Hmmm well Iβd love to hear your thoughts on those topics but yes guess I was flirting π
oh and um in terms of recs, you should check out the album hiding places by Billy Woods or Brass by Moor Mother & Billy Woods.
If you want a song to check out first, Iβd suggest βthe blues remembers everything the country forgotβ
Will check out the album u mentioned as well
Thanks :)
I listened to the song but haven't listened to the full albums yet. Thanks for sending the specifics :)
I do have a tendency to be longwinded on my blog, although as a conversationalist I am much more balanced. That said, you have implied your interest.
My recent thoughts about love and friendship and loneliness have all settled around trying to be okay with what being single requires of someone in their midlate 20s. I don't really have a best friend these days--my friends are either married and justifiably focused on their partners, or we aren't necessarily close enough to be each other's person. So I have to be very creative with finding and treasuring love.
And it's just hard to go through this world without a person, whether they be a sibling, parent, lover, or friend. To know and be secure in the truth that you are their first call and they are yours. To feel love for and from someone every day, at any given moment. To know that support is there and reciprocal. Without ambient loving, if you will.
I've had friendships and relationships in the past where someone has been my first call, but I'm not theirs, and those are hard relationships to sustain for both people involved. I set myself up for loneliness and perceived rejection that wasn't anyone's fault but still hurt. I eventually realized it wasn't really fair to them or to me, and I made my peace and adjusted to a new normal.
So I'll say that I'm looking forward to finding my person, although I don't know what that relationship will look like yet. I'm okay with being alone. But I also remember a fragment of a poem: "I can't breathe around the hope lodged in my chest"

Best of 2023: My Top 10 Albums!
1. Zach Bryan - Zach Bryan
Just a killer collection of songs, including two of my favorites of the year, period: Smaller Acts & Hey Driver (Feat. The War and Treaty). I Remember Everything (Feat. Kacey Musgraves) is an absolute beast, as well.
2. Dispatch - Live from the Boston Woods
I don't usually include live albums, but I was at this show and it was my first time seeing Dispatch in over nine years and they were every bit as amazing as they ever were. Their opening with Passerby was so, so good. And, naturally, hearing their newer songs live for the first time was special, even if the old favorites still stole the show.
3. The Rolling Stones - Hackney DiamondsΒ Β
Damn... they still got it. What a rockin' album. Bite My Head Off is a blast!
4. The War and Treaty - Lover's GameΒ
I've been a fan since catching their set at the Newport Folk Festival some years back, but damn did they have an amazing 2023. Love this whole album, but mostly Dumb Luck, which is surely My Favorite Song of 2023... period.
5. boygenius - the recordΒ
The talent on display here stops me in my tracks every time. Favorite tracks are Satanist and Cool About It, but they're all damn good.
6. Foo FightersΒ - But Here We Are
I've always wanted more of Dave Grohl on the drums, but I never wanted it to happen this way. An emotionally devastating album that still rocks so f*cking hard. Taylor's out there somewhere with this on repeat.
7. Chris StapletonΒ - Higher
Can't wait to see more from this album live. Crosswind was fantastic, last summer, but White Horse and Think I'm In Love With You are going to tear the f*cking roof off the joint, and Mountains Of My Mind will most definitely be something truly special.
8. The Milk Carton Kids - I Only See the MoonΒ
The Milk Carton Kids out here destroying me with their harmonies, once again. Opening with All of the Time in the World to Kill just floored me.
9. K.Flay - MONOΒ
This is only so low because I haven't listened to it nearly enough, yet. Yes I'm Serious is so f*cking fantastic, though.
10. Zach Bryan - Boys of Faith
Only so low because it's an EP. Damn these songs are good. Especially that title track. Seriously, damn.
Note: I hardly listened to music this year, unless it was live. These are in Loose Preferential Order and were chosen out of an absurdly low and unknown number of albums I actually listened to in their entirety throughout 2023. I do most of my listening while writing, editing photos or working out, and once again all that shit was a scarcity in β23. Iβm also once again positive this is missing some albums Iβd go wild about, but I either havenβt heard them yet or wasnβt in the right mindset when I initially gave them a go. Oh well. Where it stands, these are the ones I found myself going back to when I did spend time on Spotify. And Iβll stand by each and every one of them.
I'm probably not posting My Top Photos of 2023, seeing as I photographed so few shows. But if you go check out my coverage of Lindsey Stirling's show last month, you'll immediately see My Favorite Photos of 2023. As always, Thank You for reading!
Happy New Year!!

I feel like showing off my vinyl collection, feel free to show me yours!
I'm an avid 70s/80s/90s collector, and deeply wish I could've been alive for all of that, most of my vinyls are 70s/80s, some older, some newer. Some are 100% vintage, others are newly made/released. My dad (who brought me up on literally everything 70s and 80s) got me a record player for Christmas and helped me start my collection, since then it's grown rapidly.
First I must show off my RDR2 vinyls, with Marty Robbins' "Gunfighter Ballads", his songs are perfect to listen to while playing RDR2, "Big Iron" being one of my favorites.
Dad got me all 3 of my Queen albums for Christmas, as he knows that Queen is perhaps my favorite band of all time, I've been trying to find vintage vinyls of their albums rather than the newly remade ones, haven't had much luck yet but we will get there. :)
Did I mention that my dad and I are diehard Gordon Lightfoot fans? "Summertime Dream" and "Sundown" are perhaps my favorite albums. Lightfoot's song "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" holds a special place in my heart. While the song is based off of a true story, about the tragic sinking of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald on Lake Superior, this song has a deeper connection with me. My dad, my Uncle Rob, and my Uncle Rodney, they loved this song so much, they would sit and listen to it on repeat for hours and hours mesmerized by the story that it told, along with Lightfoot's iconic voice, and the instruments itself. This was their group song essentially. Unfortunately, on July 25, 2019 (a year ago this coming Saturday), my Uncle Rodney lost his battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), he was only 49 years old, a year younger than my dad. It was something we would never expect happen to any of us, let alone him. Uncle Rodney went out of his way for everyone, he'd help everyone whenever he could and would never ask for or expect anything in return. He put his family first, he loved and cared for his kids the best he could, he worked his ass off hand crafting furniture out of cedar wood, and adding onto his home and designing it just the way a true country boy could ever want it, he was dedicated to his job, his family, and his friends. Hard to believe it will be a whole year this weekend, not a day goes by where I don't think about him, he was like a second dad to me, and I greatly wished that I'd had more time with him, especially hugs, he gave the best hugs.
However he'd want me to carry on and continue to be happy, and it was hard the first few months after he passed, I went into a depression spell, and starting coming out of it in February, and then I met the man who is now my boyfriend. I don't know if it was just coincidence, or if Uncle Rodney had a hand in all of it, but I shit you not, my boyfriend reminds me so much of him, including my dad. My family absolutely loves him and has taken him in already, and I've never been this happy. But alas, this isn't supposed to be my life's story, but some of these records mean so much to me, and Lightfoot's records will forever hold a special place in my heart, for the very sole reason you just read about.
Moving on! These are some great records I found on a clearance rack at a record store, all under $5 a piece! My grandpa is a huge John Denver fan, so he very much appreciates it when he stops by our house and hears me blasting that album from my room haha. My boyfriend loves The Oak Ridge Boys, and let me tell you, he can sing the oom poppa mow mows in the song "Elvira" perfectly, and I melt everytime haha. Rosanne Cash, her music gets played constantly whenever we are having a party at my Uncle Rob's house, so when I hear her voice, it makes me want to go down there and have a great time. The Outlaws, I only recently discovered them but I really enjoy this album in particular, "You Are the Show" is perhaps my favorite song on the album, I sing this one a lot no matter how terrible I may be at it, I can't help it lol.
Ah yes, more classics. My dad really enjoys when I decide to blast my CCR album (a birthday present from my boyfriend). "Fortunate Son" is probably my dad's favorite CCR song, and it is definitely his theme song. Boston and Molly Hatchet are two of my other favorites for sure, including Chicago, it has been awhile since I listened to them, but they sure are fun.
Oh these three here I love talking about. I mean, who doesn't love Footloose and Dirty Dancing? The Footloose record is vintage, the Dirty Dancing one is a newly released version, but I ended up buying it anyways as the record itself is that purple color of awesomeness. The Quiet Riot one I found at an antique store, my favorite album of theirs, and because it's a picture vinyl, I had to have it. It looks kickass watching it on the record player.
Any Fleetwood Mac fans? My witchy sisters, this is our music. I can actually sing Stevie Nicks pretty decently, my boyfriend absolutely loves it when I do. "Tango in the Night" is my favorite Fleetwood Mac album, I listen to this record religiously. Once I listened to it on repeat for about 3 days straight, and my dad eventually had to tell me to switch to a different record because he was ready to hear some other great music π The song "Twisted" which Stevie sang with Lindsey Buckingham, was part of the 1996 movie "Twister" with Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt. My favorite movie, and my favorite Stevie Nicks song, might I also mention that I'm a weather nut and also studying for a degree in meteorology? Yeah, I also chase tornadoes, hence why "Twister" is my favorite movie.
And last but not least, these two little guys. TiΓ«sto is perhaps my favorite DJ of all time, his classic hits and even the new ones, always give me such a vibe that is so enjoyable. My favorite mix of his? "Silence" by Delerium with Sarah Maclachlan, this was one of TiΓ«sto's "In Search of Sunrise" mixes, and I still get absolute chills hearing it.
Oh yes, I forgot to add, a bunch of the vintage vinyls I bought, I got at Guestroom Records in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma while I was there back in May. They have a giant clearance section with records under $5, and of course they have all the newly released music, and even full collection sets. My favorite part? They also have a beautiful kitty cat that lives at the store and he/she is such a lovely kitty. So if you're in OKC and wanna buy some vinyls? This is your place.
So that's all of my vinyls I have so far! I hope you enjoyed seeing my collection, and reading about why they mean so much to me, I hope I didn't bore you too much with them haha. Again, feel free to show me some of yours! Tell me why they mean so much to you! :)

BTS Live Interview KBS News9 2020.09.10
π¨ We're so happy to have completed our debut stage. We'll continue to do our best as BTS.
π₯ Bangtan! Thank you! We'll do our best!
π± It's good to dream big, right? I'd like to be No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. I'd also like to be No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
π£ The Billboard music award goes to... BTS!
(No. 1 on the Billboard Album Chart in 2018)
(No. 1 on the Billboard Single Chart in 2020)
(No. 1 for two weeks in a row in 2020)
π₯ We never expected it but we're so happy to hear that we made No. 1 on the Hot 100. We're all in awe. It's hard to express it in words.
πΊ KBS News9
πΉ Hello. I'm BTS' worldwide handsome, Jin.
π± Hello, I'm BTS Suga.
π₯ Hello, I'm BTS Jimin.
π¨ Hello, I'm BTS RM. Nice to meet you.
πΏ Hello! I'm your hope, J-Hope.
π― Hello... Hello, I'm your hope, V.
π° Hello, I'm Jungkook.
π©π»βπΌ I'm sure you were here for "Music Bank," but how do you feel being in the newsroom?
πΏ It's really cool here.
πΉ It's really solemn here. It has a serious vibe.
π± It's our first time in the newsroom.
π¨ I think this is the coolest place in KBS.
πΏ To be honest, it's quite fascinating.
π©π»βπΌ Jimin, does it feel real yet?
π₯ Oh, it doesn't feel real. When something good like this happens, we should be meeting with the fans in person and hug, cry, and celebrate together. It's a shame because of the current situation. But it's an honor to be here on KBS. I hope the fans will be happy.
π©π»βπΌ It's really difficult for a non-English speaking artist to enter the Hot 100, right?
π₯ That's right.
π©π»βπΌ Why do you think "Dynamite" was so successful? How was it able to have a universal appeal?
π± Well, the situation isn't good in Korea and overseas, right? So when we first came up with this song, we wanted to do what we're good at, what we were able to do, in order to provide strength for our fans. That was our biggest motivation. And fortunately, our fans really loved the song, which is what brought this amazing result. That's what I believe.
π©π»βπΌ It's a really exciting and funky disco track. Did you choose that genre on purpose because things are so tough right now?
π¨ In these tough times... When you're feeling down and depressed, there are many ways to relieve that, right? We chose to go with our field of expertise. It's a disco-pop that everyone's familiar with. We wanted it to just be cheery. And we felt like we needed something that was hopeful. That's why we chose this genre.
π©π»βπΌ Do you feel like you're world stars now? V, how do you feel?
π― First of all... It does feel more real than before. Friends of our families say that they're part of ARMY. And even many of our friends have become ARMY. We're really encouraged every time we hear that.
πΏ So many people cheered loudly for us when we entered the newsroom.
π¨ They congratulated us.
πΏ I think that makes us realize our popularity a little.
π― It makes us wonder how we are this popular.
π± It wasn't like this at "Music Bank."
π©π»βπΌ From what I know, you had hard times in the beginning. I heard there were times when you'd go hungry.
πΉ Yes. Even for us... We used to catch fruit flies with a vacuum cleaner. We'd have rotten bananas that attracted lots of fruit flies. There were times we survived on chicken breasts. It's a relief that things worked out for us.
π©π»βπΌ What has changed between then and now?
π― Our lunch boxes...
πΉ Back then, when we weren't earning much, there was a limit to what we could eat. But now we can eat whatever we want. We can have two slices of steak if we want. That's where we're at.
π₯ Our minds... I think we have more peace of mind. We felt rushed back then and felt we needed tenacity. But now, we can relax more.
π©π»βπΌ Then what hasn't changed between then and now? Something you've kept all this time. Jungkook, what do you think?
π° We've changed a lot in terms of our appearances and personalities. But the one thing that hasn't changed is our love for the fans and our attitude towards music. I think that still remains true.
π©π»βπΌ I'd say your teamwork hasn't changed either. This year is the 7th year for the 7 of you. Your album has "7" in the title as well. This would be impossible without teamwork.
π©π»βπΌ Do you have a secret to your successful teamwork? Does the eldest keep everyone in line?
π± No, not at all.
π©π»βπΌ Or perhaps the leader?
π¨ I think we all just really get along. I think that's how we maintain our positive teamwork. And if anything comes up, we always gather and have meetings. We're always trying to gather ideas for a positive outcome. I think that's why...
πΏ I think we respect each other and are considerate of each other. I think that's how we were able to get to this point.
π¨ I mention this comparison often. I believe we're all in the same boat facing different directions. The 7 of us grew up in different environments and we live life enjoying different things. It's impossible to be completely alike. But the fact that we're in the same boat. If we have that clearly in mind... And also, if we're too close, that can cause problems. So at times, we're like family and other times, we're like partners. We maintain an appropriate distance from each other to respect one another. I'd say that's the secret to our teamwork.
π©π»βπΌ J-Hope, you mentioned May 18, the Gwangju Uprising in your lyrics. Suga, you've incorporated daechwita and gukak in your music too. Do those ideas come from your discussions? From sharing your feelings and thoughts?
πΏ That's right. Being able to tell the stories that we want to through music is in itself such a great honor as artists. In my case, I felt it was a part of history that we should never forget. And I thought it was good to express that through my music. Daechwita!
π©π»βπΌ I'm sure all of your songs are precious. But is there a song that you particularly love? In particular?
π± "Dynamite."
π¨ "Dynamite"!
πΏ "Dynamite."
πΉ For me, it's "I NEED U." That's the first song that got us 1st place.
π©π»βπΌ In western pop culture, it has been difficult for Asian artists to be in the spotlight. It was hard to be mainstream. But now you're right in the center and the entire world relates to you. What's your secret?
π¨ To be honest, I don't know if we're there yet. However, The Billboard Hot 100 is very symbolic. And being No. 1 for two weeks in a row is something we never expected. So I personally think... First off, the song "Dynamite" was probably more approachable because it broke down the language barrier. And as mentioned earlier, disco-pop is a familiar genre. Even for the older generation. So it's easy to listen to and at this point in time, it provides hope. It provides comfort through being simple and upbeat. I believe these factors played a big part. And more than anything, I'd say people are most curious about this. It's how we got this far. They ask us that a lot and are curious about it. But what I want to say is that we've been on the Billboard Charts since 2015. And I think we've been achieving milestones since. It's not like we had a set strategy from back then. We didn't calculate how to climb up the Billboard Charts. We were able to overcome the language barrier and other national and ethnic boundaries through the truths that we conveyed. That's what reached the many people and turned them into our fans. These things all came together and the resulting explosion was "Dynamite."
π©π»βπΌ Don't you have ARMY to thank as well, Jimin?
π₯ We have so much to thank them for. Since the early days, I think we had a strong bond with the fans. Even when our team was really small, it's the same in our music and performances, I think it always felt like we were together. Even in this moment, we're so thankful. We want to quickly meet them and thank them in person.
π©π»βπΌ I really studied a lot so I wouldn't get told off by ARMY. I noticed you always thank the fans whenever you receive an award. Just as Jimin said, you seem so close with the fans. Where does that tight relationship come from? Would you like to comment on that, V? That tight bond with ARMY.
π― First of all, it's because they were with us since the difficult times. That'd be the foremost reason. Also, our sad times, happy times, the times we were congratulated, everything was shared with ARMY. So the people that know us best are by far always ARMY.
π©π»βπΌ To all the youths around the world that have to live with COVID-19. Is there a unique BTS challenge you can propose? (Jung Eungyeong) Who would like to answer that?
π₯ V? Since he has unique ideas.
π¨ Since you're so creative.
π― This is my personal opinion. Right now, there are so many things we can't do because of COVID-19. So once COVID-19 passes... Once it's completely over... Then what is... What is the very first thing you want to do? The thing you want to do the most. You could write that down or express it in some way. Perhaps draw it. That would be my challenge suggestion.
πΏ It's a dream challenge.
π° A dream challenge.
π― Dream challenge.
π©π»βπΌ We're all spending so much time at home because of COVID-19. You guys are doing a lot of activities online. J-Hope, you made beaded wristbands. You made gimbap too. Is there anything else you'd like to try?
πΏ Yes, I did do many things, right? Well, I don't know. I'd like to do things that I haven't tried yet. I'm not very good with my hands. So I'd like to make a lot of things. For example, carving wood and making something pretty. I'd like to try a lot of those things. And share them with the fans.
π©π»βπΌ I'm sure you have a lot more personal time now. I hear RM has started to work out. Jungkook is learning the guitar and Suga's learning to draw. What else are you guys doing?
π± After things became like this, we shared a lot of our daily lives through various platforms. So that's why we have new hobbies. In this day and age, I'd like to share and show more. I started learning the guitar recently too.
π° He's practicing really hard right now.
π± I really am. I'd like to continue sharing things like that.
π₯ We're working on our next album as well.
π©π»βπΌ I hear you have a new album coming soon. Can you briefly tell us what it'll be like?
π₯ Actually... It's hard to say what the album will contain as of now. There are songs as good as "Dynamite" and some even better, so please look forward to it.
π¨ We already love it.
π₯ Also... It's great. After topping the Billboard Charts with "Dynamite," I thought that it would be awesome if the entire album could enter the Hot 100 π
π± It's good to dream big.
π₯ It's always good to dream big. So I imagine that at times.
π° Our level of participation for this album is extremely high for each of our members.
π©π»βπΌ Each of your albums have a unique message. Finding yourself, for example. What do you think the message will be for this album?
π₯ I think it'll contain a variety of messages. It's like... The things we feel whether that be sadness or joy. I think we added those raw emotions. I'll end the spoilers there.
π¨ Right now... It's like... BTS is just 7 young guys. Of course, we don't live your average normal life. But the sentiment we're feeling right now... And what we dare to believe that people need right now. We added songs that will satisfy that. So I just hope many people will listen to them. That's how I feel.
π©π»βπΌ I have to ask Suga about your next objective. Everything Suga has said has come true. Is your next goal the Grammys?
π± Well, first off... Yes... I've been lucky, haven't I? I'd personally like to be nominated. Once you're nominated, you can perform a song at the Grammys. And so after we perform at the Grammys, if possible, It's only our wishful thinking but... I don't know if I can say this. But if we can win a Grammy... That would be so...
π¨ Of course, it's not up to us.
π± Yes, of course. But we can dream, right? It's okay for us to dream, right? That's our wish.
π©π»βπΌ Please agree to be back if you win.
π₯ Oh, of course!
π¨ It'd be an honor to be back here.
π©π»βπΌ Then to end this interview, for the people that are struggling because of COVID-19. Whether that be ARMY or viewers all over the world. Could you say a word for them?
π° We mentioned the challenge earlier. I'm sure many people are going through hard times right now. It was really tough for us too. We had so many things scheduled but we couldn't do any of them. That's how serious it is right now. Many people are putting in the effort. And we're doing the best we can too. I hope you can find something within. I hope you find that silver lining so that you can find some kind of joy in this dark times. It's tough but I hope you fight on.
π¨ I have a heavy heart. I can't dare say that I understand those struggling right now. It's difficult for me to say that. To tell you about "Dynamite" from our circumstances, it would not have been born without COVID-19. So, I believe... I believe that with the bad, there's always the good. Though that could take a long time. At night, the shadows are long but the sun will surely rise. I know it's tough for so many people. But we'll do our very best so please stay hopeful. And I wish you all stay healthy. Thank you.
π₯ We'll shout it out! 2, 3. Let's go!
