Spent #ThanksgivingBreak #DeerHunting at @ohstateparks @malabarfarmsp with @jacewaltersrecreation since we were lucky enough to get drawn in their lottery to help control the deer population on the property. Unfortunately neither of us came home with a deer during our 3.5 day trip, but we had a blast trying (this was also Jace's first time doing a #DeerCamp and that made the trip more memorable as well) . We did see a number of deer but the ones in range were always behind to much cover and the ones with open shots were always out of distance for a bow; had this of been a gun hunt it would of been a very different story. We will enter the lottery drawing next year again in hopes of getting another shot to hunt this incredible property. Jace has 2 more chances for a deer this year as he was drawn for @your_wild_ohio youth only deer gun hunts in December. Here's a story I did for Bluff Country News Group.. The MEA Weekend features a Youth Deer Hunt in southeast Minnesota. Weekends like these are a great opportunity to introduce youngsters to outdoor sports. Listen, participation numbers are down in all the outdoor sports, especially deer hunting. Take a look here and take a kid hunting.

Seen plenty of deer this last week and if it were a rifle hunt versus archery could of bagged a number of deer. Didn't come home with any, but seeing as many as we did made for a much more enjoyable hunt. Hopefully get drawn for this @ohiodnr again next year, the number of (large) bucks and deer in general scene was the most I've ever experienced. Don't want to say she hated her 1st hunting trip, but I can definitely say she didn't enjoy it. Was cold, non stop drizzle and very thick brush making it very hard to get around. Did kick up 3 deer for her but none came into her narrow field of view that she had. Will try again. But in hee defense, it it wasn't hee having this hunt through a lottery, I would NEVER have gone out in that crap to hunt!!!
