that the man doesn’t want to be more than friends. And she goes after him... to the point where she tries to hook up with him. Then when she & Max make up, and agree to start a fresh... and Max is all for friendship, she suddenly wants more, and goes after him... tries to hook up with him. When one of the two says that they should just be friends, she suddenly starts finding them irresistible & wanting more. That’s another sttange (planned or accidental) thing I noticed about S1...
                   ****************************************************
There is a very clear pattern in her behaviour throughout the season. And these are just a few of the “parallels” & patterns. And while very “human” & “real”, and “believable”...from someone grieving, emotionally challenged & “a mess”, none of this is “healthy behaviour”, or anything she should remain stuck in. Which is why they need to let it go... let the “triangle drama” rest.
                   ****************************************************
And I’ve kinda started questioning if the girl is just frustrated, and perhaps she just needs some, cause this time she came onto Max (who was all in for the “let’s be just friends for now” thing movie nights and stuff...), and she REALLY could not wait... no more...for him to finish the singing... It kinda made me question if she truly sees him a new light as she says, or is this her “Buttons” moment, and nothing else. I mean..we saw her try to use similar tactic with Simon... on her “anger phase day”. She was trying to use se* as a tool to deal with her anger. And this time it seemed like she was trying to use se* as a tool to deal with loneliness or frustration. However “real” and “human” that is... it’s not “good”. At times I truly think, based on her behaviour, that she just wants to get some...cause she seems to be unable to deal with..anything.. until she’s gotten that out of her system.
                   ****************************************************
She also does not seem to learn the lessons she gets. I mean.. Mo told her already in 1x04 that  “You’ll get better at using your superpower. As long as you see every failure not as defeat, but as a stepping stone on the road to success.”...yet she only got it & admitted it [in her speech to her dad] in the finale, 1x12. And also...she seems to not be so blind, and can help apply the lessons to others (giving Tobin the advice she got from Mo...about hard conversations between friends; helping Mo with Eddie...when her situation with Max is the same...as Mo points out). It does not seem “believable”...even if we apply the “she’s a grieving mess & emotionally challenged & running from her feelings & avoiding her own emotions” filter to her behaviour. It still doesn’t “fit”... she just goes back & forth...too much... and that makes it feel like it’s inconsistency in the writing [artificially created...delays & conflict], instead of it feeling as the writing probably means it to be - that its due to her “being a mess”.
                   ****************************************************
What I need from S2: for Zoey to be honest with both men. Stop being in denial, and admit her feelings to herself, and to them. How she feels abut each. Telling Max about her kisses with Simon. Telling Simon about her history with Max. And...unless they all agree that it doesn’t have to be two, but it could be three (polygamy), then she has to make a choice, and stop leading them both on. And I want the men to bond, and “demand” honesty from her....if the show really does intend to keep the “love triangle” going...as they claim in their S2 plans interviews. This is why I like both actors (and based on the finale scenes..both of their characters) take on the whole thing (they’re Team Zoey), and I don’t support what seems to be the showrunners & the networks take on the thing (that it’s a competition between the two & that love triangles are the greatest device in writing...)
                   ****************************************************
Cause right now the S1 finale actually put that to rest...during the last song (as we saw Simon admit he saw them together, and knows she's into Max, and shook his hand...cause he knows what he did...calling him to let him know about her dad.... and how selfless that was, and we saw how Max was there next to her throughout the last song... just a shoulder to lean on...without any pressure or anything. So...on screen the triangle thing was actually put to rest. (except for Zoey’s last talk with her dad...which happened before the funeral,  but still gave them the out to leave things open... to keep the non-existent competition between teams alive...cause network/showrunner love the idea of TS vs TM...to the level that I feel is dloing disservice to the characters and story)
                   ****************************************************
I’ve said it before... I know what their intent is (cause network TV is easy to read... even the best written shows still follow the same simple formula & rules), but I don’t get that on screen. But most of the “love triangle” thing does not feel to me like it being because Zoey is grieving or because she has low EQ. It just feels like she’s almost intentionally playing with the mens feelings. And I don’t appreciate that. Even if it comes from her only learning to empathize, and not being in touch with her feelings. From her not being able to handle feelings, and hence denying the feelings she has...fighting against feeling... It comes off as like her not just being unfair, but downright playing with Simon’s & Max’s feelings. Cause by now she knows how both of them feel. She has absolute clarity about their feelings...and they have no real clarity about hers.
They both had their moment(s) with her, but she has to have “hard conversations” with both of them...where she is completely honest with them. Yet she keeps telling Simon that there’s no need to be jealous of Max & her (and then goes and kisses him). And she keeps telling Max that she had no idea she had those feelings for Simon (and Max). When we know that there are two people who know...more of the truth... Maggie & Mo. Everyone else gets the tweaked truth.
                   ****************************************************
So yeah...while the intent most likely was that Zoey was clinging to Simon, and in the process of doing so (holding on to the past... cause she was not ready to let go of her dad, so she tried to keep the status quo by creating that grief bond with Simon), I haven’t truly sensed that from the season as a whole. And even though we & Zoey saw that while Simon was still clinging to the past in 1x10, while she has been slowly starting to let go, he seems to have started to move on, slowly, too, in 1x12 (or has he? Maybe it’s all one of his great pretender tactics...like being too cheery outside on a Tuesday morning...while singing “mad world” inside) . But...he still probably represents the past to Zoey. And Max represents the future. That was most likely their intent with the S1 finale Max and his optimistic outlook.
This all comes back to what Zoey told her mom in 1x04 about her connection with Simon: “He’s the only person who I can talk to about what I’m going through with dad. No one else understands, and I guess I'm worried that if I let it go, or let him go, then I... won’t ever feel this way again.” And interestingly enough for her, Max represents the opposite in the finale (especially). While her outlook so far has been - “how do I live without my dad?”, her best friends speech gave her a new outlook “one can experience failure or something bad happening, but still look forward to what’s to come”. The finales intent was most likely to say that she doesn’t feel like letting her dad go or letting the grief go means she won’t ever feel this way again. She can live without her dad, she will find love again...if she just opens up to the possibilities.
                   ****************************************************
In S2 I want the two men to bond, and ask her to make a choice. To stop being dishonest with them (and mostly herself). And since we saw the men talk to each other (when Max called Simon), and then saw them shake hands... we can hope that they kinda become “kinda friends”. They should both take a step back, and remove themselves from potential love interest roles...until she’s figured things out. Which can only happen after she’s had time to deal with her grief. Cause I’m not certain she’ll be able to stop playing her games even at this time, when her focus should (finally...after she ran from it all...during the whole time when her dad was still with them)  be only on grief & family. I don’t “trust” Zoey, but I believe in the two men. I see them being her friend at this time. But when she has gone through all the grief stages, they should have a talk...the three of them. And either they agree that “it could be three, not two” or they ask her to make a choice, and stop with her games. Finally be honest with herself, and them. Stop avoiding & running from her feelings.
                   ****************************************************
So... that is what I hope from the future. I mean...we didn’t get enough focus on her grief story, cause so much of the screentime was devoted to her dilemma about the two men that it took away so much focus from dad/daughter, and those stories and dynamics. And that was a shame. That she (the story) didn’t focus so much on how she deals (or doesn’t really deal) with the fact that she’s about to lose No 1 man in her life, her dad... and instead of focusing on herself, and her dad...the story almost seemed to evolve around her “choosing between the two men” (the so-called love triangle storyline)
                   ****************************************************
In the S1 finale we saw how Zoey saw Simon sing he’s jealous of her & her best friend. And she kept that to herself. Then we saw her come on to her best friend, who was there for thier friends movie night. And all that barely days/weeks after...her fights with both of them (all events between 107 & 111). And then we hear her tell her dad that she likes that her hot new co-worker likes her back, and she’s also proud that at the same time she “hooked up” with her best friend. And how that complicates things. When it’s her who is complicating things...which are really uncomplicated. She still has no clarity. She still hides from her feelings. She is still in denial. She still tries to pursue both. And she needs to stop that. She needs to tell her best friend about her relationship & feelings for the engaged man (tell him about the kisses etc) & she needs to tell the grieving & newly single man about her long history with her best friend, and what (almost) happened... the night the music died. She “owes” it to them.
                   ****************************************************
We all know what the shows endgame is, and it’s been clear since the start. To everyone...no matter which team you support or root for. And they’ve written the characters and the relationships differently enough to prove the point. Even with the heart song choices. And from the finale alone we see Simon sing that he’s jealous (of her taking her best friend to each cheesequakes...which he thinks is something only they did...that one time), while Max sang that she has all of him.  One song puts the feelings of the person first, the other puts the feelings of the person they sing to first. And we’ve seen that throughout the season, when Max’s songs have been love songs to her, while Simon’s songs have been more about his grief and his “inappropriate” (cause he was engaged) feelings for her. The songs alone reveal it all. Max songs and behaviour always put Zoey, his best friend, first (even during the times/episodes...when they were “taking a break”). His actions are selfless, and full of unconditional love. While Simon’s songs are more or less about his feelings, and what he needs from her (should he stay or go...considering he’s engaged; he’s jealous...of the other man who gets her attention..too).
                   ****************************************************
And I’ve said this before...many times, but it’s worth to repeat: the two men in her lives, and their stories, and her relationship with them are written differently..on purpose. Both represent ...something...to her. I’ve compared Simons & Zoey’s grief before, and said how she is taking the same steps he did, making the same mistake he did, walking the same path..without learning from his mistakes. But..hopefully the s1 finale finally put an end to that. Because it did showcase how he is stuck, and she has been stuck in the same way. By clinging to him, she tried to keep things as they were, but at the same time things were changing... as her dad’d health was chaning..and no matter how much she tried to deny it, avoid it... life happens.
I’ve said how she projects, and she definitely did that with Simon. And...unless they want to have her character stuck, and not have character growth, and be on the path to move on...there is no way they can keep up the love triangle or keep her relationship with Simon the same. Cause that means she’s going backwards, not forwads. And the S1 finale seemed to establish that she’s starting to see the world in new colours. And interstingly enough it took for her best friend, Max, to get through to her (Mo, Maggie, and others have tried...before..but it hasn’t clicked with her...til now), and so I think that they need to continue developing their friendship in S2. His optimistic outlook is what Zoey needs right now. (also... cannot wait for the episode when we hear Max sing “True Colours” to Zoey...oh the parallels...)
Choosing Simon now, after S1 end would mean that Zoey is going down Simon’s path - being stuck in grief, & that’s not what the intention is. To quote Simon from 1x10: “he’s jealous of his mom, cause she was able to move past the pain of loss & grief and she fond the joy...in life...again”. And since Z/S dialogue/story always kinda “parallels” the Z/M storyline, then her words can be applied to herself & Max, too, here. She tells him to go after that joy then...to realize it’s not as far as one might think. If she’d apply that to her own situation with Max, then she’d realize that for her (finding) the joy...again...is to realize it’s not as far as she thinks, cause for her her best friend reprsents that joy.
                  ****************************************************
So she either chooses Simon (grief, being stuck, past...cause even though they were making Simon start to move past ...all...that), then as a choice he represents clinging to the past for her. Or she chooses Max (joy, moving past the grief, not making the same mistakes again, and choosing to go the other way/seeing things from other perspective from now on). And we saw her admit that shes “going the other way” with her look on her powers...during her speech to her dad. Yet, she still didn’t apply the same logic to her situation with the two men... cause Simon = choosing grief & Max = choosing joy.
But...the love triangle can only remain exising if she’ll choose Simon for now. If she’ll be not taking the advice she has gotten, and if she will “wallow in her grief" instead of focusing on “healing”. So...the only question is...how much in denial is she? How scared of the truth, and her own feelings/emotions is she? Will she cling to the past & we’ll see her repeat every mistake she saw Simon make (and she didn’t like... based on snapping at him “you’re still stuck” in 1x10). So...based on these lines alone (bits of dialogue from 1x10 & 1x12 especially: which way she chooses...like which way she chooses to look at her powers), and the lines each sang during the final number... the road back to joy is choosing Max. And yet that choice would (thankfully) end the so-called love-triangle. And I’m not sure the showrunner wants to choose that options. I think their intent is to focus on the LONG grief process, and milk it to the max. ;)
                  ****************************************************
What I also need from S2: Seeing Simon really start working on his grief - seeing a therapist, continue on the path we saw starting in 1x11 & 1x12. Seeing Zoey take the time to actually grieve, and take time for herself (what Max told her to do...for now)..before she even starts thinking of dealing with her “complicated love triangle issues”. Seeing her stop being in denial, and admit her feelings to herself, and be honest with each man.  And ending this love triangle thing. Instead we need more focus on Mitch impact on Zoey. (via “flashbacks” & “dreams”...where we see her spend time with her dad).
We need to see her relationships with each man, but without any romantic context. And she needs to apologize to both men...for her behaviour...even if they understand it was her grief anger. She really needs to acknowledge her behaviour, and she can do that best if she starts being honest with them. With her speech to her dad she took the first step... and as I predicted it’ll take losing her dad for real for her to start seeing the power as something positive, not negative. (but she also tries to be in a three-person relationship with both men..without admitting this to herself or them...and that’s not good)
                   ****************************************************
I’m not sure if it’s just the network or does the showrunner himself truly like the love triangle. Because it’s the one aspect of the show that turns me away & makes me dislike the main character...and hence the show. It doesn’t feel “organic” anymore, it doesn’t feel like a growing story...it feels like the storyline is telling us one thing, but then someone comes in and adds a bit that doesn’t fit into the storyline. That’s how the love triangle thing feels by now. It’s like the writer has one idea, but then the network adds notes, and demand they be added...and they don’t fit...THAT’S what I think & feel when they have “Zoey debate between the two”.
                   ****************************************************
This is why I love the actors (Skylar & John) take so much. They both want to respect the character, and dare I say...they don’t seem to be into the idea of Zooey being “the prize” that their character have to “fight for”.  She is not that. They also all seem to acknowledge that each charater still needs to grow individually, and then and only then is Zoey gonna be ready to make her decision (after S & Z have gone through phases of grief, and done some therapy & after Max has figured out his new place in the world...), and I have mad respect for the two men. And I hope the message gets through also to the writers, showrunner & network. That they need to shift the focus, and let Zoey grieve...until they add the “love triangle drama” to the story. Only...unless it’s an actual agreement between all three that they’ll choose poly, there needs to be no actual “love triangle” & she has to choose - does she want the “for now = S.” or does she need the “forever = M.” Will she repeat her past mistakes & go for the overly complicated choice, or do as she planned...and take it slow & go for the right... “forever” guy.
                   ****************************************************
The other thing that I need from S2 is something I have complained was missing from S1: team work. In the sense that Zoey needs to trust people more, and let them help her & learn to lean on others. This “character flaw” was introduced already in ep 2, when Joan told Zoey: “Listen...as talented as you are, you can't take on these projects all by yourself. It's unsustainable.” The same applies to her personal life/storyline. She needs to trust her team (friends: Max, Mo & family: mom) more. So while S1 was mostly about each characters individual growth...as little as we sadly saw it (amidst the drama-lama), then S2 needs to shift focus on her support system, and show how she has learned to lean on others, and how she doesn’t try to go through it all alone. So..friendship (and romance) with Max, with Simon (I wish he wasn’t in the picture & they’d bring in someone else/new... but I know he’s gonna be there for the grief-bond, so...), with Mo...
                   ****************************************************
We saw her have moments with Max (the advice he gave to her about going & talking to her dad..at the end on 1x08) & Joan (the advice she gave her in 1x11, when she told her about her own mom & her story). And surprise-surprise... there was no need for the other person to have gone through what she was/has gone through (dad dying) to be able to understand her, talk to her, give good advice, be there for her.
                   ****************************************************
And I want to see her bond more with others... even if they don’t have the same experience as she does. Because one of the things I don’t understand about the shows claims is... how they seem to claim (the show, the character) that no one else besides the people, who have lost their dad (or are losing the same person..her dad...their husband...) would understand. That one has to have gone through the exact esperience to be able to understand them. This is why I never undrstood what they were trying to tell with Zoey/Simon grief-bond. Because... even if both lost their dads, their experiences are different, so neither can truly understand the others experience...no better than anyone else (who hasn’t had the same loss) would. But...also-...most adults have experienced loss (grandparent, friend, parent...), so to assume that no-one else would understand... is strange to me. Yet...they kept it up til the finale. And in my own exprience the best support system is not the person, who has had the same experience, but the person who is simply there for you, who wants to help. It does not require similar experience for others to understand you/get you. You don’t need a mirror to look at, you need just someone who cares, and is simply present.
I have examples from my own life. I have examples from people I know. For example my childhood friend, who helped her then boyfriend (now husband) though a hard time. They met in HS, and they’ve been together since then (we’re all over 35 now). Her man lost both of his parents very young...with just a few months apart..when they were in Uni & had been together just a few years. And she had not yet been though such close loss yet (by now she is...her dad died before mine did), yet... you could say that she was his rock, and helped him through the time...the most. And they are one of the strongest couples I know. So it has been so strange for me to watch the season & interviews where it’s constantly mentioned that no-one else would understand Zoey...when I don’t think that’s true. When I know, for a fact, that that’s not true.
                    ****************************************************
Team Max or Team Simon:
Now.. I’ve come to realize that the answer to the question “Team Max or Team Simon” depends on a persons take on certain..things. And sometimes even depending on how peope view the actors that portay the characters.  And everyone can have their own opinion on this, and they should. And I know many of us agree (on both sides) that the season should’ve focused more on Team Zoey & that next season needs more focus on each characters growth individually...
But...there is one thing I do not agree with from people who are not Team Max. And those are claims that Max is selfish, and rude towards Zoey. That how he acted after the flash mob rejection...and until they made up at the end of 1x11, was “acting out”....unfairly. That is the one thing I don’t agree with at all.
Yes, just like Zoey (and Simon, and everyone else) Max has his character  flaws. And we certainly saw them in S1. But... unlike so many, I don’t think that he was OOC during the middle/end of the season (eps 7-11), which many have mentioned. Even Max fans. I find these POVs...interesting. Cause I interestingly did not find his behaviour such..

Too Young to Fall in Love Chapter 9 (Dirt!Nikki x Reader)
Tumblr media
Title: Too Young to Fall in Love 9
Summary: Nikki Sixx was a hard partying musician on the strip. He never expected to fall in love with anyone, until a girl knocked on his dressing room door looking for a ride home and took his breath away. Just like everything else Nikki did; the drugs, the money, the music; Nikki went hard with love. (Y/n) Bass never expected the bassist of Motley Crue to be the one to shake her calm and calculated life up. She had a plan. Graduate school, become an epic producer, and watch from behind the scenes as her brother’s band rose to fame. Nikki and (Y/n) were perfect for each other, too bad her brother, Tommy, didn’t think so.
Series warnings:  Smut (18+ Please), drug use, language, referenced miscarriage, drug overdose, mentioned attempted suicide, out of character moments for everyone in the band, the timeline might be a little screwy but it’s fanfiction! I know nothing of music production and my medical knowledge is really screwy, so it won’t be accurate.

She was waiting outside, looking down at her shoes like it was the most interesting. She was about to turn and head back in to check the time. Of course he wouldn’t show up. Why would he?
“Shit.” Nikki grumbled as he pulled up by the sidewalk.  Leaving the car idling, he ran up to her and gently grabbed her hand, making her turn and look at him. “Sorry! I’m so sorry! Tommy borrowed my car to get gas for his bike and then he lost my keys and I was looking for them and by the time I found them, it was after 6 o’clock. I
if you want to cancel I can understand, but please let me make it up to you for being late?” Nikki rambled as he looked down at the ground in shame.
"Oh Nikki, I was scared that you changed your mind." She looked away. "That Tommy sounds like fun."
“Like a snake bite,” Nikki sighed. “I’m really sorry, I understand if you don’t want to see me again,” Nikki breathed. He felt like a failure, he let her down.
"Of course I want to see you silly boy." She smiled at him. "Off we go?" She held her hand out for him.
Nikki gave her a bright smile, “Let’s go sweet girl,” he pulled her in for a sweet deep kiss. “Lets go catch our movie first and then dinner.”
He helped her into the car and drove off towards the movie theater.  The opted to see The E.T the Extra Terrestrial, and Nikki found himself liking the movie and loving (Y/n) snuggling up to him. They were sharing a bag of popcorn and there were few times where their hands reached at the same time. NIkki let her eat most of it. He kissed her head during the movie letting her know he was enjoying her company.  It didn’t take long before he gently pulled her face up and began kissing her deeply. His hand cupped her face before running his fingers rently through her hair.
(Y/n)felt herself pressing up against him and giving a soft sigh. Nikki smirked against her lips at the sounds she made. Kissing her again he felt his heart pound in his chest and the bulge in his pants get bigger.  Shifting slightly to fix himself he broke the kiss and touched his nose against hers.
“I hope Chinese is ok for dinner,” he whispered to her.
“I love Chinese food.” (Y/n) smiled. “It’s like you can read my mind.”
“What can I say,” Nikki kissed her again. “I know what my girlfriend likes,” he realized his words and blush. “That is if you want to be
 mygirlfriend.” he rushed.
“Mr. Sixx, did you just ask me to be your girlfriend?” (Y/n) laughed.
“Yes
unless you think it’s too fast and i’m not good enough
 and
.” Nikki felt her lips on his, shutting him up.
“I would love to be your girlfriend Nikki Sixx.” She smiled at him.
As soon as the movie was over they made their way to the Chinese restaurant. Once at a booth Nikki relaxed and smiled.
“So, you have siblings, and they sound kind of
I don’t know, mean?” Nikki shrugged. “I don’t know how anyone who cannot appreciate that brain of yours.”
“My siblings are kinda idiots,” (Y/n) laughed. “My sister is smarter than my brother. Nessa likes to say that mom and dad were saving all the brains for me.” She sighed. “I just wish I was as cool as them.”
“You are cool,” Nikki argued. “I mean hey, you listen to us and Aerosmith, and I’m sure you listen to other artists I haven’t mentioned that are pretty cool.” NIkki reached for her hand as he shoveled a spoonful of fried rice into his mouth.
“The Beatles are my favorite band,” She shrugged. “My brother teases me, but I cried so hard when John Lennon died.”
“You and me both sweet girl,” Nikki said and smiled at her. “Your brother sounds like he doesn’t know good music even if it hits him in the ass.”
“Oh, I’m telling him that.” She laughed. “He’d probably go pout and blair his old Led Zeppelin records.”
Nikki laughed but forgot he was eating and almost choked on his food. Taking a sip of water and cleared his throat, “Your brother is lame to make fun of you but listen to Zep!”
“Right?” She took a sip of her drink. “I can appreciate all kinds of different music. Just not classical. Not too big on it.” She smiled at him. “Besides yourself, what’s your favorite band?”
“Well, Zeppelin is one, then you got Queen, Leapard, Ramones, Kiss.” Nikki smiled.
“God, I would love to go see Queen.” (Y/n) said. “Freddie Mercury has better eyelashes and makeup than I do though.” She laughed. “But, I think your makeup is pretty good too.”
NIkki chuckled, “Maybe I can score us some tickets when they come by.” (Y/n) smiled at him.
“Do you have a gig tomorrow night?” (Y/n) asked. “My brother wants to hang out and...I just wanna make sure I don’t miss anything.”
“Yeah, we’re playing at Whiskey tomorrow,” Nikki said. “Best part is we live right down the street from it,” he put money on the table for their food. They got up and headed out.
“That’s convenient.” (Y/n) laughed. “Bet it’s party central there.”
“Sometimes,” Nikki shrugs, “But the parties are boring without you.”
“I never was one for big parties. My brother and sister used to make me hang out in my room when they threw house parties, or they sent me off to Nessa’s. Think that’s when I started falling in love with muric.” She shrugged.
“Well, I think you would be a party animal,” Nikki said as he pulled her close as he walked with her along the street. “I want to kiss you so bad right now.”
“Who’s saying you can’t?” (Y/n) asked with a smile. “Might be the last time you get to before your bandmates interrupt us.”
“I got the best spot for us,” he smiled. “Come on”
“Where are we going?” (Y/n) asked as Nikki led her down the street. Nikki led her to his car and drove her to the Hollywood sign.
“I figured we can get a nice view,” he said as he parked the car and helped her out. Lifting her by her waist he sat her on the hood and sat by her. “What do you think?”
“It’s beautiful.” She said, looking out of Los Angeles. “I’ve done day hikes up here, but never night. It’s gorgeous.”
NIkki was looking at her, “Yeah it is.” he smiled.
“Have you ever wanted to leave California?” (Y/n) asked him, staring down at the lights.
“I was born in San Jose, Mom moved around alot had a lot of shitty step-dads when my dad split.”  he sighed and looked at the scenery. “My childhood wasn’t a happy one.” She reached out and held his hand.
“I know my siblings were mean to me, but I can only imagine what you went through.” She leaned against him. “I hope that I can make you happy now though.”
“You already are making me happy sweet girl,” he whispered as he pulled her in for a kiss. One hand cupped her face, the other wrapped around her waist. “I feel like i’m falling real hard and fast for you (Y/n) I can’t explain it.”
“I think I might be falling for you too.” (Y/n) admitted, leaning in to kiss him again.
Nikki let his hands roam her body as his fingers found their way under her shirt. His lips moved from her mouth to her jaw, to her ear, and then down her neck. (Y/n) moaned softly, but slowly pushed him back.
“Nikki, I really like you, I do...but...I never...you know
” She looked down, ashamed.
“You mean you’re a...oh
OH!” Nikki caressed her cheek and moved her face so he could gaze into her eyes. “That just means I would need to plan a date in a more comfortable spot away from the guys.”  Nikki rasped. “That is if you still want to be with me
 I won’t pressure you
 I mean it’s your choice.”
‘I want to,” She told him. “Maybe a couple more dates?” She asked, afraid he’d be upset.
“Sounds like a plan,” he smiled as he brought her in for a kiss. “How about I take you home?”
“Sounds great.” She smiled and slid off the hood with him. “Thank you for tonight.”
“Anything for my girl,” he said helping her into the car and driving her home holding her hand the whole way. He pulled up at the dorm.
“Thank you Nikki.” She smiled at him. “I had a great time. And I’ll be at the concert tomorrow night, barring inconvenience. I don’t have any classes tomorrow after my 8 am.”
“Maybe I can sneak away for a few to come make out with you?” Nikki wiggled his eyebrows as he parked next to the sidewalk to her dorm. Leaning over he pulled her in for another kiss. “Sorry, I just can’t help myself.”
“I think I’d love that.” She kissed him again. “I can’t get enough of that.”
“Ok, I’ll see what I can do just tell me where you’ll be at and I can meet you.” Nikki smiled kissing her again.
“Okay.” She kissed him one more time. “I probably should get in. Thank you for everything again Mr. Sixx.”
“Ok, sweet girl.” he whispered before kissing her again. “I’ll call you when I get to my apartment just to make sure you’re ok.” he whispered.
“I might be asleep, so please don’t be upset if I don’t answer.” (Y/n) told him. “Goodnight Nikki.” She kissed his cheek and headed towards the door, where Vanessa was waiting.
Nikki drove off towards his home as Vanessa ushered Y/N to her dorm. “So...how was it?”
“Amazing.” (Y/n) said dreamily. “I really like him Nessa. Would you want to go see Motley Crue tomorrow night? Athena might want to go too.”
“Does that mean I get to meet the infamous Vince Neil?” she said. “Rumor has it he’s really good in bed.”
“Sure, we’ll set you up.” (Y/n) laughed. “Let’s go get some sleep. I’ve got an 8 am.” They headed to Vanessa’s room. She had a double room, but no room mate. “I need to tell him I don’t really live here.”
“Do it sooner rather than later,” she sang. “So how should I dress tomorrow?”
“Jeans and I’ll let you borrow one of my band tees.” (Y/n) told her. “You’ll knock him dead.”
“That sounds like a plan,” Vanessa sighed as she gave (Y/n) some PJ's to sleep in. “So
are you and Nikki going to
. have a deflowering ceremony?” she batted her eyes at (Y/n).
“Oh my god.” (Y/n) groaned. “We talked about it. I think he wanted to tonight and I told him I’d never...and he seemed okay with waiting.” She sighed. “He’ll probably just find another girl on the side, right?”
“I wouldn’t hold my breath,” Vanessa smiled. “He seems happy with you.”

Please Don’t Be a Mistake. Chapter 8.
Tumblr media
Summary: Dean and Sam get thrown into the french mistake once again. This time they reunite with one of their old friends who died three years back on a hunt sacrificing herself for them. She just so happens to be Dean’s old love. How will he react to seeing her alive in this alternate world after so many years of mourning and not being able to fully move on?
Story Note: This series is based in season 10.
Pairing: Dean x Reader
Word Count: 3100+
Chapter 8:
Dean and Sam answered all of Y/N’s questions that she threw at them while they went through more books and websites together. Which was a lot.
After she got all the answers she needed with what they were doing now, and how they got here again, she switched to just asking about their lives.
She came to the realization that all the shit that had happened via to Jensen and Jared when acting, had actually happened to them. She couldn’t even imagine the pain, loss, and grief they felt with everything that had happened throughout their lives.
“Holy hell...” she breathed out after they unloaded a lot of their story on her. “How are you two still standing?”
Dean chuckled softly as he flipped a page in the book, and Sam had a small grin on his face.
“I ask myself that same question every day sweetheart. But hey! We are still standing, so we have to keep fighting, hmm?” he hummed, looking up at her sad eyes.
“No,” she said simply, making the boys snap their head to her. She turned back to the book in front of her casually.
“What was that?” Dean chuckled confused.
“No, you don’t have to keep fighting,” she said looking up. They just gave her a blank stare. She rolled her eyes and slouched over the book as she took in a deep breath. “Listen, I’ve always wanted to tell Dean and Sam Winchester that their world does not have to weigh on their shoulders. Of course, I never thought I would actually be able to do it considering you are fictional characters here,” she mumbled the last half to herself.
“Y/N/N what are you-” Sam started.
“Actually, you know what. Since you are here. Listen up, Winchesters,” she said sternly, making them raise their eyebrows and look at each other before turning back to her. “I understand that there is almost a constant battle happening in your home world. I get it. It sucks. Truly, I hate that that’s something you have to deal with. I wish I could come over there and take every ounce of bad thats there and fight it for you,” she sighed. “But you don’t have to take it upon yourself to solve every problem. When things are going well, and nothing big and bad is walking around, take time for yourselves. Go see the Grand Canyon. Visit Niagara Falls. Go watch one of your favorite bands in concert. Led Zep still performs, you know?” she said pointing to Dean who just tweaked his head in surprise. “I mean look at you. Look at what you two have done for that world. You deserve a little down time and fun.”
“Y/N, it’s not that easy-,” Dean started.
“It is. You just don’t want to see it as that easy because you’re afraid if you have your eyes focused on those things, you won’t be ready for the bad guys.”
The brothers took a minute to digest the thoughts Y/N threw at them. She wasn’t wrong, but that just wasn’t how their lives worked.
“Ok. I can see the gears turning. Everything I just said will probably get looked over and not thought of again. I just needed to say it so you can hear it,” she shook her head, getting up and walking to the couch. “Knowing you two, your life is how it is and you won’t change it. Hunting and saving people will always be the family business,” she smiled before settling down. “And for that I’m sure a ton of people are grateful, but please
Remember to pamper yourself every once and awhile. For your mental health and my own at least?”
“Why do you care Y/N? You don’t even actually know us,” Dean mumbled, hurting himself saying those words and watching her get comfortable on the couch.
“I know you a lot better than you think. And I care because I love both of you boys. You deserve better,” she smiled softly.
The brothers returned the smile feeling like they were having a moment with their Y/N. She always pushed them to take care of themselves, but something always came up before they could.
Dean was still trying to comprehend hearing her say that she loved him again. The last time she said that
She was seconds away from death. This? This was eye opening for him.
Y/N let out a loud yawn as she covered her mouth.
“Ok, now that I got some of my spule out, I’m going to take a nap.” She stretched widely, adjusting the pillow and grabbing a blanket. “A girl can only run on fumes for so long.”
“Get some rest Y/N/N. We’ll be here when you wake up,” Sam smiled.
“Hopefully not for too long,” she winked before laying her head down and cuddling into the sofa.
“Yeah, not for too long,” Dean said quietly, wishing the opposite.
He watched her adjust a few more times before she found a comfortable spot and eventually he saw her breathing slow. He watched her fall into a gentle sleep and couldn’t help the sad smile that formed on his lips.
It was just like old times. Sammy and him researching, and after hours of digging herself, Y/N knocked out on the couch or Dean’s bed before coming back to help more.
This was going to be harder for him to say goodbye than he thought.
__
Y/N woke up later to the boys arguing. At first, she was going to get up and yell at them for being too loud, but when she heard what they were yelling about, she froze and stayed in her spot.
“I get that Sam, but come on!” Dean shouted, but paused hearing how loud he was and switched to a shouting whisper instead. “One more day won’t kill us!”
“Listen Dean. I understand you want to stay and have a little more time with Y/N, but-” he ran a hand through his hair and sighed. “You know we can’t. There are things in our world that we need to take care of. We can’t just leave it all behind.”
“But think about what Y/N said. We deserve some time to be happy. Besides, I’m not saying we leave our world behind, I’m just saying we wait one more day before we go back to it,” Dean tried sympathizing. “Our problems are always going to be there. They ain’t leaving anytime soon!”
“Dean-”
“Come on man. When’s the last time we allowed ourselves some joy in our lives?”
Never. Y/N thought as she eavesdropped.
“I don’t know man-” Sam groaned after a long pause.
“Exactly. I don’t know either. We can’t seem to catch a break. Every time it seems something calms down and is under control, something else pops up!” Dean shouted talking with his hands.
“Yeah
” Sam said starting to agree.
“So please. I’m asking just for one more day before we try this spell.” Y/N heard Dean plead with his brother. “One more day with her.”
She couldn’t see them, but she could feel their eyes on her figure. She hadn’t thought about it too much, but poor Dean was just aching for some time with Y/N because he was seeing the love of his life after all these years. Her heart hurt for him. She knew what it felt to lose someone who you loved with all your heart and she would never wish that on anyone else. Especially Dean Winchester.
She heard Sam let out a long breath through his nose.
“Fine. Yes, ok, fine. We can stay for one more day, but after that
We have to go home Dean. Our home,” Sam said, giving in.
“One day Sammy. One day is all I need,” Dean smiled even though he wished he could stay so much longer.
Y/N found this as her entrance to sit up and show she was waking up.
She exaggerated her stretch and tousled her hair to the side as she sat up. She turned seeing the brothers watching her with soft smiles on their faces.
“Hey. How long was I out?” she yawned, running a hand down her shirt to smooth it out.
“Just a little over two hours sweetheart,” Dean said kindly as he moved closer to and perched himself on the arm rest of the couch. “Sleep well?”
“Yeah, actually. I forgot how comfortable this couch was. Especially when we-” she grinned looking down at it, but stopped when she saw where she was headed. She snapped her head up seeing Dean with a devilish grin on his face. “When we, uh, took naps. Naps. Really good naps,” she saved, attempting to catch her mistake.
“Sound like life changing naps,” Dean said, smugly raising an eyebrow.
“Life changing indeed,” she mumbled to herself.
“What was that?”
“Nothing! Nothing!” She said shooting up. “I’m actually starving! Are you guys hungry?” she asked, changing the subject quickly making both men laugh to themselves. “We can go down to the food tent and see what food truck they have for us today. I heard it was something taco related.”
“Umm, yeah sure. I can go for some food,” Dean agreed, standing up with her. “Sammy you hungry?”
“I’m not that-”
“They have a salad bar and a mediterranean buffet too,” Y/N smirked at Sam as she adjusted her jacket.
“Mediterranean? Like humus, gyros, and-”
“Protein bowls, cauliflower rice bowls, falafel, kabobs
You name it, it’s probably there,” she laughed closer to the door with Dean on her heels. “You coming?” she grinned knowing she had him hooked.
“Uh, yeah, yeah! For sure!” he said, putting the book down and standing from his chair quickly walking to them.
Y/N and Dean shared a small victory grin before walking out of the trailer.
It had gotten warmer since Y/N came over, and the jacket she were wearing was only making the heat worse. She quickly shrugged it off, and tied it around her waist. Dean took note how well the tank top she was wearing fit, and couldn’t help but stare at how her collar bone showed, and even how toned her shoulders were. He didn’t remember her being that muscular.
“What are you staring at, Winchester?” Y/N said without even looking at him, but still had a smirk playing on the corner of her lips.
He quickly redirected his eye line in front of him and cleared his throat, embarrassed that he got caught.
“Nothing, nothing. I just-” he chuckled. “Nothing.”
“I wasn’t as muscly the last time you saw me, hmm?” she hummed.
“No
No, you weren’t,” he laughed at how she had picked up on his thoughts. “What changed?”
“New shows. New fitness requirements. You have to be a little more toned if you’re going to be doing fighting scenes and flips and tricks almost everyday on the job,” she smiled, walking with pride.
“Impressive. I mean not that you couldn’t do that before, but... Wow,” he hummed, staring again.
“Yeah, Y/N. You look like you can bench almost as much as me now,” Sam joined in laughing as well.
“I can lend you my workout if you want Sammy. But, I’m not too sure you can handle it,” she playfully nudged him.
Sam smiled happily. She was really no different from the Y/N they knew. She had just as much fire, banter, and sass in her as they were used to.
“Here we are,” she motioned, walking up to the truck. She caught eye of an employee that was waving at her and smiled waving back. “Pick what you want and find a seat. I’m going to go talk with Cindy over there and I’ll be right back.”
The boys were hesitant being left on their own, but they went about their business as normal as possible. No one asking questions luckily, but instead being friendly and helpful.
They were about five bites in when Y/N came back with a taco bowl in hand.
“So, turns out they got some things up and running again on set,” she huffed sitting down next to Dean and across from Sam. “But since they sent a lot of people home, they aren’t wanting to do any major scenes that require lots of cast or crew.”
“So we still don’t have to act?” Dean asked with his mouth full.
“No, you don’t have to act,” Y/N smiled, handing him a napkin to help with the condiments on the corner of his mouth. He accepted the gesture and smiled at her once he clean up. “Me on the other hand, I have to work. Cindy, one of our producers, was saying after I eat to head to wardrobe and makeup to get ready for a small scene,” she huffed before taking a bite of food.
“How long do you think it will take?” Sam asked.
“Not sure. It’s a relatively short scene, so hour to two depending on how well it all flows.”
“Flows?” Dean asked, mouth full again.
“Yeah, acting isn’t easy. Have to get in the right headspace and hit the right marks, all while trying to remember your lines and deliver them correctly.” She took a bite, and like Dean, started eating with her mouth full. “And that’s just the main steps. That’s not including all the little details.”
Sam shook his head with a grin watching Dean and Y/N.
“I swear. You two are the same,” he sighed, taking another bite of his food.
“How?” Y/N and Dean said in unison with both of their mouths full.
Sam gave them the signature resting bitch face and looked between the two.
Y/N snorted and put her hand over her mouth seeing what Sam was getting at. She took the last few bites of her meal that she had, ate quickly, and stood up.
“Ok boys, I should be done soon. I’ll come back to your trailer when I’m finished and check in on you,” she explained, placing a hand on Dean’s shoulder as she looked between them. He looked down at the contact and relished in the feeling is was giving him. “Try to stay out of trouble. And by that, I mean stay out of sight. We don’t need people asking you questions you can’t answer.”
“Wait!” Dean said stopping her just before she would lift her hand. “What if we came to the set? We can watch,” he suggested sweetly, hoping she would comply.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea Dean,” she said kindly, but her mood changing to a sadder sense. “I mean it’s about your life. If you guys are going back home, you- you don’t need spoilers.”
There was an awkward pause as things starting to become more clear for Sam and Dean.
“I-” Dean started.
“I’ll catch you guys in a couple of hours,” she waved, walking away quicker. “If you need anything, text!” she shouted once she was good distance away.
When she was closer to the makeup trailer, she started cussing to herself. Had she said too much? I mean they had to know she was coming back, which meant their Y/N was coming back. Right? They knew how to pick up on clues, but they weren’t showing any signs of curiousness in what she was doing there. They were just accepting it.
“Maybe they’re in denial
” she talked to herself, walking up the steps. “They have to know somethings up
” She took a deep breath pondering her thoughts before walking in for her makeup, and quickly pushed those thoughts in the back of her head. She needed to put on a face that everything was fine.
__
“You catch that?” Dean asked, turning to his brother once Y/N was out of sight.
“The weird, trying to avoid a very obvious problem tension?” Sam retorted, stirring his food in his bowl. “Yeah, I caught that.”
“What do you think it means?” Deans said, suddenly losing his appetite and putting the food down before brushing his hands off and pushing the plate away.
“You know what it means Dean. Like I said, it’s obvious.”
“Yeah, but I don’t really want to say it out loud.”
“Neither do I, but I think it needs to be.” Sam shrugged, pushing his food away too. Dean let out a long exasperated sigh. “Y/N’s coming back. Into our lives. The question is, for how long and how?”
“I can’t really say. She was telling me about all the different shows she’s doing, so this could just be a one time episode and we lose her all over again,” Dean said feeling depressed once again. “I-I can’t handle that man. Why do these writers want to mess with our lives so much? I mean can’t we have one consistent happiness that doesn't get ripped from us?”
“That doesn’t sound like our lives,” Sam laughed harshly. “I don’t know man. I really don’t. Y/N hasn’t really talked about any scenes she’s doing, so who knows how we get Y/N back in our world.”
“I know. For all we know she could come back as a shifter, ghost, doppelgĂ€nger
 The list goes on.”
“Not a ghost. We gave her a hunter's funeral,” Sam corrected.
“Yeah
I guess not. Well, with the options left, it doesn’t sound like the outcome we would be wanting,” Dean huffed.
Sam caught onto his brother’s mood change and felt pity for him. He had been reunited with the love of his life, and it was all about to be taken away in an extremely crappy way most likely.
“Hey, we don’t know man. She could come back as our Y/N.”
“You said it yourself. We torched her bones. She’s not coming back from that,” Dean said placing his head in his hands.
“Ok, but what if she does. I mean we’ve broken a lot of rules. Maybe this is one of those,” Sam offered, trying to stay positive for his brother, but even he was having a hard time believing it.
“I appreciate you trying to make me feel better and give me some sense of hope, but things don’t seem to work in our favor over things like this Sammy. As much as I want to believe she’s coming back
I have a hard time believing it's for good and really our Y/N.”
“Dean-”
“You know? I’m actually a little tired. I didn’t sleep much last night with everything going on and we’ve spent most of today researching. I think a nap is in order,” Dean said, standing and shrugging his shoulders like he was trying to shake out of the funk he was just put in.
“Are you sure?” Sam asked, standing and grabbing their trash.
“Positive. I’m gonna head back to the trailer.”
Without another word, Dean made his was to sleep away his thoughts, and Sam followed behind hating seeing his brother so defeated.

OK BUUUUUUUT I don’t have enough high school Destiel in my life lately, so here...HAVE SOME HIGH SCHOOL DESTIEL!
So Dean transfers to Central High School at the start of his junior year, brand new and handsome with the sharp jawline and bright green eyes, and oh-so-mysterious with those brooding stares and leather jacket.
Cas, on the other hand, has been in the county’s school system since pre-school—same classes with the same kids for so many years. There’s nothing mysterious in the least about his wide gummy smiles and bulky sweater vests, always paired with askew glasses and perpetual bed head. Which, on some people would be sloppy, but on him, it’s all kind of...adorable.
Right off the bat, Dean’s earning quite a bit of attention from guys and girls alike, all staring at him with desire or glaring with jealousy. There are, of course, a few people who immediately try to ingratiate themselves to him, but he‘s met these kinds before—they always try to wiggle their way in, bathe in that new-kid spotlight with their too-bright smiles and too-loud voices.
And yet, between all the first-day, back-to-school outfits and makeup and hairstyles, all the flirtatious smiles and overt greetings...there’s one person who stands out to oh-so-cool, mysterious Dean Winchester: the disheveled kid with the gummy smile who grins at him from three lockers away and quickly tosses out, “I’m Cas. Lemme know if you need anything!” before rushing off to his next class.
A friendly interaction that’s not too overbearing is exactly what Dean needs, and he finds himself glancing over at that locker throughout the day, hoping for another moment. Turns out that, even though he never quite catches Cas at his locker, he does see him when he walks into the last class of the day (physics).
Cas already has several other students around him, laughing and joking as they discuss their summers, but as soon as Cas sees Dean, he pats the desk behind him in invitation. Dean smiles gratefully as he settles his long frame into the small desk, surprised yet grateful for the unexpected show of friendship.
They fall into conversation easily, almost as if they’ve been friends for years. But as Dean watches Cas interact with the other students who walk into the room, he realizes that this is just who Cas is, how he actswith pretty much everyone. He’s awkward and dorky, sure, but endearingly so.
Dean finds himself admitting that he’s kind of into music and maybe it’d be fun to be involved in a band of some kind. Cas smiles widely and tells him about Chuck and his band that meet in Practice Room C almost every day after school.
“They’re no Zep,” he admits with a little chuckle, “but they’re the only band we have here at Central.”
Dean blushes and says that he’ll check them out, earning another blinding smile from Cas.
After the final bell of the day, Cas walks with Dean back to their locker block, still as easy and engaging as ever. Dean can’t help but marvel at how many people pause to bid Cas goodbye, everyone from freshmen to seniors, top-rung athletes to low-rung nerds. And Cas is just as friendly and open with each and every one of them.
Once they’ve gathered their books, Cas points Dean in the direction of the practice rooms before heading off to his own Monday-afternoon club (something about recycling, from what Dean catches). Dean does find the practice rooms and the aforementioned Chuck, along with his fellow band members Gabriel and Cain and Crowley. He hears them before he sees them, and he’s surprised at how good they are.
He doesn’t know what to expect when he knocks on the door—in fact he’s pretty surprised that he actually works up the nerve to do so—but Chuck’s already heard from Cas, and immediately invites Dean to sing along with them for the afternoon. By the end of the rehearsal, they’re blending like they’ve been doing this for years, and Dean’s got himself a vocal spot with Aborted Apocalypse.
When Dean spots Cas in the hallway the next morning, disheveled and adorable in yet another bulky sweater, he tries to thank him, but Cas just waves him off with a simple “That’s what friends do.”
And, from what Dean observes over the next weeks, Cas is just as generous with...well, pretty much everyone.
First it’s the giant football player Gordon who runs up and scoops Cas into a giant bear hug bc he finally earned a B in his history class, all thanks to Cas tutoring him in his one free hour.
Then it’s the sketchy guy Sid who usually hangs out behind the gym celebrating April 20 every fucking day, shuffling up to Cas to mutter that he’s “got the stuff in his car.” At first Dean’s taken aback, bc he can’t help but wonder if Cas, well...but then it turns out that “the stuff” is the Tupperware containers that Cas used to pack a bunch of meals when he learned that Sid’s mom was in the hospital for surgery.
Then it‘s Bela sauntering up to inform Cas that their usual girls night at the movies will need to be moved to Friday instead of Saturday bc she’s been asked out on a date.
Then it’s Becky, a freshman who stumbles up sobbing bc her junior boyfriend broke up with her to ask Bela out on a date.
Then it’s some random sophomore asking Cas for a hug and a piece of chocolate bc they failed their world history quiz. Then the frickin school counselor stops by to ask Cas to sit in on an appointment with one of his friends (a term that literally applies to the entire school, as far as Cas is concerned).
And Cas—sweet, adorkable Cas who’s involved in so many extra clubs and volunteer groups on top of all this—just takes it all in stride. Dean can’t even begin to guess when the guy studies or does his homework, but he passes in all the homework that’s due and he aces all his quizzes (at least the ones that Dean grades).
When Dean finally asks Cas how he does it, how he manages to look out for so many people while still taking care of himself, Cas just shrugs and says something about “mom friend” before offering Dean one of the cookies he’d baked over the weekend.
It’s at this exact moment that Dean realizes that he’s falling for Cas. Pretty fucking hard. It doesn’t help that they’re spending more and more time together: studying for physics, hanging out at each other’s houses, binge watching Dr. Sexy, volunteering for events with the animal shelter (Cas’s idea). Cas will even sit in on the band’s rehearsals some afternoons and hum along as Dean flashes him funny faces and flirtatious winks.
And yeah, Dean tries dropping hints here and there, flirting and gentle teasing—everything that’s worked for him in the past. But, Cas seems oblivious? Honestly, truly oblivious. Whenever Dean flirts and tries to compliment his eyes or hair, Cas deflects and makes a joke instead. The couple of times that Dean asks Cas out, it’s misinterpreted as just . . . hanging out. It’s incredibly frustrating, to say the least.
But there are so many hints that maybe Cas does like Dean back? Like the way he always smiles so openly at Dean, with his entire face lighting up every time they’re in the same room. The way he goes out of his way to talk to him and spend time with him, no matte how many other people are vying for his attention. How he attends the band’s gigs once they start playing local venues...He even befriends Sam (which is a huge deal for Dean) bc they’re both in GSA. Which, that certainly sparked Dean’s interest when he heard, but Sam had to admit that he didn’t actually know if Cas was into guys, or just an ally.
It isn’t until Bela sweeps into an Aborted Apocalypse rehearsal on a Tuesday afternoon in November and shoves her perfectly manicured nail into Dean’s chest to ask, “Why the hell haven’t you made a move on Cas?” Which surprises Dean, bc he knew that Bela and Cas were close (an unlikely pairing, given...well, them. Apparently it went back to freshman year with Cas helping Bela through some family stuff) but he didn’t know that she’d take such an active role in trying to get them together.
He offers his entire list of excuses, from “Cas is the same with me as he is with everyone else” to “I don’t even know if he’s into guys.” Bela just rolls her eyes at every single one.
It’s only when she says, “You both can make up as many excuses as you want, but everyone can see how you’re into each other!” that Dean begins to consider the possibility that Cas might actually want him back.
But he still has to be sure. “Everyone can see?” he asks around the ball in his throat. Bela nods slowly, like she’s dealing with an idiot, and as Dean looks around, he can see the rest of the guys nodding along too, all with shit-eating grins. Well, fuck.
It’s then that he has to admit that none of his usual tricks have worked. And Cas is just so fucking friendly with everybody. Dean can’t believe he, of all people, is special to Cas.
Bela just rolls her eyes and drags Dean from the room to another empty practice room. She levels Dean with a stern glare as she threatens to “disembowel you slowly with my pinky nail if you so much as breathe a word of this to anyone, ever.” And then she tells him about Brady.
Apparently, Cas is gay, but his last boyfriend Brady (some dickwad who attends another school across town) spent the entire relationship actively convincing Cas that they shouldn’t ever break up because no one else would ever want him. And then when they did break-up, Brady blasted Cas on all the social sites, and at one point, even vandalized Cas’s car, spray-painting derogatory, hateful slurs across every surface. So Cas is understandably hesitant about starting a new relationship because of how Brady treated him.
But, the biggest reason he won’t let himself show interest in Dean is he still believes what Brady said. Regardless of how many people love and accept him at school and at home, there’s still a tiny part that thinks that he isn’t good enough. When Dean scoffs in anger and disbelief, Bela arches a brow and spells it out: unless Dean makes it super obvious that he’s into Cas like that...well, Cas will never make that leap on his own.
As Dean is just about to head back next door, Bela calls out, “He loves the Beatles, you know.”
Dean smirks back at her, “Give me some credit, Bela.”
That weekend, when Cas arrives at the little coffee shop the guys are playing (with Bela in tow), Dean makes sure to stop at their table before the show and compliment Cas on his new button-down. When Cas smiles up at him, blushing so prettily as he murmurs his thanks, Dean can’t help but brush his fingers over the back of Cas’s hand, sharing a long, soft smile before his giddiness carries him back up to the stage.
They start with their usual set—a couple songs that the guys had written before Dean joined, a song they’d all written together, a couple popular covers—all songs that Cas has heard before. But then, the last song before the break, Dean smiles right down at Cas as he says, “This next song is for my amazing best friend, who’s loved and appreciated by so many people...including me,” he glances down shyly as he admits, “Cas, there’s no one else I could sing this to.” He looks right back up into Cas’s shocked blue gaze, “No one else who I’d want to hold my hand.”
He nods to the guys behind him, and the bass line starts to thrum as Dean sings the first, low lines:
“Yeah, I’ll tell you something. I think you’ll understand, when I say that something: I wanna hold your hand. I wanna hold your hand. I wanna hold your hand.”
The tempo picks up as the others join in. “Oh please, say to me...you’ll let me be your man. And please, say to me, you’ll let me hold your hand. Now let me hold your hand. I wanna hold your hand.”
Cas’s cheeks burn a bright red, but he can’t seem to tear his gaze away from Dean—from his sincere eyes and kind smile—and Dean can’t bring himself to look away either. Everyone else, everything else, fades away. It’s just him and Cas as he sings the bridge.
“And when I touch you, I feel happy inside. It’s such a feeling that my love... I can’t hide...I can’t hide...I can’t hide.”
As Dean sings through the final chorus, he can see it in Cas’s face—the realization and certainty that Dean is singing this just for him.
When the song ends, Dean still can’t tear his eyes away from Cas. Chuck announces a short break, but it’s all background noise to Dean as he hops down from the stage and returns to his best friend. Their shy smiles match as Dean reaches down to intertwine their fingers together. Cas slowly stands and pulls Dean into a tight hug with his free hand, unwilling to release the hands held between them.
“I really do, you know,” Dean murmurs into Cas’s ear.
Cas pulls back just enough to let Dean really see his eyes. “I know. I’ve hoped, for so long, but I just...I couldn’t tell.”
Dean scoffs. “You couldn’t tell? You, who spends so much time looking out for other people—“
Cas rolls his eyes. “Yes, the mom friend.”
“Why do you keep calling it that?” Dean wonders, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
“Because that’s what I am,” Cas insists. “And no one wants to date the mom.”
Dean arches a brow. “Ever heard of Stacy’s Mom? Or MILFs? Or Mrs. Robinson? Or—“
Cas cuts him off with, “I get it, I get it.” He chuckles, brushing his nose against Dean’s. “I still don’t understand it, but I get it.”
Dean’s eyes drop to Cas’s mouth. “And you get me.”
“I do?” Cas can’t help but tease, but Dean chooses to respond with something that will erase all doubts. His lips meet Cas’s, somehow gentle and fervent and kind and sincere, each giving and taking at the same time.
When they finally part, to the sound of people clapping and cheering, Dean glances down at Bela and nods once. “Thank you.”
Cas looks down at her, his eyebrows arched in surprise. “This was you?” Bela just shrugs as she looks back down at her phone with a bored expression, “I was just so sick and tired of the eye-fucking.”
Years down the road, when Dean and Aborted Apocalypse have hit it big, Cas will use his sparse free time (you know, between his full-time job as a social worker and his classes to earn his second masters degree) to go see Dean and the others perform whenever they’re nearby. And every time Cas is at one of their shows, they play another Beatles song. But they never actually circle back around to “I Want to Hold your Hand” until the night Dean pulls Cas onstage to drop to one knee and ask him if he’ll hold his hand for the rest of their lives.
So I’ve kind of had this idea floating around in the back of my head for a while now (you know, high school nerds falling in love over music). I mean, I’d heard through the grape vine that Jensen could sing, but it wasn’t until I saw this video that I realized I had to write something with musician Dean. The song “I Want to Hold Your Hand” was originally sung by the Beatles, but the version I picture Dean singing here is closer to this slow version from the Across the Universe soundtrack. Anyways, hope you enjoyed! As always, please like and share, as that is the lifeblood for us authors on here. Ok, byeeee!

In The Light        Jimmy Page          Fan Fiction          Part 24
Part 24  Getting Set to Leave
Tumblr media
It was a Tuesday afternoon and the plans for their trip to England were getting set up. They had decided to keep Jill’s apartment rented because of it’s closeness to the city. And it would be a convenient place to stay for any time they stayed in NY. Jill loved that idea. She packed only her favorite clothes to bring to England. She really didn’t have that many anyway, and she could always get more in London.
Jimmy was more busy lately with frequent calls back and forth to his managers and bandmates and business folks. He no longer needed the metal brace for his broken fingers. He was nearly ready to start moving them more and maybe begin to play soon. Their flight was set for December 21st, 1977.
Jim said, “Sweetheart, I want to give you some flight info for our trip. You need to be aware early so you can be sure to be ready.”
Jill answered, “I can’t wait. I’m really looking forward to being with you on the plane and in England, all that. We are gonna have the best time.”
His face was slowly covered in a grin so huge that it was noticeable in his voice. “All I want is for you to be happy.” He felt so great that she looked forward to it so much. She didn’t seem troubled at all to be leaving her home or friends or job. Jimmy just hoped that she’d be content there with him, in his day to day life. At times it could be relaxing when they were not touring. But at other times while on tour, it could be stressful and grueling. He had it in his mind that Jill would always join him when on tour and just live their own lives among the band, with them or without them. Jimmy just hoped she could manage dealing with the stresses of the on tour months. Yes, fun and exciting, but yes, also, complete craziness. Jimmy decided to present the subject to her, rather than save it for the last moment. He held her hands and backed her up into the bedroom. They lay on the bed together on their sides facing each other. Heads held up by their hands on bent elbows.
“Jilly, let’s have a talk, alright ?”
“Sure, what’s on your mind ?” she asked.
“It’s about the subject of when I’ll have to be going on tour.” he said.
“Oh, yeah. I see. Hmm, how will we deal with that, will that be an issue ?”
“Well, not necessarily, it doesn’t need to be. I mean, basically it’s up to you. I always want you to come with me. Be next to me all the time. But that’s a lot to ask. If you try it and you hate it, you don’t need to come again if you don’t want to. But, I really hope you would. I would miss you so much, and be lonely beyond belief for you. If you did join me, in a way it will be an amazing experience, visiting all the different countries. We would have a lot of open time, so you and I and the others also, we can spend a lot of our free time exploring new places, eating local food, seeing sights. All that. You and I could sleep together every night, which would mean so much to me. I don’t want to be away from you. But, it’s important to discuss it and think about it. If you did decide to pass on a tour or more, you could always go where ever you wanted to, such as back to your home, or maybe on a trip with a female friend or something ? I don’t know.” he said.
“Or a male friend maybe ?” she said, jokingly.
“Oh shit, don’t tease me like that. I hate that thought. And maybe that’s one of the reasons I want you to be with me. I would hate it so much if you got bored and met another guy and preferred him to me. I would hate it so much. You have no idea how bad that would hurt me. ”
“Well, sure I do. If you met another girl and got physical with her, or even just liked her a lot
I would be absolutely devastated. Don’t know if I could even go on, then, I would be totally gutted. I know just what you mean. What if you met a woman you really cared for ? The way I would feel then, is just so profound. Beyond words with pain and grief.” Jill said.
“Luckily then, it’s good that I have no intention of ever hurting you or finding someone new. Because there’s nothing better in this world than you, my angel. That’s why I want you right by my side. And why I want to be right next to you.” he said.
“Wow, Jim, I’m really astounded by your comments. I didn’t know before, that you were that sensitive. By the way, you don’t need to worry about that because you’re exactly what I want. You’re perfect for me. And you make me feel proud and cared for and safe.” Jill said.
“That’s my entire goal. If you can understand how much you mean to me.  I couldn’t be happier than when you’re with me.”
After his sweet words, she couldn’t help but hold him in her arms and just kiss him like crazy. They were laying on the bed and caressing each other. Ultimately they were naked and making out fiercely. Jill started to make love to him using her mouth. He was speaking softly while she did this, it almost sounded like praying. Meanwhile Jill also massaged his body with her soft hands. “Oh,
my lord,” she heard him saying. Petting him softly all around the insides of his thighs and around his lower tummy and his butt cheeks. Jimmy’s face looked like he was in a state of agonizingly pure bliss as he petted and gently grabbed handfuls of her hair. He adored having her face and tongue between his legs and spoke softly, “Jill, you have me undone, girl.” And she continued pleasuring him till he got to the end of his rope. He was murmuring, so softly, “Please,..please
” while turning his head from side to side.
And Jill said, “
.It’s ok, sweetheart. Be calm, I’ll be sure to get you everything you need.“  His hips were moving around a lot, and he shouted out in ecstasy when he finally hit his peak. He was in another state of being. Jill loved being so intimate and personal with him. He was so precious to her.
Jimmy could tell how much gentleness she put into her effort because of how fantastic he felt when he was under her control, in her hands. He trusted her and appreciated her so much, she was such an intense lover and also such a rare person.
Earlier, during the week, Jimmy had actually ventured out to Ronnie’s work and greeted him and all his work buddies.  He shook their hands, spoke to each one as long as they wanted. Ronnie was so amazed that Jim would go to that trouble for him. The coworkers were absolutely speechless and in awe when they met Jimmy. And he and Ron and a few of Ron’s crew went out for lunch and a few beers. They had a great afternoon together and really enjoyed each others’ company. Ronnie really was a great guy and he was so thrilled and grateful.
Jill had invited all her friends over to her apartment for the night of the 18th. She had prepared a few dishes and had coffee and dessert ready for all the guests, as a sort of going away party. They all arrived, a few at a time. Ralph and Paula, Anita, Nancy, Mike, Ronnie and Paul.  Some of them had cards for her and a few had gifts. It was a pretty emotional night since none of them wanted Jill to leave.  And all of them were crazy about Jimmy too and a few of them had also grown pretty attached to him. When it came time to go, there was some crying, but a lot of intense hugging and kissing. Jill promised she’d be back to visit and Jimmy said he’d have them all over to his home in England in the near future.
It was emotional and exhausting to have to say goodbye. But not for forever, just for now. After they left, Jill decided she’d like to stay there in her apartment one more night. So they got into her cozy bed, which was smaller than the big bed in the hotel. But they liked being in there, it was much simpler and more homey. They lay there with their arms around each other. They had hot tea at their night table. It was very relaxing hanging out there.
The night before, their guests had insisted on cleaning up everything from the dinner. They all chipped in and washed all dishes, and were given all the remaining food from the dinner and anything from the refrigerator in general, home with them.  Jill had only one small suitcase that she was planning on taking to England. She liked things easy and simple. She didn’t really bring much, just her favorite clothes. Jill left her car in her parking space which was an enclosed carport. The driver for Zep brought them onward to the hotel.
