There is a Me Who Can Become Strong (Chapter 11)
Chapter 11: Who's the Black Kamen Rider?
The Rider's learn the identity of the mysterious black Para-DX, while Kiriya does some digging and runs into someone familiar at Gemn Corp...
AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/32857183/chapters/83055262
Kuroto sits on his desk, putting the last few details into his current project. Mu is curled up in the nest, a blanket still over him. The occasional groan and gasp can be heard, every once in a while, he would glitch. Kuroto looked over at him, worried. It had been a few days since the Pac-Man incident that had incited this effect, but something like this had never lasted this long. While it seemed that Mu was getting better, it seemed like the pain was less and the glitching was now few and far between…
It was still worrisome. The blankets shift and Mu pushes himself up to a sitting position, blearily looking up at Kuroto. Kuroto stands up, walking over and crouching down.
“How are you feeling?” He asks.
With a grumble, Mu answers, “Mm… Better, I guess…” From underneath the blanket, one can see that he’s taken his jacket off, only wearing the Drago Knight Hunter Z shirt he’d been wearing when he got like this. Even the undershirt he often wore, with its particularly long sleeves, had been discarded into a pile with his hoodie. A few scars can be seen peeking out from under the collar of his shirt. “I’ve got less of a headache and… I think the fever I got the other day’s gone now.”
“That’s good,” Kuroto nods, giving Mu a smile. He holds up the blank Gashat he’s been working on, “I’m almost done with this Gashat, then I won’t need the Proto Gashat. All I need is data.”
“What kind of data?” Readjusting his blankets, some of Mu’s arms can be seen, just a hint of scars that nearly seem to litter them.
For a moment, Kuroto wonders if he should actually tell Mu. The type of data he needs is… unique, but it’ll undoubtedly be helpful later on. Some part of him knows that Mu probably wouldn’t approve, though. Then again, Mu still didn’t know just what they might have to do to finish this game either. With a sigh, Kuroto finally says “The data of death.”
“That sounds ominous,”
Shaking his head, Kuroto just tells him, “Don’t worry about it,” Then remembers, “And if you’re feeling up to it today, my father wants to see you.”
Mu returns to lying in the bed, “Huh… We’ll see.”
---
With every passing day, Emu was closer to the end of his pediatric internship. He hadn’t thought much about it, until one of the nurses reminded him that it would be over in a week. Of course, there were other things to worry about, like Game Disease and this mysterious Gemn, plus Kiriya now knowing that Emu wasn’t actually human. That last one wasn’t exactly a bad thing, but it was definitely… different. Sometimes he and Kiriya would just sort of… hang out? Like Emu could just. Not be Emu.
Was that what having an actual friend was like? If it was, Emu was starting to understand the appeal. Not that he didn’t get along with the CR, and Nico to some extent. But it wasn’t like they knew his deepest secret.
Still, Emu couldn’t think much about any of that, at the moment. He was about to go see one of his patients, Shuhei, off as he left with his mother.
“Just in time for Christmas,” Emu notes. Having your leg in a cast but at least being with your family was probably better than being stuck in the hospital. That was probably the opinion of most kids, right? Emu wasn’t really sure nor did he think he was a good example to go by.
Despite going home just in time for Christmas, Shuhei didn’t look very excited. In fact, Shuhei’s response was the exact opposite, “I hate Christmas…” He said, sourly.
As he and his mom are about to leave, his mother says, “Let’s head home, then I’ll have to return to work…”
Startlingly, Shuhei drops his crutches. Emu doesn’t miss as his eyes glow red and he laughs a laugh that isn’t his. Then he takes off, somehow bolting away on the leg that was still broken. Already calling out his name and soon joined by Asuna, Emu takes off in a sprint, following after Shuhei.
Once they’re outside, they catch up to him, seeing that Shuhei has collapsed. The orange orbs of Game Disease are already forming on him and quick enough separate, forming Salty.
“He’s already separated?” Emu wonders, “And Salty looks different too…”
Salty gives an answer quickly, “That’s because I’m Level 3 now!” So Bugsters could level up in a way similar to Riders? That… may cause a problem later. But they could worry about that some other time.
Quickly, Emu pulls out Mighty Action X and Gekitotsu Robots, quickly transforming to fight Salty once more.
Mighty Action X!
Gekitotsu Robots!
Buttobase! Totsugeki! Gekitotsu punch! Gekitotsu Robots!
He sets about fighting Salty, already making good progress. It seemed even with the level up, Para-DX Level 3 still outmatched Salty’s Level 3. Which was good, that meant he should be able to defeat Salty pretty quickly.
Shakariki! Shakariki! Bad Bad! Shaka to Riki to Shakariki Sports!
Emu’s forced to dodge out of the way of a tire. Unfortunately, Gemn’s arrived, transformed to Level 3. That… Was going to make this fight a lot harder. Especially since he was now outnumbered. There was no way he’d be able to fight both of them like this.
There was an option, though. He grabs the Drago Knight Hunter Z Gashat.
Drago Knight Hunter Z!
Do-Do-Drago Kni-Kni-Kni-Knight! Dra! Dra! Drago Knight Hunter! Z! Para-DX!
With the powerup from Drago Knight Hunter Z, Emu succeeds in fighting off Gemn, but it doesn’t stay that way for long. The feeling from when he’d first used the Gashat returned, this overwhelming power that was nearly uncontrollable. No, it was uncontrollable, like this at least.
Crashing into a nearby building, which very much hurt, Emu could only watch as Gemn and Salty retreated. Damn.
---
Once back at the CR, Emu can’t help but feel he’s at a bit of an impasse. Mostly because Shuhei was still upset. Obviously, he hadn’t been happy about Christmas or being home in time for it, but he also didn’t seem too much more upset about being at the hospital longer either. Not happy or sad about it, not even resigned. Just a blanket of being upset about something.
There’s a memory though, of being a child waking up in a hospital. Alone. He… hadn’t stayed that way though, not exactly. He’d been sad, disappointed. Yet what had happened? Doctor Kyotaro came back, with a game for him. All because Emu was sad and had mentioned that he liked games. All because Doctor Kyotaro wanted to see him smile.
Emu found his answer there. He wanted to cheer Shuhei up, so he should do like what Doctor Kyotaro did. Find something to give Shuhei that might cheer him up. A gift that would make him smile. But just what would do that…?
Luckily, Shuhei’s mother, Mrs. Yamanaka, had come to the CR to visit him. That meant all he’d have to do is ask her. After all, shouldn’t she know what her own son enjoyed? (There’s a part of him that points out that it wasn’t a necessity for a parent to know anything about their child. But she’d come to see him, even when busy with work, so obviously she cared. Obviously, she’d at least have an idea, right?)
When asked, Mrs. Yamanaka provides an answer that certainly makes sense, “Cake,” she had said, even describing how Shuhei best liked it. Well that was easy enough, in theory at least.
Before Emu could go get cake for Shuhei, though, he found himself heading for Masamune’s office at Gemn Corp. It sounded like the man wanted to speak with all the Riders, since he thought he’d saw Nico rush in ahead of him and Saki was trailing right beside him.
Entering the office, both he and Saki are immediately greeted with the sound of Nico loudly saying, “Come on, Kiriya!” They can see her tugging Kiriya away from where he was standing in front of Masamune’s desk, “You don’t just go declaring your plans like that!”
It was an odd sight and definitely a bit concerning but… Well Emu figured it wasn’t that concerning, since it sounded like Kiriya and Nico were in cahoots on something. Whenever Emu asked, Kiriya never really gave a straight answer. Sometimes, he never gave an answer at all.
Masamune noticed he and Saki entering, sparing one last glance at Kiriya and Nico before beginning to speak, “Good, you’re all here,” Saki was right about one thing, the last time she saw Masamune. If he was at all effected by the apparent death of his assistant, he didn’t show it. “I have a task for all of you,”
“And what’s that?” Nico asks, sounding just the slightest bit suspicious.
“To retrieve the last game, Shakariki Sports, from that black Para-DX,” He answered. “I believe that that black Para-DX is working to spread Game Disease, but without access to Level 3, you should be able to overpower him easily.”
Saki takes a step forward, “He does still have the Proto Drago Knight Hunter Z Gashat,” She reminded, “Is it possible that he may be able to use that in some capacity?”
Shaking his head, Masamune frowns, “No, the Prototype Gashat should be incapable of acting as a level raising Gashat like it’s finished counterpart. Without a Bugster, that Gashat should be able to do little.”
---
After their meeting with Masamune, Kiriya using the fact he’s already at Gemn Corp as an excuse to do a little digging. Mostly, he wants to learn more about Masamune’s former assistant, the nervous “Mu”. During the incident with Dr. Pac-Man – really a man named Zaizen – the man had been held hostage by Zaizen and forced to use both the Proto and complete Mighty Action X Gashats in a Gamer Driver. There was no evidence that Mu had ever had the compatibility surgery – it would be odd if he had regardless – so that should have killed him almost instantly.
But that wasn’t what had happened. Not according to both Ghost and Emu. Apparently, using both of the Gashats caused a pair of Riders to appear, one cyan, one orange. They were the ones to defeat Zaizen, combining once more afterwards and leaving a dazed and glitching Mu. Not long after they got him back to the CR, Mu was gone, presumably dead.
Of course, Kiriya wasn’t convinced it was quite so straight forward, either. He’d asked Nico if she could look into Mu, but without an actual name to go off of, let alone a last name, there wasn’t much they could find. Officially, Masamune didn’t have an assistant.
As he talked to various people working at Gemn, though, he found that they all thought differently. Pretty much everyone there had at least met Mu, though none of them knew his name past that point. Apparently, Mu was pretty friendly with them, though always nervous and reserved. He’d showed up a couple months ago and was also really interested in hearing what people were working on.
While he was speaking with one worker, the man said something odd, “Yeah, helped me find my wallet a few minutes ago,”
“What?” Kiriya blinked, trying not to show his surprise too much, though he’s sure it was still obvious. “What do you mean, ‘a few minutes ago’?”
“I mean you just missed him,” The man said, “He’s been gone the past few days, said he hadn’t been feeling well. You could probably catch up with him if you’re willing to speed walk. He went that way.” Kiriya wasted no time in running in the direction the man had pointed.
It would mean something very different if Mu was still alive. Quickly, he sees the Mighty hoodie that Mu always seemed to be wearing. He slows down, not wanting to scare him, given Kiriya recalled that Mu always seemed to be nervous. It looked like he was looking at something, but from behind Kiriya couldn’t tell what. It was probably a phone.
Kiriya follows behind Mu for a bit, until they reach an area where the path splits, going left or right, with a wall meeting you if you try to keep going forward. Right as Mu was about to turn, Kiriya throws a hand against the wall, in the same method he used the day he first met Emu.
Mu squeaks in surprise and turns to face Kiriya. His eye widens in surprise when he realizes who he’s facing. He shoves one hand in his pocket while the other adjusts his Gemn Corp name tag. Though he quickly shoves it under a part of his coat, Kiriya can still catch the name on it. Emu Dan. How curious.
“Hey there, Mu,” Kiriya smiles, trying to seem casual, “What happened to you the other day? We all thought you’d died.”
“Uh, what?” Mu asks nervously. He sounds like he’s trying to feign ignorance, but Kiriya can see through it. It’s hard to lie to the liar. “I, uh, I don’t… I don’t really know what you’re… talking about.” He finishes his thought quietly, clearly wanting to be somewhere else.
Still, he can’t fool Kiriya, “You were infected, Zaizen used two Gashats on you, one of them was one of the Prototypes. We all saw you glitching.” He’ll tell the man what can’t be denied, “But you seem fine now. Odd, don’t you think?”
“Well… um, uh… you see…” Fumbling, Mu pulled his hand out of his pocket, prompting whatever he’d shoved in there to lean out a little. It was dark grey and Kiriya could see just enough to figure out what it was. “I got… better?”
Kiriya wasn’t buying it, but instead of furthering that line of questioning, he wanted to confirm what he was seeing. He plucks the item out of Mu’s pocket, startling him again, “Now what’s this?”
“Hey!” Despite Mu’s protests, Kiriya pushes off the wall and examines the Gashat he’d gotten. Proto Drago Knight Hunter Z. That meant that this man, Mu, was definitely the one working with Kuroto, at least occasionally acting as Gemn. “That’s not yours!” With a startling amount of strength for someone with his appearance, Mu snatches the Gashat out of Kiriya’s hands.
Still, Kiriya found himself some proof, something that would be hard to lie out of, even if Mu was a good liar. “Now what are you doing with that Gashat?”
“I’m… Returning it. To Masamune.”
“How’d you get it?” Kiriya casually put his hands in his pant’s pockets, “Last we saw, that black Para-DX had it. So unless you’re the black Para-DX…”
At the implication, Mu visibly flinches. Kiriya grins, “Oh, so you are?”
Mu looks down, screwing his eyes shut, “Stop it,” He says, “Stop it, stop it!” He shakes a bit. Then the glitching starts. His face, his hands, and his feet. Kiriya takes a step back, not expecting something like this.
What he expected even less was the Bugster grunts that began to appear, the glitching spreading to the floor and the Bugsters coming from there. Mu looks up, wide-eyed and gasps. He holds the Gashat tightly, then turns heel and runs off, down one of the halls. Kiriya would’ve chase after him, but he’s got Bugsters to deal with.
---
It wasn’t exactly easy getting cake for Shuhei, as it turned out a lot of people wanted it. But Emu had managed and was now ready to present his gift to the boy. This would surely cheer him up and make him smile.
But when he’d arrived at the patient room and showed Shuhei his gift… “I hate cake,” The boy said it in the same way he’d declared his disdain for Christmas. What Emu doesn’t understand is why Mrs. Yamanaka had been wrong about what would cheer Shuhei up. Not that it mattered, since that hadn’t worked.
He’d just… Have to figure something else out. He may not be as good at this as Doctor Kyotaro is, but that just meant he needed more practice. There had to be something that would make Shuhei smile! He just needed to find it.
He rushes out of the CR.
---
Poppy doesn’t bat an eye when the phone in the CR rings. She’s worried that it could be another infection, but it could also just be Saki and Emu. Emu went out a while ago to try to figure out what might cheer Shuhei up, so it’s just her in the CR.
When she answers the phone, she can’t help but think that the voice sounds familiar, “Is… is this the CR?” It sounded like Masamune’s assistant, Mu… But Mu was dead.
“Mu?” She couldn’t help but wonder. They hadn’t heard him talk much, and it was almost always quiet… but it definitely sounded like him.
There’s a startled sound on the other end, then the voice says, “You need to get your patient and bring him here. I… found something out… about… well you need to come and see…” The voice certainly sounded hesitant and nervous, “Please… It’ll make sense… when you get here. Besides… there’s a Rider here…”
So Poppy took Shuhei and went to meet the person who sounded like Mu. Technically, she had no way of knowing who it was, nor if anything he’d said was true but… For some reason she felt compelled to. So she went to meet with him, at weirdly enough, a skatepark.
Except, when the two arrived, the person waiting for them was the black Para-DX. Already in Level 3, Poppy wonders how fast she can get Shuhei out of here when Emu arrives.
“I am searching for the data of death,” The black Para-DX says and… he sounds different. He holds himself different, too. More confident.
He runs up and wastes no time in using Drago Knight Hunter Z to transform to Level 5. Unlike before, he’s able to focus enough not to immediately lose control… But he can feel it slipping. Like the desire to lose control was just leaking into every part of him.
“Come on, Ace!” Kiriya practically slides on scene, “Don’t hog all the fun!”
“Yeah, M!” Nico follows, with Saki not far behind her, “This is a boss fight! At least let us do something.”
“I believe our help would be beneficial,” Saki provides.
Drago Knight Hunter Z does like what it did when they fought Graphite, splitting into four, the armor dividing among the four Riders. The four fight the black Para-DX, quickly overpowering him, causing the Shakariki Sports Gashat to go flying. Emu catches it, grinning beneath his mask. The black Para-DX staggers, then inserts a white Gashat into his Bugvisor. He aims towards Poppy and Shuhei.
Using the tail of his armor, Emu swats him away, putting the Shakariki Sports Gashat into his axe.
Shakariki Critical Strike!
He slashes at the black Para-DX, causing him to stumble back.
Game Clear!
The black Para-DX jabs the Bugvisor into his health bar, pulling some kind of pixel data from himself. Now that he’s collected whatever he’d been trying to, the black Para-DX turns to face the four Riders, “I am Kamen Rider Gemn,” He says, then his transformation disappears, revealing none other than…
“Kuroto Dan,” Saki says, her tone firm. She spares a glance at Kiriya, “I suppose you were right.”
“But why?” Emu can’t help but wonder, “This all seems really… pointless.”
Kuroto has a self-satisfied smirk on his face when he explains, “You’re all just test subjects in the creation of the ultimate game,” He gestures widely, spreading his arms, “I’ve just been collecting data.”
Firing an energy beam from the Bugvisor, Kuroto leaves, the Riders unable to follow.
There’s something on Kiriya’s face that isn’t quite right.
---
Mu’s just awoken from having passed out after everything earlier, when Kuroto returns. Kuroto staggers in, prompting Mu to heave himself up and check on him. Kuroto shrugs him off, instead holding his new Gashat proudly.
“It’s done, Mu,” He said, then hands Mu the Gamer Driver and Proto Mighty Action X Gashat. “Now I can fight without these.”
Blinking, Mu comments, “We can fight together now,”
Hesitantly, Kuroto admits, “Ah, yes. We can.” He’s clearly not thrilled at the idea.
“Oh, big bro?” Mu ventures, “Um, I think Lazer knows that I’m a Rider. He cornered me at Gemn Corp and saw Graphite’s Gashat and then I started panicking and-then-Bugsters-began-to-appear-and-I-ran-away-“
Placing a hand on Mu’s shoulder, Kuroto smiled, “It’s alright, Mu, it’s alright. Just calm down. I’ll handle it.”
“You will?”
“Lazer’s already learning too much about what we’re doing,” Kuroto sighs, “We’ll have to… find a way to take care of him. Then it’ll be fine.”
Taking a deep breath, Mu replies, “Okay,” Then puts the Driver and Gashat into his pocket. In his pocket, his hand wraps around the Proto Drago Knight Hunter Z Gashat. “I’m… I’m going to go on a walk now. I just woke up and…”
“Be careful,” Kuroto lays down on his cot, “I’ll probably be asleep when you get back.”
“Good night,”
Once Emu was a good distance from where they were staying, he found himself up on a roof. It didn’t matter too much where he did this… But he wanted to make sure it didn’t draw any attention. He didn’t want Kuroto to know he’d (probably) figured out how to do this. Not yet.
He pulls the Proto Drago Knight Hunter Z Gashat out of his pocket. He activates it and then sort of… Digs around a bit, he supposes, until he finds that familiar feeling. Then he tugs on it. Then tugs again. He keeps tugging until…
In a swarm of pixels and glitches, Graphite emerges from the Gashat.
Graphite looks around, taking a moment to take in his surroundings. “Kin,” He says, “How…?”
Excitedly, Mu leaps at Graphite with tears in his eyes and hugs him, “You’re a high enough level Bugster,” He giggles, despite the tears, “That I could just bring you back. No one even had to be infected!”
Wrapping his arms around Mu in return, Graphite examines Mu, taking in his appearance, which was worse than usual even by Mu’s standards. “You seem a bit… off.”
“It’s… a long story, but I’m better now, so it’s fine.”
Eventually, they sat down on the roof, with Mu leaning against Graphite’s side. After a while, Graphite tells Mu, “Kin, don’t tell Kuroto you’ve brought me back.”
“Huh?” Mu blinked, pulling away slightly to look at Graphite, “Why not?”
“There … are a few things I’d like to do first.”
“Well, if you say so.” Leaning back against Graphite, Mu mutters, “I missed you."

How much have you thought of the ex aid timeline?
Probably a bit too much. Here’s what I’ve worked out so far. Keep in mind that I’m not including anything from Mighty Novel X, any drama cds that may exist, or the two stage shows - I don’t have access to them, so I can’t source them.
2000: Kuroto (age 14) discovers the Bugster Virus, and soon proceeds to infect Emu (age 8). Later in the year, the car accident happens. (shhhh i know what the novel says i don’t care it was an accident shhhhhh)
Late 2010: Genius Gamer M collapses from exhaustion and a long term case of the game illness. Happy Birthday, Parad. If this was OOO you’d be getting a cake.
2011: Taiga becomes Snipe, and after what appears to be several months The Thing With Saki happens. I’m still unsure if this is Zero Day - They mentioned the term a few times in show but never specified what it actually was, IIRC.
August 2015, in the world of Build: Parad finds himself on the other side of a wormhole.
early 2016: Ghost and the 100 eyecons movie. I have no idea what goes down, but apparently there’s an ExAid cameo. I need to watch it, but I’m pretty sure that the cameo can be ignored?
April 17, 2016: Over at a previous season, some stuff goes down, Takeru comes back to life, etc.etc. Kuroto (As Genm) goes and practices his Shakariki Sports stunts on some Ganma mooks. (Kuroto has An Aesthetic and it is Zombies and these jerks are ruining it for him.)
Some unspecified time in between, when Takeru is celebrating his birthday: Takeru meets his future son! (aka Surprise Future 3: the surprising. Takeru hates time travel almost to the same level as Shinnosuke now, and is probably worried that he’s going to be a terrible father.) This is the next appearance of both Genm and Ex-Aid - but I DON”T KNOW WHERE IT FITS. I don’t want it to be on Takeru’s original birthday, but if it’s shortly after his revival, then it is physically impossible for Ex-Aid to appear. I just don’t know.
October 2016: Game Start. Emu becomes Ex-Aid.
Early December, 2016: Ex-Aid & Ghost. Technically, outside of Zaizen, his cronies, and Parad, Takeru manages to be the fourth person overall to find out about Emu being Patient Zero. Numbers one and two are Kuroto and Masamune, presumably in that order, and number three is Kiriya. Emu doesn’t remember a thing about the last part of that battle.
Christmas 2016: Episode 12. That is really all there is to say on the matter.
February 2017: Beast Rider Squad
March 2017: Okay, Parad, this is the definition of ‘cool motive, still murder.’ (AKA Kuroto dies.) Later in the month, ‘Chou Super Hero Taisen’ and the Gorider special occur.
April 2017: Kamen Rider Chronicle Begins
May 2017: oh. hey there kuroto. “welcome back” (also the proper introduction of Masamune / Cronus)
June 2017: Oh! Hey there Kiriya! Welcome back!
Early to Mid August 2017: Kamen Rider Chronicle Ends. (and so does the Season.) That Other Build appears, presumably from his 2015, and takes off one of Kuroto’s remaining lives.
I figure about a week passes between Masamune’s defeat and The Press Conference, maybe two weeks. No more than that. Enough time to get things done, like Taiga’s clinic being made official, Nico to graduate, Hiiro to get some new students, etc.
Late August to early September 2017: True Ending, wherein a terrible father is actually able to try and redeem himself for once in this franchise.
Here’s where it gets tricky.
In the True Ending post-credits scene, That Other Build appears, again presumably from his 2015, takes Ex-Aid’s power, and accidentally takes Parad along for the trip back through the wormhole. Parad is stuck in Build!2015 until Build!2017, aka Heisei Gen Final, at which point he and Sento hitch a ride with Kouta (the overpowered little–) back to the Main Timeline.
Build & Ex-Aid (Heisei Generations Final) is, with regards to the Main Timeline, canonically “one year after True Ending”, which would put it somewhere in the second half of 2018.
I. Don’t like putting this film a full year after the season. It doesn’t fit with any of the other Movie Wars - most are at most set six months post-series.
(Well - most of the other Movie Wars.)
(We are studiously ignoring OOO & W for the purpose of comparison, because W’s final episode is set one year after the rest of the series, and the movie really requires that to have happened. To say nothing of the OOO section… *shudder*)
(And the Ex-Aid & Ghost film has no choice but to be in December, because of Certain Events In Late December, so it’s by necessity 8 months after the conclusion of… most of Ghost’s storyline.)
But putting Heisei Gen Final in 2018 makes several things awkward.
First: one year? really? Again, an unusual time gap. I just don’t like it.
Second: It screws with Sento and Ryuuga, who I maintain landed in the Main Timeline. I know I rag on Zi-O, and there are all sorts of problems and unreliable narration going on in there, but this has nothing to do with that. This is largely consolidation of characters. I assume that time stayed ‘synced’ when Enigma was shut down, so they landed in Mid to Late July 2018. (season finale time dilation in action, folks!)
IF Heisei Gen Final is in 2018, as canon claims, then there would be two Sentos and two Ryuugas running around at the time. Three people with the same faces, technically, because of Sato Taro and the black-haired Ryuuga.
That’s just mean and there’s too many paradoxes going around in Rider right now.
Also, Final being in 2018 will probably wreak havoc with the currently upcoming Heisei Generations Forever.
All of that to say that I personally put Final in December 2017, just to keep things nice and consistent.
The Another Ending trilogy in August 2019, two years after the series finale. (As is the Para-DX HBV.) That’s unavoidable. Two years post-finale is a good time span.
I can’t tell what the time span of the four is, though. They follow pretty much immediately on each other’s heels, but I think it’s… maybe a week, week and a half total?
A very, very long and tiring week and a half.
I have no earthly idea how far off Kiriya’s revival is, and that bugs me.
(… heh. bugs. like bugsters. i’m so sick of these puns you guys.)
Doing math like a normal human tells us that Another Ending is 2019 - they SAY two years after True Ending, but Rider Wiki insists it’s in 2020 - two years after the ‘technically canonical but really really dumb’ date of 2018… for Heisei Final. Normal Human math means that Mighty Novel X, canonically ‘three years after Another Ending’, is thus 2022, as oppose to where Rider Wiki lists it - 2023.
That’s as far out as I can go, so yeah. Little too much thought. I’m desperately trying to figure out the Heart and Mach specials for Drive - I know they’re here in 2018, but I’m not sure WHEN in 2018. (Mach Saga is going in November for the (re)United verse, no two ways about that, but I dunno about canonically.)
So that’s what I’ve been using for the Ex-Aid Timeline. Why do you ask?

Look, the way Shimizu Yuki and Shinshokan dedicate themselves to Youmei x Hizuru makes me feel like ZE all over again with tons of PWP Genma x Himi extras in which my favourite-and-deserve-to-shine Moriya x Ryuusei acting like morons in the background.
Please, for the sake of a better world, don’t waste Kiriya x Zaizen.

Ex-Aid 21-22 thoughts (Spoilers)
Well now that I caught up with Kyuranger, now it’s time to catch up on the Gaming Gremlin. Last Time: Emu and Asuna help a patient try to face his fear of rides, then Taiga takes Hiro’s Gashat to gain a new power-up to defeat the Bugster. With all that said, what’s gonna happen next? let’s find out.
Kamen Rider Ex-Aid episode 21:
At a prison, Dan Masamune is talking to Heiji until hr gets a virus. Poppy reveals that Kuroto was the one that chose him to use the Gamer Driver, they get an alert and find Heiji turning to the great Kaiden.
Genm arrives to fight Snipe and regain the Gashat, but is beaten and leaves. Later, Heiji says that he lost his son to the disease on Zero Day and is looking for Kuroto and Kiriya.
Emu and Asuna visit Masamune in prison and asks what did he tell him. Taiga pays Tsukuru to make a new Gashat. Masamune reveals that his son discovered the virus 16 years ago and framed him for Zero Day..
Heiji goes berserk and Hiro battles Kaiden, while Ex-Aid battles Genm and Snipe battles Para-DX, after being beaten, Pallad tells Taiga to keep an eye on Genm, Kaiden and Genm get beaten.
Kuroto reveals his Chronicle game to the others and has achieved Genm Zombie’s full potential Level X, Ex-Aid fights him, but he vanishes. Keiji is glad to be cured and will help them find Kuroto’s hiding place.
Next Time: Implanted history
Overall I found this episode to be okay, it was interesting that we got more info about how Kuroto discovered the Bugster virus after the Y2K situation passed. and how he learned to use it for his own schemes and framed his father for the events of Zero Day, it really shows how demented and insane this character has gotten. I also liked Heiji’s backstory and motivation for wanting revenge for his son’s death to the virus, as well as how Hiro had to tell him that wanting to know what happened won’t bring them back since he understood his loss. It was interesting to see Taiga try to have Tsukuru make Gashat’s for them since this was something the fans kind of expected him to do, since the debut of Juju Burger, Tsukuru can make Gashats to help the other Riders in defeating Genm and I’m glad they remembered that. The battle between Ex-Aid/Genm and Snipe/Kaiden was awesome, though Snipe and Pallads battle was a bit tacked on despite how awesome it was, you could write that off the episode and not much would’ve changed. I also liked how Kuroto finally reveals his plans to the others while reaching his Gashat’s full potential, I really enjoy him as a villain, cause even when they save the day/save the patient, he still manages to win in the end and that’s what makes him a great villain. Can’t wait for the next episode, where they find Dan dying from his infection, he’s in the CR room, Asuna calls him out for what he’s done, Ex-Aid battles Genm and his Driver gets destroyed.
Kamen Rider Ex-Aid episode 22:
Hiro gets Kiriya’s old belonging and finds a computer file. Dan is caught by the police until he gets infected Ex-Aid battles Charlie while Snipe and Brave battle Para-DX, then Charlie turns back to Kuroto,
so they send him to the CR room to question him and he tells Emu that he’s the cause of all this. He explains that sixteen years ago, he received a letter from Emu about the games he wanted to see get made.
He was angry, so he sent him a game with the Virus, then years after, he got Zaizen to operate on him and produce more Bugsters, Charlie returns and Emu transforms to battle it.
Bugsters attack the Genm Corporation and Brave battles them, then Snipe uses the new Gashat, but it doesn’t work. Charlie is defeated, but Kuroto gets it’s data, which is what he wanted.
He reveals he got himself infected on purpose to buy some time. he defeats Ex-Aid, corrupting his Driver so he can’t transform. Kuroto returns to his old office, ready to complete his game. To be continued...
Next Time: The debut of Mighty Maximum X
Overall I enjoyed this episode, it was really surprising to see that our protagonist and antagonist have a bigger connection then they’ve let on, it was so dumb that it was actually hilarious in a good way. It really shows how crazy Kuroto’s gotten from his own pettiness, like the kind that gets mad when a child’s fan character gets acknowledged rather than someone who’s been drawing for years, he’d be that kind of guy. I also liked how clever he was, getting himself infected as a diversion for his Bugsters to invade the Genm office and reclaim it, this is why I love this villain, he always finds a way to get himself on top, compared to the previous show’s villain Adel, who did similar things, but mostly came off as pretentious and forgettable, while Dan Kuroto is hammy and threatening. I also liked how they tried to make a new Gashat, only for it to not work, but I have a feeling that it might get some use soon. I also enjoyed the reveal that they used Emu’s disease to produce more Bugsters, it really shows how everything is connected in some way. Not much else to say, but this series really getting better and better, so I’m excited for what they might bring next. Can’t wait for the next episode, where Emu, Taiga and Hiro are arguing, Pallad tells Emu to eliminate Genm and Ex-Aid levels up to become Mighty Maximum X.
