sometimes when i'm bored or need to occupy myself for a while, i think about how i would explain a concept or item in modern society to someone from 50, 100, 200 years ago, and what other groundwork i'd have to lay just to get there....it's a fun thought exercise and a good way to test my knowledge/understanding of a wide range of topics. i passed an entire regional flight yesterday thinking about everything i'd have to go through to explain instagram to someone from 1824
