Getting a date with zenigata is very very easy if he likes you enough

He CERTAINLY liked you enough, because he asked you out after working with him for a mere 2 months

ok so my kira hcs got a LOT of attention?? figured i’d do some for zeni!! i never really was the type to do hcs but theyre such a good way to get ideas out without worrying about perfect grammar and writing?? anyway im doing the more serious interpretations of zeni, like in part 1 !! i actually prefer his more overzealous animations but im just in that noir detective romance kinda mood today

zenigata i feel isn’t quite as obsessed with catching lupin in the earlier media, like the manga, part 1, and the earlier movies

of course, he is to some degree, but not as much as part 2 or 3

however this doesn’t mean he doesn’t still get hotheaded and downright depressed when something goes wrong, so for the sake of the vibe rn, he’s a frequent at bars and drinks in his hotels a lot when he gets these episodes

who cares how you two met? let’s say it was at one of the bars one day!

he tends to be in turmoil a lot whenever he resorts to physically going out to drink, and he suffers a bit from resting b face already

so you notice it when he’s sitting by himself at the bar on a wednesday evening, three or four empty shot glasses in front of him

eh, what could hurt?

he looked at you through the corner of his eye when you sat down next to him instead of any of the other empty seats

“. . . can i help you, miss?”

you just sat silently and ordered your favorite alcoholic beverage in a glass on the rocks

he thinks you’re... strange, sure, but notably pretty.

he says nothing else until you finally strike up a conversation a little while later!!

he seems glad for the company and you end up exchanging numbers later in the night

one of your favorite nicknames for him is ‘old man’ just bc he doesn’t like the nickname pops (he really just gets reminded of lupin and co when u call him that. he prefers to only have you on his mind when he isn’t working, so don’t call him pops unless you want the vibe to be messed up)

he chuckles whenever u call him that and shakes his head

he’d quip back with something like “you don’t seem to mind.”

zeni, off duty, is a fan of nighttime strolls through the city

he sees the aesthetics of a city in the late night hours

not bright cities with a lot of hustle and bustle like NYC or Detroit, but in smaller cities

few people out, streetlights with warm glows, big buildings illuminated under the moon, it’s his favorite time of day

these are the best times he spends with you

he’s calm, and gets to set aside his worries even for just a little bit

you always are sure to get lunch and dinner with him whenever you can so that he doesn’t have to live on cup ramen and bottled water (or booze, depending on the day) and he always insists on paying for the both of you

you’ve kept him company for so long at this point, he doesn’t know how he’d function without you there to talk him through his episodes and lay with him at night;,,,,,

Ok so you thought it was kind of annoying at first but,, he grew on u pretty quick

Yes he is prone to mood swings but like,, u didnt care

Zenigata’s inflated ego matches lupins almost equally in part 2 but he’s less open about it
