i just remembered a lonnnngg time ago (may 27th 2016 to be exact 🤯) i made a list of my half of the 'sunshine' casts' names and what each part of their names mean and i decided why not share it here!!

Okay, so Zaria is an interesting case when it comes to characters. Zaria is something we (my sister and I) like to call a "soarinite" which is a type of fairy-like being that's name derives from the word "soar" (like flying) and "sprite" (like the fairy kind). His function is to aid in his assigned magic user's abilities and help them hone and enhance them (his being Zeta). He is essentially a "soul" with a form that can be seen when he chooses to be and can be touched when he allows himself to. I might explain soarinites in detail another time tho lol.

He is representative of "luck" and thus is where his name comes from. Zaria is Greek for "dice" and while it may be feminine in form, I chose it anyway bc I thought it matched well with Zeta, given he has what is considered a "feminine" name too and honestly?? gender roles can suck it lolll. I chose the name Zaria because I wanted to reference "lucky dice," which is what his wings have on them, a traditional pair of dice. They are a symbol of luck, given their opposite sides add up to seven and seven is considered a lucky number. This when I chose his name I also considered because his magic user's name, Zeta, denotes the number seven when used in a numerical manner in its Greek form.

Zaria's middle name is also "Tyche" which means good fortune or good luck.

for zaria's design, his hair intentionally uses the color green to signify luck and good fortune and he has undertones of purple from zeta and yellow highlights from norie :}
