Ch.10: Draining the Hot Spring

Kita gently pushed back the drapes, observing the street from his fourth-floor office in the consulate. The opposing office building was dead black in the middle of the night. There was no traffic. This was good.

Yuutarou Kindaichi yawned and blinked with exhaustion when Shinsuke Kita returned to his chair at the desk.

“It was foolish to use the CPU to capture Yahaba,” Yuutarou’s host bluntly stated. Kindaichi jolted to attention and gulped. “It made Seijoh finding out inevitable.” Shinsuke casually sipped imported tea from his homeland. Kindaichi grimaced and drank his own cup of the same caffeinated beverage.

The desk phone jingled quietly. Yuutarou watched dully as Kita taciturnly took in the news from his caller.

“Seijoh has lifted the cordon,” he announced. The government was extraordinarily tightlipped about the reason for the ID inspections and vehicle searches at the city’s exits, trapping thousands of civilians in Kitagawa’s metropolitan area with grueling traffic jams. The chancellery’s press office would only attribute the move to a credible terror threat. Kita easily saw through the BS: they were searching for Yahaba.

He could only conjecture why Seijoh suddenly backed off. Doubtful had the country given up on finding its target though, which still made it precarious to attempt smuggle Yahaba out tonight. The hope was to have Yahaba as a cyberwarfare asset for years to come, but the risk of him falling into enemy hands wasn’t necessarily worth the benefits.

Even with Seijoh on edge though, they couldn’t keep Yahaba here forever. A prolonged and public siege of the consulate demanding Yahaba or Kindaichi’s surrender would be catastrophic. All of the Seijohans on the premises—Shigeru Yahaba, Yuutarou Kindaichi, and Kentarou Kyoutani—had to be removed ASAP.

There was only one option. They had to make the attempt tonight.

New Haikyuu Series!!

TL;DR: This is an introduction for my newest series: Haikyuu Oneshots!! This series with have a one-shot for almost EVERY character on the volleyball teams! (Excluding a few).

This is, like the summary says, the introduction to my latest idea. There will be about 75 fics (I may include more characters at popular request). This idea was born out of two facts:  1.) It is damn near impossible actually hate any Haikyuu character 2.) In spite of the aforementioned fact, there is a disturbing lack of fics for random side characters My solution? Write a fic for them, of course!

That's a lot! Let's lay down some information: 1. Each character will get their own story, including ones that are usually grouped together (i.e. the Miyans or Ukai and Takeda). 2. There will be at least one chapter per story, with at least 3,500 words each. The chapters will not be a continuous story.  3. This all happens in the same universe, so there won't be different ships (Hinata will only be with Kageyama, for example) 4. There will be no rape, major character death, or suicide 5. My heart can't handle anything but happy endings, so there's that 6. The only post timeskip fics will probably be Atsumu and Sakusa 7. Have an idea or headcanon you'd love to see? TELL ME!! I don't have a lot of ideas for most of these characters! 8. These stories are just {character}-centric fics. That doesn't mean that they will all be the same layout. Some may be 5+1, others may a singular story. 9. I basically said this earlier, but these all exist in the 'canon' verse- so no college or soulmate au 10. THERE WILL BE NO READER INSERT/SECOND PERSPECTIVE/FIRST PERSPECTIVE. It makes me extremely uncomfortable. 11. I have never seen a schedule I haven't wanted to burn on sight. This means that my updates will be sporadic. BUT, you know whose story is coming next, so... 12. These fics are also a way for me to practice writing. That means that some may be in weird styles. (i.e. very flowery, no dialogue, etc) If that happens, you can be completely assured that there will also be a 'normal' fic as well, to accommodate the people who dislike those styles. *This does not apply with 5+1  13. I most likely will not get through the entire list before adding chapters to certain fics. Sorry, but my favorite characters will get more attention. Good news, my favs literally change every day! What's Yuuto and Fio's relationship like?

It’s very sweet, honestly! Maybe a tad awkward at first, since Yuuto’s never really been good with kids, and he’s pretty nervous the first time he’s asked to babysit Fio. Because he knows how protective Toni is of her, and Ayano too, and “oh Maria, if I upset this kid my life is over, isn’t it?”— Meanwhile, Fio’s just excited to make a new friend! Toni talks about Mister Yuuto all the time, so she figures he must be amazing! If Toni likes him, Fio does too! (As if Fio doesn’t initially like everyone she meets anyway.)

There’s probably a point where Yuuto thinks he’s lost Fio and absolutely freaks out, but he very quickly finds her wandering around in his lab. Fio doesn’t really understand all of the robot stuff, but she thinks it’s super cool, and she wants to learn! Yuuto’s a little surprised, since he’s not super used to many people being that genuinely interested in his work. His nervousness subsides from there, and he starts teaching Fio about everything he’s working on, even explaining how to do some of it in the simplest terms he can. Fio loves hanging around Yuuto, and she does her best to understand his work. It makes her feel very smart when she’s with him! Sometimes she’ll draw robot designs, and Yuuto will make them for her.

Of course, Antonio absolutely adores it when Fio tells him all about the time she spends with Yuuto. Though he does get a little thrown off guard one day by Fio randomly declaring that she wants to be the flower girl at their wedding.

"I want to make everyone in the world excited with the interesting things I've found."

Profile: An explorer who's pursuing his dreams. Thanks to his strong luck, he was able to accomplished many great adventures. At the same time, Crow also often acts recklessly, which ended up with the Guild Federation becoming wary of him due to his habit of destroying historic ruins.

Q1. Please tell us, what is it that you're trying to master now?

I need to hone my exploration skills, of course. I'll go from one end of the world to the other, and I'll take on even the most toughest places to explore. It'll be hard to do all that alone, but I've got everyone from "Tsuki Watari" with me. If we're together, we can go anywhere!

Q2. What dreams do you want to achieve in this world by using the power that you have mastered?

A dream I want to achieve, huh...Hmm...Something like "I want to make everyone in the world excited with the interesting things I've found," maybe! I guess you could call it a step towards the whole "exploring the world" goal I mentioned earlier. But of course, every single exploration I've done always feel like a momentary dream to me.

Q3. Is there any other jobs that you would like to try besides your current one?

There are often things that would make me thing "that looks fun to do" or "I wanna do that too," but being an explorer fits me the best, after all. There are times when people would ask me if I want to write a book about the adventures I've done, but y'see...I'm not exactly what you would call a good writer. But all the things I've seen, and all the things I've felt, I really do want to convey them all properly to everyone.

Q4. What type of woman would you like to have around as you pursue your dreams?

It doesn’t really matter to me whether it's a guy or a girl, but I like people who truly have a grasp on their dreams and work hard to achieve them. Just by looking at those kinds of people, I'd feel all energized and motivated. Of course, I also hope to be someone like that for them too.

Profile: An ex-delinquent who now works as a medical sorcerer. At a glance, both his appearance and way of speaking may be rough, but beneath that, his passionate and honest personalities have earned him the trust of his patients. However, his temper hasn't changed at all since his delinquent days, and he and Sion would constantly fight with each other.

Q1. Please tell us, what is it that you're trying to master now?

It's the art and knowledge of "Magical Medicine." There's just seriously a bunch of things I gotta learn and remember about. Besides, rather than having an end goal, it's more like something that’s endless, there's just no end to it since it's constantly evolving. Just by having one life probably won't be enough to "master" this. But, that's what I'm aiming for and I'll stick to it 'till the end. Because the more I learn and the more I improve, the more people I'll be able to save.

Q2. What dreams do you want to achieve in this world by using the power that you have mastered?

I wanna get rid of "incurable disease." People around me always say that I'm still too naive and just a brat, or that I'm dreaming too much, but in reality, there are diseases that couldn't be cured in the past but can now be cured, right? Of course, there're still a lot of other diseases that are hard to get rid of completely, but...I've decided that I'm going to do as much as I can for the rest of my life.

Q3. Is there any other jobs that you would like to try besides your current one?

A doctor who deals with mental health problems. My current job is to deal with people's physical conditions, but there're many cases where the mind is the cause of the physical problems. I don't think I can take care of patients with those problems right now, but...I hope one day I'll be able to help them too myself. But for now, I gotta concentrate on what I gotta do, because reaching out on too many things at once and doing things halfway just won't do any good.

Q4. What type of woman would you like to have around as you pursue your dreams?

As you can see, I'm this kind of guy. Maybe someone who dreams a lot would be nice? Someone who has a big dream, is straightforward and works hard....I think that way we could become inspiration for each other. Or maybe someone who could stop my habit of going or doing things in a hurry....Either that or the other, I guess.

Profile: The oldest of 3 brothers. A genius chocolatier who has won many awards in competitions with his overwhelming sense of taste. He has quite the confidence and is also a womanizer who can’t seem to maintain a committed relationship with anyone. But despite that, he'd become extremely stoic when it comes to making chocolate.

Well, it's obviously making chocolates. What else is there?

I think I've already achieved it, but...I'm going to make everyone who eats my chocolate say that it's the “best chocolate” they've ever had. Aah, but, sometimes Oscar still won't react much to my chocolates, so one of these days I'll definitely hit the bull's-eye and make him say "it's delicious!" with a wide smile on his face.

Q3. Is there any other jobs that you would like to try besides your current one?

There is none. I'll keep making chocolates as long as I live.

Q4. What type of woman would you like to have around as you pursue your dreams?

Someone who can be distant enough to not interfere with each other's work. Someone who won't disturb me when I'm working. As long as they can keep it that way, I'll be fine with them. Ah, but...If I ever start fooling around, my little brothers definitely won’t stop bothering me about it.

That, my friend, is to live on unearned income. Sounds great, right? Spending the whole day by laying around and basking in the sun, living free to do as I please. On the other hand, it's a pain in the ass to learn all the stuff just to get the money for it....Sigh, it's a tough world out there.

Q3. Is there any other jobs that you would like to try besides your current one?

You've probably already figured it out by now, but nope. Not really. Sorry, but if it's anything that requires working, then it's a no for me. I wonder if there's anyone out there who's willing to take care of me, like, seriously.

Q4. What type of woman would you like to have around as you pursue your dreams?

Well, my dream is "to not work," so...I'd feel sorry to the person who would ended up following me around.....On the other hand, maybe it's better if it's with someone who actually do work hard nonstop. Then I’d persuade them by explaining how great it is if I don't work. That way I can go and rest my shoulders.

WOW! That's a lot! Let's lay down some information:

1. Each character will get their own story, including ones that are usually grouped together (i.e. the Miyans or Ukai and Takeda).

2. There will be at least one chapter per story, with at least 3,500 words each. The chapters will no be a continous story.

3. This all happens in the same universe, so there won't be different ships (Hinata will only be with Kageyama, for example)

4. There will be no rape, major character death, or suicide

5. My heart can't handle anything but happy endings, so there's that

6. The only post timeskip fics will probably be Atsumu and Sakusa

7. Have an idea or headcanon you'd love to see? TELL ME!! I don't have a lot of ideas for most of these characters!

8. These stories are just {character}-centric fics. That doesn't mean that they will all be the same layout. Some may be 5+1, others may a singular story.

9. I basically said this earlier, but these all exist in the 'canon' verse- so no college or soulmate au

10. THERE WILL BE NO READER INSERT/SECOND PERSPECTIVE/FIRST PERSPECTIVE. It makes me extremely uncomfortable.

11. I have never seen a schedule I haven't wanted to burn on sight. This means that my updates will be sporadic. BUT, you know whose story is coming next, so...

12. These fics are also a way for me to practice writing. That means that some may be in weird styles. (i.e. very flowery, no dialogue, etc) If that happens, you can be completely assured that there will also be a 'normal' fic as well, to accommodate the people who dislike those styles. *This does not apply with 5+1

13. I most likely will not get through the entire list before adding chapters to certain fics. Sorry, but my favorite characters will get more attention. Good news, my favs literally change every day!
