for the ship meme, gaara (whether adult or time travelling or whatever), big expectations placed on them as kids, kinda demonised for meeting those expectations, treated poorly for zero reason, not loved enough by the narrative
Hey!
So I've looked at Shisui/Gaara briefly before-
"Gaara: the ANGST, the TENDERNESS. Shukaku is losing his fucking mind that the person Gaara dates is the Uchiha with the ability to rewrite reality and this has the potential to be absolutely hilarious. Also Gaara's ultimate defence shield against Shisui's Shunshin would be so so fun, wandering the dunes together and being murder husbands with gentle words ❤️🔥 Shisui, through growing up with Itachi and also helping Tenzo, will be well versed in helping Gaara navigate his lack of socialisation as well as bloodlust, Gaara will be able to look into Shisui's darkness and touch him very delicately and deliberately. This whole thing screams knowing silences, dramatic landscapes and very carefully chosen words with a wealth of meaning behind them. Also imagine the serial killer AUs. Yes, yes I have been revisiting Hannibal (TV) fanfic."
- when I talked about theoretical Rookie Nine Shisui pairings and I really like it!
Time travelling Gaara is a personal favourite of mine, there is a Gaara/Tobirama/Izuna fic out there that literally changed my brain chemistry, so Gaara time travelling by accident and ending up at the time of the Massacre so deciding to get involved because Danzo needs stopped sooner rather than later, the loss of the Uchiha clan destabilised Konoha, Itachi shouldn't become a missing nin, and he wants to visit Naruto~ saving Shisui, who Gaara probably didn't even know about, is a happy coincidence. Shisui is like holy shit a suna nin saved me, we're not allies, wait hold on YOURE A JINCHUURIKI? and Shukaku is rolling in his grave seal because noooooooooo Mangekyou lil bitch, Gaara is kinda invested now and Naruto would want him to fix Sasuke's life so blah blah shit happens, and Gaara goes home to suna because he should probably explain some stuff to mini-him and help out, shisui starts taking literally every mission to wind country and they become known an international boyfriends and everyone is like "hey Gaara, your bf is here again" and Gaara is like 0_0 okay and kankuro is only like 12 so he's a like EWWE GAARA HAS A BOY FRIEND and Gaara is like shisui is a boy and i suppose we are friends yes *very slight softening of his face because this is novelty* and shisui is like "DEFFO NOT COMPLAINING BUT WHY DO PEOPLE THINK WE'RE DATING?" and then is like "okay but you should kiss me then~" and shukaku is wishing for death 🥰
I went a bit overboard, Hiding, but enjoy lmao~

You have to get the ball rolling and, to do that, get rid of as many sticking points as you can.
For example, you really enjoy writing action but dialogue ruins your momentum? You plan for this, have a very clear view of what should be happening, if not the words exactly, and just... Skip every bit that sticks you in place too long. A first draft is the word vomit, it's not pretty and it's not complete but it's there.
To start the story from actual scratch, as in moving from daydreaming in the shower to writing on a page, you need to get basic bullet points down so you don't flounder when you're trying to get past the first scene/chapter. If your story is character-centric, write a little list (age, powers/strengths/weaknesses, job, most important relationships, motivation etc) to remind you of where you're starting from.
Example: I write Shisui-centric fanfic from Naruto, so I keep a list of who he is closest to in my fics (Itachi, Kakashi, Inoichi), his powers (Shunshin, Fire + Wind Type, Mangekyou, Susanoo), what age the fic starts him at, and his motivations (Stop the Uchiha Coup). Regardless of what scene begins the story, you keep the characters mentality at the forefront.
Example: The Protagonist jumps from a cliff, evading their attackers. What does the water feel like, what are they feeling, are they swimming or sinking, are they alone, what season/day/time is it, are they injured, do they get to shore, are they safe or followed? All of these small decisions 1) roll into each other and begin to build the scene as well as your writing momentum and 2) require insight into the Protagonist's personality, from skills to emotional reactions.
If the story is not character centric, for example about an item or a place or the scene just begins away from character focus (like a narrator's contextual voiceover), then you treat the wider universe (town, item, kingdom, AU, whatever) like a character with an aesthetic, culture, language, social structure, time period, politics, unrest, etc etc, then you build upon that.
Example: Your story is based on a magical book that passes from hand to hand, revealing more of its power and more of the world as it progresses. Come up with a list of characteristics (who handles the book, can it be opened or not, what is inside it, who made it, is it sentient or not, is it new or old, where is it going?) And this will also provide a timeline, hopefully. Pick a situation from that list that inspires you the most and decide which scenario follows it.
By pinning down events, you gradually begin tailoring your own daydreaming to connect directly to the story outline. This works for most story types, character centric or not, i find; instead of vaguely liking the idea of a pairing or scene or AU (in fanfic), you can trick your mind into plotting out actual scenes. Instead of just: "what if they kissed in the rain?" You begin thinking about "a rainy afternoon, a broken umbrella, streetlights reflecting from cobblestones, they argue about the night their marriage ended and Character A makes to leave but Character B calls them a coward and suddenly they kiss". Things move from being vague and passive to part of a greater narrative.
A story does NOT have to be written in order. If a scene is too hard and killing your enthusiasm... Move on! Eventually, if you day dream enough and scribble down enough sentences, the scenes begin to naturally flesh out. You'll be hit with a witty one liner, maybe, and base a whole conversation just so it can be said. You'll fall down a rabbit hole of describing food and architecture and people until there are more and more words painting a sensory feast across the pages. The scenes begin to grow big enough to connect across the timeline and the smaller ones between them, once so hard or boring, become so much more manageable (sometimes they stay hard but looking at everything else you've done will hopefully power you through) and then you realise that things don't connect so you begin to read from the very beginning, filling in gaps and laughing as some crazy lines and groaning as you cut out parts you wrote ages ago. You get to the end and go right back to the start and do it again, until you know the plot inside and out and the characters are old friends in the back of your head.
This could be a whole story or a single chapter. If it's the latter, to keep momentum going, i find it's best to immediately bullet point the events in the next chapter as soon as I've finished the one before it, so i don't forget what's happened and what needs to come next. It snowballs from there, typing out little lines i want said, or describing a devastated reaction to a reveal or the sunlight on the water in a new location. And the next thing you know, you're already in the middle of the process again before your brain as even had a chance to flee from motivation.
TL/DR: trick your brain into daydreaming plot by bullet pointing a loose framework, write what makes you joyful, then string it all together and repeat.
Ok so! I’ve come for some advice on writing- how do people actually follow through with writing?
Like, I have plenty of ideas for my characters that I really wanna write, but it’s hard to put stuff into words. Sometimes I just get overwhelmed at the thought of trying to write a story and end up not writing it at all.
Does anyone have any tips and/or advice for writing stories in general? Or at least on how to not get overwhelmed by writing?

A/N: sorry if this is awful 🙃 im realizing that writing a bunch of fics day after day really drains your inspiration and makes it really hard to keep writing… i do plan to finish the other fics, but obviouslyyy not on time lol
anyways… HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! thanks for sticking around with me this year! looking forward to 2022 with all of you 🥳 ~kuri 💜
ℙ𝕒𝕚𝕣𝕚𝕟𝕘: You Shunshin x F!Reader
𝔾𝕖𝕟𝕣𝕖: Smut (M) - SEXUAL CONTENT

It was the day before New Year’s Eve, and Shunshin along with some former teammates from Akikawa had decided on celebrating at your guys’ house. As a result, he was spending most of the day cleaning and making preparations for the so-called party you’d be hosting tomorrow night. You decided it’d be nice if you helped him out, so you did, however, it was starting to get boring just tidying and decorating the house all day long.
“Shun, we should take a break,” you suggested, plopping down onto the couch while he wiped down the entire kitchen.
“Are you tired?” he responded whilst continuing to concentrate on his cleaning.
“Well, no… but I’m particularly tired of cleaning. It’s not like the house needs to be spot free, y’know. It’s just Nino and the guys, I don’t think they’ll care…” you reasoned, hoping to persuade him to calm down just a bit with the cleaning.
“I know, but it’s been a while since we’ve done a deep clean around the house. Since they’re coming over tomorrow, I figured we could kill two birds with one stone.”
“But… we’ve been cleaning all day. Don’t you need a break?”
“Maybe once I finish the kitchen.”
Groaning to yourself, you sank further into the couch, defeated that your attempts to get Shunshin to lay off the cleaning had failed. After distracting yourself on your phone for what you felt was too long, you decided that simply waiting around wouldn’t stop your boyfriend from continuing with what he was doing, so instead, you chose to do something about it.
“Shuuun…” you whined, walking up to him in the kitchen and wrapping your arms around his waist with your face squished into his chest, “Take a break already.”
“Is it that important to you that I take a break?” he asked, hugging you back with only his elbows to avoid touching you with his dirty hands.
“Yes. You’re working too hard. You deserve a break.” Looking up at him with loving eyes, your hands moved from his waist, up his body and around his neck, pulling him into a soft kiss which he happily indulged in, but only for a brief moment before he pulled away.
“Alright, fine. Just let me wash my hands first,” he agreed, succumbing to your wish at last. Happily cheering, you waited patiently for him to finish before taking him into your arms once more and reconnecting your lips.
“Such a workaholic,” you muttered between kisses as you snuck your hands under his shirt. He hummed in response, encouraging you to continue
“So this is what you meant by a break?” Shunshin questioned, but still, he invited your actions.
“Well, no… not initially. I just meant we should both take a break in general… but this would make for a pretty good break, don’t you think?”
Before answering, he scooped you up into a princess carry and started making his way out of the kitchen. “Yes, I believe this is a good way for us to utilize our break,” he spoke, carrying you all the way to the bedroom and gently laying you down on top of the fluffy comforter.
“Glad we’re on the same page now,” you replied breathily before pulling his face down to you and closing the gap between your lips, but still, you yearned for more intimacy. Hooking your legs around his waist, you pulled the rest of his body flush against you, allowing you to bathe in his warmth and sweet scent. Moments after, he broke the kiss to press a chaste peck to your cheek before letting his soft lips wander down your neck to your collarbone and then your chest.
You’d always admired how meticulous Shunshin was in everything that he did, and he was so much more so in bed. He cared so much about how he was making you feel, always taking mental notes on things you liked or didn’t like, and he was oh so observant of your reactions to everything. With him, nothing ever went unnoticed and you could never get away with faking anything. It also meant that he encouraged you to be responsive whenever he did anything to you, so he could discern how good or bad things felt for you and further make adjustments to enhance your experience as much as he could. It made for some of the best sex you’d ever experienced, and you knew it’d continue to get better with time.
Once you’d both unclothed yourselves, Shunshin retook his position on top of you, and this time, his lips ventured further south on your body. Soon enough, his face was between your legs, tongue swirling around and flicking at your sensitive bundle of nerves while his long, slender digits worked wonders past your slick folds. Sometimes, it felt like he knew your body better than you did with how quickly he got you to the edge, and his continuous studies and observations of you in bed were likely to thank.
You barely lasted another minute when the building tension in your core burst, sending waves of pleasure surging through your body. Shunshin grinned to himself in satisfaction, loathing his feat for a moment before positioning himself to your entrance, steadily easing himself into your fleshy cavern once you’d given him the okay.
The way he stretched you out just right made it seem like he was made for you, and the way he effortlessly hit that spot deep in your core with each stroke made your insides tingle in delight. As he picked up his pace, he coaxed your body to climax and even though you tried, resisting became increasingly difficult; he was just too damn good.
With your limbs squeezing tightly around his torso and face buried into the crook of his neck, you braced yourself for the euphoria that was soon to come. It took nothing more than a few more hits to your sweet spot to push you over the edge, white hot pleasure erupting through your trembling body as you rode out your high, this one more intense than the first.
Once he’d felt that you came, Shunshin withdrew himself from you and finished on your stomach, as he always did to ensure your safety. Pressing his forehead to yours for a moment, he captured your lips in a soft kiss before cleaning you up and settling back in bed next to you.
“I have a feeling you probably don’t want to do much cleaning now, huh?” Shunshin asked, gently caressing your cheek with his thumb.
“How’d you know?” you laughed weakly, still recovering from the earlier events.
“Just a guess,” he shrugged, “But it’s fine. How about we just make it one of our resolutions for the new year?”
You couldn’t help but smile at his words, wondering just how you’d gotten lucky enough to find someone as caring and selfless as Shunshin. “Yeah, I like that idea,” you agreed, snuggling up into his chest.

2016 Fanfic Year in Review
Stolen from @emeraldwxves. I’m going to do separate lists for HQ and DnA, because the fandoms are so much different. Also, my Miyuki/Suga fics (crossovers) will be filed with the Daiya stuff.
Haikyuu
1. Your 3 fanfics with the most comments: 1. + Add Friend (95) 2. Never Asked (76) 3. When it rains . . . (65)
2. Your 3 fanfics with the most kudos: 1. + Add Friend (266) 2. When it rains . . . (210) 3. Brain Freeze (187) 3. Your 3 fanfics with the most Bookmarks: 1. + Add Friend (48) 2. When it rains . . . (35) 3. Brain Freeze (27) Never Asked (27)
4. Your first fanfic in 2016 Awakening (AkaKage)
5. Your last fanfic in 2016 What You Know (IwaDai)
6. Favorite Opening line from a fic in 2016 The dull whirr of the copier spitting out eight collated copies of a twenty-page report clatters on unnoticed while Akaashi looks out the glass windows and into the rest of the floor. — All That Matters (AkaKage) 7. Favorite ending line from a fic in 2016 “Never,” Kageyama says with complete seriousness, and all of them laugh as they stroll off the Karasuno grounds shoulder to shoulder, exchanging stories and numbers as the past couple of years slide away like a distant memory. — Scrimmages and Second Chances (KinKuniKage) 8. Your favorite character to write for in 2016 Both Kindaichi and Kageyama, I think
9. Your favorite pairing to write for in 2016 KinKage!!! My sweet children
10. Your proudest fic from 2016: This is hard to answer because I’m kind of in a weird place where I don’t even know if my work is good or garbage. However, in terms of what I enjoyed writing the most, I’ll have to go with When it rains . . . (KinKuni). It’s never taken so little effort to write something that so many people seem to enjoy. I cranked this out on a whim to participate in KinKuni Week, with no prior planning and no plot to speak of. It was just an exercise in them, and that is enough for me. I’m glad others agree.
11. Your Longest Fanfic: Never Asked (13734 words). I save my wordiness for Daiya, apparently.
12. Any goals for 2017? More KinKage, and smaller breaks in writing for this fandom.
Daiya no Ace
1. Your 3 fanfics with the most comments: 1. Not a Love Story (101) 2. A Forever Kind of Thing (63) 3. If I Don't Have You (27 – has more comment threads) Adrift (28 – has a higher number of total comments)
2. Your 3 fanfics with the most kudos: 1. A Forever Kind of Thing (129) 2. Not a Love Story (126) 3. Now and Then (79) 3. Your 3 fanfics with the most Bookmarks: 1. A Forever Kind of Thing (26) 2. Not a Love Story (20) 3. Now and Then (18)
4. Your first fanfic in 2016 Signals (KuraMiyu)
5. Your last fanfic in 2016 Doyoubi (JunTetsu) 6. Favorite Opening line from a fic in 2016 The sound of roots disengaging from cold soil is satisfying to Eijun’s ears as he tears a small tree out of the ground with his bare hands. — Now and Then (MiSawa) 7. Favorite ending line from a fic in 2016 Slowly but surely, the travails of the day drape over Miyuki and drag down his eyelids, but as he drifts off to sleep, he wonders if he imagines the soft rumble of Shun’s voice as he says, “You’re welcome.” — Side by Side (Miyuki/Shunshin) 8. Your favorite character to write for in 2016
Miyuki Kazuya, for sure. It’s been interesting pairing him with Everybody™.
9. Your favorite pairing to write for in 2016
Miyuki/Suga (HQ), definitely. I didn’t know I needed them until I randomly paired them together. I love it, and I love them. Good thing I dragged @starrwinter down with me.
10. Your proudest fic from 2016: A Forever Kind of Thing (MiSuga). It’s got a fun atmosphere and, more than that, it started my love of this random-ass pairing.
11. Your Longest Fanfic: Not a Love Story (33589 words)
12. Any goals for 2017? I would say it’s to write more Furuya. He’s a darling angel polar bear child who gets way more hate than he deserves, and I can and will be a one-dude wrecking crew to change that.
