hi kai 😄 I really enjoy reading your fics. You're a wonderful writer. Your style is really so good I'm really intrigued by it. Are there any tips you can share with us to improve our writing? phrasing and vocabulary tips and such? I want to able to write as good as you someday 😭 thank you for inspiring us with your work. Hope you're having a great day ❤
helloooo hehe im honestly a little tongue tied on how to answer this because ive never really thought of my style as anything other than ordinary (mainly why my goal is to keep improving on it lmao) however, since you’ve asked me for some kind of help all i can really tell you is to examine the authors you love and try to emulate that but also adding your own originality to it. think about your fave author(s), what about their writing makes you want to read more from them?
for me, it’s their figure of speech. hence when i read a book and find phrases/figures of speech that i like, i tend to highlight it and then later on try to reimagine it but in a way that feels more like me. sometimes i like phrases because of how they invoke emotions within me, especially emotions ive never felt before. so i tend to analyze those phrases and twist them about (add more words, take out words, be more descriptive et cetera) and see which phrase that i make can create the same type of feeling i felt back then.
but the real help is to tell you to read more books by authors you enjoy and study them. you honestly do not need to know that much of vocabulary to the point of being pretentious but if you want to find out words that accurately and consicely describe the feelings you are trying to write, reading books is the first step. personally, i read books and write papers on them for class. so what I’ll tell you is to read a short story or novel, and then explain to yourself why you liked the chapters/descriptions/feelings as much as you did. once you’re able to explain the why, it becomes easier to emulate that into your own writing :)
fake it till you make it brah 😌 literally. there are days when i lie to myself that i am an accomplished aUtHoR and hence, my wRiTInG sTyLE is high class. but truthfully? i just write the way that’s easier for me. so, even though I’ve said to emulate writers you like, the important thing is to write in a way that feels natural to you. it’s the only way you can really improve on it anyway
