Episode 7

Thankfully I remember enjoying this ep the most out of all of them

Again im fascinated by the shot of the city below binan hill, i wonder how many of the boys live super far down the hill

i think the twins really display how small the barriers are between boueibu villains and what they want lol, like literally Gora is across the street from them and doesnt know theyre obsessed with him, they could do Literally Anything to him Anytime lol

as much as i feel nothing abt dadacha i feel bad for the way the twins treat him haha

i actually really like this episode, it takes the piss out of itself and changes the usual pace of the show - i appreciate how OVA-y it feels

this is actually the best joke in the whole show - "why dont we all close our eyes for no reason?" SUCH A GOOD BIT

also as someone who has worked too many jobs that make me work holidays i completely relate to this monster

that one (1) moment that En had a character moment gave me so much joy

such a damn shame to miss the opportunity for enatsu and ioryuu to have chocolate-fueled horny moments :(

The new aquarium was having a special this weekend: ‘Couples get in at 1000yen each regardless of age!’. It was a two-thirds of the standard admission and for someone as economically-minded as Io, it seemed like a no-brainer to take his boyfriend there for a date. It wasn’t as if Io wouldn’t have taken Ryuu there if there wasn’t a discount on entrance tickets- not with all his begging and pleading to do something fun- but the discount served as extra motivation for Io to go today.

Ryuu admired Io’s knack for managing money. He really did, but today he couldn’t help but be a little annoyed at Io. While couples got in at a discount, groups of four or more got in at half-price each. Io obviously wanted to get the better deal. Naturally this wouldn’t have been a big deal if Yumoto, En and Atsushi were here, but Yumoto was helping Gora with the hot springs while En and Atsushi were doing some family thing at En’s house.

“Five hundred yen. Five hundred yen. Is saving five hundred yen really worth spending an afternoon with Gero and these two chucklenuts?”

“Chucklenuts?” 

“Couldn’t you at least have picked a more glamorous insult?” 

“Five hundred yen each,” Io said, as if that justified things. He ignored Ryuu’s second glare. “They’re our friends now, Ryuu. You said we could have a couple of friends tag on.” 

“Friends isn’t is exactly the words I’d use,” Akoya muttered. 

“I can’t believe I’m agreeing with you, Gero,” Ryuu said. While they were certainly now on good terms with both the Student Council and the Beppu brothers, Ryuu definitely thought they weren’t good enough friends to comfortably tag on a date. The twins laughed together and Akihiko gave a smile.

“I’d say we’re friends,” Akihiko said. “Though… please do not worry about us crashing on your date. We won’t be intrusive.”

“When have we ever been intrusive anyway?” Haruhiko grinned. Ryuu wisely bit his tongue. “If you want to go and do ‘this and that’ together, that’s fine. It’s Valentine’s Day after all. We’ll be checking the marine life. Apparently Earth has some super weird stuff.”

“This and-” Ryuu spluttered. Ryuu turned to Io- who was also blushing a hotly as he was- and gestured to the group in a way that said ‘see? See? This is what I mean!’

“Don’t lump me in with any of you,” Akoya huffed. “As soon as I get in, I’m going off on my own. If I didn’t want to look at the exhibits, I wouldn’t be here.”

“And not because Io asked you?” Haruhiko asked, a small smirk on his face.

Ryuu immediately clung onto Io. “You’re not stealing my man.”

“I’m not some floozy who goes around stealing other people’s boyfriends!” 

“So what are you? A hopeless romantic? A pining princess?” The twins grinned, turning on Akoya with identical Cheshire Cat grins. 

“N-neither! Hey!”

“Pining princess works. He’s very pretty after all.”

“So much prettier than our apes.”

“O-of course I’m prettier than the rest of those plebeians at school,” Akoya said, his face tinted pink. 

With Akoya distracted by the onslaught of playful teasing of the Beppu brothers, Io wrapped his arm around Ryuu’s hip. He squeezed him gently.

“Sorry,” Io murmured quietly. “It’s just good business ethic to get the best deals no matter what.”

“We can all pay the full admission with the change in our wallets. They didn’t have to come and you didn’t have to invite them,” Ryuu whispered back, still marginally miffed. Io kissed Ryuu’s knuckles.

“I’m sorry, Ryuu. I really am. …Let’s just go in and have a good time. Akoya’s right, we’ll probably split up once we get in. And if we don’t… I promise I’ll make it up to you later.”

Ryuu sighed. He was still annoyed Io got these three to tag along on their date, but he see that Io was making an honest effort to be more mindful his feelings. It wasn’t Io’s fault that he had the empathy of a shallow pool. Wanting to have a good Valentines’, Ryuu squeezed Io’s hand gently and gave him a smile.

“Fine, I’ll forgive you.” He did like the idea of alone time. “Just make sure you never say those words again.”

“‘I’ll make it up to you’?”

“No. ‘Akoya’s right.’”

Io laughed and the two boys let go of each other’s hand, knowing that they’d soon be reunited. Io handed the tickets out to the five and lead the way to the aquarium entrance. The twins quickly trotted after him, leaving Akoya to drag the rear of the group with Ryuu.

“This is gonna be interesting,” Akoya muttered under his breath, though there was a smirk on his face.

“Yeah…” Ryuu nodded in agreement. “Bet you’re gonna be scared of the sharks. All those crooked, ugly teeth probably will be too much for you.”

“Oh please. I look at you guys every day at school. I can handle it.” Akoya laughed. “Just make sure those idols don’t drive me crazy.”

“Tell Io that, not me.”

“Your boyfriend’s crazy for you. I expect no help with wrangling those two.”

“Heh… I’m counting on that.” Ryuu couldn’t help but grin. Maybe Akoya wasn’t so bad, and maybe he and Io would get some alone time after all.

Do you think boueibu needs another season?

That’s kinda a hard question anon, because I’d love to see more of our boys, but at the same time I do feel like the ova was such a nice ending for the series as a whole. I really enjoyed Wombat’s speech in the end, that they no longer need magical powers when they encounter a loveless, but they help with their words. I find that a beautiful growth for our boys.

That being said... the 2nd years(by now 3rd years) didn’t get enough of their own story in season 1 and 2, in my opinion at least. Season 2 choose to focus mainly on Yumoto even and didn’t really acknowledge him as a flawed character. S2 also gave a lot of focus to the twins but that I could forgive because the twins were two all new characters. Yumoto on the other hand had already gotten the most lines in s1.

Now there’s still En, Io, Ryuu, Akoya and Ibushi who could use a story of their own. So I say... maybe make another movie for those (or at least Io, Ryuu and Akoya, seeing as En and Ibushi were somewhat involved in the s1 finale plot)

But if that doesn’t happen that’s fine too cause there’s always fanfiction. And like I said, the ova really was a nice ending for the series.

At least it’s endearing. Most of the time. - Part time job at the Kurotama with his senpai Hakone Yumoto, whose family owns the onsen - Family friends with fellow first year Arima Ibushi

Yufuin En - 2nd year - Childhood friends enemies with second year student council member Kusatsu Kinshirou - Active in the stock market. If asked, he’d say stocks are his number one passion. - Has an odd but effective sleep schedule. Third year Naruko Io constantly tries to make him take a nap, though. - Very pragmatic, but it sometimes gets in the way of his relationships with other people - Convinced fellow second year Hakone Yumoto to join the Earth Defense Club - He wants to find a way to waterproof his tablet so he can use it in the baths.

Hakone Yumoto - 2nd year - Dates are his number one hobby - Is not actually interested in romance or a lasting romantic relationship. He just thinks flirting and dates are fun, and likes that they make other people happy. - Piles on the charm when it’s not necessarily needed. En doesn’t think he realizes it. - Loves animals, but isn’t allowed to keep a pet. Entrusts any and all strays he finds with the Beppus, third year twins who live across from the Kurotama. - Often victim to Atsushi’s hugs. He doesn’t mind it all that much.

Naruko Io - Third year - Has mostly been cruising through life, letting it take him where it takes him. - Enjoys manga and naps - Surprisingly dilligent student. He says if he gets good grades now he’ll have an easier time later in life, and besides, studying isn’t all that difficult, is it? - Started the Earth Defense Club with fellow third year Zaou Ryuu back in their first year, but they both neglected to hand in the official club form until now - Doesn’t say much of anything that isn’t an intelligent quip, but he’s always thinking about something. Ryuu says it’s him dreaming during the day in order to have a deeper sleep at night.

Zaou Ryuu - Third year - Studies hard, but has barely above average grades. Jealous of Io’s seemingly natural affinity for studying and doing good on tests. - Enjoys anime more than manga. Has gotten into several debates with Io over which is better. - Also really likes dating sims, but he would never admit it - Often getting Io and himself out of trouble. Isn’t sure how they end up in most of the situations in the first place. - Third year council president Gero Akoya doesn’t seem to like him. He’s not sure why. Maybe he has something against the Earth Defense Club?

Miscellaneous Boueibu Headcanons

I should be screencapping my ep 7 liveblog and getting it ready to post but I have had no energy and haven’t much been in a boueibu mood because I haven’t seen a lot of content pass my dash so have some headcanons to hopefully spark my inspiration to get my liveblog done tomorrow or monday-

So everyone has this one but Ryuu is totally bisexual. To expand, however, it’d make sense to me he’s more romantically interested in women but both romantically and sexually interested in men.

Ryuu and Akoya probably had a fling in the past (or even potentially s1 timeframe), fueled by rivalry/mutual subconscious or overt pining over Io. Fling never progressed much beyond random makeout sessions or mild experimentation and fizzled once the DC and the SC figured out the others’ identities in the s1 finale. Cue pinks deciding that it’s too much effort to be physical and after an awkward conversation a friendship (ish) was born. (I swear I will write this fic one day...)

I don’t particularly ship it but in a verse where AkoIoRyuu OT3 doesn’t happen, the Pinks fling probably was also squashed by Ibushi coming forward and confessing to Akoya.

En has an eidetic memory- or at least close to one. He’s incredibly intellectually gifted but isn’t motivated in school in the slightest because he’s bored. Kiddo probably should have skipped a couple grades.

Io probably has a beloved pet of some kind that no one knows about because he’s too embarrassed to admit he gets most of his interactions from his pet. Not sure what- a dog would be too much work for someone like him but definitely affectionate enough. Perhaps a cat or a bird.

Akoya would have a prize-winning fluffy white persian cat with a long lineage of purebred show cats. He spends about as much time brushing his cat as he does brushing his own hair.

Ryuu secretly has a photography hobby. His selfies and sneaky photos of Io can’t be the only pics he takes.

Atsushi probably babysits on weekends for neighbors.

Yumoto is incredibly emotionally intelligent and perceptive of others’ feelings. His immaturity, however, sometimes gets in the way of him being mindful of others’ feelings (ie ignoring that his DC friends hate the battle lover thing lol)

Probably not much of a headcanon but Yumoto craves physical affection like nothing else. Touch is his primary love language and while he occasionally seeks out Gora, he’s kind of focused most of his needs on Wombat to avoid coming across as too childish and needy to his big brother. He doesn’t want to be a bother to Gora.

It secretly really hurts that Wombat rejects Yumoto’s cuddles. He proceeds anyway because he needs his fix somehow to remain so upbeat. Yumoto without the bare minimum of cuddles would get depressed.

Ibushi secretly resents being taken for granted by Kinshiro and Akoya. But he’d never say anything about it.

...I wish I had headcanons about Atsushi and Kinshiro but at this time I do not OTL. Come back after I’ve rewatched the whole series.

The Beppus are majorly touch starved. Hence why they react with blushy embarrassment at enjoying Yumoto’s drugged cuddles.

Post s2, once Yumoto picks up on this, the twins and Yumoto probably become really touchy friends (after the twins get over their awkwardness/apologize for being little pricks)

Like- post s2 you walk in the clubroom on any given day and find Yumoto playing with Akihiko’s hair while Haruhiko is casually hugging Yumoto in his lap asfjlasdkjfl;askjdfldskjflkjlaskdjf;lajksld;ajfs (Cupkayke.exe has stopped working)

As much as I ship BeppuMoto or even just HaruMoto, romance aside like platonic BeppuMoto cuddles are a thing that start to happen on a very very very frequent basis to the point where the DC just ignore it lol. Yumoto and Haru holding hands? Check. Aki leaning on Yumoto while having a conversation with the others? Check. Yumoto getting squished into the middle of a Beppu hug sandwich? Check.

All three of them gradually become less obnoxious when their cuddle meters are full. 

Wombat is grateful.

Once the third years graduate, one or both of the Beppus join the student council (maybe even with Io).

Even before that happens, once the SC are back from abroad/the Beppus start hanging around more, the secret door leading from the DC room to the SC office starts getting propped open on occasion. Cue Kinshiro scolding the DC whenever one of them winds up in the office uninvited but no one can actually take his scolding seriously.

...and perhaps I will write more about post s2 headcanons about the entire cast’s interactions. But for now... enjoy this shit lol

WHO SNEAKS IN COOKIES IN THE SHOPPING CARTOkay so Yumoto probably does it when he’s with Gora, but if Yumoto is entrusted with the shopping list+money he takes it very seriously, and the twins know it, and like to tease him by seeing if they can sneak his favorite sweets in, seeing if he’ll notice or even want to take the sweets out of the cart when he does notice

This is for @mindsebbandflow‘s new giveaway, and let me tell you I wasn’t sure how to express my love for my favorite character. Although by now, I’m very sure that my followers can guess which boueibu character is my favorite.

Ryuu has been my favorite ever since I first watched the show, and even before. He stood out to me in all the promotional material as well. By now it was just his pinkness or.. The adorable factor that caused it, although... What's not to love?

I’ve taken this as an excuse to rant about my favorite character so prepare yourself for a long post dedicated to Ryuu Zaou and my love for him.

Also included: - Headcanons - Speculations - Some pics - AU ideas (sponsored by me and @fillyrika) - LOTS of ranting, I mean it when I say this turned out long.

Ryuu is adorable, there is no denying it.

His Looks His hair is bright and looks so soft, and he's got big, bright, brown eyes that really go well with all that pink. I have a bias for him with his hair down, but he's had his hair plenty of ways which I all enjoyed, look at these! 

I'm sure there's probably some I missed. I love those two from the posters too. Look at how bright they are. And Ryuu really knows how to accessorize. I like that he has earrings, and wears headbands, plus the fedora looked really nice on him too.

His outfits from what we seen range from stylish (season 1 ep 7, staff said they picked the outfit from a fashion magazine) to cozy. (season 2 ep 8, sugary ioryuu poster)

I think he looks a lot younger with his hair down, which is probably why he wears it up. Can't be a womanizer if you look like a kid after all.

Personality Enough about his looks now. On to his personality. Ryuu is playful and fun. Reckless, bold, impatient, loud, charismatic, cheery and sweet. He often acts without thinking, and always speaks his mind. Those don't always go well together, and it led to him hurting Yumoto's feelings in season 2. It was never addressed, mainly because Yumoto himself didn't address it.

Still personality but some speculation and headcanons join in now ^^

But there's also some things Ryuu doesn't say. Those things are noticed through his actions. Ryuu has a strong, needy desire to be liked. Not just popular, but liked. It's where his people pleasing tendencies come from. That combined with how he dates around, leads me to think that Ryuu wants to feel wanted.  

Did I mention that I LOVE how one of the first thing Io noticed about Ryuu, was that Ryuu is a huge people pleaser and does anything to be liked?! Because my feels!!

And judging by how Ryuu reacted how Io was leaving the defense club in season 1 episode 6, I think kiddo has abandonment issues.

The source of it? Well in novel 1 we find out that Ryuu is raised by his grandma and not his parents. This leads me to believe that  

Considering that Ryuu lives with his grandma and not with his parents, I headcanon that his parents left him with her, not when he was a baby, but when he was old enough to understand that his parents left and didn't come back for him. But he wouldn't be old enough to be able to understand that it was his parents' error. He'd think they left because they didn't like him. Because they didn't want him.

So from then on Ryuu started to do everything he could do, to get people to like him. And when he discovered dating.... Well Ryuu is a softy. He likes romance, those trival realistic moments, like sharing coffee with a girl, or when your shoulders brush when the train shakes. Dating lots of girls makes Ryuu feel like he's wanted.  

Plus he's a fluffy romance lover!

THEY GROW UP SO FAST!!!

Another thing that's amazing about Ryuu is that deep down he doesn't always feel like he's amazing. That's what we found out in season 2 episode 6.

"I'm an idiot who only thinks of getting with girls." -Ryuu Zaou s2e6

Me and Io shared that appalled tone because D: !! Kiddo no! You're amazing and I love you. And of course I ADORED THE SUBTLE LAYER OF WONDERFUL ANGST!!!

There's more than meets the eye with Ryuu. He's not the smartest and he knows it. But he's a social butterfly and good with reading people. I was honestly surprised by his good analysis on the Beppu twins. So was Io for that matter.

I think that Ryuu is a very good liar/actor, because he knows what people want to hear. We've seen him do it with Wombat in season 1 episode 11, making up the word 'lovetivity' and saying just the right things to get Wombat to agree with him.

Another thing we learn about Ryuu in season 2 is that he can draw. At least chibis XD and in the otome game, when we see Ryuu's room there's this framed picture of a man in fashionable clothes. Now I doubt that Ryuu would frame a magazine clipping. So... What if he designed that himself?

Headcanon: Ryuu goes to study fashion design in Tokyo. Not only that but he ends up going to the same college as Akoya where they end up being roommates.

I can also picture Ryuu becoming a fashion designer when he's older.

I headcanon that Ryuu's grandma owns a bakery, and she helped Ryuu make those chocolates for Io.

Some talk of the side material. Well I love Ryuu in the otome game. It gave us lots of gems like that picture of Ryuu's room. This adorable pj pic

Thanks to @vashtijoy for giving me that keychain I still treasure it! That game also gave us that wonderful ioryuu route. I still love reading @intra-fiducia‘s translations of that game, and the ioryuu friend end. Plus there is that wonderful post about how ioryuu are in the game.

I didn't actively follow the conquest club's manga, but I enjoyed that it showed that Ryuu being good at those machine grabby game things, to win stuffed toys. He must have had lots of practice thanks to winning toys for his dates.  

The novels are a treasure, not just for how they portray the characters but also because of the more serious plot. I already talked about the first novel so I won't do it again. The second and third novel aren't translated though, but a bit from one of the first chapters makes me think that Ryuu may be the result of an unplanned teen pregnancy.  

Someone told me about how shippy the third novel is, and I can't wait to find out more about that!

There's that comic thing, which I adored, mostly because of my ultimate brotp! Pink Bros! I love the comic in which the pinks work out together, and how Akoya worried about telling Ryuu he was leaving. Those to became close friends and I love it! I love how Akoya grew to care about Ryuu and- Akoya is good at reading people too! I bet he understood that Ryuu has abandonment issues and worried about telling Ryuu that he was leaving.  

And their friendship was still in a fragile new place for him too.

Now I LOVE the Boueibu manga, it's still going, but that ioryuu chapter made that thing priceless! How ioryuu have their first real fight in it! Io worrying about Ryuu getting a cold and putting a blanket over him. And that face kiddo makes when Io says "Stay at my side forever!" Amazing! Amazing! Amazing!

It's no secret that I enjoyed the boueibu stage play. Aramaki portrayed Ryuu so well. Captured his fun spirit and his cuteness, and looked great while doing it. Aramaki spoke like Ryuu, walked like Ryuu and sang like Ryuu. It's scary! He even moved like Ryuu! The play is filled with so many wonderful moments as well!

Relationships with others

IORYUU = LIFE

I'm not joking, this ship brings me so much joy. The way they look at each other, how they sound different when talking to each other. How they'd blindly defend the other against their peers. Io's protectiveness is so great! And that they're opposites but admire each other's differences. They're so proud of each other! I'll say it again I love protective Io.  

There's so many wonderful ioryuu moments, all of episodes 6, both in season 1 and 2. Those posters, their duets. God I love Sync a Think!

I've made many separate posts about ioryuu so I'll leave it at this for now.

There's akoryuu/pink bros. My ultimate brotp. In my recent fanfic Pink Blood, I made them discover that they're actually related in canon universe. All because Akoya's father had a one night stand with Ryuu's mom. I've loved this BROTP since I started planning my fanfic In the Name of Love, and have been in love with it ever since.

They're also related in several of the AUs I created with @fillyrika. Such as: - Mermaid AU - Fairy AU - Magic School AU - DC Villains AU - CPS AU

And they have a sibling like bond in - Brothel AU - Slave AU - Monster AU

Then there's also Enryuu, season 2 give me a thing that I had kinds hoped for but didn't expect to fall in love with. I kind low-key shipped enryuu before, because the smut would be steamy. (get it Fire + water) But now it's a strong brotp as well. There's several GREAT fanfics for this brotp as well. Like the fic where En stop Ryuu from being bullied, and the one where enryuu wear matching skirts ^^

I have lots of Ryuu merchandise too, I'll share a pic of it later ^^

And I've reached the point were I call Ryuu my son so much, that my mom started calling him her grandson.
