help i’m having deep thoughts at 12am i should be asleep
#this is what i get for sleeping all day#in my defence i had a migraine#also currently thinking about the use of the word consume and how it’s meaning has changed in regards to art#people describe media as being consumed but i feel this disregards any interaction the viewer has with the art#you consume tiktoks: they take up a minuet of attention and are then gone#you read books and watch film and veiw visual art#because at its core art is about the audiences interactions with the artists concept#and consuming something fully disregards any value it has as art and turns it into something to be viewed once#and then deleted from its platform forever#i’m looking at you disney for removing willow tv after it was only out 3 months#we need more passion in art#and less creating quantity to be consumed#i don’t care how many views something gets i care that it means something#either to the viewer or the people who put everything into creating it#anyway

would you like me to send in any of my headcanons about ryoshu's past, specifically regarding her relationship with her daughter? i just... ough, i love mama ryoshu so much and exploring her possible relationship with stuff surrounding motherhood so much, both happy and sad! and of course, if you have any headcanons or theories about her relationship with yuzuki please tell me about them here! i'd love to hear 'em! ^_^
I'd absolutely love to hear you head canons, especially relating to her and her daughter! I have mega bias for mama Ryoshu stuff. I love bitter sweet things. Trying to wrack my brain for head canons. These are mucked up with Hell Screen lore. A lot of fanfics or interpretations I know veiw the setting in PM as a backstreets situation. More likely it would be Backstreets my brain can't visualize some of it as Backstreets.
Ryoshu did care for Yuzuki and art equally
Ryoshu did normal art with Yuzuki (little drawings and stuff)
Yuzuki is pretty clever, pretty smart.
Yuzuki is the blood child of Ryoshu but honestly adoption is fine too. The father's either dead or Ryoshu to be a single mother.
Ryoshu cooked Yuzuki in the Ryoshu's Bistro ID. Her odachi has bandages all over it.
As far as parenting goes, Ryoshu is really stern and seems very abrasive and aggressive but she just has a resting bitch face. She never yells at Yuzuki on purpose and she's straight forward with her expectations. It helps that Yuzuki is a good kid at heart. No one, not even Ryoshu has no idea how Yuzuki ended up seemingly gentle natured and kind when Ryoshu is Ryoshu. It doesn't make Ryoshu love Yuzuki less.
Ryoshu is a single mother. Guess it's more obvious she'd take both motherly and fatherly roles? To others, she's gives more protective father vibes.
Even if Ryoshu's working on her art, before she went with Yuzuki to the idk wherever shitface Horikawa lives now, she made an effort to sit and eat with Yuzuki whenever she could.
Yuzuki has very high tolerance for gore and violence because of her mother.
It doesn't mean Yuzuki isn't altruistic, she's trying to be the best person she can.
Yuzuki would watch Resha Sentai Toqgers.
As far as domestic arguments go, Ryoshu uses the silent treatment. Yuzuki leaves the home and goes for a walk or take her mind off it. Ryoshu will rarely say sorry out loud or apologize, but she will make it up somehow. Yuzuki knows how to defuse situations and Ryoshu's more gentle to her than any other person. Ryoshu talks sternly but never yells at Yuzuki. Maybe Yuzuki feels the need to yell more?
Ryoshu's art is not Yuzuki's art but Yuzuki respects her mother's art.
They have little arguments here and there but rarely are they serious.
Yuzuki enjoys traditional art, maybe nature, conventionally pretty things. She tried to spend a lot of time outside in the courtyard of wherever nest Horikawa had his place in.
If Yuzuki is adopted, she's more withheld and shy around Ryoshu than if she was a birth child. She'd also leave the home less.
If I come up with more, I will definitely post. I need to read more books or general things. with motherhood or parenthood. I like exploring the intrafamilial relationship. There's this one Korean film about a mother, forgot the name, same creator of Parasite, apparently it has a nice story.
Im a sociology major so for how shitty The City is, they can say something about how the children are treated and let down over and over by this system. Child labors already confirmed, what else? I am excited to learn more about how people parent in The City.
