1. how many works do you have on AO3?

28, of which 11 are in German, 17 in English. Of the English fics, 2 are podfics and 1 is filk (for the lyrics someone else wrote). I should re-record that last one, I've become a much better singer since then.

2. what’s your total AO3 word count?

55,059 words

3. what fandoms do you write for?

Various, and rarely a lot in one fandom these days. Mass Effect and Rivers of London are my current go-to fandoms.

4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos?

What we're made of (Harry Potter: trans Viktor Krum at the Yule Ball with Hermione)

Sleepless Night (Good Omens: hurt/comfort double drabble about insomnia)

The Darkest Prison (Rogue One: pre-canon Baze/Chirrut fic about the early days of Imperial occupation and Baze's loss of faith in the Force)

Breathe, breathe in the air (Rivers of London: see my anwer to the smut question, Peter/Beverley and Peter/Old Beverley)

Bintumani (Rivers of London: Elsie Winstanley & Peter's mom have an adventure in Sierra Leone)

The first 3 are no surprise because they're all in rather big fandoms. The first one was for the "Trans Wizard Tournament" so it got lots of readers from there. The next two contain popular ships of their fandoms. The last two are a bit of a surprise, but they haven't that many kudos overall, just more than the others, and they are both from Yuletide and probably get some of their readers from there. The rest of what I write is either in niche fandoms or very niche within a bigger fandom or not in English.

5. do you respond to comments?

Yep, although I can take a while.

6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Under the burning sun (Mass Effect: Kaidan and Shepard go back to Virmire to grieve Ashley)

A fic about two survivors of a mission grieving their colleague who died on said mission. One feels responsible because he made the decision who to leave behind, the other feels guilty because he was saved while his colleague was left to die. Doesn't get any angstier than that in my book.

7. what’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Phew hard to say, perhaps it's "Spürst du die Funken" (see my answer to the translation question)

8. do you get hate on fics?

Never got any hate mail, but then I don't have much of an audience either so the chances are slim.

9. do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I started recently, as in, over the last 1.5 years or so. There's one unpublished and unfinished fic that was actually the first, which only consists of a series of sexual fantasies so far but will lead to inadvisable undernegociated kinky sex between two characters who suck at communication and have loads of emotional baggage between them. There's another one that I actually published, a ... kind of weird metaphysical sex scene in which two characters have sex in the real world but also one of them has sex with the other's metaphysical alter ego on another plane of existence.

10. do you write crossovers?

I have 1 crossover WIP that I haven't touched in a long time, Rivers of London x The Old Guard, re:immortality. I tend to be intimidated by them because doing the different sources materials justice within one work sounds more challenging than if it's just one on its own.

11. have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope, but there's a half finished translation into English of one of my German fics, a HP Dean/Seamus getting together story with gray-aromantic bi Dean and gay Seamus.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes, with @shakespearerants, but it's not published yet.

Also, the vast majority of my writing output (easily 20-30k words a year, used to be as high as 50k) is for a forum-based, long-form text writing RPG, which may count as co-writing and may count as fic.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?

I once wrote a 70k Harry Potter fanfic in German, a schoolgirl romance between Minerva McGonagall and Pomona Sprout (with my own character backgrounds for them). It would need much editing to be in any way presentable - the text is missing the character arcs I intended to put in it, I decided to change one of the characters' age and school year halfway in, and the ending would need a lot more preparation to be satisfying. And while I'm proud to have written 70k words of fanfic, I cannot overstate how little interest I have in connecting with others over Harry Potter these days, and I wouldn't enjoy interacting with readers about it. So I'm never going to share it and it's never going to be anything else than a first draft.

Edit: I just noticed I read the question wrong (I was very tired yesterday), but I'll keep my answer that way because the point stands: I'd like to have finished it because more satisfying than having written a 70k fic would be having it polished and published, but for aforementioned reason that's not going to happen.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Writing distinct character voices, I think. At least in German.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Dialogue! It always takes a lot of editing work to make it lively.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Ohh, lots. Basically the question is "what are you trying to achieve"? Why would the character do it? If you write dialogue in another language, which of the characters understands it, and do you want your readers to understand it? If two characters switch languages, why not say "[...] she said in French"?

The one fic in which I put the most thought about how to convey language is probably "What we're made of", the trans Viktor Krum fic, which is written from his perspective, but I elected not to add a orthographic representation of his accent, because he wouldn't be aware of it. I did give him some grammatical errors that I thought native speakers of Bulgarian might make in English - but just in direct speech and not in his internal monologue (all errors are mine there) because I assume his internal monologue to be in Bulgarian.

I did use some cyrillic, namely I used the spelling of "Hermione" from the Bulgarian HP4, from the scene in which Hermione tells him how to pronounce her name, because he would think about the pronounciation by way of the cyrillic spelling.

Also there's this sentence: "She pronounced his name ‘Victor’, as if it was English. A short i, the o as a short a, almost like ъ, and the r in that strange way English people pronounced their r, with bared front teeth." (ъ being the Bulgarian cyrillic letter for a schwa sound)

I haven't had any good opportunities to actually write dialogue in another language. One reason would be if the character was code switching, but then I'd want to be sure (in most cases) that readers who don't speak the language could still follow, so I probably wouldn't put the whole dialogue in another language, just a phrase or two, and have another character react to that. It could be fun as an easter egg for readers who speak both.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

The first story for which I tried writing a continuation was some horse book set in Cornwall with Endurance riding.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

Always the one I finished last? I don't know. I'm always proud that they're finished, and they all scratch an itch.

Written for @harrypocter fest "Winter Sun" Prompt for Week 3: Lee Jordan It's all banter. Really, it's a thing with her.

“Oi Angelina! Go out with me?”

“Ask me on the Quidditch pitch!”

And you play the part with a microphone on the Quidditch pitch, and she scores goals and wins the game.  And that suits both of you.  

“Go to the Yule Ball with me?”

“Yeah, you, me and Fred. Let’s make a dramatic entrance.”

“I don’t fancy dancing with Fred.”

“Shame, he is the better dancer.”

You dance with George in the Yule Ball, and the four of you laugh without a care in the world. A few months later, the world starts to change, but the four of you try to hold onto the invincibility of youth; a time before Fred and George left Hogwarts in a flurry of righteous chaos.

“Oi Captain! The Hogsmeade weekend looks free.”

“Unless your name is Jack Sloper, I wouldn’t be seeing anyone this weekend.”

“Is he that terrible?”

“Appalling.”

And then, one day it isn’t banter. It is losing your best friend in war and your other best friend to the prison of his grief. It is the demanding, never ending emptiness rattling in your ribcage. It is dulling of it with alcohol, and wondering if it is all pointless… It is passing out on Angelina’s couch. It is holding her hand and trying to capture that invincibility of a time you would never get to have again. It is wondering if consuming your friends is the only way you get to keep them.

It is holding her hand and telling her not to leave you, please, and her eyes, gentle and kind, unwrapping her fingers from yours and kissing you on the forehead, saying “Goodnight Lee.”

And then, the next day, you are embarrassed and grateful. “Thank you,” you tell her. "I'm really sorry - it's just- well I'm glad you didn't let that happen."

“Well, at least someone cares about our fucking friendship,” she says, but it is without judgement. She is bantering with you again, but you are too ashamed for a rejoinder.

“Too soon?” she asks, all light and casual.

“Too soon,” you say. 

Her eyes soften. “You know I love you right?”

“I-” you flail, but she wraps her fingers on top of yours. You did not earn the words today, not when you are shit-faced and grieving.

“Get your act together,” she tells you, softly.

“I know,” you say. 

You leave her apartment and breathe. Few years later, at Angelina and George’s wedding, you yell - I love you, to her, to him, to both, and it doesn't matter because she throws her bouquet at your head for your trouble. AO3 here

So, Tumblr is up to its bullshit again. I am not receiving notifications, and even the little activity bubble on the app or web page isn't alerting me to anything. When I click on it, there's new stuff in there... fuck you Tumblr.

Head is progressively better. Still achey, but it is better. I've made it out to the couch today and am actually accomplishing things that I've needed to get done the last few days but couldn't. Go me! Was also able to get clarification from one of my doctors about a new medication they wanted me to start as soon as some tests came back, and so that's settled. Add another damn pill to the mix for at least the next 90 days 😕.

In other news, I have been toying with the idea of writing a Joel fic where he experiences Yule for the first time. Not Christmas or a Wiccan Yule, but a Norse Pagan Yule. I see others wanting to write various holiday stories to share their holiday traditions or be more inclusive, which got me thinking. It'll be related to the only other fic I've written and posted here. If I can figure out how to do it on the phone (or remember to go back and edit it on the laptop), I'll post a link for it. But Joel learns about Yule through the eyes of a child with the help of her aunt, his future girlfriend. Again, just toying with it.

Still not sure how I feel about the whole Pedro and F4 thing. A lot more info is out now with conflicting stories, which is typical. It's boiled down to the waiting game. No matter what, I will support him in whatever role he takes, even if I think it's a shit one. To me, from knowing Reed Richards in the comics, he's a boring, abusive asshole. Don't care he's a genius. Doesn't give him the right to be that way. Tony may be a playboy, but he isn't an abusive one. He's a jerk. He can be an asshole. But he ain't Reed. And that's where I will leave that.

Well... it was supposed to be something like the Yule fic, 1K or something, as a New Year gift for my Russian friend. It ended to be 10 times longer and a 6 chapters (+epilogue) mini fic

Hi ! I posted the second chapter of the little New Year fic. This one is a lot of world building. And ... puffskeins.

The introduction scene :

Huffs and puffs gave their tempo to their steps in the cold cold night, glittering smokes under the silvery light. Under their soles, the frozen snow squeaked, implored them to find a shelter and end its suffering soon, to allow for a new pristine path to appear, peacefully renowned by the flakes sent by the fairy-floss clouds.

Nose buried under his old school scarf, Newt would have wanted to stop his gaze on every detail, every iced plant, every crackled puddle, every paw printed on the ground, but the group hurried to the slightly reclusive house. Tina’s fingers had woven with his, her thumb stoke his scar in soothing circles. As his breath naturally took the rhythm of her caress, he could tell that she was with him, perfectly present; even though she talked with Sebastian and Theseus, sharing anecdotes and thoughts, while Newt’s lingered in the air.

Soon, the page of a new year would turn, offering them a blank partition to sing their story. Yule’s energy would gradually vanish as the Sun would fight, bringing Litha to life every day even more.

For now, winter’s powers filled the air, and Newt could feel the magic tickle his skin, agitate his cells and erect the hair on his nape.

A week after the last Litha, his life had been given back to him.

A week after Yule, he was ready to start a new existence.

All he had to do was to put his affairs in order .

"Becareful with that one, hes a good fuck but you may want to leave instead of staying the night" she winked at your confused expression, before turning you around.

Bumping into someones side. You meant to apologize, but looking up, into the face of the young man, your voice caught in your throat. He smiled a deadly grin, placing a hand at the small of your back.

"You alright?" he asked, eyes twinkling.

"Yeah, sorry!" you spoke, trying to speak clearly to spite the loud music.

He grinned at you, head tilting to the side like a curious puppy. Just then, it dawned on you.

The hungry eyes, head tilt, and comment from the vampire. Hes a Wolf. You might be from out of the neighborhood, but you knew well enough, the only pack that had this area as territory. SKZ. He was a Wolf in SKZ.

"Oh? You catch on? Scaredy cat?" he chuckled, licking his lips.

"Im not afraid of you." you bluntly stated. He laughed.

Out pushed the grand wood doors of the great stone castle, and out poured a gaggle of giggling students. Their rapid steps pressed fresh footprints in the newly-fallen snow that lay in towering mounds across the school grounds. Gryffindors, Ravenclaws, and Hufflepuffs alike shrieked and laughed and shouted from all sides. In the rush of excitement, even your little gang of Slytherins forgot to be too mature to join in the fun. They did not, however, forget to keep an eye on you.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Pansy shouted as you skirted the snowball fight set dead in front of Hogwarts’ entrance.

“Not sure why you think it’s any of your business,” you answered coolly.

Pansy gaped at you, as you’d known she would, and got a face full of snow courtesy of Goyle for her trouble. Of course, you shouldn’t have laughed at this as hard as you did. You were supposed to be Pansy’s friend. Given present circumstances, you couldn’t help but derive some pleasure at seeing her look so foolish.

“I don’t think I’ll be joining you today,” you said when the titters had subsided. “A snowball fight is too childish. I’m going to take a walk instead.”

“I’ll go with you.” Draco peeled himself away from the tree he’d been leaning on.

“You’re going to go on a walk? With [Name]?” Pansy demanded.

“We’re a little too grown up for games, the two of us. We’ll catch up with you later.“

Clearly, Pansy had learned nothing from earlier. Again she gaped, and again Goyle shoved snow into her face. It was to the sound of his stupid laughter that you and Draco set off on a quiet walk to the lake.

Most things between you and Draco were quiet those days. You had known him long enough not to take his silences personally when you had nothing to do with them. Unfortunately, you suspected that this time, you did have something to do with it. As much as you had hoped for his company that day, you had no clue what to do with it now you had it. For a long while, the only sounds were your boots stamping through the thin layer of hard snow on the ground and your teeth chattering against each other.

Draco did nothing to break the ice, literally or figuratively. Occasionally, his gloved hand would brush the back of yours, but other than that, you might as well have been all alone–all alone, staring at the Drumstrang ship in the middle of the lake and its students swimming in the unfrozen waters just outside it.

“Glad I’m not expected to get in there with them. Looks worse than the snowball fight,” you said, half-smiling at your companion.

Draco’s gray eyes finally shifted to meet yours. “It’s probably not that cold. I could handle it. If I wanted to.”

“Oh, sure.” Roll your eyes though you might have, still it was good to hear some of Draco’s usual self peeking through. You gestured at the shoreline. “Go on, then. No one’s stopping you. Bet it’d be good for a laugh.”

He hesitated. “No. I don’t think so. Not today.”

“Got a hot date later? Don’t want to mess up your hair?”

One corner of Draco’s mouth puckered. You giggled, nudged him, and motioned with your head at a nearby stone bench. He did not protest your leading him over to it, nor helping you brush off most of the snow before you sat down. His shoulders hunched up once you did, though. You held your tongue a few minutes longer, watching the flags on the ship flying in the breeze–but even you had limited amounts of self-control.

“Honestly, Draco, I can’t believe you’re taking Pansy to the ball tonight!”

Color raced into his pale cheeks; his thin eyebrows pinched forward as he frowned. “Oh, because your choice is so much better. If you’re so smart, who else was I supposed to go with?”

“Anyone! Some Durmstrang girl. Hermione Granger.” You tossed your head at his snort when you mentioned this last one. “You’re Draco Malfoy. You could go with anyone you wanted, but you went with Pansy just because she’s pure-blood and pretty.”

“Don’t you dare–you know I can’t take whoever I want, and you know why! Don’t think you can lecture me on who I should have asked when at least I asked someone of good birth.”

“You should have asked me before Lee did, that’s all.”

“A half-blood. And I’m the one lowering myself.”

You had known Draco for almost as long as you could remember. Your family tree was not quite pure enough to tempt his father to arrange a marriage, but good enough to provide a nearby playmate throughout your childhoods. School hadn’t changed much, except that you had to learn to share your best friend with a whole multitude of others, Pansy included.

When he had stopped you after dinner one night to ask you to the Yule Ball, you’d been so shocked you’d told him the only thing you could think of: the truth. Never in a million years would you have dreamed he would just drop the subject (he usually got what he wanted), or that your father would start sending you owls scolding you over exactly what Draco was saying at that very moment.

“He’s a damn sight better than Pansy, and he makes me laugh,” you said, as though that settled the matter.

"I suppose that’s because his entire life is a joke,” said Draco.

“You’re just jealous.” No need to bring up that that was the chimney calling the cauldron black. Your behavior toward Pansy since she’d come squealing into the common room with the news ten nights ago had probably made your feelings pretty obvious, but if Draco hadn’t figure it out yet, you weren’t going to spell it out for him. “Anyway, if you’d asked me first, I would have said yes, but you didn’t, and that’s all there is to it. I’m not backing out on Lee. Like I said, he makes me laugh. You haven’t made me laugh once since you tried asking me.”

Your nose could not have further pointed in the air if you tried to force it. Mentally prepared to have Draco insult both you and your date once more, you were surprised when you looked over at him and found a strange expression on his face. Draco’s cheeks were very faintly pink, lips slightly ajar, his eyes shining. He ducked his head when he caught you staring.

“You would have gone with me? If I asked before he did?”

“Of course!” you burst out, and a reluctant smile twisted his features. “Do you think I want to go with some Gryffindor when I could have gone with you?”

His smile grew just a little as he shifted closer to you on the bench. “You wanted to go with me?”

“Obviously.” Actually, you’d thought Draco would have insisted a little more on you dumping Lee for him to begin with. When he hadn’t, you’d assumed it was because you weren’t his first choice. “And you wanted to go with me?”

“Who else would I really want to go with? And don’t you dare say Granger.”

You laughed, bumping your shoulder gently against his. “I’d kill you myself if you went with her.”

“At least my father wouldn’t have to. But I wouldn’t touch her with a ten-foot wand.”

“I know, I know.”

The silence that fell that time was amicable and broken only by the sound of one of the Durmstrang boys slamming into the lake water. Your breath fogged in front of you as you watched. Beside you, Draco radiated the only warmth available–a warmth you couldn’t exactly take advantage of without infuriating his date.

“I’ll forgive you on one condition,” you announced suddenly.

“For what? Asking another girl when you said no?”

“For not asking me sooner and ruining both our evenings,” you replied with another toss of your head. He didn’t argue. “Save me one dance? Please? We can sneak off if we have to, so Pansy and Lee won’t know.”

He paused, then shared with you a rare grin. “Deal. But only if you promise to go to the next ball with me.”

“Promise.”

Perhaps this would have led to something deeper than the friendship you both had shared so far. Maybe Draco would have tried to hold your hand in earnest, or you would have worked up the nerve to give him a kiss.

You would never know. Just then Pansy appeared, with Goyle and Crabbe and Theodore in tow, insisting it was time you girls went inside to get ready for that night. You didn’t miss the iron grip she kept on your arm as she steered you back toward the castle, nor the scowl on her face–but what did it matter? It was you Draco wanted, and next time, he would be yours for sure.

25. Do you listen to music as you write? If possible, link your writing playlist.

hmmmm some of the time, maybe half? i definitely listen to music a lot BEFORE i start writing, to get me into the mood/ clear my head sorta — it’s also happened before, once or twice, that i’m poking around spotify without the intention of writing and i get randomly bitten by the urge to fling out some words. not necessarily good words, but — whatever, we take those XD

28. How do you deal with writing pressure (ie: pressure to update, negative comments, deadlines, etc)?

uhhhh BADLY. (also, my writing pressure is pretty much all internal rather than externally imposed, if that matters!)

1) sometimes i try to push through the bad, and — sometimes it works, honestly. sometimes brain is just being a dumb and cuts out the tantrum after a while.

2) trying to get my head in the right space — so, music, and — that’s mostly why i have these lying around tbh: self care tag / encouragement / overcoming perfectionism

3) venting to understanding people!!! one of the most important things i’ve found (am still learning) is that so many people—literally even the most amazing ‘why are you not writing original fiction you could be making a killing’ / ‘you??? reading MY TRASH?? why do you even BOTHER honestly’ writers—can relate to these writing struggles! & not just the struggle, but also that indescribable desire to do it anyway. it’s weird and wonderful and literally the only reason i even dared to start let alone am still going (ish) hahaha

The tree itself was still as green as ever. It would look just at home bare out in the biting cold, or all dressed up beside the roaring hearth fire. Unchanged, steadfast, evergreen. Just the same in the cozy Hufflepuff common room filled with the aroma of baking bread and the elegant Slytherin one with its enchanting music, in the Black family manor or in the Tonks’s small Muggle cottage.

the summary of my peter drabble, Resolution:

Since he was eleven, Peter’s New Year’s Resolution had always been the same: this year I will be braver.

the last sentence to my RL fest remadora, the grace unasked for:
