Oh god, we got to the Zaughty era....

Hi, Sea! How's it going? I'm here bc my friend has a Zouis theory and she'll like your opinion on it bc apparently I'm no help, she doesn't have a Tumblr so she asked me to tell you about it.

So, the theory that she has is that Zayn and Louis had a falling out after Good Years was released. Since they were reportedly on speaking (but not friends) terms in 2015/16 meaning that they talked about the Zaughty v Louis fallout. So, is not that.

But then Zayn didn't showed up to that X Factor performance even after he said he will so Louis was hurt but then in 2017 they were reportedly on speaking (but not friends) terms again. So, is not that either.

But then in December 2018 the song Good Years was released and half the fandom thinks is about Louis right? So, the same day Good Years was released Louis tweeted something about someone being a hypocrite. Most people assumed that to be about Zayn bc timing but some people believe that to be about the X Factor bc apparently there was some X Factor related drama that day or close to that day and apparently later that day Louis tweeted something about the X Factor. So, who knows?

Then in 2019 Louis confused some people when he revealed that he and Zayn haven't been able to reconnect with each other even though he said in 2017 that they were on speaking (but not friends) terms. And in an interview (that she believes is also from 2019) Zayn hinted that he had a fight with someone bc they were having a discussion about a song and he (Zayn) told them that he (Zayn) wrote that song about them.

And using my friend's words rn: If that doesn't scream Zouis to you then I don't know what to tell you.

Personally, I think having a falling out about a song is a bit petty. An argument/disagreement sure but a falling out? Especially bc is not like Louis hasn't written songs about Zayn. Also, Good Years is not exactly a bad song. I think some people might misinterpreted it but Zayn's emotions give away his true intentions. At the same time, I do feel that if they were already in a "rocky relationship" then having a disagreement about a song was probably the final straw and that's probably why they still "need more time". You know what I mean?

But then in 2021 (or was it 2020?) Zayn hinted that he and Louis were on speaking terms again. So, who knows?

P.S - Apperently Niall also had a falling out with Zayn around that time but we're not sure bc we don't really follow him.

I agree with the general outline— Louis said that when she was ill, Jay told him it was important to repair things with Zayn. They seemed to be reconciled in 2017 (after the JHO performance), but something happened and they were on the outs again by 2019. Louis’ “hypocrite” tweet was very strongly felt, and may be a bit impulsive. I tend to think it was a reaction to Good Years.

(I did not know about the Zayn interview in 2019.)

I think it’s complicated. Louis has always been fiercely protective of the 1D brand, and has never said anything bad about his 1D days except to frame it as, “I was young and stupid; I made some mistakes and had to be reprimanded.” We know that that isn’t a universal sentiment amongst his ex-bandmates.

People can nurse a grudge in retrospect, especially if they aren’t exactly on speaking terms, so I think between Zayn and Louis, there are probably misunderstandings that run deep. I don’t think it was Good Years that caused the break, but it stirred up some argument in the past, likely from the days leading up to the end of 1D— I would say 2014-15. A lot went on during that time.

We know that Zayn’s sisters made social media posts expressing condolences for Fizzy’s death in 2019, and may have attended her memorial services. We know that Louis followed Zayn on insta for 1D tenth anniversary, and also liked his post about Khai’s birth in 2020. I don’t know about Zayn hinting that he had spoken to Louis at all recently. To me, the Zouis divorce was the most tragic break in 1D friendships. Zayn and Louis could be good friends for what they’re dealing with right now.

Jaya! Real talk. I was so 😪😪 when Zayn said he didn't make any friends in the band :( I know they are not close anymore but how can he erase zouis and ziam like this ? It was funny with zarry but this is 😩

imma be honest. as soon as zaughty boy rose and fell in such a short span of time, i immediately clocked zayn as the kind of person who could easily distance himself from a past acquaintance/relationship and say that it didn’t affect him (even if it may have). i’m not at all surprised he’s saying this kind of stuff but i’m so sad he is. and honestly yeah the first person i thought of was liam. for zayn to say that he had no real or meaningful friendships in the band is so shitty and obviously untrue. i don’t know why he feels like he has to burn every bridge he builds but it’s just unfair to the other people in these relationships for him to devalue their friendships like that. 

also i’ve always thought that by the way the other guys were blindsided by him leaving, it didn’t seem like he often spoke about how he was feeling? (correct me if i’m wrong) so maybe he was harboring resentment that none of them noticed and it just exploded out of him through him leaving and he considered it a sign that they werent friends anymore when in reality, none of them were able to tell he was feeling that way (or were unable to really do anything) so it just put some distance between them and that was enough for him to feel like it was all over.

and obviously idk the whole situation and maybe some shit was said between them all but even then to say that the whole relationship didn’t matter or didn’t even exist? it’s disappointing. like even i can acknowledge that i had some amazing times with the people i’ve fallen out with and that we were really good friends, even if it was only for a short time, so it just makes me sad that he feels like none of that mattered

Zayn knew what he was doing when he trademarked "zaughty" lol. He knew Shahid would take advantage of him as soon as he made that zaughty jackets... Zayn never cuts people out of his life unless he has a good reason, people should remember that.

He’s very smart, indeed. He only cuts people out for good reason, and then those people expose themselves with ugly behavior. And as much as I’m loving mature, unbothered Zayn, if there’s so much as one trace of what Zayn contributed to that song still present, I hope he quietly sues the fuck out of Naughty Boy.
