I was reading how the gods have to suppress their emotions and feelings because it was dangerous for them to get carried away by them and it could have consequences for everyone, so Erlang doing that to his sister was more that he saw that she was being selfish and probably giving a warning to other gods not to do the same?
I mean, I definitely think that could be a part of it but personally, I think that Erlang believes that he was in the right because firsthand knew what it was like to be a demigod and he wouldn’t wish that upon anyone. Like he and Sanseng Mu saw their father die, their brother killed just for being born, their entire home destroyed, and the mother imprisoned for her crimes while they had to run away. They were on their own for so long and it wasn’t until they found an immortal master to train them did Erlang put all his energy into saving his mother and fighting heaven.
He knew firsthand what it means for an immortal to break the rules of heaven, and how it affects those around them. I don’t wanna put Yuanhua as the bad guy, and while she did deserve love, she did put her children in danger for the circumstances of their birth. Her kids are the innocents in this case who had to face punishment for a choice they didn’t have. I like to think that Erlang Shen was probably more likely traumatized by the whole experience, and instead of processing it in a healthy manner, he more internalized that what heaven did to them was needed in order for them to live. His family's death couldn't be just a tragedy for him else everything he has done up to that point would be in vain and the death of his family would just be a tragic death. So instead, he always tries to justify it in his mind to give reason to the tragedy and that it had to serve a purpose to make sense.
Erlang Shen sees his sister doing the same thing as the mother did and with another child who might go through the same process they witnessed. I think that he definitely thought of Sanseng Mu as selfish in the sense that she would put her own child through what they had to deal with. He had no hope she could get away with this considering heaven had already found out and he knew what was going to happen. And maybe he stepped in himself… just to prevent that. That he stepped in because he knew that someone had to put his sister under the mountain and if someone had to it could at least be him… and that he could at least save his brother-in-law and his nephew. They would have to be without a wife and mother, but he is losing her sister as well. He knows that Sanseng Mu can’t escape the punishment of heaven and that he is upset that she would put herself in the situation when they have both gone through the same things. But while Sanseng Mu was able to process what happened to them to find love and take risks to secure her happiness while Erlang Shen still holds some kind of resentment for his own creation. But he understands that the punishment should at least just be on his sister and not her family like their father and brother were.
Yuanhua and Sanseng Mu are goddesses and as such they have a responsibility to heaven, which they neglected when they abandoned their post to start families. These are meant to be romantic tragedy stories, and I think that they do that very nicely but also they are family tragedies as well. Erlang Shen continues the cycle of his family going through this kind of tragedy, but also the dangers that are brought from abandoning your duties also come into play. God’s are supposed to suppress the emotions because they shouldn’t make decisions out of anger or desire, but that they are to have rational and orderly choices when it comes to the heavens. But this also means that pleasure cannot take over gods because that creates bias as well. There was a lot of danger if gods let their desires rule them because they are so powerful and I believe that they are so strict because any repercussion or mistake they could make would affect the earth and therefore humans on a monumental level. Gods cannot afford to make mistakes when even spilling a cup in heaven could be a hurricane on earth.

ive been glancing over at the dw: origins news time to time and im glad they added more chars related to the new mc
yuanhua being a hua tuo has me hyped he's usually depicted old but in records or rotk it is mentioned that he looked freakishly younger than he is theorize that the other two are part of some taoist organization like how wolong was done
the inclusion of a shadow taoist organization has me hoping there's a supernatural element to the game that is influencing the era (maybe in relation to the mystics? it would be a fresh take to go the route of gods interfering with china's affairs like in the fengshen yangyi, but this time it's the 3K era)
#people who complain about the mc or not having a char creator can weep personally#dynasty warriors#also the inclusion of these npcs has me hope there are models of other chars in their youth during these periods#also there was no mention of sima yi in the game but i get it tho#he was not as relevant until later in wei's development#at least i have xun yu

Various Tutors
Guo Jia studied under four people in his youth, and each of them either taught him techniques for the various forms of magic he employs to this day, or taught him entire forms of magic altogether. These four people were Gan Ji, Zuo Ci, Hua Tuo, and a mysterious figure known only as the South Star.
Gan Ji, also known as Yu Ji, was a mystic who hailed from Shandong, and the first person Guo Jia formally studied under. Gan Ji had a reputation for all sorts of mystical acts, from fortune telling to the expert usage of curses, but he would impart upon Guo Jia, during their few months of tutelage under him, great wisdom concerning the use of elemental magic, and only just the surface layer of placing curses upon others. Guo Jia might have learned from Gan Ji the bulk of his Curse-Magic knowledge, had the two not fallen out after Guo Jia stole a precious artifact from them, but that area of magic and more would be taught to Guo Jia by the next person he happened to study under.
Zuo Ci, styled Yuanfang, was a legendary personage, perhaps one of China’s greatest sorcerers, who would take Guo Jia under his wing after the young Jia offered to them the item stolen from Gan Ji. Under Zuo Ci’s tutelage, Guo Jia would learn a bulk of the techniques and areas of magic he still employs to this day, though Zuo Ci’s teachings often had darker undertones, and served to bring out Guo Jia’s more devious and morally bankrupt tendencies.
Had Guo Jia remained under Zuo Ci’s wing for the rest of his younger years, it’s quite possible he would have ended up truly, and wholly, evil, but as fate would have it, Zuo Ci ended up betraying him, using Guo Jia’s powers to fuel an unholy ritual that almost killed him, almost. Had another one of Guo Jia’s future tutors not stepped in to save his life, Guo Jia may have met a truly premature end at the hands of Zuo Ci.
Hua Tuo, styled Yuanhua, was a sorcerer and renowned physician who saved Guo Jia’s life more times than the strategist can probably count. The first time Hua Tuo saved Guo Jia’s life, however, was when he happened upon the aforementioned ritual being performed by Guo Jia’s former tutor, Zuo Ci. After a brief, but cataclysmic battle where Zuo Ci was temporarily sealed away inside a tree, Hua Tuo freed Guo Jia from the ritual bindings placed upon them, and from that point he, he took the now teenaged Guo Jia into his care, becoming the only true beacon of light in the boys life.
From Hua Tuo, Guo Jia would go on to learn much, and not all of what he learned was strictly magic-related– Hua Tuo gave Guo Jia a proper education, clothed and fed him, taught him the basics of martial arts, the basics of medicine, helped reign in his darker tendencies (if you think Guo Jia is bad now you have no idea how screwed up he was at one point), and developed a medicine that, while it didn’t cure Guo Jia of his deathly condition, undoubtedly prolonged his life by a good decade or two longer. Hua Tuo became much more than just a tutor to Guo Jia, he practically became his father, the one he deserved, and without their help, its doubtful that he would have ever reached the heights he would go on to. Hua Tuo is also responsible for creating the trademark scepter Guo Jia often carries around, his Lordly Decorum.
The South Star, any other titles unknown, was a mystical figure who appeared to Guo Jia shortly after he departed from Hua Tuo’s residence to join the ranks of Yuan Shao. The South Star claimed to be a deity sent into the human realm on behalf of someone important, someone who purportedly cared about Guo Jia, though they would never name who that person was.
The South Star would transport Guo Jia to a mysterious realm where they went on to teach them about ritual magics for what seemed like years, and at the end of this prolonged tutoring, they even attempted a ritual on Guo Jia that was supposed to make him immortal, however something unfortunately went wrong, and Guo Jia later awoke outside of Yuan Shao’s headquarters, only a day after departing to the South Star’s mysterious realm. Guo Jia never saw the South Star again, though the teachings they left him with have proved valuable.

Fourteenth year of Chenghua 62 (part)
☆ Short excerpt from Fourteenth Year of Chenghua / The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty - Chapter 62 ☆ Summary: Tang Fan took off his pants and spread his legs for Sui Zhou. For medical reasons.
So I’ve been obsessed with this series lately and I’d just like to translate a few short parts from the novel. The relationship between Sui Zhou and Tan Fan was very subtle, up until chapter 62 where we received a big fan service scene...
Context: Tang Fan and Sui Zhou were traveling to Henan for a mission (completely different from the drama). Since they traveled by horse and Tang Fan has a weak civil minister body, his thighs got pretty roughed up on the journey and Sui Zhou is offering to apply medicine for him and change his bandages. This except mentions a character named Yin Yuanhua. He is another civil minister who’s tagging along for the mission and who doesn’t get along well with Tang Fan.
-=--=--=- -=--=--=-
“Come here.”
Tang Fan saw the items in his hands and couldn’t help but snicker: “You know I’ve applied the bandages enough already… Thanks to that, it’s practically all healed. There’s no need to keep bandaging anymore. It’ll only be a bother!”
Sui Zhou glared at him: “Come here right away. Shouldn’t you know best whether you’ve healed or not?”
Of course he hasn’t healed.
Tang da-ren could only drop his act and walk over slowly.
Sui Zhou: “Lay down, take off your pants and pull up your clothes.”
Tang Fan: “…”
That sentence. There wasn’t any way for it to not sound wrong. If there had been people passing by at this exact moment, 8 out of 10 would have misunderstood.
But in reality, it was completely not what it seemed.
Tang Fan’s physical build wasn’t any better than that of Yin Yuanhua’s. He had followed the more adept horse riders closely for countless days and it was unbearable, but riding in a carriage would have been worse. One could tell just by looking at Yin Yuanhua’s sad state. Riding a horse will only hurt the butt and both inner thighs but riding the carriage would have hurt the entire body. In that case, he’d choose the lesser pain. On this trip, Tang da-ren was the leader of the operation, so he’d rather grit his teeth and refused to become like Yin Yuanhua with subpar intelligence.
This was called dying with honor.
There was nothing to do about the butt. Since the skin there was thick and could withstand more abrasion, there was no need to worry about that point. The problem was the inner thighs that were constantly in friction with the horse, causing blisters to form and the skin to bleed.
He had wanted to apply medicine on his wounds but Tang Fan was too proud and couldn’t bring himself to mention it, up until Sui Zhou forcefully applied it for him.
Tang da-ren absolutely wanted to avoid having to change his bandages every night.
If he could choose, he’d much rather volunteer to go to the Luo river to face the river god than lay on the bed like this, with his legs spread out, no pants, with his clothes pulled up to have Sui Zhou change the bandages around his wounds.
They were both men. They had what the other had and they also lacked what the other lacked. But even so, Tang Fan didn’t feel right about this and kept starting intently at the ceiling like he could exit his mortal flesh, all in order to hide his embarrassment.
Sui Zhou seemed to be able to read his thoughts and thought it was funny. His expression showed no change as he continued to apply the bandages. He pretended to absentmindedly peek at the other’s loin, then casually said: “Your size isn’t bad at all.”
Even if Tang Fan was pretending to be dead, he was still paying attention and as soon as he heard those words, he couldn’t help his face immediately flaring up to his ears. He angrily said: “How dare you go against this imperial commissioner and make scrutinizing remarks? Do you not want to live anymore?”
Sui Zhou countered: “I’m also an imperial commissioner.”
Tang Fan: “You’re a deputy. I’m your superior. Stop talking nonsense and take off those pants too so this minister may judge you at once!”
Sui Zhou: “Do you really want to see?”
Tang Fan: “Of course I do!”
He thought that Sui Zhou would come up with an excuse to refuse, but he didn’t expect him to obediently stand up without saying anything and was about to untie his belt.
Tang Fan hastily said: “Come to think of it, I know yours is smaller than mine. It would do no good if your pride were to take a hit for this. All men care for their reputation, so I will dismiss this for you.”
Sui Zhou: “It’s fine, I don’t mind.”
Tang Fan: “…”
Sui Zhou really only wanted to tease Tang Fan a little. He never planned to go that far.
Seeing that Tang da-ren liked to have his ruffled feathers smoothed, he ceased the teasing and brought over a plate of desserts from the table. He picked up a piece and brought it to Tang da-ren’s mouth.
Under the dim candlelight, Tang Fan couldn’t see clearly see the shape of the jujube pastry, but took a bite anyways. Once in his mouth, the taste was sublime, pleasantly sour and reminiscent of the taste made by the cook back at home when he was a child.
He hasn’t had enough so he rolled out his tongue to pull the rest of the pastry into his mouth. Only, he wasn’t careful and grazed against Sui Zhou’s finger. The latter hesitated, then very quickly withdrew.

A new way to turn heat into useful energy
An international team of scientists has figured out how to capture heat and turn it into electricity.
The discovery, published last week in the journal Science Advances, could create more efficient energy generation from heat in things like car exhaust, interplanetary space probes and industrial processes.
"Because of this discovery, we should be able to make more electrical energy out of heat than we do today," said study co-author Joseph Heremans, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering and Ohio Eminent Scholar in Nanotechnology at The Ohio State University. "It's something that, until now, nobody thought was possible."
The discovery is based on tiny particles called paramagnons -- bits that are not quite magnets, but that carry some magnetic flux. This is important, because magnets, when heated, lose their magnetic force and become what is called paramagnetic. A flux of magnetism -- what scientists call "spins" -- creates a type of energy called magnon-drag thermoelectricity, something that, until this discovery, could not be used to collect energy at room temperature.
"The conventional wisdom was once that, if you have a paramagnet and you heat it up, nothing happens," Heremans said. "And we found that that is not true. What we found is a new way of designing thermoelectric semiconductors -- materials that convert heat to electricity. Conventional thermoelectrics that we've had over the last 20 years or so are too inefficient and give us too little energy, so they are not really in widespread use. This changes that understanding."
Magnets are a crucial part of collecting energy from heat: When one side of a magnet is heated, the other side -- the cold side -- gets more magnetic, producing spin, which pushes the electrons in the magnet and creates electricity.
The paradox, though, is that when magnets get heated up, they lose most of their magnetic properties, turning them into paramagnets -- "almost-but-not-quite magnets," Heremans calls them. That means that, until this discovery, nobody thought of using paramagnets to harvest heat because scientists thought paramagnets weren't capable of collecting energy.
What the research team found, though, is that the paramagnons push the electrons only for a billionth of a millionth of a second -- long enough to make paramagnets viable energy-harvesters.
The research team -- an international group of scientists from Ohio State, North Carolina State University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (all are equal authors on this journal article) -- started testing paramagnons to see if they could, under the right circumstances, produce the necessary spin.
What they found, Heremans said, is that paramagnons do, in fact, produce the kind of spin that pushes electrons.
And that, he said, could make it possible to collect energy.
Ohio State graduate student Yuanhua Zheng is also an author on this work. The research was conducted in partnership with additional researchers at the U.S. Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory and was supported by the National Science Foundation, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research and the U.S. Department of Energy.
