my current sunless sea captain is a fathers bone’s captain, and the one before him was a fathers bones captain, and my current captain has a Scion, so I’m really just playing this cursed family where every dad is a deadbeat dad who leaves for cigarettes and ends up lost at zee
if I end up saving an officer between runs I’m tempted to choose the cladery heir even though she’s relatively “cheap” so it can be like, this current captain’s kid and The Weird Morbid Chick He Left Mom For

Sunless Sea Lives Rent-Free in My Head, Part Five: The Gods of the Zee
Stone, Storm and Salt. They fascinate me.
I love the description of Storm's Attention, of the Three this one haunts me most IRL. But in-game, Salt seems like the most terrible, at least its curse has the most devastating repercussions (I mean, the curses Storm and Stone don't have much influence on gameplay at all, AFAIK; but Salt can hit you so hard that litterally your whole line of scions will fucking feel it).
So whenever I meet a follower of Salt, I better let them build that little Shrine of the Salt. I mean. It's kinda cute.
Until, of course, it isn't anymore.
But then again, who doesn't like a good little cry from time to time?

ROUND 1 / SIDE B / POLL 1
Kisa Hatasashi (@skeleton-monarch / @seabornchild) v. Zee Zalinos (@zeloinator)
Kisa Hatasashi:
q. What is your WoL name and pronouns? a. Kisa Hatasashi - She/Her
q. What is your WoL's species? a. Au Ra
q. What is your WoL's class? Or classes? a. Dragoon/Lancer
q. What data centre/server are you on, if you want people to find you? a. NA/Crystal
q. Tell us a bit about your WoL! a. Kisa was set up by her parents to marry rich and continue the family legacy; Kisa hated this thought enough to burn down the dresser which held the very expensive wedding dress her mother bought her. She left shortly thereafter to do what she’s always wanted to do: fight. If you ever need to find Kisa, just follow the sound of clanging metal and battle cries and you’re sure to happen upon her eventually. She’s not fond of being a “hero,” but she doesn’t mind the adventure the title has come with.
q. Why should YOU win? (Answer IC!) a. Why shouldn’t I win? I’m not in the business of losing and my friend’s coin purse is heavy enough that I’ve no interest in money making ventures.
Zee Zalinos:
q. What is your WoL name and pronouns? a. Zee Zalinos she/her
q. What is your WoL's species? a. Au’ra
q. What is your WoL's class? Or classes? a. WHM/AST Healer Main
q. What data centre/server are you on, if you want people to find you? a. Aether/Faerie
q. Tell us a bit about your WoL! a. Zee has always wanted to travel, I dont have much lore for her early life yet but once she had decided to travel to Gridania and become a Conjurer no one and nothing could stop her. (/spoilers for all expansions, as well as tw for losing limbs, sudden disabilities) In Heavensward she lost both Haurchefaunt, a companion she didn't trust until he gave his life for her, and her right leg. Not able to slow down she forced herself to learn to walk with her new prosthetic leg and continued her path through Stormblood. As a White Mage Zee never felt like she could discuss her crippling pain and phantom limb symptoms from her lost leg, it wasn’t until mid Shadowbringers, after long talks with Ardbert (or scoldings as he would describe it as) she finally told her companions, the scions and her trusted friends, about her struggles with her leg. At the end of Endwalker Zenos manages to injure Zee much more severely than it appears at first, the quick and panicked healing magics Zee performed on herself masking the severity for some time. It is not long until Zee looses her left arm, gaining her second prosthetic limb, but doing much better in dealing with its loss. Zee is a pure healer, though an extremely aggressive one, every other class she attempts is lacking the same touch and skill, no matter how much time she may commit to learning. Healing comes as easy as a breath to Zee, White magic being the simplest for her to wield. The stars and planet gazing of Astrologian winning her over very quickly after arriving in Ishguard. Though in her free time Zee is known to be an expert crafter, often holing herself inside her house and focusing purely on her work for days. Culinarian was the fastest for her to pick up, with Goldsmith being hot on its heels as her second best skill. Though post Endwalker Zee is ever busy with crafting, the call of her island from Tataru has her visiting as often as she can sneak away. While on her island Zee barely, if ever, uses her prosthetic arm, only using the prosthetic leg when she is wanting more maneuvering freedom without one of her beloved mounts out helping her. One of Zee’s most hidden passions is her animal caretaking. While her Chocobo, Ariadnae, is ever a worrier for Zee, the wol is always forcing her beloved bird to rest in between their big adventures.
q. Why should YOU win? (Answer IC!) a. Well, as your beloved and hard working healer I feel like a little recognition in a win would be nice! (Don’t look at what I’m casting Glare 3 is a Healing spell!)

The Political Economy: Know 5 Businessmen-Turned-Politicians and Their Impact
As the recent election results unfolded, the nation held its breath, not just for the political implications but also for the economic fallout. It’s a well-established fact that political developments can send shockwaves through the share market, influencing investor sentiment and market trends. In this context, it’s intriguing to examine the journey of five businessmen who not only made their mark in the corporate world but also ventured into the realm of politics, serving as Politicians.
1. Naveen Jindal:
A scion of the prestigious Jindal family, Naveen Jindal is known for his ventures in steel, power, and infrastructure. Serving as the Member of Parliament for Kurukshetra constituency in Haryana, Jindal, representing the Indian National Congress, brought forth his business acumen to address issues of industrial development and rural empowerment.
2. Rajeev Chandrasekhar:
An entrepreneur turned politician, Rajeev Chandrasekhar made his mark in the technology and media sectors before venturing into politics. As an Independent MP representing Karnataka in the Rajya Sabha, Chandrasekhar advocated for issues such as defense preparedness, digital governance, and urban development.
3. Subhash Chandra:
Known for revolutionizing the Indian media landscape with Zee TV, Subhash Chandra ventured into politics by serving as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. His contributions ranged from advocating for media freedom to addressing issues related to rural development and education.
4. Kirit Somaiya:
Kirit Somaiya, an accomplished chartered accountant and entrepreneur, entered politics and served as a Member of Parliament from Mumbai North East constituency in Maharashtra. He actively raised issues related to corruption, public finance management, and infrastructure development during his tenure. Somaiya’s background in finance and business added a unique perspective to his contributions in the political arena.
5. Anil Ambani:
As the scion of the Ambani family, Anil Ambani’s foray into politics was not as prominent as his business endeavors. He served in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament of India from Uttar Pradesh as an Independent MP between 2004 and 2006. However, his recent financial challenges have thrust him into the limelight. Facing debt burdens and legal battles, Ambani’s conglomerate, Reliance Group, underwent significant restructuring efforts. Despite the setbacks, Ambani has been striving to stage a comeback, focusing on sectors such as defense, infrastructure, and renewable energy to revitalize his business empire.
These businessmen turned politicians exemplify the dynamic landscape of Indian entrepreneurship and politics. While some have seamlessly navigated both realms, others have faced formidable challenges along the way. Yet, their contributions have left an indelible mark on India’s economic and political landscape, underscoring the symbiotic relationship between business and governance in the world’s largest democracy.

Why do you not like the dilettantes debut? I really enjoy your commentary on the ES-s, so I'm curious!
I'm glad you enjoy them, because I love to share my opinions at length lol.
uuuguughghguhgughguhghghghhhhhhh. Okay, the thing about The Dilettante's Debut is that I wanted to like it. I always want to like Exceptional Stories! I like it when things are good! And I will admit that it was not exactly set up for success for me specifically. It was only the third ES I played after resubscribing (after several years of not being an EF). Go Tell the King of Cats and The Ballad of Johnny Croak were the ones before this, and those are two of my all-time faves, so I had a little bit forgotten that Exceptional Stories were sometimes bad.
So, now we know how we got here. Let's take a look at what we've got.
Here's my quick summary of the story: The Languid Dilettante, the last scion of the once-successful Fairfax family, wants to make his debut in society by hosting a salon. The Dilettante's grandmother was once a successful Zee Captain, but ended up disgracing their family (I think it's implied that she was possibly a Seeker?), and all of their fortune was given to another branch of their family, the Eversons. Anyway, you work with the Languid Dilettante and his only remaining servant, the Steadfast Footman, to plan this salon, and also spy on his cousin, the Wild-Eyed Socialite (the Everson heiress), who asks you to maybe help her ruin the Dilettante's salon. When the salon actually happens, you discover the Steadfast Footman's secret goal was to lure the Wild-Eyed Socialite away from the party and use shapeling arts to turn her into a starved man, so she will no longer be a threat to the Dilettante's success. You can either help him with this, stop him (the Socialite escapes and will go tell the other attendees unless you pass a check, dependent on how much favor you've built up with her), or out his plan to the entire party. The party's over, later you meet up with the Dilettante to figure out how well you did and get your reward, and that's the end.
I feel like I get what the writer was going for- all these rich people are bad! The Languid Dilettante is pretty bad to his footman, the Steadfast Footman is planning to mutilate a woman, the Wild-Eyed Socialite is... well actually I can't quite figure out what she did. She's kind of a lush? She's not very nice to the Dilettante? She has too much fun? I don't know. I guess it doesn't matter. I think the point here is nobody is good, to help them is immoral, but also, just like in real life, there are opportunity costs. Doing The Right Thing might ruin what you've been working for!
But... this isn't real life. This is a story. That I paid to play. And the way it came across to me when I was playing it was that I was being punished with a middling ending for not having unwavering fealty to the Fairfax family, but also for not betraying the Fairfaxes before I had any reason to. How was I supposed to know that I should have been undermining the people who hired me to help them?
Okay, I'm going on too long about this. I just can't really put words to the feeling I got when I realized the story had assumed that, because I was happy to help the Dilettante pick an outfit and guest list for his party, I also, obviously, was on board with deforming a woman for him. It just felt like a HUGE leap in commitment to this family.
Also, one of the things that left me hating it at the time I was actually a little incorrect about. If you go along with the Footman's plan, in the end the Dilettante (who doesn't know what you did) says that the Socialite's family sent her to a sanatorium. Now, as much as I enjoy Victoriana, I'm not British and I don't live in the late 1800's, so I was actually wrong about what a sanatorium was. I'd heard it before as another term for an asylum, but apparently it's actually more of a hospital for people with physical health problems, most commonly TB. When I had read that ending, I was left feeling like... "okay, so this story expected me to mutilate this woman, and then she's sent to a place that is, famously, where unruly women were sent and then regularly abused?" I don't think sanatoriums actually have that kind of history, at least not to the extent that asylums did (although I just ASSUME medical malpractice was as common in there as consumption), so my negative impression was SLIGHTLY unjustified. But only slightly.
Anyway, to put a final nail in the coffin of The Dilettante's Debut, Unto Dust came out two months later and I thought it did everything The Dilettante's Debut was trying to do but better. If i want to play a story about the last scion of a noble family, who's kind of a recluse, runs his household with the help of only one notable servant, and who needs my help to plan a big party to help honor the legacy of one of this ancestors, well, I wouldn't pick this one.
#es spoilers#es 100% speedrun#i think i'm just gonna use that tag for all my ES thoughts#i guess lol

~~~... Love Bird ...~~~
A Kit in A Forest:
Love Bird spent much longer at their home forest village than any of his other siblings, but it also took him twice as long to hit puberty. As a kit in the forest they went by a different name, only taking on the name 'Love Bird' years and year later. Their forest name was Rune, a name only a handful know in present day. (When talking about his childhood he uses mostly they/them pronouns, once he was ripped from his home and his puberty hit he begins to use he/him pronouns.) While their life in their home forest was simple, Rune loved it. They excelled at archery, the shining star of their village. Other than keeping the area safe there was no hint of danger when it hit them. Rune was patrolling with his eldest sister, Leif, and 2 family friends, Maja and Frida, when a small armed Garlean unit attacked. Leif was killed protecting to others, Maja and Frida taking severe wounds but in the end they were captured with Rune.
Prisoner of Garlemald:
He was ripped away from his home and from the body of his sister. While in transit Rune’s puberty hit, ripping away his name and his ‘normal’ body all while captive. For a Viera he was quite young, Maja and Frida being only a decade older than he, at 80 he should have been grown and already set on a stable path forward in life. Now he had nothing. Kept separated from Maja and Frida, he was eventually broken from their usual torture. Taking no name, and given no name in turn by the Garleans, he goes mostly nameless other than his assassin moniker, Shade. During the end of Heavensward and beginning of Stormblood he is put on the trail of Zee and informed she is his mark. Kill her or they destroy his village, no failure allowed. Upon Zee and Shade's first meeting, and fight, Shade manages to injure Zee before having to retreat. This small 'success' (in his eyes) gives him cause to return, report, and recover. Upon this return, one deemed un-needed by his handler after his arrival, Shade is kept for an experimental 'treatment' before they return him to his hunt. Shade and Zee end up clashing 3 more times before his handler decides he is a failure. Upon Shade's final return to his prison he is met with an attack, ending in him shot in the chest. Zee and the scions find him there, dying in the snow, unable to leave him they heal him and take him into their care as he recovers. After being in a small coma for a few days he awakens in a wholly new place, tucked away from prying eyes in the Scions base. Deliriously he manages to stumble out an 'escape', doing his best to make it to his home, his village. It took far too long for his liking but he made it there finally. Met with the sight of the long destroyed rubble of his home he decided he must be reborn. Zee and the Scions find him shortly after his arrival, Zee offering him a place within their ranks if he wants, or simply a place to recover before starting a new life for himself.
Love Bird chooses to fight with the Scions.
Freedom:
Kugane served as Love Bird's new home between working with the Scions, doing errands for Tataru (both Scion and non-Scion work), and recovering from the many injuries both old and new. The calm, busy, peace of the city helped with even the worst insomniac nights he was haunted by. It was there he took his 'City' name, after quite a while of going by 'Rune' again until he settled on his perfect name. But he did not have long to integrate himself into the Scions before they, and eventually even he, were whisked off to an unprepared for adventure.
A Strange Land, a strange quest:
Love Bird is taken by the Crystal Exarch after Alphinaud, choosing to stay in the Crystarium and do odd jobs where he can before the others show up. He bonds with Alisae a lot in the years between other arrivals, learning many different ways to fight to best help when she called upon his aid. This is where he begins to play around with creating what will go on to become his evasion tank, BladeWeaver. Right before Zee arrives in the First Love Bird finally leaves to travel to Eulmore in an attempt to get in and learn from a Master Dancer at the Beehive. Luckily his beautiful voice and skill with instruments got him easy entrance and so his learning began (until Zee managed to get into Eulmore and pick him up for her party)!
The Creation of BladeWeaver:
Throughout Love Bird's time in the First he had secretly been working on a new way to battle, combining the skills of Dancer and Ninja with the magics of Dark Knight. A way for him to tank while using all of his skills as an assassin. It took quite some time before he was ready to unveil it for battle, spending endless nights with Sidguru sparing and testing things. Finally, for their trip to Tural, Love Bird has become confident enough to step into the light of Tank with his creation! (More BladeWeaver lore to come in its own little post since I can't make this longer than it already it >.<)
"Ready?" the Witcher murmurs.
She glances back. The tavern is dark, shrouded in shadow and smaller, somehow. Her home for so many years, now quiet and still, and no longer on her care, at least for now. She feels a pang of sorrow settle in her chest, tears blurring her vision for a moment.
"Zee?"
Geralt's is calm. His gold eyes shine through like a beacon and she focuses on him, gripping the offered hand. He pulls her into the saddle in front of him. The weight of his arm over her waist is a comfort. She feels the press of his lips on her hair through the wool of her shawl.
"You trust me?" he rumbles.
"With my life," she replies.
He grunts a short chuckle. "Let's go."
ROUND 2 / SIDE B / POLL 1
Zee Zalinos (@zeloinator) v. El Shizuka (@bounusstage)
Zee Zalinos:
q. Why should YOU win? (Answer IC!) a. Well, as your beloved and hard working healer I feel like a little recognition in a win would be nice! (Don’t look at what I’m casting Glare 3 is a Healing spell!)
El Shizuka:
q. What is your WoL name and pronouns? a. El Shizuka, He/They
q. What is your WoL's species? a. Xaela Au'ra
q. What is your WoL's class? Or classes? a. A malicious healer mostly, but will fill any role.
q. What data centre/server are you on, if you want people to find you? a. Crystal, Diabolos
q. Tell us a bit about your WoL! a. They were adopted by a merchant couple who lived in Doma. The couple were able to flee to Kugane during the occupation and and on the way, found El and his siblings. Quite how they ended up so far from home was another question, but one the couple didn't dwell on too long before they took the children in. As things grew more dire and business become slimmer, El decided to embark on a journey to help make ends meet as an adventurer. While El's siblings were content to help with the family business, El found themselves rather inept in the sales department. Indeed, they often caused more trouble than anything. He was charming at first sure, but protective to a fault. Strong willed and accustomed to the slimy nature of swindlers and thieves, El often found himself causing an uproar in the streets if he sensed anything or noticed something was amiss. If he wasn't giving someone hell by messing with them, he was definitely caught in a physical altercation with someone brazen enough to try and take from them. It did occur to El that some took out of necessity. But with their own family struggling to make ends meet, he couldn't just turn a blind eye. Indeed, it was well known not to attempt to steal from the Shizuka family stalls. Not unless the only thing they wanted to walk away with was a black eye or a missing tooth. Perhaps even both. Unfortunately, this did nothing for business and as such, El was relegated to more… behind the scenes duties. Perhaps for the best. Still, as things became harder El wanted to lend a hand anyway he could. Seeking a means to render aid some other way, he heard tell of brave souls who ventured into the unknown, who would come back with bags of gil in hand. Being the adventurous sort himself, El made it their mission to set a course for that adventuring life he's heard so much about. Though their family was unsure of the idea at first, he assured everyone he'd be fine. The merchant couple couldn't deny their son's ability to hold his own. After all, it was he and their eldest that often kept food on the table as hunters. Not to mention the myriad confrontations their wayward son had gotten themselves into. Though adventuring was lucrative work, it was unarguably dangerous too, but El promised his family he'd make it home with piles of gil in hand and then some. He never told anyone about his visions though, and that part of the reason he set out was to find some answers. Though he never gave them much thought, and even used it to his advantage at times, there was an undeniable pull. A call to arms so to speak. At least, that was what it felt like to El. They had no other way to describe it, and nobody at home to talk to about it. But perhaps, out there in the unknown, he may find someone who understood.
q. Why should YOU win? (Answer IC!) a. El shrugs with a weak smile across his face. "In truth, I but joined for the fun of it.." He said with a flick of his tail. "But for the pity points, I have a family to feed." Said El, their smile widening. Though it was a bright expression indeed, there seemed to be a touch of insincerity in it. "My parents are but humble merchants in their twilight years after all." El said, hand over his heart while his half lidded eyes found their focus on the ground at his feet. "All I want is to come home to them with enough gil that they may rest easy." He finished, laying on the drama as he spoke.
q. Anything else you wanna add? a. This is the most I've ever thought about El's backstory. but I loff him i do i swaer. biig lizards good. ; Q;
OKAY HI so this may get confusing so let me explain: my mordremoth scion is two people - Mordremoth’s Mind & Mordremoth’s Vessel. They were split in two after well Mordremoth was during its death
firstly we have Mordremoth’s Mind aka Traum! Traum has all of Trahearne’s memories, all in all he IS Trahearne, they just don’t look like him anymore
Traum was born quite literally from where Trahearne had died. They were raised by the hylek and given the nickname “Traum” meaning dream. They were their Valiant Dreamer. All in all they ARE Trahearne, they just don’t know who or why Trahearne would be important, as far as they are concerned the memories they have are just weird dreams because they have never met another sylvari until they meet a nightmare courtier called Caliban. Caliban introduces them to the nightmare court & there has always been SOMETHING in the back of Traum’s head telling them that they do not belong there. They are not a courtier. They’re something more
Mordremoth’s Vessel, also known as Nimhe Floresta - given the title “Forest Fairy” by the other scions, ze actually KNOWS the other scions and has no reason to believe ze isn’t the only scion of mordremoth
however, ze has always felt like half of hir is missing, like hir heart was ripped in two and ze only got half. Sometimes ze has phantom pains or even actually gets HURT from when Traum is hurt. It isn’t until Nimhe convinces Celesti (my scion of Kralk) to go back to the jungle that ze realises that hir soul is LITERALLY split in two bodies. The two are connected by Nimhe has yet to approach Traum as they seem happy with their life and Nimhe doesn’t want to put the burden on them.
how cool would it be if a sylvari’s wyld hunt was to become mordremoth’s scion
and then kill him
and then replace him
The current timeline of the Archives [A word from the writer]
Many of you may be aware that the Archives of Thedas is based of the amanatus family (which belongs to our guild leader Zee).
However there are problems concerning dates with some of the stories and documents posted (as of writing, 17 June 2020) are using a modified version of the Amanatus timeline.
Until we can decide on the foundation of the guild (a date that is fairly debated), i will go with modified timeline.
Here are the changes in this modified timeline:
Several Characters births and events take place earlier than in their counterparts timeline.
The foundation of the guild is between 1327-1328 AE
The primary guild hall is gilded hollow.
Scarlet War is the conflict that makes the guild famous
