Kuldhara - Ruins of the village in Jaisalmer and popularly called #thehauntedvillage. It's a heritage site now. History points to lack of water a probable reason why the village was abandoned by its inhabitants around 200 years back but it's the tale behind abandonment which has gained currency among tourists. Tale - The diwan of jaisalmer Zalim Singh popular for his lack of charisma n wantonness was stung by the beauty of Kuldhara's sarpanch' s daughter n asked her to be taken in by him. Fearing his ruthlessness the villagers who were paliwal Brahmins asked for a day n night's time and the entire village fled the place a single night. Legend has it 83 other villages in the area fled too but don't know its authenticity.
