Hiii, this is the artist who drew Zaeo for Art Fight and I hope I'm not overstepping but I need to hear the gargoyle story so bad after reading your tags 👀

It's not a big long story, and it's been a while so I've forgotten some details: but our party had an off/research day and Zaeo ended up settling on top of a church to eat his lunch. Maybe to scout for something religious to do with the dragon we were hoping to rob.

And there was a living gargoyle on the roof. Watching him. So naturally this big, scary half-orcling bloodhunter shares his hot chocolate with it!

A little down the line the rest of the party meet it, including my aberrant mind sorcerer Rhea (she's Zaeo's sister-in-law. They're adventuring together as bonding <3 also to get money so Ma'ari can just stay home and vibe <3). Via a little mind reading, we found out that:

a) this was a grandma gargoyle. Old lady. Very fond of this strapping young lad who was kind to her

b) she was actually pretty fond of the dragon we were going to rob. Which was Dicey

c) she did Not Like Rhea Snooping, even if it was our best way to understand her due to how Detect Thoughts works :c so Zaeo ended up wanting to learn gargoyle language (or Draconic?) to communicate with her.

A few adventures, a heist and a curse later we had left the area and fought (obliterated really, this DM was not good at balancing combat encounters lol) a few wolves, with the last one escaping with its tail between its legs.

Not for long, though, because GrandmaGoyle showed up with its head and spine, Predator-style, to offer it to Zaeo.

And the big guy practically coo'd while Rhea tried not to vomit on her boots :D

An experimental portrait! Today’s victim is Syn’s boy, Zaeo. I’m not 100% happy with the execution on this one, but that’s what practice is for. These are fun though, and very zen mode to do. (with a bit of frustration sprinkled in here and there)
