It wasn't an uncommon sight for him to stumble across. Were it not for the color in her cheeks, Archer could've assumed the woman was dead before checking her breathing.

She overworked herself. Stretched too thin, she'd finally collapsed from exhaustion. Tucked in amongst the copious amounts of pillows and blankets she seemed to have accumulated over the years. One of her favorite comforts he'd noticed.

But it'd been going on fourteen hours now that she'd been sleeping. He'd been a bit worried for her. What if she was dehydrating? Glucose drops could be deadly out here! So gently he'd put a hand on her shoulder and shaken her slightly. Bidding her gently to awaken. Tea? Why was he asking about tea?

She's quicker than one would think. One hand bracing his shoulder, the other grabbing his wrist and pulling him down onto the bed. While strength wasn't her strong suit, she seemed to take him off guard enough to drag him into an embrace.

Amongst the nest of blankets, she buries her nose into his clothes and sighs a breath of content.

"Stay," She murmurs into his sweater.

babysitter!reader is so delicious, and God, I kind of love how complicated the situation could get with Siri involved. Because even if eventually you maybe pick up on a red flag or two from Blake, or even just don't feel ready to have kids / a serious relationship yet and feel uncomfortable once he voices those desires for you..... Are you just gonna stop taking care of Siri? You don't want to get him caught in the crossfire: you know he won't understand why you left, just that you did. And he shouldn't be punished for something that's not at all his fault. God, the ANGST potential.

babysitter!reader and blake goes hard--you'd feel so bad because blake has such a hard time getting sitters, whether it's expenses or scheduling or trust, or for the fact that most potential babysitters hesitate at the idea of watching a child with special needs. and siri just adores you right off the bat, you're an immediate friend to him instead of a caretaker, so if you ever thought to leave you know you'd be leaving that poor kid with so much sadness and hurt in his heart.

it's not his fault his daddy is so enamoured with you, and that he offers you a drink every time he comes home from work despite the fact that you always politely decline. or that he's constantly offering to give you rides home, drop you off places, even when you're not babysitting. when you come to the diner he works at he gives you your meals for free, and when he comes out to chat at your table while it's slow and people get the impression he's your boyfriend, he doesn't correct them. the one time he came home to find siri had dropped his dinner all over you, and you graciously accepted his offer of a shower, he could barely keep the urge to barge in at bay when he imagined you all sudsy and wet, soaping yourself down with those beautiful hands.

he kind of goes crazy for you. you wiggle into his brain and won't leave, he can't help imagining you with a little baby of your own to give siri someone to play with. after all, even though the last thing he needs for his financial stability is to support another kid, it would only take one time to get with you to lock you down to stay with him. just one torn condom, one drunken fling, and he'd have something you can share forever. how can he give up that opportunity once he thinks of it?

and......now im thinkin....if you have a deadbeat boyfriend.....god help you. blake doesn't consider himself a traditional man by any means, he doesn't want a partner who's totally dumb and submissive to whatever he wants just cause he's a man. he likes it when you resist him a little, actually. but seeing you with some cheap, ugly, unkempt asshole will absolutely have him playing the father figure card when he gets the chance.

"does he treat you well? does he cook? can he clean? what do you mean he doesn't work? how is he gonna take care of you? what, he expects to live off you like a fucking leech?" blake has plenty of opinions and will struggle to keep them to himself. especially if there's an age gap and you're younger than him. he wouldn't have to ban your boyfriend from his home because you're too smart for that, you would never bring a stranger to meet siri in his own sanctuary, which is one of a thousand reasons why he loves you so much--he can trust you. but when your boyfriend picks you up and drops you off blake is hardcore glaring at him from the front lobby where he walked you down to hold open the door. and if you have a fight over text and he refuses to pick you up, telling you you're gonna have to walk, blake drives you with a death grip on the steering wheel as he forces a smile and pretends he's not seething at the audacity of such a pathetic man.

but despite hating your boyfriend with a violent passion, blake listens to you complain and will offer you reassurance, even though the mere mention of his name has him gritting his teeth. and when he has opportunities to turn you against him, he takes them. he'll slowly fuel your grievances until your partner gets heated with you, and tells you that your employer and friend is manipulating you, and the worst part will be that he's right. but you'll be so blinded by blake's words that you'll finally find the courage to break up with that deadbeat you called your love. and what better person to crawl back to for reassurance than blake, who will comfort and cuddle and fuck you until you can't think of that asshole for another second?

Hello, absolutely delighted you asked this because I have many, many thought. Likely too many because all I am is consumed with thoughts about him and Theo <3 Now for the essay :P

So, I have it that he shaves his head. Normally has a buzz cut and cuts it when it's like a cm/half an inch. It's naturally platinum blonde.

I touched on this topic a bit in Chapter 1 of this fic, The Book of Love; but he shaves his hair to look less like his father. As you have seen from my fics they had an awful relationship and his father's actions are a large part of who he is, such as the reason he joined the Thalmor.

Even when things are better and life is in a very different place he still doesn't ever grow it out again. It's a mix of he's seen himself this way for so long, Theodora has commented that although she is normally more attracted to men with long hair; it makes him look handsome and serious <3 as well as this:

And as I am all about parallels, their eldest Arthano who looks the most like Ondolemar, also shaves his head. Theodora finds him one day when he's 6-7 with Ondolemar's shaving blade and is like "What are you doing with that???" and he's like "I want to look like Ata." which instantly melts her heart and she shaves it for him and then tells him to go tell his father that. This is a big healing moment for him because the fact he son wants to look like him means he's doing something right; helps fix his own paternal wound <3

OK SO Our Life is a free visual novel dating sim on Steam. There's DLCs but they're cheap and not obligatory to enjoy the game.

You're 8. You live near the beach with your moms and your older sister. There's no other kid around cause all the other people living there are old. And then one day a dad moves in in the house accross the street with his kid that's the same age as you. And the dad is like "I'll give you 10 bucks to be friends with my son". And without knowing it you end up inseparable with the boy as you grow up with him.

I absolutely love Our Life because it's one of the few dating sims where you can customize ever single aspect about yourself. Appearance? Check. Sexuality and gender? Check. Whether you know how to dance or like mayonnaise? Check. You don't want to romance him and just be his friend? Check.

It's really a cute childhood friends to lovers that made me cry more than once. The visuals and music are so pretty and it's so so heartwarming. It also really change from otome games where it's just drama after drama. This story is believable and you can really lose yourself in it, and not play as just some chick that's put into wacky situations. Just be yourself and kiss your cute neighbor that's also your best friend who loves you so so so much.

Blitz uses the same, breezy tone that he does with Loona - the kind that acknowledges, teases, and bounces off like water, a more unobtrusive humor that's meant to take the pressure off. He doesn't think it's a skill he's necessarily perfected, but he has had practice over the years, and he knows to turn his face away before his amused grin turns realer, more affectionate.

He doesn't really know Octavia, beyond the few fairly terrible impressions he's made on her, and he doesn't know if he'll ever earn the privilege to know her better. But he's realized, recently and in full force, that he'd like to. Without those barriers erected - the years and bricks of self loathing, self destruction, and simple deflection - that raw and deep longing for family has started to raise its head from the ashes he'd thought he'd buried it in.

But he's not stupid; if the closest he gets is tolerated - if he doesn't ruin her relationship with Stolas or with Loona - then Blitz can more than live with that.

Still, there's something fundamentally strange about being in Stolas' kitchen, in the light of morning, while Octavia sits at the table and Stolas himself is still confined to bed rest. The person who absolutely does not fit in this picture is himself - so, of course, he has to pretend that much harder that this is totally fine. It's totally fine that he has breakfast going on the stove top, it's totally fine that he spends half the time hopping up and down off chairs and counters because everything in this kitchen is royal owl sized.

What actually settles him is the fact that at least he can help in some tangible way. It's not much at all in the grand scheme of things, but even if it's just food, just little things around the house - the chance to keep an eye on the house and its occupants, putting that vigilance to work - it's something.

Yes, totally. Rellik is a super homebody and Things last longer than People and he likes stuff. He's accrued a lot of money from being around so long and prefers to have a cozy home base to operate out of (and keep his books and other personal affects).

Though, considering how much trouble vampires can get into... the question is if his current residence is OK or some other shenanigans have occurred. What I'm saying is that Rellik somehow having lost his house and having to bomb in on abandoned places would be both hilarious and he would HATE that, talk about maximum grumpy. He'd prefer most to have a big gothic house on a hill to be Mr Spooky out of, but with the housing market how it is these days ://///

Hi! Could I ask what Chess is about? Your posts on it have caught my interest.

GOOD QUESTION!!! apologies in advance this is going to be a bit of a long answer

so back during the cold war, chess competitions ended up being, like, a Big Thing. it was one of the ways the ussr liked to prove their intellectual superiority, so during the 70s & 80s most of the world champions and challengers were russian. this meant that whenever one of the players was american (specifically bobby fischer) the competitions turned into really big media events, since it's an american vs. a russian and whoaaa we need to prove our country is better at chess so we can prove communism sucks or something

anyway, tim rice (most well-known for working with alw on jesus christ superstar & evita) saw these competitions and went, "hey, that'd be a kickass musical." so he teamed up with the music-writing duo from ABBA to write it.

the resulting musical was chess, which is about. Um. Well. it's about chess. but it's also about the cold war and politics and commercialism and national identity and divorce. (the divorce part is important i truly can't stress enough how much divorce is in this musical)

our... protagonist? one of our main characters is freddie trumper, a communism-hating american and (usually) the current world chess champion. he sucks. i love him dearly but he sucks. his second is florence vassy, a hungarian displaced from her home as a young child due to the 1956 invasion of budapest. she is only slightly more normal than freddie.

freddie's opponent is the russian player anatoly sergievsky, who also sucks, but in a different and more subtle way. he has a wife named svetlana who is possibly the only guiltless character in this show.

the drama at the world chess championship is only upped when anatoly and florence fall in love and florence helps anatoly defect from the ussr to england. freddie gets really upset about this and fires/breaks up (it's ambiguous as to if they're romantically involved or not) with florence. after this anatoly is (usually) the new world chess champion, although sometimes it's still freddie and they're just taking a break before the match finishes.

the exact plot of act ii varies a lot depending on which script is being used, but in very general terms: anatoly is playing a chess match. he wants to win and become/remain world champion. his soviet team wants him to lose and come back to russia. various espionage plots ensue to incentivize anatoly to return home. in the end, he wins the match (usually. sometimes he loses) but returns home anyway, leaving florence behind. no one is happy. there's like no good ending here.

one of the interesting things about chess is that there are like a hundred different versions of it. there's two main scripts (london and broadway) but there's tons of variation even within the two scripts, and some that combine elements of both (like sydney and danny "the bane of my existence" strong's book). and there's some pretty significant changes from script to script, right down to who wins the final chess game. it's really interesting.

if you want me to elaborate/clarify any part of this i'm more than happy to do so, but i hope this offers some insight as to what chess is about?? it's a terrible show and also my current favorite musical. hope this helps 👍

Adam Warlock: The OTP, my ride or die, the 'I-have-a-65-song-playlist-and-show-no-signs-of-stopping' ship. I could wax poetic about them for hours. It's something about the...enemies to allies to friends to married couple transitions. Gamora comes from a rough upbringing and she finds solace with Adam because he accepts both her bad sides and her good sides and doesn't condemn her. He holds fast to his values, and I really believe that's something Gamora learned from him. On the flip side, while Gamora struggles with her emotions, she still keenly feels them and expresses them, which Adam finds so hard to do. He's always struggled with 'being human', more or less, and accepting his emotions. He just feels them so strongly that he doesn't know what to do, and Gamora is there to pull him back, to understand him, to show him how he can, at the very least, process his emotions. In later comics, Adam becomes very sarcastic and biting and it reminds me of Gamora. IMO they uniquely fit each other in a lot of ways, and at the end of the day they really want the same thing: somewhere to belong.

Angela: I love LOVE how instantly these two connect without words. It's really amazing to them vibe together. I see them as a very, ass kicking kinda pair, and dealing with cosmic bullshit and then finding peace together at the end of the day. Maybe on and off, maybe a bit poly with Sera.

Tony Stark: I think this one is mildly self indulgent, but hey they did have sex once. However, I do think they have the chance at a lot of depth if written right. Gamora has dealt with some alcoholism before, from Pip, and how he treats himself, so I don't see her being a stranger to it with Tony (though I get that in later comics he seems to have it more under control, but she'd understand about being mindful of it). They also both intensely care about others, and I think Tony is in a position to understand her (in general...like, her personality, why she is like that, being adopted, dad troubles, doing better, etc.). Also, tbh, I just enjoy the whole human/alien aspect of the ship. I think, given the right conditions, Gamora could see Earth as her home

Happiness :) Yeah, I know, cheesy lol but at the end of the day, I just want Gam to be happy. I've been lucky to get a lot of fun pairings for her and I love them all so much, they make her so happy, and that's all I want for her

So like what are the biggest differences Ava and Mattias bring to the shadowhunter group in COB! (Like you said they're better at math and Mattias seems to be really big into video games n such!) Like it seems Mundane folk and Shadowhunters seem to have different views n such. Just how different is it being born mundane vs into shadowhunter stuff and how does that benefit the group! (if this isn't too spoilery to answer of course!)

YEAH i can answer this! This mostly dives more into the lore of shadowhunters more than anything so sorry if it sounds like a big lore drop.

This...answer really got away from me and turned into a big old info dump so i am. so sososo sorry. it's all below the cut

Being born "mundane" is basically being born a regular old human being like you and me in the modern age. Mundane is simply the term the shadow world uses when referring to normal folk. Generally Mundanes cannot see magical creatures like shadowhunters, the fae, werewolves, vampires, etc because of the glamours that they have, but (as far as I remember) sometimes humans can randomly just be born with The Sight (aka the ability to see past these glamours and see magical creatures). Ava and Mattias are both cases of this. Mattias saw fae and werewolves outside his house when he was a young child, and his mother, who had just went through a very messy divorce around him, assumed it was his child's brain way of coping with the experience by allowing his imagination to go wild and indulged in it. Ava on the other hand did not notice her Sight until she was a teenager, when she and her friend group got attacked by a group of vampires and was the only one who noticed what they were (all her friends had said that they were jumped by a bunch of weird drunk dumbasses). Shadowhunter picked up on both of these cases of mundanes seeing things no one else did, and got a hold of them to take them to the academy (lore wise it's because shadowhunters got FUCKED over during the mortal instruments and lost a shittt ton of people because of 2 back to back wars and they need to replenish their numbers).

Also since the shadowhunters don't want normal mundanes to learn about the shadow world, they told the Mattias and Ava's parents that they were going off to an academy of some kind (just not the kind for killing demons)

Mattias' mom basically believes he got picked up by military recruiters and is currently doing work locally, while Ava's parents were told she was going to an art academy, and they think she's working as a freelance artist somewhere.

As well, being born "mundane" means that they aren't able to wear runes which are a shadowhunters greatest strength because it would literally kill them because they don't have angelic blood like shadowhunters do (which a human CAN become a shadowhunter by way of ascension, where they drink from this thing called the mortal cup and if they survive the process they are a full shadowhunter. which is what mattias and ava did). but also I don't draw the runes on them very often because haha i'm making a comic and i'm not drawing these complicated ass runes every single panel (if you want an example)

SO BASICALLY mundane folk like Mattias and Ava have experience in the Normal Real World and got a Normal Real World Education while people like Theron, Nerissa, and Dominic dooooo not. There are some benefits to this (mostly to have an outside perspective on things) but most of the reason Mundanes are brought into shadowhunter society is simply for necessity.

Being born a shadowhunter is like. an entire different culture than being born a mundane. If I remember right, shadowhunter children receive their first runes at around the age of 10, and begin training from there on. They also learn to draw all of the different runes fast and effectively, learn all major kinds of demons, learns several different demon languages, and learn defenses for taking on different kinds of downworlders. They do have time for hobbies like painting and writing, but the main drive in every shadowhunters life is their ability to kill demons. Dominic was given more leeway because he was picked up by a shadowhunter at a young age but was born mundane. Cicero was going to give him the option of joining regular society, but Dominic really wanted to be a cool demon hunter like his dad. But Theron and Nerissa weren't really given an option. this was what they were told to do and they did it.

Shadowhunter society is also often behind the times in regards to regular society (or at least my personal headcanon they are that way). Since they rarely interact with mundane or mundane goings on, they don't notice the progressive changes made, instead keeping to tradition. One of the shadowhunters main phrases is "the law is hard but it is the law" whenever someone questions a rule put into place. Which is why Theron and dominic (and nerissa. we'll get to hers in comic eventually i promise) have such internalized homophobia, while Mattias and Ava do not. That's not to say shadowhunters haven't made progress (in the books Alec Lightwood just got gay married to his warlock husband magnus bane and also he's the consul which is basically top dog of all shadowhunters), but I think they're a lot slower, if that makes sense.

Males in his age group often look at him with such disdain, at this point it honestly does not sting him as much as it used to. These days he simply wore their expectations of him like a mask, people left him alone and with that, he was left to do whatever he wanted.

There will always be the rare occasion when someone else sees it as just an act and treats Yusuke rather genuinely, pretty much like the ‘Joestar’ before him. Hearing him say these things was nice but he’s still far from accepting things like that without putting up much emotional resistance. Crap, Yusuke also rubs a hand along the back of his neck, was he sheepish now? Was he taken aback by the kindness of a stranger?

Those words held a heavy weight to them. Jotaro had been around for far too long to know when someone wanted to show kindness with hidden intentions. The Joestar pondered his own words, what was appropriate for situations such as this.

Damn. He really was shit at things like this. With a few minutes passing by, the raven haired male tilted his head a moment before closing his eyes raising his hand to grasp the bill of his hat. "You shouldn't accept such things from anyone. You deserve better than that." He mumbled gruffly, teals looking to the other male. Again, such topics such as these were not his strong suit, they were more like....his grandfather's - Joseph's niche, he supposed. "If you don't trust someone, believe that gut feeling." The man spoke once more.

He wasn't used to giving positive encouragement, or words, but here Jotaro was. Offering these words from his own experiences with people in his long, chaotic life. His belief was that if someone treated him one way, he would give back what was done to him. Jotaro was blunt - preferring the truth to using fakeness to get what he wanted. He'd always been to the point and preferred that communication had been straight forward as well.

There are a lot of moments in ACSoL that I love- the imagery of the effigy, all the little moments between Garl and Teaks (*waves my lonely Garl/Teaks shipping flag*), and Garl getting to meet Valere's mother. But if I had to pick a single line as my favorite, it's this one because it still makes me crack up:

“I cannot help but wonder, sometimes, what our world might have been spared if you and Aephorul had simply…considered seeing other people.”

It's the line that made me write the second chapter, and that spawned all the other B'st/Resh'an stuff I've written.

And I love B'st, man. His attitude towards Resh'an in the game fascinates me. He knows who Resh'an is! He knows that Resh'an doesn't know anything about his world or who and what he is. And he's fucking smug about it! "Did you think that I was younger than you?" Holy shit, what a power move. He has the opportunity to warn Resh'an about the cult, but once Serai interrupts him, he just...leaves it alone, and lets Resh'an meet the Triumvirate with absolutely no warning about what he's walking into.

So, yeah. B'st knowing more about Resh'an than Resh'an realizes is a whole thing, even if Resh'an hasn't quite figured that out yet. But he'll continue to be deferentially polite and treat Resh'an very gently, because he has more insight than most people into what was really going on between him and Aephorul.

Oh man, I'm so bad at playlists. And I have a lot more songs that I associate with Resh'an and Aephorul in this universe, especially their younger versions, than I do for the three of them together. So this is just a few songs that I do associate with YMTE(E), even if they don't really go together.

The Blues Brothers - Somebody to Love; this one's obvious, it's where the title comes from. I briefly considered "You, You, You" as the title, but that felt too cheesy. But it's a cheesy, upbeat, goofy song, and that's the central vibe of the entire AU.

Tenacious D - Tribute; this is less obvious, but the original title for the series was "The Greatest Song in the World...Tribute". Me being tongue-in-cheek, mostly- this is not the greatest fic in the world; this is just an AU.

The Virginia Gentlemen - Insomniac; this is vibes, and also B'st in chapter 3 a little bit.
