WIP Wednesday

Heyooooo thank you for the tag marvellous @heniareth and consequently delighting me with the goings-on of Astala my beloved!! And, like a seagull screaming for chip, I tag you back and @bumblerhizal , @siriskulksnerding , @ollifree for a no-pressure but please give snippets if available. 8) 8) 8)

(I may have been tagged in WIPs by others but my history isn’t loading atm so if you did please consider yourself tagged as well!!)

I’ve been futzing around with all 3 DA fics of late, and I just published the latest chapter of HWWT (posting soon to a dashboard near you but AO3 is here) but I have two snippets if that’s ok, one from The Minimum Wage, and the other from Your Personal Hero. I’m hoping that by posting snippets I’ll finally get the brainwave I need to wrap up the latest chapters of each... I’ll stick ‘em under the cut!

TMW:

Zevran woke up shivering. The fact that he had actually woken at all was motivation enough to get out of bed and begin the day.

Which was good, because the knocking at the door was getting impatient.

“Honestly,” came a familiar voice from the other side of the wood, “I don’t know why you’d pretend to be dead when you knew I was– oh, SHIT, the bastard’s died of the cold!” The door flexed and rattled as the Fire Warden proceeded to hastily bash it. 

He’d be on the hook for who-knew-how-much if this woman broke his bloody door. Zevran hurried over and released the lock, stepping aside just in time for the door to burst open and the Fire Warden to scream past him in a crouch-run. She, and her armfuls of chimney sweeping supplies, finally came to a halt when she was almost at the window.

Zevran raised an eyebrow. “Dear lady,” he purred, “had I known you were so keen to see me, I would have dressed a little better, maybe found some wine for us both.” 

The Fire Warden shot him a withering look. She straightened up and smoothed out her robes. “Might you have opened the door a little sooner, too?” she enquired pointedly. “I thought you’d turned up your bloody toes on me!”

YPH:

“You… I do not know what you want from me,” Zevran says quietly, stiffly. 

My heart sinks. “Nothing, sweetheart.”

Irritability flickers in his eyes. “... Do you wish me to love you? Is that it?” 

“No! Well, not unless you want to.”

“And after all this? Hmm? What then? What would you have me do, once I am registered and such?”

“Dunno. Not my choice.”

“Then whose is it?” he asks impatiently.

I give Zevran a meaningful look and gesture at him. It’s like he hasn’t been listening at all. 

“Yours!” I exclaim. “You choose what you want to do in life, not me. Maybe you’ll take up a trade, or spend your days in the library. Hell, you could get a one-way ticket to the other side of the world if you want. Carve out a life of fame and riches there, and the only time I’d see you is when you appear on the news.”

He snorts. “You really believe I could do any of that, do you?”

“Ugh. I knew it was too soon to tell you.” I groan and mash my hand into my face.

WIP Wednesday

Is it Wednesday? I dunno. Is it Wednesday somewhere? Could well be! Do I know what day it is? HAH!

I have a smallish snippet from my current headtrash modern AU Zevfic that I posted to ZevWarden Week all those moons ago. STILL working on it. We’re up to Zevran’s first birthday party. I never plug it here because again, it’s headtrash, but it’s this week’s work so here we go. Full fic is here, worth looking at if only to see @heniareth ‘s absolutely lush art gift to me that had me screaming for like. straight days I think. Thank you kindly for the tags @bumblerhizal-art and @siriskulksnerding. I’ll tag you back plus @heniareth @ollifree and whoever’s still reading this! Go nuts I want to see what you’ve done!!

"Okay, now remember," I say as we pull up in the driveway, "act surprised. You weren't expecting a thing, all right?"

Zevran gives me a gleaming smile and hands my fruit skewer back. "But of course," he purrs. "I had no idea."

We ascend the stairs to the front verandah and I unlock the door. When we step inside, the kitchen light comes on and Shadi bursts out of the shadows, going for broke on one of those obnoxious little party tooters and throwing confetti every-fucking-where.

Zevran, entirely in keeping with his word, clutches his flowers and Linda the flamingo to his chest and lets out a shrill, nerve-jangling scream. Shadi, endowed with the worst startle reflex in existence, shriek-blows and sends the tooter flying across the room and into the third tier of a gorgeous, yellow-frosted layer cake. And me, well. A stream of panicked obscenities floods from my mouth like a dam bursting its banks, and god help me, I dropped my fruit kebab.

Shadi gapes at the cake. I gape at Zevran. Zevran beams at the both of us, me especially, and shrugs. 

"I'm terribly sorry," he says innocently. "I got the shock of my life."

I shakily bend down and pick up my snack, now past the three-second rule for floor-touched goods. "Well," I say after a moment. "That's quite a set of pipes you've got there, Zevvo. Um… happy birthday."

Definitely sooo happy to have met you. Like a fanboying type happy, you were probably like his “if (p/h/n) was able to do it at such a young age, then so can I!”

After the training, he was dedicated to surpassing you (1) 

You were probably someone his father compared to him to while in UA

“Shoto, look at (p/h/n) already a pro hero and climbing the ranks, and they’re the same age as you!” - Endeavor

After you answered his question about becoming a hero without hero school, He often would ask you to give him hero tips as well.

He used to see you as just someone to surpass, but after you told him about the villain fights you’ve had, you had earned his respect. 

He also asks you to spar with him in your free time.

Tenya Iida

Apparently, his brother Tensei has had the opportunity to work with you before. 

He told Tenya about you and how it would have been a great opportunity for you and him to meet,

Lo and behold, you both have met

Tenya told you about his brother and you went on to talk about how his brother did mention Tenya to you while on the mission. 

Tenya and you get along quite well, you like telling him stories about your missions when you have time.

Eijiro Kirishima

When you introduced yourself as the same age as his class, he was star struck.

You’re sooo cool in his eyes!!

And so manly in his opinion

He wants to get to know you better honestly
