Tumblr media
The first theatrical animation of the dark fantasy battle manga "Jujutsu Kaisen" (2018-) by Shimosa Akutami, "Jujutsu Kaisen the Movie 0" was released on December 24, 2021 (Fri.). Jujutsu Kaisen" is a very popular series that depicts the battles of sorcerers who exorcise spirits. The anime version of the series is also very popular overseas, as it was selected as the best work at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2021, following "Onimei no Blade" the previous year.

However, the last part of the story has an unexpected description. In this article, I'll explain how the last part of "Jujutsu Kaisen 0 the Movie" unfolds and the scene after the end roll, with spoilers.

Spoiler Warning
The following contains spoilers regarding the ending of the movie "Jujutsu Kaisen: The Movie 0".
Getou's "Night of the Hundred Demons" and Gojo's decision
Tumblr media
Getou Suguru夏油(げとう すぐる), who despises non-sorcerers as "monkeys," executes "Hyakki Yakou," in which he releases countless spells in Shinjuku, Tokyo and Kyoto. This general attack had been declared in advance to be carried out on December 24, 2017, so Gojo Satoru and the other spellcasters were on the defensive in their respective cities.
However, Getou's real goal is to get hold of Rika Praymoto, a special grade super-spellbound grudge spirit who has possessed Yuuta Okotsu. Getou leaves Ookotsu and Maki Zen'in behind and raids the empty Tokyo school by himself, seriously injuring Maki first.
On the other hand, Gojo hears from Ijichi the results of an additional investigation into Yuuta Okkotsu's background and sends Panda and Inumaki Toge to Okkotsu. As will be revealed later, it was at this time that Ijichi informed Gojo that Okkotsu's ancestor was Sugawara no Michizane, one of Japan's three greatest grudge-holding spirits and a very powerful sorcerer who was also Gojo's ancestor.
Legend has it that Michizane Sugawara was a real person in the early Heian period (794-1185) who was a brilliant scholar, but was relegated after being accused of treason against the Emperor, and later became a grudge-holder. In today's Japan, he is known as "Tenma Taisai Tenjin" and is regarded as a god of learning.
When Gojo realizes that Okkotsu Yuta himself, not Rika, possesses a powerful power, he sends Panda and Goumaki to the technical college on the assumption that they will be killed by Getou. He thought that if Getou harmed Panda and Goumaki, it would awaken Okkotsu's true power. At the same time, Gojo knew that Getou would not kill Panda and Goumaki. This point is based on the contents of the past chapter of Gojo and Getou, which will be described later.
Yuuta and Rika's "pure love".
Tumblr media
Yuta Okkotsu, who confronts the special class curse maker Jie Getou, challenges him to a battle together with Rika. Getou dislikes the idea of "strong" spellcasters fighting for "weak" non-spellcasters, and is trying to create a world of only spellcasters, which he tells Okkotsu about. While Okkotsu has made friends at the College of Witchcraft and Wizardry and gained the power of self-affirmation, Getou produces the "Uzumaki," which combines 4,461 of his special class virtual grudge spirits into one, and tries to hit Okkotsu with it.
On the other hand, Okkotsu, who has made up his mind to stop Getou, promises to give his life to Rika and die with her with words of love and kiss. Then, Okkotsu's body is sacrificed to lift the restriction of Rika's spell power.
It is noteworthy that until this scene, Okkotsu's words to Rika were in the form of commands. Okkotsu had thought that he was cursed by Rika, that is, bound to her, but it was the other way around: it was Okkotsu who was holding Rika in this world, that is, binding her. When Rika showed her jealousy of Maki, Okkotsu showed a DV-like attitude, and at this point, the true master-servant relationship between the two was clearly shown. As Gojo said, "There is no curse as distorted as love".
I wonder if Rika's protection of Okkotsu up until now was in response to his demands and fears. In the end, however, Okkotsu himself promised to give his life to Rika and die with her, lifting the curse that Okkotsu had placed on Rika in the accident, "You can't die. On the other hand, Okkotsu, who had made the "binding" of offering his life, gained the maximum power from Rika and overpowered Getou.
Okkotsu and Getou clash the power of "pure love" and "cause" respectively. The clash between "love and thought" and "two people and the world" went in favor of the former. Afterwards, the spell is lifted and Rika becomes a Buddha. Okkotsu no longer needs to sacrifice himself.
The sentimental attitude of Yuta Okkotsu toward the world and his continuous calls for "You can't die" at the end of the story remind me of Shinji Ikari, the main character of the "Evangelion" series. This is true to the original story, but in the theatrical anime version of "Jujutsu Kaisen 0," Emi Ogata, the same actress who played Shinji, plays the voice of Yuta Okkotsu, which makes the story more "Eva" conscious.
Also, in the first season of the anime version of "Jujutsu Kaisen", Rika's spell breaking is mentioned. In episode 14, there is a conversation about the previous year's exchange meeting between the Tokyo and Kyoto schools. Maki tells Kugisaki Nobara that the previous year's exchange meeting in Kyoto was attended only by Okkotsu from the first year students at the time, and that the Tokyo school won the exchange meeting because it was before Rika's spell was lifted. The first episode of the first season of the anime version of "Jujutsu Kaisen" starts only half a year after "Jujutsu Kaisen 0".
The end of Gojo and Getou
Tumblr media
Getou, who was defeated by Okkotsu, had lost his right arm and had not yet abandoned his "cause". However, Satoru Gojo appears. He reveals his intention to send Panda and Gomaki, and says that he "trusts" Getou, saying that he will not kill the young magician without a reason.
The trust developed between Gojyo and Getou is based on the contents of the past volumes of comics 8 and 9, which were published after the first season of the anime. In "Jujutsu Kaisen 0", scenes from Volumes 8 and 9 are inserted as flashbacks, suggesting that the two have spent time together and have gone through a major incident to reach their current relationship.
I wonder if this will be depicted in the second season of the anime. If you want to check it out first, read the 8th and 9th volumes of the comics. The way you look at Gojo and Getou in "Jujutsu Kaisen 0" will change dramatically.

Gojo says something to Getouu after she says her last words, "In this world, I couldn't laugh from the bottom of my heart. This scene is silent, and even in the original comic, it is not clear what Gojo said to Getou. Even so, the fact that there was a 15-second pause in the movie version, as opposed to the comic version where two lines were withheld, shows that Gojo was saying something quite long.
In response, Getouu laughs bitterly and says, "At least spit out a curse word at the end". Since Gojo understands that words of love are a curse, it is not hard to imagine that he chose his words so as not to curse Getou and so that Getou would not become a grudge.
In the original comic, the line "At least spit out a curse word at the end" and the sound of the curse word are in one frame, but in the film version, there is a certain pause before the sound of the curse word is heard. In the film version, there is a certain pause before the sound of the tome is heard, which shows Gojo's hesitation.
At the end of the film, when Gojo gives Okkotsu's student ID card back to Getou, he refers to the person who picked it up as "my best friend, my one and only friend," indicating that Gojo did not hold a grudge against Getou until the end. On the other hand, Okkotsu's gaze was on Maki and the other three best friends.
After the end roll...
The problem was the post-credit scene that was inserted after the end roll (end credits). What was shown was a savannah with zebras and other animals, and a foreign city. In the city, Miguel is feeding something to Yuta Okkotsu. However, he is concerned about someone else's presence, "He must have really left," he says. The two of them are showing off their friendship, saying, "It's really good, it's like meat and potatoes," and "Call it beef stew," when a person arrives.
It was Satoru Gojo. To their surprise, Gojo says, "It's been a long time," and that's when "Spellbound 0" truly comes to an end. This scene does not appear in the original comic, so it is a bonus only for the movie version.
But in fact, Gojo's trip abroad appears in both the comics and the first season of the anime. In episode 32 of volume 4 of the comics and episode 14 of the first season of the anime, before the exchange meeting, Gojo says he was on a business trip overseas and hands out "a certain tribal amulet" to the students of the Kyoto school.
The "talisman of a certain tribe" reminds me of the spell tool Miguel used when he confronted Gojo in the Hyakki Yagyo (Night Parade of One Hundred Demons) in Shinjuku in "Jujutsu Kaisen 0".
the image of Hyakki Yakou is like this( this is "Kimetsu" thou)

He succeeded in stalling Gojo for a certain period of time with a special rope that his own country's spellcaster had spent decades weaving into a single rope.
Gojo says he was on a business trip overseas, but he was probably there to see Miguel and Okkotsu. The "amulet of a certain tribe" that he brought back is predicted to be a similar type of item to the spell tool Miguel was using. Gojo must have thought highly of that spell tool because it had stopped him in his tracks. Also, in the 33rd episode of the 4th volume of the comic, "Kyoto Sister Schools Exchange Meeting, Team 0," right after Gojo's "overseas business trip" comment, Miguel and Okkotsu appear in the door picture as if they are overseas. The tree in the background looks like a baobab tree, which grows in Africa.
In other words, the scene after the end roll of "Jujutsu Kaisen 0" is thought to be a scene from the time when the main character of "Jujutsu Kaisen", Yuji Itadori, was working with Kento Nanami. In the original "Jujutsu Kaisen 0" comic, the author Akutami Shimotsu wrote on the last page that "Miguel is the MVP of the Hyakki Yagyo" and "Miguel will have a hard time in the future because of this...", and also depicted Gojo smiling with a "grin". Miguel, who stopped Gojo, the strongest sorcerer in the world, must have been recognized by Gojo.
And why Gojo went abroad and what he talked to Miguel and Okkotsu about will be depicted in the second season of the anime. In the comics, the first season of the anime covered the middle of volume 8. As mentioned above, the past volumes 8 and 9 that follow will lead to the description of the relationship between Gojo and Getou in "Jujutsu Kaisen 0". Then, from the end of volume 9, the story returns to the present and depicts the story after the last episode of the first season of the anime.
The story of Gojo and Getou based on the contents of Volumes 8 and 9 is explained in this article.
In this article, I will explain the story of Gojo and Getou based on what was said in volume 8 and 9.
