What is your least favorite thing about the K-pop industry? Aside from the obvious such as mismanagement/mistreatment and exploitation of talent, scamming of fans, and the overall toxicity surrounding the genre?

This one might be a pretty bland answer, but the extremity of parasocial relationships.

Yeah, I can be parasocial as fuck; why do you think I write smut? Why do you think I started this blog? But I'm talking about how it goes beyond that.

These companies impose dating bans and indirectly give money to Dispatch who exposes the secret relationships.

I think that's apeshit. Western celebrities can date freely (at least, not with the same amount of rage from fans) but K-pop idols can't? Companies want to make the idols give off the illusion that they're only available to fans (cue Eunbi saying "I don't need a boyfriend, I have Rubi) then go Pikachu-:O when fans find out that's not true.

Also, I have to point out the hypocrisy in this matter. I've seen someone rage about Karina dating but then cry because they made her apologize. LMFAO, why do you think they made her apologize? Because of you.

So, uh, fanboy or fangirl with sanity. No, you'll never be able to fuck Hanni or Eunbi or Karina. Accept that and stop harassing these idols.

What do you think of Le sserafim’s Coachella performance? And what about the extreme hate comments and backlash surrounding the group?

Super late to this but hi! Here's my two cents:

I listened to it and it was actually... not that bad? Yeah, they had a few slip-ups like voice cracks and being out of tune. But it wasn't a terrible, life-ruining performance imo. But I can see why people would think otherwise.

Yeah, I don't support the hate comments, especially the severe ones involving Eunchae. I think criticism is okay (i.e. more vocal lessons, improvement). But I've seen a few that really cross the line and it's depressing because it's just K-pop. Why are you wishing death on a 17-year-old because of a performance?

Let’s imagine a world where, due to the various mistreatments of companies, K-pop idols have unionized and voted to go on strike. No music or comebacks for the foreseeable future until they and the labels can come to an agreement regarding health, working conditions for minors, and fair pay. How would this affect the industry, and would you be willing to wait a year or so before new music can be released again?

I mean, I wouldn't mind. An idol's gotta do what an idol's gotta do: fight for good work conditions.

As for the music question: I'm a Baetokki who's been teased for years and years about a potential comeback and no promotions, including false rumors about Irene's solo coming out. I think I'll be fine.

Idol of The Year: Jang Wonyoung

I'm pretty proud of how far Wonyoung has come. It's like seeing your little sister grow up. Over the past year, she's gotten multiple brand deals, is a household name at this point, and has shown off how she truly is the Nation's Center. Let's not forget how her singing has improved.

Everyone knows about Wonyoung now that she's in IVE. She's known for her visuals AND performance, is a very mature and well-bred person, and the muse/ambassador/model for several brands. And she's only eighteen! There's no stopping her.

So yeah, idol of the year? The bunny maknae Wonyoung.

Rookie Idol/s of the Year: NewJeans

NewJeans have achieved a PAK this early in their career. Their discography is flawless, and although I am not into them that much, I can confidently say they're one of the most successful rookies. They have it all.

Most Improved Idol: Miyawaki Sakura

Sakura was always seen as just a pretty face and second center. I really disliked that people saw her that way, even her fans, because she has so much potential.

After she debuted in LESSERAFIM, she proved all her haters wrong. Her dancing has improved, and so have her facial expressions. Hybe has let her sing more, which shows just how much she's practiced to get to this point of success. Miyawaki Sakura, I am proud of you!
