Here is an “in progress” shot of a new collab we have in the works with the crazy talented and rising colorwork star: @zaneteknits. I first fell in love with her work when I came across her “Pagan Sky” pullover. When @primroseyarnco reached out and offered to collaborate, I was equally thrilled about the opportunity and terrified of the breathtakingly bright colours which are nothing like I've ever designed with before.⁠ .⁠ So I looked for something that might help me find a way, again drawing inspiration from my Latvian heritage. ⁠ .⁠ Austras Koks - a concept in Latvian mythology - the connection between the three realms. The roots are connected to the underworld; the central part is the earthly world, illuminated by the Sun, and the foliage is the kingdom of heaven. ⁠ .⁠ I hope that I've shown there is a place for anything within these three realms. It's an excellent opportunity to try out different colour combinations and prove that ancient motifs look great in bright colours, too. 🤩⁠ . The one thing I value more than anything on this planet, especially when supporting small businesses, is customer service and the value found there. And I was immensely proud and humbled, to work with these two insanely talented women to produce an impeccable collaboration for NYSW, The Herbalist Swoncho by @handmadecloset & Austras Koks Pullover by @zaneteknits, which we now offer pre orders (for the original kits), on our website. @zaneteknits- blew my mind with her insanely stunning Pagan Sky pattern (of which I currently have on my needles), and I knew her design esthetic would translate immaculately in our yarns. The beautiful patterns she creates, are only matched by her warm, welcoming and supportive personality. It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know her and see her transform our products beyond our expectations. You all know my love for @handmadecloset. She is now part of the Primrose family, as our lead knitwear designer, and we are incredibly grateful to have her as part of our team. I’ve known Olga for a few years now, and when you click with someone, you just click! My husband and I were so happy to house her and her husband for the weekend at NYSW, where we were able to stay up late chatting our passion of knitting (while the boys spent most of the time chatting tech)… but I found out more about her during those 48 hours then I could over the longest phone chat. Giving love to those who *allow* us (yes, you guys give us the ability to go to work every day living our dream job), and do what we do, what we are driven to do, and what makes us the most happy in the world, is something we can both, not thank y’all enough for. “Pagan Sky” Kits have just hit the website! We are so pumped about this year long KAL and this first featured kit to kick it off! I included all the details below, as well as began an FO thread & Chatter thread on Ravelry. -What should I be knitting?: Knit anything that is a colorwork pattern, or anything that is a cable pattern, or something that is a combination of both. -Do I have to knit in Primrose Yarn?: No, but for every project you complete in Primrose, you receive an additional entry. (IE: finish a cabled hat in our ROAN DK, you receive one entry for the FO and one entry for using our yarn, totaling 2 entries for the one project.) -Can I knit accessories and garments?: 100% yes! This is a year long KAL, and I sure as heck don’t want to be told I have to knit heavy cabled sweaters the entire year! Mix it up;…an accessory here, a garment there! Whatever you fancy, but just keep in mind, only FO posts here and on Instagram get you entries for prizes. -Do I have to participate in the chatter thread?: Nope, not at all. If you are unable to use Ravelry and you want to participate, post your photos on Instagram using the hashtag: #2022colorworkandcableskalfos. This will be the official way to post your finished items on Instagram. Participation posts (that are not FO posts) should use the hashtag: #2022colorworkandcableskal -I am not great at color combinations, and definitely need help putting yarns together. Can you help?: Totally! each week, 1-2 kits will be hitting the website. In addition to that, each month, an official sweater kit will be added to the website. For example: January’s sweater kit is “Pagan Sky” Pullover by Zaneteknits. It kinda makes this a KAL within a KAL. AND- if you know of a pattern you are interested in knitting, but we don’t have a kit for it on the website, shoot me an email or call our shop, and we are happy to put something together for you at our kit prices ($2 off per skein).
