I decided to start figuring out a pattern for a skirt I really want to make based off of one from the museum, and, ngl, I know I'm pretty much at the start of this whole pattern-drafting-thing but so far it's so incredibly easy?????

#adventures in sewing #this will come back to bite me in about 5 minutes I'm sure #but like. idk man. I feel like skirts in general are just. not very hard.#you stick a bunch of panels together that are smaller at the top and wider at the bottom and tada. skirt.#also I only have REALLY shitty photos of the original because they put it on the hanger wrong #we have these special clothing hangers with towel fabric that skirts sometimes get sewn onto so I can't just take it off and have a look #but they put it on wrong #they probably assumed the closure is on the side but it's on the front #(not in the middle but like. to the right.)#which is somewhat common with traditional clothes #anyway the original is a really cool pinstripe skirt with fun details out of strips of fabric and buttons #and there's just one single overlapping pleat on the back #so I'm gonna do my best to recreate it - though out of a brown pinstripe instead of black #(the brown pinstripe that has all the small holes in it)#(I'm gonna line this in a grey bedsheet that I hate and that I'm now making the mock up out of lmao)#this won't be a skirt to wear like alllll the time. more for like winter festivals and the like #but I've been thinking about it for MONTHS and today decided to just fuck it let's start
