2020 Fanfic Year in Review

4. to fall in love
Top 5 by Kudos:
1. returning home.
2. dragonfly & to fall in love
3. Family Tradition
Top Fic overall:
Considering stats that would be “returning home.”
What’s your own favorite story of the year?
I love them all equally, but because it’s still fresh I am happy how Family Tradition turned out, from an artist POV. That was at least the one I had to do a minimum of corrections after I finished the first draft and given that the story gave me troubles, also from a narrative POV I liked how it turned out in the end.
Did you take any writing risks this year?
Yeah definitely. I did not know whether people would like a mermaid story and I was not familiar with the Regency era style before I started dragonfly. Also I drew a lot of characters that I am not used to draw and that I don’t enjoy drawing (I am looking at you, Viserys) and that’s always a risk because I know that when I am less passionate about a character it shows in the drawings as well.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year?
4584096834068 more collabs with @fandomsbyladymelodrama <3 Gurl you are my biggest motivation to draw these stories and Family Tradition was your fault because of all the Mormont spirals we went through in the weeks earlier. And I want to do even more graphic novels in 2021. One is in progress, one is already planned out, and I hope that I’ll improve my artist skills further and gain more confidence in what I am doing.
Most popular story of the year?
That would be returning home, although I got super sweet and awesome comments on dragonfly too <3
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
None, tbh. I was overwhelmed by the responses to all of those graphic novels!
Most fun story to write:
returning home. <3 Brought me through the main part of the first lockdown and PhD stress, and loved to create that story. It was also the story that was the easiest to construct from a narrative POV. And I still love fisherbear and MerDany and the Lannister Bros and Aqua-Jason-Drogo. <3
Most unintentionally telling story?
I am not sure what the question means, but I think I was surprised by how many people saw things and messages in dragonfly that I had not put in there on purpose but they made totally sense! Loved to see how e.g. @clarasimone and @terisrog explained my work to me and I was like “omg yeah actually that makes sense and wow I am surprised that I managed to put in there so much without even realising it” XD
Biggest disappointment?
None, I love all my babies and the feedback they got <3 Jorleesi fandom supports with the strength of 10 main fandoms!!!
Biggest surprise?
Seriously I was astonished how much I was able to draw in a short span of time. I think I drew dragonfly (69 pages) over the course of two weeks? And the first chapter of returning home took just two days. Then all the positive feeback surprised me and I was happy that I managed to tell a story just by pictures and not by words. Couldn’t believe when people asked me whether I could do hard copy prints of the stories too <3
Tagging @terisrog @clarasimone @toas-tea @raymondhope-writer and anyone else who wants to do this <3

Ahh perfect, just the way I imagined that scene would be😍 #yourock ✊🏻
Book moments I wish had been in the movies: 1/?
“This is just as well, Potter,’ said Snape coldly, ‘because you are neither special nor important, and it’s not up to you to find out what the Dark Lord is saying to his Death Eaters.’ ‘No - that’s your job, isn’t it?’ Harry shot at him. Harry had not meant to say it; it had burst out of him in temper. For a long moment they stared at each other, Harry convinced he had gone too far. But there was a curious, almost satisfied expression on Snape’s face when he answered. ‘Yes, Potter,’ he said, his eyes glinting, ‘That’s my job.” - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, chapter 26
