Serina had a relatively unknown life, a simple village girl, she made a living selling her family’s wares in a village only around six hours away from her own home. She was the middle child, the oldest son having died in a fight for the monarch, and her brother and sister having been too young to really make any contributions outside of helping their family through odd jobs in the village. Being the middle child, she flew under the radar, and sometimes felt unappreciated, but she still loved her family enough to make risky trips. Unfortunately, on a return trip home, she was set upon by highway men, who stole he meager funds she had, while slitting her throat. Her body had been thrown in a ditch on the side of a road, and was unable to be found by her family. Within time, a woodsman found her body, and with no identification at the time, buried what remained of her by the river.

Unlike most wraiths, she wasn’t revived immediately after death, instead, she was dead for around three hundred or so years, before the void reached out to her and bought her back. Being ripped from her afterlife left her confused, especially considering she dug her her way from her impromptu grave with naught but the tattered rags she had been buried in. Due to being revived so long after death, the void itself broke off a fragment of itself within her body. Leaving her with a facsimile of Zachary’s abilities.

For a while, she simply wandered the countryside until she settled down in a small town. She spent a while making a living as a tailor, until she met the man she would be married to. The two of them lived a relatively normal life, but unbeknownst to the two of them, due to her status as a wraith, she couldn’t bear children. After all, how could that which was dead create life? From there, their relationship began to sour, and eventually culminated in Serina being forced from the house, and due to the embarrassment of being forced out made her strike out on her own. Once again, she fell off the map.

During her time off the map, she became a prostitute in London. For the most part, she chose the profession of her own volition. It was a good way to get to know people, if only to rob them blind later. People were no longer something she could form attachments with, no, now, what mattered was how they could be useful to her. Plus, sex was a way to show her power. It’s where she really came into her own as a wraith, where her powers first started to develop. She used her powers to manipulate others, either win them over to her side or get them to ruin their own lives through her actions.

Seeing the murders of prostitutes in London convinced her that despite their use, women like herself were simply there to be thrown away eventually. Yet, despite her cynicism, she decided to do what she could to help the women in similar spots to herself. This was designed as a way to make herself money on the side, but somewhere along the way, she truly began to care about the other prostitutes under her care. She laughed, she cried alongside them, and they were the only people she would ever allow herself to be vulnerable around. On the surface, she seems aloof, but to the women under her care, she's much kinder than the people they used to work under.

Centuries later, she gave a name to this group of women shunned by the world for their profession. They were known as The Songbirds. While on the surface, they maintain the image of a group of escorts, they're a rather extensive collection of information, be it street knowledge or even dirty secrets shared by clients, they're much more than they seem.
