✰ 𝐈𝐍𝐎𝐒𝐔𝐊𝐄 stares with wide eyes when you cup his face, tracing over the edge of the bruise with a small frown. “does it hurt too bad?” you ask softly, and he scowls instantly, eye twitching at the question. “what do you mean hurt? i’m not in pain,” he growls, determined to deny there’s a small throbbing through his cheek. you smile gently and roll your eyes, leaning forward and pressing a delicate kiss to the darkened mark on his pale skin. “there, that should keep it from starting to hurt,” you murmur, tucking a strand of hair behind his ear. and slowly, he leans into your palm, forehead pressing against yours as you run a thumb over the warm skin in slow, soothing circles.

✰ 𝐙𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐒𝐔 pouts at you with watery eyes, wide and innocent as he points at the bruise forming on his cheek. you offer him a sympathetic pout back as he sniffles. “look, it’s getting all swollen. and it hurts pretty bad,” he croaks, and you cup his jaw with both hands, pressing your foreheads together with a soft chuckle. “aww, you poor thing. here,” you murmur as you plant a small trail of kiss along his bruise, making his skin flush a deep shade of crimson as his breath stutters. “please marry me,” he says instantly, staring at you in awe as you stifle a giggle. pinching his nose affectionately, you pull away. “maybe some day. you should heal first, though,” you wink, pressing one more kiss to his jaw before walking away.

✰ 𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐉𝐈𝐑𝐎 winces as your thumb brushes over his bruise, cradling his jaw and inspecting closely as you lean forward. “i told you to be careful,” you mumble with a slight pout, and his hands plant themselves on your waist, squeezing reassuringly. “it’s not too bad, i promise,” he offers, smiling at you with closed eyes. sighing, you tilt your head and press a kiss under the mark, making a soft blush dust over his skin as his breath hitches. his hand places itself over your own, keeping it in place as you trail up to cup his cheek. “you should rest, you know. you never get a break.” and with a warm smile, he plants a kiss to your forehead before tugging you along to join him.

✰ 𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐍 grins at you as he pulls you onto his lap, hands planting themselves on your hips and hiking up your shirt to rub the bare skin up and down. you eye the bruise on his chest in concern, and he chuckles lowly to himself. “don’t worry about me,” he says proudly, pointing to his bruise, “this is proof i won flamboyantly—” but he cuts himself off when he feels soft lips press to the purpleish mark on his skin, staring at you as you smile up at him. “i’m sure you were very flashy, but you should still be more careful, you know,” you scold lightly, wrapping your arms around his neck. chuckling, he leans back and pulls you flush against his chest, rubbing your back up and down slowly as he tells you about his mission.

✰ 𝐒𝐀𝐍𝐄𝐌𝐈 grunts when you try to grab his face, pulling away from your touch and muttering that he’s fine under his breath. you’re persistent, though, and you still manage to pull his face closer as you squint at the mark on his skin. “well, on the bright side this one’s not going to scar,” you sigh, brushing loose strands of hair from his forehead. he scowls, crossing his arms and turning his face away from you to the side. “told you i’m fine, so quit—” but you cut him off with a peck to his lips before placing a softer one to his bruise, making his eyes widen slightly. “there, now it’ll heal faster,” you giggle, and even if he rolls his eyes, his arm curls around your waist with a scoff and brings you closer.

You turn your head from the scenery before you, the golden sunlight flickering across Zenitsu’s face when you look at him. His large orangey fiery eyes are full of worry as he stares at you.

How were you supposed to tell him the thoughts that were flooding your mind. That you were thinking of how sometimes, deep down, you didn’t really love him. That sometimes you didn’t really care for the way his eyes shone like stars whenever he talked about his favorite things. Or the way his hands felt so strong around your own. Maybe you didn’t like any of those small things about it. You just really enjoyed his attention, the times you didn’t fell alone anymore.

“Yea, I’m okay, Zenitsu.” You respond, a small smile creeping onto your face. He frowned at you a bit more now, his face softening.

“You never call me by my name. Now tell me what’s wrong, princess.” He placed his hand over your own. You sat beside him on a thin sheet on the bright green grass, the sunset settling before you both.

“I just worry, you know?” You say, looking down at your intwined hands now. “That sometimes, I don’t really love you.” You whispered those words, afraid to even put them in the air. You didn’t want to hurt him, you never wanted that.

“Oh, hunny,” He started, his voice barely a whisper. “I know you don’t feel that way.”

“How do you know?” You ask, raising a brow at him. “They constantly creep into my mind. When the quiet is almost deafening. It’s so scary..” you drifted, too embarrassed to look at him now.

“Because l see the way you look at me.” He started, grabbing at your chin, gently, to make you look back at him. “ I know you care and love me deep down. You always make sacrifices for me, always give me the last bite of your food. You always care for my wounds even when I’m crying and whining. And sometimes when you think I’m sleeping, I could hear you talking to me about how much you want to spend the rest of your life with me. How beautiful I look when I’m asleep, that you can’t wait till morning so we can have breakfast and train together like we always do.”

His words swelled your heart so much that you were worried that it would break through you chest and right onto the floor. His face was so flushed and red that you wanted to just cup his face and kiss him all over. You could feel your intrusive thoughts beginning to slip to the back of you mind, locked away.

“Your love for me is so intoxicating, y/n, it clenches my heart and makes me feel so weak.” He smiled at you, teeth showing and all. The golden sun rays flickered across his face and eyes, making him look so bright, almost too bright that you wanted to look away. “It’s ok that you get those thoughts. We all get them. Even I do sometimes. But they’re intrusive for a reason, princess.”

You could feel the tears prickling at the corners of you eyes, you face becoming hot. You grabbed at him, pulling yourself into him to give him a loving hug. He wrapped his arms around you, placing a hand on the back of your head to pull you into him even closer. You wanted to get closer, to sink into his clothes and into his skin. You wanted him more than anything now. To hold him and love him and grow old with him.

Your body ached. You felt like you were going to die. The gash's and wounds covering your body were convincing you, but you needed to keep fighting. You had been riding on Mugen train with Inosuke, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and the flame hashira, Rengoku, when you encountered lower rank 1, Enmu and upper rank 3, Akaza. Rengoku and you were always somewhat close to each other and over time you had developed feelings for him. You needed to keep fighting for them. You had to protect them. 

"𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘧 𝘪𝘵 𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘴, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘧 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘶𝘭, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨."

The words echoed in your head.

Now....now you remember. Your father, he believed in you. He believed in you so much. He would've wanted you to keep going. When you were 11, your family were killed by demons. That's why you decided to become a demon slayer. You had to make them proud. That's all you've ever wanted.

"AGH!", you screamed out. It hurts, it's so agonizing. Your arms are starting to go weak. You can't keep moving your sword. Your going to die. You were in a 1 on 1 fight with Akaza. He was too strong. His punches kept coming and coming. You were able to deflect some of them, even managing to land a blow here or there. But it wasn't enough. None of it was enough. You would die. You would die alone. Even when surrounded by other people, that couldn't make you feel less lonely. With your family dead, and your friends gone, you knew you were alone. And if you died now, it wouldn't matter. No one would care.

You won't make them proud. You won't avenge them. You won't, you won't, you won't. The words swirled around your head. As much as it pained you to think those thoughts, it was all true. No matter what you did, no matter how hard you tried, you would always end up alone. And nothing you could do would ever change that. 

Accepting your fate as it is, you saw one last punch coming directly towards your chest. You shut your eyes and waited for it. This was it. 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙩. But no. No it wasn't. The punch never hit you. It never met with your body. How? How could it not? You slowly opened your eyes and were too pained to see what had happened.

The punch landed through Rengoku. He jumped in the way, and protected you from death.

"RENGOKU!", you screamed out in pain. No, no, no, no. You could die. It was okay if you died. It wouldn't matter. But him? No, not him. He mattered too much. He had a family, he had friends, he was able to make people happy. Just like he did you. 

Rengoku kept fighting though. He used his strength and katana to attempt to slice off the demons head. It failed. But you came in. The two of you fought, and fought. As hard as you could. If you could just....if you could just kill this demon, maybe there would still be time to save Rengoku. That's all you could think of. Eventually, after the two of you sustaining majorly severe injuries, you brought your katana down on Akaza's neck, evidently, slicing of his head. 

You collapsed on your ground. Your body....it hurt too much. Were you going to die still? And...and Rengoku. What about him?

You moved your body towards his that was lying on the ground. The both of you breathing heavily, he sat up and faced you. He gave you a smile. It was a small one...not like the usual big one he always gave you whenever he saw you. This pained your heart. So much. 

"Rengoku! Ah...here...I can....I'll get you somewhere safe! I'll...I'll save you I promise", you managed to breath out. Slowly, you got your small bag and dug for bandages or anything that could help him. Maybe you could get him to Shinobu. No...no you already knew you couldn't. No matter what you did you wouldn't be able to save him. 

"Y/n....oh..hello....don't waste your things on me. I'll be dying soon, no matter what you do. There's other people that you can truly save with that. Please. Please save them, not me", he said to you. He was quiet. It wasn't like him. Why? Why did this have to happen? We were just perfectly fine.

"No! No, Rengoku, please! Come on, I can save you! You'll be able to go see your family and everyone else back at home! Please...please just let me..", you couldn't finish. There was nothing you could do anymore.

"Y/n... it's okay. I promise. I'll be fine! Just let my family know how much I loved them. I hope from the bottom of my heart, that I made them proud. And you too...I've always loved you", he spoke softly, before giving you a light, happy smile. He looked like he was happy. Like he was okay. Like he would die in peace.

"I...Rengoku! Please! Please just hold on for a few minutes! Don't worry I'll get you help I swear! You'll be okay! We'll be okay! Everyone will! Just please!', you were about to finish talking when you looked at him and you realized. He was already dead.  You didn't save him. You didn't do anything. You stood there and you let him die.

"No...no...no...Rengoku please! Please just wake up, okay? PLEASE!", you cried out. Your heart hurt..it hurt so much.

Demon Slayers

Tanjiro - I LIKE HIM A LOT he’s a fun protagonist I think.. not a favorite or anything but I admire his passion and kindness a lot. I’d give him a hug.

Inosuke - Hes so funny I like how chaotic and unhinged he is. Jungle boar boy wants to fight anything and everything (and everyone) at all times it’s so good. Hes all brawn (usually) no brain. Also I just think his design is funny. Hes the weird insane best friend everyone likes but doesn’t know how he joined the group. Big fave.

Zenitsu - a little pathetic I’m sorry but it’s okay Hes funny. I enjoy how he can only fight when unconscious it’s actually kinda cool how powerful he actually is when his fear is taken away- and even when he is afraid (which is… all the time) he has some really good moments where he tries to help out- especially concerning his friends’ safety. I love him a lot <3

Rengoku - as far as I’m concerned he’s the only Hashira I love him so much he has such a funny energy to him. He’s super cool to watch fight and his personality is one of my favorite things ever. Hes everyone’s big brother and I’d allow this 100%

Nezuko - THE GIRL EVER I love her sm. I’m sorry that everyone tries to kill her tho being a demon is rough. She’s super cool tho!!! I love when she gets to help out in battle I could watch her go all day. Def one of my favorites hehe

Muzan - he’s EVIL but he’s a fun evil. I’m always here for the fucked up antagonists like sure yeah I hate everything he’s done but like. Idk he’s cool his design looks nice and again I enjoy watching the villains :]

Rui - his backstory had no right being that tragic goodbye- this applies to every demon but especially Rui. I think his design and entire character concept is super cool though!!! Family-obsessed spider man with twisted corrupt views on how exactly family works because of repression human side and blah whatever. He’s my faves out of the Twelve Kizuki so far too. Also may or may not kin him we don’t. Talk about it

Enma - I constantly refer to him as “slut” and “whore” that is simply my opinion but after whatever the fuck that was I think “Thomas the Tank Engine” is a fitting name as well. His entire concept is so funny on that end but I enjoyed him a lot!! My second fave of the Twelve Kizuki I would gladly rewatch his content. ALSO HIS DEMON ART IS REALLY COOL I love it when characters can manipulate dreams/nightmares/etc that is THE character trope ever goodbye

Akaza - he’s chaotic and my opinion of him is very violent and I’d gladly beat him up but yknow haha silly villain man. Hes insane and violent and sure I’m here for it y’know what. Hope he dies soon tho.

There’s always been a yearning, a big lonely hole, in Tanjirou’s heart, but he can never seem to figure out what its root cause was. He’d always have an inkling that he was looking for something, but his memory has been a little hazy since going on that wild goose chase with Zenitsu and Inosuke.

“I hope you find what truly makes you happy, Tanjirou,” Oyakata-sama said, offering him a gentle smile.

Those words echoed around his head, his chest suddenly tightening as all he could really hope for is to truly find what he was missing and yearning for.

As Tanjirou walked through the busy streets of Tokyo, he passed by a couple arguing about something - well the girl with pink and green hair was going on about something while the guy wearing a white face mask was just guiding her so she doesn’t bump into anyone while they walked.

There was a twinge of recognition that was sparked in his mind when he saw the couple, but he couldn’t place who they were or why he seemed to recognize them in the first place.

“...oh, can you just imagine it, Iguro? We’ll have the prettiest wedding if we have it fall under the day when the cherry blossoms are at full bloom!” The female said, giddy as she hugged her companion’s arm.

The male, the one named Iguro Tanjirou deduced, looked like he was blushing with how red the tip of his nose was getting. “I think we can do that,” His companion squealed in delight, already going on and on about wedding plans. 

You might have passed by them before, Tanjirou thought to himself, dismissing the dull ache in his chest when he saw them.

“I’m just exhausted,” He mumbled, getting a grip of himself and his emotions.

Joining the massive crowd in crossing the road, his eyes spotted a familiar head of (h/c) locks, swept up in a hairstyle that’s been ingrained in his brain for the past few years, just a few paces ahead of him. 

Could it be?

Tanjirou’s breath hitched, his heart was beating so fast against his sternum, and his eyes were focused on you, everything in his surroundings were forgotten, because all he see in this moment was you.

In the few seconds that Tanjirou had frozen, you were already a few feet away with a sea of people in between the both you. Cursing himself, he ran through the crowd, sincerely apologizing to each person that he accidentally elbowed, desperate to finally get to you - whoever you are that constantly plagued his mind and heart for the past few years.

After a few minutes of running and constant apologies, Tanjirou found you halfway up a set of stairs that leads to one of the quainter sides of Tokyo. “Wait!”

Startled out of your thoughts, you turned to see a young man hunched over over the railings of the stairs as he caught his breath. You were about to open your mouth to say something, but all coherent thoughts were thrown out of the window when the man lifted his gaze onto you.

It was the same kind, dark red eyes that you’ve constantly been dreaming of for years, your heart felt like it wanted to burst out of your chest with how fast it was beating. 

“It’s - it’s you,” Tanjirou smiled, tears forming in his eyes. You couldn’t help but smile back at him, tears of your own were threatening to spill over.

“What’s your name?”

A specific, personal one that always makes me think about TanZen is “hateful - take me away” because the instrumental’s calm atmosphere reminds me of the feeling that Zenitsu has when thinking about Tanjirou and his heartbeat!

- Because he's such an airhead when s/o talks to him he might wander off and sometimes space out, it's not because he wants or or s/o isn't interesting it's the way he is

- He is really calm so I don't think his relationship with s/o will have to much arguments

- S/o is the only person he really tries to listen to without spacing out ( Even though he accidently does)

- He likes resting his head on s/o's head or shoulder

- Being a pillar is super important but ever since he entered a relationship with s/o their safety and happiness is a huge priority for him too

- With s/o he's more caring and a little more kinder than some of the other people he interacts with

- If s/o is also a pillar/demon slayer he will literally be their 'shield' in battle, it's just a habit he has

- If s/o doesn't have associations with the demon slayer Muichirou will try his best to not get them too involved so they don't get hurt

- Zenitsu absolutely adores you, no question about it

- He loves being by your side every second of the day, clinging to you like a lost puppy

- He’s always telling you how great you are and how “you look so pretty all the time, princess.”

- Although he’s a bit talkative himself around you, as soon as you begin to talk, he goes silent and just lets you go on and on

-He loves listening to you rant about your day, complaining about how hard training was

-Or how much you loved the lunch you bought that day, explaining how juicy the meat was and then somehow changing the topic to how you can’t find your favorite sock and how you can’t live without it

- He especially loves how excited you get when you talk about something you’re passionate about

- He’ll rest his head on your lap and let you talk for hours, eyes never leaving your fast lips or squinty eyes (from how much you were smiling)

- He likes to make sure to add in some commentary, just to let you know he was listening to you and he’s happy to hear the excitement and joy in your voice

- He never rushes you with your stories, or teases you about getting side tracked again,

- Honestly, he thinks it’s kinda cute

- Sometimes, he’ll even ask you to retell him stories you’ve shared in the past, just to listen to the excitement in your voice
