Fuck it. I've been keeping this AU to myself for 10 years because I just didn't know how to approach it, but now I'mma share it, and you're gonna like it! Or not. I can't tell you what to do or what to like. I'm not your mom (I hope?) Different strokes for different folks, as they say. So again, not an artist. Best I can do is some scribbles. - I do write but I'm just not well versed enough in politics or war/combat to really turn this idea into a full fledged fanfiction. I dunno, maybe if enough people see this over time and show interest I'll give it a shot. Who knows. Quick Summary: The Biovolt corporation was only a tiny piece of a much bigger pie. It's collapse, though inconvenient, had ultimately only set the bigger operation back a few years, and perhaps it was to Kiril's advantage that it had. The US government had raided the abbey, "freed" the 1200 child soldiers within, and shut down the program. With the fall of Biovolt the United States was certain the threat had been eradicated and a war was no longer brewing. But they knew nothing of the bigger picture, and were still completely unaware that 300 of those "free" children had been mutated into bio-weapons with the strength of sacred beasts running through their veins. There had been concern for a time that some of the children might dare to speak out, but despite Vladimir and Voltaire's ignorance the youth had been programmed well. However, it wasn't just blind loyalty that kept them quiet. It was fear. Pure, unadulterated, fear. Those that felt any inkling to rebel (such as the members of Neo Borg) knew that to testify in a court of law, or to speak out in any manner would mean a fate far worse than death. They could never escape, and they knew that. When the time was right the children would be called to arms and would serve the operation resolutely. Those that refused to heed the call would simply be eliminated. What Kiril was unaware of, however, was that one of those children, one with a familial blood, had a rebel spirit much too strong to ever be quelled. With the power of the legendary twin phoenixes, one of life and the other of death, and his memories of the abbey nearly fully restored, 17-year-old Kai Hiwatari would soon be recognized as one of the most powerful, and most dangerous bio-weapons to have ever been created. And so.... Kiril's plans may yet be thwarted...

Interested??? Great! Alright *deep inhale* So this AU is set 2-ish years after the final season of Beyblade G-Revolution, though some parts of the series are altered (and the manga is entirely disregarded). Changes worth noting from the series:

Kai was in the Abbey from the age of 5 - 12 and didn't receive Black Dranzer until his final week there (more details later).

Black Dranzer was not created by Rasputin and is instead Suzaku's twin.

Kai is half Russian on his father's side, so legally his last name is Vetrov - though he uses his late mother's surname "Hiwatari". This means Soichiro's (who I will be referring to as Voltaire to distance him from Japanese origins) last name, for the sake of this AU, is also Vetrov.

Kai's family runs a Russian Pharmaceutical company, along with having many other investments including some of secretive military origins dating back as far as WWII.

The abbey was a military training facility first and foremost. Beyblading was only introduced as a way for them to get their hands on more sacred spirits to create more bio-weapons.

Yuriy did not take Takao to a different dimension in their battle at the end of the first season, he just used his abilities (more on this later) to wrap them in like an ice-cocoon... thing... I guess? (It's been 5 years since I last watched this series and my adhd brain does not retain information well so I'm likely to remember shit wrong.)

The events of Takao's battle with Brooklyn were not real and they did not destroy an entire stadium (because let's be real - people would have died). Brooklyn is a bio-weapon (more on this later) and used that power to get into Takao's head to create that reality as they fought. (maybe more on this in a later post.)

Vladimir offers Garland the power of a bio-weapon (though this is not explained to him properly) and it's this reason that he beats Yuriy so badly (because in this AU Yuriy is a badass who would never wind up in a coma after a beyblade match).

Kai's memory of the abbey does not fully return to him until after his battle with Brooklyn. Vladimir had to be incredibly careful not to unlock everything within Kai when he gave him Black Dranzer during the Russian tournament in season one (more on why later)

Dranzer's bit is gone - Suzaku is not. Kai is unaware that she still resides within him and has retired permanently from beyblading.

I -think- that's it for notable changes? I dunno, as I mentioned previously, the last time I watched Beyblade was during the Covid lockdown so I'm sure I'm misremembering things and forgetting others. It's an AU so just explain any other plot holes away with the power of your imagination. 🌈🦄🤷🏻‍♀️

The only ship I touch upon at all is Kai x Yuriy, and it's very light until the epilogue (which I might actually write as a standalone.)

This was actually supposed to be Mayblade 2024 but I got busy and completely forgot about it. I started working on it again in Sept slowly... and then I got covid in Oct and lost motivation. Finally finished in Nov lmao

I think one of the characters that got hit by the Bakuten Shoot artstyle change the most is Tala

Bc this is him in the first season right? The big final boss, traumatised child soldier but you couldn't really guess it from his looks, he looks perfectly fine very bbg

And then we jump to G-Revolution, keep in mind, he isn't an antagonist anymore, he went through HUGE improvements mental health wise and is on good terms with the main cast

Bakuten Shoot Beyblade characters as adults!!!!

Notes about designs under cut

-obviously inspired by the mangas time-skip adult versions. Some of them i already liked like Manabu (hence why he’s barely different) and some i didn’t fuck with like Kai (where has his sauce gone…)

-related to the previous point, i imagined the amount of time between these versions and their regular versions in the show is the same as in the manga, i didnt go off of specific years more like just based it off the manga designs entirely

-at first i was like wow, giving the Russian character an ushanka, how original. But then i remembered Rei, the chinese character in the main group literally walks around with a ying yang on his forehead so like, its only in true beyblade character design spirit if i do this.

-i was gonna design Makoto and Goh too and make them look a little less like they’re just small Takao and Kai but i gave up so I’ll probably draw them in a normal piece somewhere else (Lin too)

-i was also thinking of writing of what they were doing now in the time skip beside the drawings but im not good at writing so I gave up. Though im guessing It wouldn’t be hard to guess how Kai lost his eye or where Yuriy’s leg injury came from lol. G revolution gives its toughest beybattles to its gayest soldiers

-their jobs or atleast the characters shown in the manga as adults are probably same, like Daichi being a blader dj was so genius to me when i first read it. Though he didn’t really look like his past self in the slightest lol or to me atleast

-im not thinking of doing any more characters maybe like 2-3 more but im good this took years off my life and it was harder than i thought it would be

-i left Yuriy for last in my drawing order because hes my favorite and i was excited to draw him the most and i promised myself to not make him more detailed compared to everyone else and i completely fumbled on that im sorry LMFAO i just love him so much FUCK

beyblade relationship that i think is very cute and would love to see it more talked about: yuriy and dickenson/daitenji in g-rev

he barely knew this kid before but he sits with yuriy in the hospital for half of the season.

dickenson has just had the bba, something very important to him taken away from him by volkov. and yet he sits there with yuriy who had his childhood, innocence, trust in people, etc taken away by volkov as well. i am certain that he would think that losing the bba is nothing compared to what yuriy went through and grow attached to him.

then he would try to help him in any way he can, pay for his therapy, etc. he himself received help and got back what volkov took away from him, he would want to provide the help yuriy needs to get back what volkov took as well

yuriy on the other hand has most likely never had a proper familial relationship and i want him to experience one. i want him to eventually accept that this sweet old man genuinely wants the best for him and call him dedushka bc he probably never had an actual dedushka in his life.

Part 1 - The Spider

”Boris. Stand still.”

Normally, an order from Kai would not have been something Boris would have listened to. Rather, he would have responded with a snort or an insult. But there was something in Kai's voice this time that made him obey immediately.

”What? What is it?!”

”Don't move.”

Boris heard Kai approaching him from behind.

”What the fuck? If you're fucking around now Kai then...!”

”Boris!” Sergei's voice had the same serious tone as Kai's. ”Trust me, mate. Don't move.”

Boris felt the sweat begin to trickle down his neck. He glanced in Yuriy's direction, whose attention was completely focused on whatever Kai was doing.

”Kai...”, the redhead said nervously and immediately Boris knew what was happening. That one thing he had feared since they had landed here in Australian. A shiver went through his body. Kai swore silently.

A quick shadow on eight legs travelled up and over Boris' shoulder…

Boris's scream cut through ears and souls. He flailed his arms wildly. The poor spider flew off him, hit the wall and fell to the floor.

Yuriy and Sergei started laughing.

”Damn you both!” shouted Boris. His two mates started laughing even harder. But they both stopped when they saw what Kai was doing.

”Kai..”,Yuriy began to warn.

”It can't stay here.”

Kai got up from where he had been crouching. Boris, and much to his delight, Yuriy and Sergeij recoiled when they saw the spider in Kai's hands.

Without another word, Kai started walking towards the hotel's inner garden. Once there, he let the spider disappear up one of the trees.

”Fucking Disney princess...”,Boris muttered as he came back.

Kai smirked.

”Fucking scream queen.”
