Hello ! Can u write Modern school au zen x reader where the reader finds out he’s been playing the piano after school and reader comes to listen outside of the music room. (maybe falls asleep to it because it’s soothing). sorry if it’s cliché, was thinking about the canon from the manga that he can play any song he hears even once (red light district arc I think) thank you 🌻🎶
Zenitsu x Reader
Tumblr media
Rhythmic drips of the waterdroplets. One after another. Creating a small echo for a short millisecond, then vanishing as if never existed. The rainy season of tsuyu has started once again. Painting the skies gray and tainting the air in a suffocating moist tension.
(Y/N) pursed their lips in frustration.
It wouldn't have been so much of a big deal for them to get through the rain if they would have not forgotten their umbrella at home. Since the skies were clear from any dark clouds, the (H/C) was optimistic enough to see themselves going home to a cloudless sunset. Completely forgetting that they had cleaning duty for the day as well.
In the end (Y/N) was stuck in school until the downpour calmed down for at least a tiny bit.
Heels clacking against the floor, (Y/N) made her way upstairs to return the mob she had to take from another classroom. It seemed that the last one was beheaded by their feral classmate Inosuke when he was trying to challenge Tanjirou to a sword fight. Both ended up getting scolded by their merciless Maths teacher and sentenced to craft a new broom and ruler each, to compensate for the loss of the original ones.
And even so, those two were long done with their duties and off home. (Y/N) sighed as they looked out of the shining water stained window. The downsides had their positives though. Having 80% of the students long gone, the school became a lot more peaceful and relaxing. Creating a small moment of tranquility.
Marching down the long wooden hallway to bring the tool back, the (H/C) picked up the sound of the distant piano which usually slumbered in the music room. Coming closer to the abandoned four walls, there was something else which became much more noticeable. A humming. Perfectly in synch to the gentle taps and melody of the piano. To say that the situation didn't spike the interest of the student would be a lie. They never heard the piano used that often and ,what was more endearing, not this lulling gentle voice, silently flowing with the tunes.
Sadly (Y/N) stood in front of another dilemma which didn't seem to find an end today. Taking a peak into the room was not possible since that particular room didn't have windows to the hallway and you couldn't see much through that slim keyhole which was used to lock up the instruments safely. In short this means no peeking allowed and it just frustrated them as they won't be allowed to solve this new school mystery so quickly.
But just as much curiosity chewed on their hands, (Y/N) couldn't bring themselves to rip the door open and to see who this siren was who played with their mind and ears. Fearing to lose that emotion of calmness and ease which passed through their drained brain with each new note.
The (H/C) decided it would be better to hide behind a corner and enjoy the small symphony of rain and piano. Eyes slowly sliding shut. Enjoying echo which ringed through their tensed body. Dancing in their mind and fantasy. Loosing up the tension which they felt until now. And before noticing, they drifted off into a peaceful slumber.
(Y/N) woke up by someone shaking them gently awake. Rubbing their (E/C) eyes, they met the gaze of their art teacher who carefully helped their student up on to their feet. And after some conversing and explanation as to why they ended up sleeping so soundlessly outside the music room, their teacher just smiled with furrowed eyebrows.
„But (L/N)...the music room has been locked up the whole time now. I'm sure you misheard it and some students were just playing music from their phones?“
It couldn't be though, since they heard it so clearly coming from the abandoned classroom. Right there, someone was playing — yet it seems that she was right.
The music long gone as swiftly as the sound of a raindrop. The doorknob not giving in and opening Schrödingers theorem. It was all long gone as if just a millisecond has passed.
(Y/N) sighed in defeat, bowing down to apologise for the trouble they caused. Walking back with their teacher to pick up the belongings which were stored safely in the classroom of the (H/C).
The morals officer, Zenitsu Agatsuma, on the other hand, sat inside the pandora's box, all nervous and sweating. He was congratulating himself in his head for being smart enough to use the spare keys to lock himself in before starting to practice.
He wished that he could groan in frustration but the blonde was still too afraid in case someone would hear him and dash their way to the room. Hoping to find a ghost or something along the lines. As someone with his job, he wouldn't be able to find a good explanation for his situation. (Especially not if it's Mr. Shinazugawa catching him)
Soon enough though, he will be able to crawl out from his cowardice and proudly play the tune to the person who accidentally stumbled over their present today. And seeing how the sky cleared up with that wonderful golden sunset, destiny seems to smile his way.
Until then, the tunes will be just like nature's orchestra.

Gakuen!Zenitsu confessing to S/O from the music club
Tumblr media
It was March 20th as Zenitsu woke up to the sound of his blaring alarm. Zenitsu rubbed his face with a groan, but quickly got up. Today was a special day for him. It was the last week of the second semester. It was also the day that Zenitsu was going to confess his feelings to his friend, Y/N. The two went to Kimetsu Academy and were in the same homeroom. Y/N introduced themselves to him and the two became close. Eating lunch together everyday and walking home together.
Zenitsu showers and puts on his uniform neatly, being part of the morals committee means he has to be neat. He ate breakfast and started to walk to the academy pretty early. He had to come in early to make sure everyone had their uniform on correctly. Not the most glamorous club, but it kept him busy. The morning was chilly, but the sun shone brightly. The trees were slightly blooming, showing the first signs of spring. Zenitsu sighed, gripping his bag while thinking about Y/N and how he was going to tell them.
Y/N was pretty popular in class, a good role model for others. They were part of the music club, a club Zenitsu would’ve joined if he could. Zenitsu had great hearing and could actually play the shamisen, plus if he joined he could spend more time with Y/N. Zenitsu sighed dreamily, Y/N always stood up for him against people that made fun of him. Being the president of the moral compass committee didn’t make him popular, and he was afraid of delinquents in class. Y/N was brave and gave him at least a little courage when they were around. Zenitsu knew that they had admirers. Better people than him...
Zenitsu shook his head and slapped his cheeks. No! He couldn’t think like that! He loved Y/N and he was going to get them alone so he could yell his feelings to Y/N! Zenitsu got to the front gate of the academy and stood near the gate. He removed his clipboard from his school bag and got ready for the day.
~~~~~
Zenitsu had been standing at the gate for about an hour. He expected for Y/N to be here by now. He planned on confessing to them right before school starts, but it was almost time for class now. Zenitsu started to bite the nail on his thumb in nervousness.
“Zenitsu!” Y/N called out, running up the path to the gates. Their uniform was clean and tidy, but seemed to be rushed to put on. They stopped in front of Zenitsu, a bit out of breath. “Y-Y/N! Are you ok?!” Zenitsu yelled, getting looks from some of the other late students. “Y-Yes! I woke up late a-and had to rush!” Y/N breathed out. Zenitsu stared at them, even seeing them disheveled, he was so in love with Y/N. He knew that after this semester, the two of them might not be in the same class anymore and he’d be losing his chance!
“Y/N, I have something I need to say-“ Zenitsu began, but was interrupted by Inosuke running like a wild animal and pushing Zenitsu to the side. Inosuke was a usual late troublemaker that caused Zenitsu a lot of issues. Zenitsu fell over with a thud. “HEY! Watch where you’re going Inosuke!” Y/N yelled at the strange boy and then helped Zenitsu up, “Oh! It’s almost time for class! Come on Zenitsu!” Zenitsu sighed, his unspoken words heavy in his chest.
~~~~~
It had been a whole day and Zenitsu had no chance to tell Y/N how he felt! It was so frustrating! During class, Zenitsu tried passing a note to Y/N, but it ended up in Inosuke’s hands! He tried to bring it up during lunch, but Tanjiro and Nezuko decided to join the two of them! Finally, during the cleaning period, Zenitsu went to approach Y/N and slipped on a wet floor in front of them. He had to go to the infirmary.
School had ended and Zenitsu was patrolling the halls, making sure that students were going to their club activities and not loitering around. Zenitsu had been walking up and down the hall with the music room for about thirty minutes now. He was listening to their club activity as they played folk songs and sang. He could hear Y/N’s voice singing the loudest and the most beautiful out of all of them. Angelic during the high notes and impressive during low notes. Zenitsu wanted to listen to that voice all day. He had to do this, his feelings had been weighing him down all day! After they were finished, he would tell Y/N when everyone else left.
Zenitsu jumped when the door suddenly opened, he had been thinking there for a while. Students began to leave, some waving towards Zenitsu. Zenitsu pushed past though and saw Y/N putting some of the instruments away. “Y/N! Um...Cleaning up?” Zenitsu muttered, unsure on how to start this. “Oh yes, it’s my turn for today. We can walk home together in a minute though, ok?” Y/N answered, seemingly oblivious to his nervousness. Zenitsu noticed that no one else was left in the club room. He took the moment to close the sliding door to the room. He cleared his throat and stepped forward.
Before Zenitsu could open his mouth, Y/N smiles and looked at him, “Zenitsu, I want to thank you” Zenitsu was stopped in his tracks, “Th-Thank me? For what?” Y/N played with their hair and stepped over to him, the light coming through the window shining off them, “Well, my day started off really bad. I was late and almost got knocked over by Inosuke, but you were always there for me. Class was class, but Tanjiro said that you really made his day. Then we had lunch with our friends! Finally, you got me out of cleaning when I got to take you to the nurses office! You really made today better” Zenitsu was stunned, his awful day really made Y/N happy. They appreciated him for being him.
Zenitsu took a deep breath, looking into Y/N’s eyes, “I love you, Y/N. I love your singing voice and I always want to hear it. Even more than that, I love being your friend and I never want that to end!”
Y/N looked at him with a smile and dreamy look in their eyes. They leaned in and whispered, “I accept,” Zenitsu’s face turned red as Y/N kissed his cheek and grabbed his hand, “Now, come on, silly! We gotta get home!”

would u be willing to write Ler!Tanjiro and Lee!Zentisu?👀
yep! I’m sorry this one kind of sucked,, I had ideas but it’s almost 4am and idk if I executed them well 💀 regardless, I hope you enjoyed it regardless!
They had been training and recovering at the Butterfly Mansion for a few weeks now, and Tanjiro didn’t understand. Zenitsu had fought off countless demons by himself, and even followed after him and Insouke into the woods, all by himself. So, why was he suddenly nervous about training outside at nighttime?
Taking a deep breath to calm down and prevent himself from saying any potentially discouraging comments, the brunette eventually turned back to face Zenitsu with a kind, but slightly fake smile. “Zenitsu, there’s nothing to be afraid of. You’ve done scarier things before, haven’t you? You even fought off demons by yourself.”
That seemed to be the comment that made the blonde get even more anxious, as he looked down and rubbed the back of his neck. “I guess, but I’m not even sure that was me. If it was, though, then I almost died. It was a close call for all of us, wasn’t it? I just don’t want that to happen again. I don’t want to mess it up for the rest of you, somehow.”
Tanjiro froze at the casual confession before his expression slowly softened into a much more genuine one. He was glad to finally understand his friend better, and gave Zenitsu the kindest smile he could muster. “I can assure you, you won’t mess anything up. Besides, it won’t take long, and Shinobu-san promised we’d be safe here, remember? We’re not alone here, either. Everything’s going to be alright.”
The older male slowly looked up at his friend, and hesitated before suddenly pulling Tanjiro into a hug, dramatically whining once again. “Aw, Tanjiro! You’re so inspiring! Still, I’m not sure if I’m cut out for this whole thing..”
The demon slayer let out another sigh to himself; he really thought that would encourage the boy enough. He mindlessly poked Zenitsu in the side and tried again. “Hey, none of that, alright? You’re going to be fine- ah, Zenitsu? Are you alright?”
The sight before him was definitely unexpected- Zenitsu seemed to be stifling a laugh of some sort, his hand frantically rubbing at his side. “Mhm! Everything is fine! You’re right, I can do this! Well, let’s go.” The previously terrified male suddenly attempted to stand up and leave like it was nothing, but Tanjiro had already figured it out before he could go far, and he gently pushed Zenitsu back onto the bed with playful menace in his eyes.
“Oh, so now you want to try to leave, huh?” Zenitsu froze. He had only ever seen the boy with this scary look around Inosuke whenever he got too hyper and needed to be ‘calmed down.’
“Well, yeah! I’m fine now, I was just being a coward again. You were right!” But he knew his halfhearted attempts to appease Tanjiro were in vain. This was proven as he felt the warmth of calloused hands at his sides once again.
“Well, that’s great, Zenitsu! You grew so much. I’m so proud of you!” The wicked grin grew, and Zenitsu gulped as he prepared for his fate. “However, I still think I should give you a little more...courage.”
With that, Zenitsu let out an uncontrollable squeal, already squirming around in the boy’s grip, and Tanjiro couldn’t stop himself from laughing along at that. “You’re already reacting this much? I’m barely doing anything!”
“This- this isn’t nothing!” The squirming male didn’t know how else to react to the teasing, so he just continue to giggle and squeak as he made fruitless attempts to shove the offending hands away from his stomach.
While Zenitsu was distracted with trying to protect his tummy and sides, the younger boy took the evil opportunity to target his underarms. He playfully wiggled his fingers into one as his other hand continued switching between scribbling at his sensitive ribs and stomach. With two tickly sensations to fight off, Zenitsu was easily overpowered, and all he could do was laugh.
“Aww, this is really adorable. See, Zenitsu? All you need is courage!” He teased as his finger momentarily dipped into his naval through his clothes, earning another loud squeal from the other boy. “What’s wrong? Does it tickle too much? Aw, but you’re brave now! If you can survive against this super ticklish feeling, then you can fight off anything.”
Blushing brightly from Tanjiro’s “encouraging” comments, Zenitsu was finally freed from the playfully torture, and he curled up on himself as he caught his breath. “Ah, Tanjiro...thank you,” he mumbled, slowly sitting up after a while. The previously mischievous boy gave him a sweet and gentle smile in return, helping him off the bed.
“No problem. Now, let’s go meet Inosuke outside. I know you’ll do great,” he replied with a kind grin.

do you have any headcanons on zennezu and how he proposed and the wedding?
HEADCANONS: ZenNezu proposal and wedding
Hi @purpletiger15! I hope you can read this request since I couldn’t seem to find you in the tag. Really enjoyed making this heartfelt and fun HC! Just feel free to drop some more. 💌
Tumblr media
proposal 💍
Zenitsu literally proposed everyday to Nezuko and outright claimed her as his wife
Nezuko normally responds with a blush and giggles, until one day...
"Nezuko-chan~, my wife! I sold a lot today and even picked up those tomatoes you told me delicious.” Zenitsu declared as he  I often dream of one day when we’ll be officially together.
“Yes, I think so too, Zenitsu. I think it would be lovely if we would be lika that.” Nezuko answered, thinking that this was probably her chance to voice out that she’s finally ready to take him up on his offer. She thought about this the night before and even gathered all her courage just to have this opportunity
Zenitsu, having an extra strong sense of hearing, knew that Nezuko-chan was serious. Was he happy about it? Yes, of course. But what filled him, was his self-doubt
Zenitsu asked himself if he really deserves someone like her. Perhaps, she’s maybe better off with someone else
However, when he looked at her, he saw the amount of courage and internal effort she pulled off to confess her affirmation to him. He must not let her down! That’s what Zenitsu thought.
While Nezuko was nervous that he might turn the table and reject her.
Being the cutesy awkward couple they were, Zenitsu played it cool like Nezuko was just joking to him. Nezuko just laughed off thinking to herself that maybe she should have taken Zenitsu seriously way back then.
One evening, however, Zenitsu asked her to come with him at the flower field
He had with him a small basket and announced his intention to stargaze with her
There, under the stars, he set up their little dinner he made himself (with the help of Tanjirou). He told her random stories, specifically about his life. He made her laugh. Most importantly, he looked at her like she’s the only one and Nezuko felt it.
He didn’t beat around the bush. This time, he was serious, he was sincere and he was confident. “Nezuko-chan, I may not be the best out there, but I will be for you. Will you...will you officially be my wife?”
Nezuko was starstruck at him. She never thought that he’d go the extra mile like this since she’s not really asking for it at the same time. She was just a simple girl yet...with Zenitsu she always felt special.
“Yes!” Tearfully, she answered as she dove on him for a hug, which was later followed by a tender kiss.
wedding 💒
Zenitsu was a crying mess before and after their wedding. Tanjirou stepped in to ease him out, but some of his words make him cry even harder
Especially when Tanjirou said, “We’re officially brothers now, Zenitsu!”
Oh damn! It hit Zenitsu hard. He dreamed of having a family ever since he was young, but when it’s finally happening...he couldn’t just believe it
What gave him encouragement was Tanjirou’s statement, that out of the three of them Zenitsu was the first one to get married...Zenitsu thought that they were counting on him in setting an example on being a good husband! That’s why he toughened up and released his most confident self ever.
The ceremony was serene as only principal family members are allowed as witnesses.
All throughout, Nezuko and Zenitsu could only hear the beating of their own hearts. They were elated, nervous and excited. All these emotions are bursting inside their chests.
Nezuko just couldn’t simply believe that after everything that happened to her, she’d still get married. The unfortunate events of her life even intersected her fate with the kind of man she had been dreaming of, and even more.
As a country girl, she never really expected to meet someone shining as brightly as Zenitsu. He brought into her life new perspectives and things she thought she would never know.
They also invited the remaining (ex)pillars. And hell! Uzui had the most flamboyant reaction as expected... “How the hell does this kid get to marry? He’s even the first one!”
Inosuke took it as a challenge. “Just wait and see you crybaby! I’ll get married next!”
Tanjirou just laughed and commented, “Inosuke, this is not a race.” (He immediately changed his mind when he saw Kanao, though)
The reception was filled with guests teasing the two and wondering how the rambunctious Zenitsu managed to win Nezuko’s heart ♥
Nezuko, however, knew deep in her heart that despite the tears and all, Zenitsu was the man of her dreams for he can make the simplest thing perfect. ✨
💮 More HCs to come! Feel free to dump me some more requests! I super duper love making them. 💖

A Murder of One
Tumblr media
Chapter:
15
Summary:
A literal train wreck. Miyuki confesses, and Akiko’s eyes are blessed again.
Previous Chapter | Origin | Next Chapter
Okay.
So pause scene.
Imagine this.
A buff old man (we’ll say he’s old because he has white hair) suddenly snatches up you and your friends for an unexplainable reason.
But your other friends that didn’t get snatched are being the absolute angels that they are and run down the old wack job to try and avenge you.
And then your fiance since birth (different story) walks into the scene, and he doesn’t know what the fuck is going on.
Okay.
Resume scene.
“He’s kidnapping us!!” Akiko yells out, her face red with either anger or embarrassment she can’t tell.
Tanjirou acts instantly, launching himself at Uzui with full intent on headbutting the hell out of him. But Uzui is too fast, and Akiko tries her best to kick the hems of her dress down to make sure she isn’t flashing anything. She kicks her feet wildly when she finds that the three of them are on the roof of the estate.
“UZUI TENGEN YOU BETTER COVER MY ASS RIGHT NOW!!”
“I am the ‘former shinobi’ Uzui Tengen-sama-”
“DON’T IGNORE ME! AND DON’T ADD -SAMA TO YOUR NAME YOU CREEP!!”
“Dear lord SHUT UP! Here, you brat, jeez!” Uzui brushes her skirt over, pauses, then gives Akiko’s butt a slap before laughing, claiming it to be rather flamboyant.
Akiko nearly goes mental at the harassment, and Tanjirou looks like he’s about to shoot himself up to the roof and give Uzui more than just a headbutt.
“You’re a pervert!” Kiyo yells from the ground.
“Who do you think you’re mouthing off here!! I have superiority! I’m a pillar you jackasses!”
“I don’t accept you as a pillar! Hmph!!”
“DON’T YOU ‘HMPPH’ MEEE!! DO YOU MEAN YOU DON’T ACCEPT ME?! YOU LOWLY BRAT!! IS YOUR BRAIN COMPLETELY DEAD!? I NEED A GIRL MEMBER ON THE MISSION, SO I’M BRINGING THEM ALONG!! I DON’T NEED KOCHOU’S PERMISSION IF THEY AREN’T TSUGUKO!”
“Akiko-san can’t fight! She’s a member but she doesn’t have a uniform! She’s a doctor!”
“Don’t need her then.”
Akiko screams as she’s flung off the roof and she roughly lands in Tanjirou’s arms. Any other person would flush, but Akiko’s far too mad to even think about her cute situation.
She shoves herself out of Tanjirou’s arms, jumping up and down and yelling at Uzui to come down from the roof so that she can deck him in the face. Kanon stares in bewilderment, wondering why Akiko is so prone to abandoning ‘Do no harm.’
Even Tanjirou doesn’t know what to do, staring at his fiance with wide eyes as she unleashes another side of her that he’s never seen before. Sure, she’s had her small temper tantrums when they were kids, but this is much more justified.
“Shut up you nerd! I’m taking this one on my mission. She’s a hunter regardless.”
Akiko can see the look of panic and fear on Aoi’s face, so she takes a few deep breaths to calm herself and approach the situation differently. She has no time to yell at Uzui, and despite the fact that he’s an adult, he acts like a child.
“People have their own circumstances, Uzui. Let the girl go.”
Uzui blinks owlishly at her sudden change in behavior, her eyes slanted up at him with long lashes barely brushing her cheeks. Mouth a fine line and her hair disheveled, but it makes Akiko look all the more dangerous.
Tanjirou can smell the withheld fury from Akiko, and the fact that she’s harnessed enough control to reign her emotions back in frightens him. This anger is much more dangerous than her lashed out one, and everyone feels as if they’re seeing Akiko reach a new peak of anger.
“We’ll go in Aoi’s stead!” Tanjirou interjects, just as Zenitsu and Inosuke hop onto the gates.
They aren’t in any way injured, and she sees that Zenitsu killed three demons and Inosuke five. She can’t help but tilt her head in confusion at the new piece of information her mind is filled with, but Akiko can’t take that time to care as she watches Aoi rush into Kanao’s arms.
Akiko quietly asks Kanon to make some lunch for the girls to calm everyone’s nerves, and Kanon nods her head in understanding before hurrying off. She then sighs, walking over to her dropped umbrella before picking it up, when she sees Tanjirou out of the corner of her eyes.
“Are you okay Akiko? He dropped you rather harshly…”
Akiko looks at Uzui, who waits impatiently outside the gates, before rolling her eyes at him.
“I’ll live. It’s no big deal. I’m just afraid that the girls are mentally scarred or something along the lines… What? What’s wrong?” Tanjirou is staring at her, and Akiko can’t help but wonder why.
He wakes up from his spaced out state, blushing a bit and kicking some rocks on the ground as he looks away.
“Sorry it’s just.... You look really nice today!”
Akiko can’t help but flush, immediately opening her parasol in front of herself to hide her face. Kiyo, Sumi and Naho giggle nearby, and Akiko nearly turns around to glare at them but she’s far too busy hiding herself.
And as if some higher being grants Tanjirou with all the courage in the world, he pulls the umbrella down a bit to see her red face, smiling softly before saying, “It’d be a shame if I didn’t get to see my fiance’s face before I left.”
Now Akiko can hear Kiyo, Sumi and Naho squeal with delight as her eyes widen and she’s nearly brought to tears with embarrassment. Tanjirou starts to laugh, finding that her red face compliments her amber eyes nicely, and he cups Akiko’s face into his hands before placing a soft kiss on her forehead.
“I’ll be off!” He gives her one last smile, waving at Akiko and running out of the front gates.
Akiko’s holding her forehead, staring off into space as her brain slowly but surely processes everything that’s just happened. And once everything loads in, her heart ascends.
Akiko smiles.
---
“Himi Miyuki is on her way! Deep laceration on her lower left quadrant!”
Akiko’s eyes snap open, her back aching from accidentally passing out on the wooden engawa. She quickly tries to rub the sleep from her eyes, stumbling to her room to change out of the light green dress she still dons.
It’s only been a couple hours since Tanjirou’s departure, and she’s back to work. But what else is there to do?
So Akiko yanks on another poet’s shirt, ties her hakama around her waist, and allows for Kiyo to help her with her robe and gloves. Sumi and Naho rush to gather towels upon seeing how severe the wound is.
Shinobu stands by the entrance, waiting to welcome the house’s newest patient. Everyone is surprised to see Sanemi helping the injured girl up, and Shinobu decides to poke a little fun.
Embarrassed, Sanemi leaves Miyuki in the hands of a more than capable lady to help fix her up, and she orders the girls to help drag Miyuki’s pale body to the table.
Akiko’s eyes do a quick once over, and information she’s never picked up before flood her senses.
Miyuki has just killed four demons before one caught her by surprise. She’s lost about 1200mL of blood, and Akiko orders the girls to elevate her legs once she’s on the table. Miyuki’s blood pressure is 90/70, and her breathing is so shallow it’s worrisome. Her heart beat per minute is 60, and her skin looks ashy and waxen.
Akiko knows that Miyuki’s body temperature is naturally low, but that doesn’t mean she likes how Miyuki’s body is at a solid 90 degrees.
So the girls are instructed to place a blanket over her feet and arms too, and Akiko cuts away the cloth surrounding the large gash. Aoi ties a mask around Akiko’s face, unrolls the sleeve of scalpels lined up in the bamboo sheet, and Akiko gets to work.
Miyuki stays silent, dazed by the anesthesia, but still conscious.
Akiko works diligently as always, hands moving swiftly to stop the bleed and making sure there isn’t any debris left in the wound. It’s a simple procedure, though trickier thanks to Miyuki’s naturally cold body.
But once she’s done, Miyuki is able to form phrases and sentences, the anesthesia wearing off.
“I wonder if Sanemi has ever been in love?”
Not even a thank you…
Miyuki flinches slightly under the glare Akiko casts her way, the scalpel glinting menacingly under the bright light, but Akiko throws her a bone, asking what she means.
Their conversations dips into the topic of love in general, albeit Akiko is in no way an expert, but she entertains the idea with Miyuki. Shinobu, ever so quiet in the corner of the room, even steps in to offer her two piece on the subject.
Aoi cleans the blood on the floor while Shinobu checks the IV of blood and medicine she finished making in her corner, and Miyuki finally throws her hands up into the air.
“Well then fine! Maybe I do love Sanemi! Fuck whatever my step monster has to say!”
Shinobu laughs, “What a surprise!”
Akiko can see the lie.
At any rate, she sighs, glancing at the clock in the room to take note of the time. She blinks owlishly at it as the date comes to mind.
If she’s right, Genya should be coming in today.
Akiko peels her gloves off her hands, removing her mask as well while the girls untie the robe off her from behind before she says, “Well, congrats on the realization, but I gotta go have my monthly appointment with-”
Genya.
He’s standing by the doorway.
Sumi and Kiyo are right behind him, some newly washed rags in their hands before they step into the room again to keep cleaning the blood, and realization dawns on Akiko.
“Uh, gotta go!” Akiko shoves a startled Genya out of the room and down the hall, quickly bombarding him with questions to try and make him forget about Miyuki’s feelings for his older brother.
Genya is shoved into her office and she scrambles to find his documents. It’s an organized mess, and she knows that she should clean it up, but between 20 minute naps every hour or so and working for a whole 12 “shift” sometimes, it’s nearly impossible for her.
Akiko sits Genya down on a chair, eyes brisking over his figure as statistics fill her mind. It’s overwhelming for her, and she shuts her eyes for a few seconds to clear her head. It continues to race with the adrenaline, and she starts to count her breathing to reign it back in.
“What was that before? And are you- Are you okay?” Genya asks, blushing when she offers him a polite smile. Her usual business smile in the face of patients.
“It was nothing important. No need to worry about me, either. You have a gash on your left arm so I see you haven’t been eating too many demons. Two in the last month?” Akiko flutters her eyes to clear it again, her mouth spewing words faster than she can properly think.
Genya stares at her wide eyed, astonished.
“Y- Yeah… How do you know?”
She pays him no mind, scribbling the information down with creased brows. Genya isn’t all too used to this version of Akiko. Sure, she’s serious, but not with him. She makes no move to tease him, quickly jotting down information and asking Genya to confirm the information.
Every time, she hits the nail on the coffin. It’s like she’s unraveling his life in the past month, and Genya is almost frightened of her.
“Himejima hasn’t let up easily on you. Your biceps are 42 centimeters wide now… He still has you pushing that big rock, hm? Please tell him that misogi is not the proper way for you to rest your body,” Akiko sighs, rubbing at the bridge of her nose.
She’s done with her checkup within a few minutes, taking no time to prod at his body and instead glancing at his limbs then writing numbers down. She then quickly stands to a small cabinet on her desk, pulling out a small roll of bandages and some alcohol and cotton balls.
Akiko frowns at the little bit left in the jar, and the fact that she barely has any bandages left. It’s just enough to help patch Genya up with, but she’ll have to go out and buy some more in the local village after she’s done.
“At any rate, I’m just going to wrap up your wound and then send you on your way. Sorry I was late for the appointment this month,” she’s about to unbutton Genya’s uniform for him, but he quickly stops her with raised hand and a mad blush.
Akiko pauses, quickly apologizing for being so forward, and allows him to remove as much of his uniform as he is comfortable with so that she can clean his cut.
Genya looks everywhere but Akiko. She knows that he's an embarrassed mess around any female, so she’s quick to finish up her work and allows him to shrug his uniform back on.
“Do you want me to walk you to the entrance?” Akiko asks Genya, who shakes his head. She shrugs in compliance, apologizing for making him travel all the way to the Butterfly Estate for such a short checkup, and waves as he walk down the hall and out of the estate.
Once he turns the corner, Akiko makes her way to the kitchen to find Kanon. The pinkette is looking through the pantry with a troubled look on her face.
Akiko’s eyes are given a rest when she looks at Kanon, and it’s most likely because Kanon doesn’t kill demons for a living and lives a peaceful (or, as peaceful as it can get) life at the estate.
“Are we out of food?” Akiko asks, and Kanon jumps at the sudden presence of the ginko eyed girl.
Kanon nods her head and Akiko frowns, but the timing couldn’t be more perfect.
“Alright, let’s go shopping together.”
Of course, Shinobu feels against this idea considering the town is an hour walk away, and if they aren’t quick enough, it’ll be dark.
“Perhaps someone else should go with you?” She says, and Akiko sighs.
“I think we’ll be more than fine. If it make you feel any better, I’ll bring my tools. If Kanon trips over a rock, I’ll save her from bacteria.”
Akiko can see the irritation radiate of Shinobu, so she quickly hikes up her bag, shoves a good amount of money in, and meets Kanon at the front door.
Akiko doesn’t like the way Miruna circles above their heads.
