This is the first time I've seen Kaori's Chicago program and I heard people didn't like it, and I thought it couldn't be that bad, but I have to admit, I don't love it

see but one moon by orphan_account ♡
sirius black has been pining for the nerdy barista, remus lupin, for three months, but can't seem to get his attention. remus, however, has noticed the over-excited law student, but isn't interested in being a conquest of the week. when remus starts listening to the marauding hour - a university radio programme, he finds himself enraptured by one of the djs, and starts to crush on him - hard. little does he know that padfoot has known him all along, and is looking for something much more than a one-off.
hard to find by accioromulus
the air conditioning is already broken, sirius's back has been effectively glued to the leather seat via sweat, and this road-trip may have been a very bad idea.
lost in the rhythm of your love by children_of_the_shadows ♡
the marauders are an up and coming rock band that needs a guitarist to elevate their music. when remus lupin comes into his life, sirius feels like he's found someone who not only completes the band but also completes him. however, his new found love comes with many challenges that he's unprepared for. sirius/remus band au.
the taste of colour by orphan_account
soulmates can see colour, and sirius knows he never wants that. because it can't hurt to lose someone if you never fall in love. the only problem is, sometimes you don't have a choice in the matter.
five times Sirius nearly finds out, and the one time he does by littlebozsheep ♡
when remus starts at his new school he's put in the boy’s dormitory and he's scared that his roommates will find out his secret. the situation is made worse when one roommate, sirius, quickly starts to dote on him, never leaving him alone.

modern au: sirius black, star of the university's football team, only wants one thing: a teensy-weensy, harmless little kiss.
chasing glory by yumenouveau ♡
sirius is finally competing in the winter olympics, and though that is normally enough to make any man throw themselves at the skier's feet, great britain's beautiful elusive figure skater does not seem impressed. after remus turns him down, sirius has to figure out how to win over the man he's had a crush on for four long years.
other's woe by orphan_account ♡
forced to attend a group project meeting for a theology class, remus thinks his day will be miserable until a gorgeous, grey-eyed stranger plants himself at their table and challenges the archaic thinking of the rest of the group. and in the end, it works out very well for remus lupin

"why exclude me from your pool of choices?" remus's breath fanned across his face, amber eyes half lidded in a way that always drove sirius crazy with lust. "already knows how to make you moan and cry and scream?" a teasing caress down his arse and all sirius could hear was his own keening voice and laboured breath. "you want to fuck your way into finding who you are? then let's fuck. no strings. no expectations." sirius/remus muggle au

“stop stealing my bloody clothes, lupin.” he says, very quietly.
remus looks up at him, eyes dark, and murmurs pleasantly: “better learn to do your own laundry then, black. consider it my fee.”

— WHO IS JUNG MINJAE?
she’s a TWENTY-TWO year old wannabe, born NOVEMBER 7, 2001. she’s currently undecided regarding companies and lives by the words “stars are born out of dark moments.
maybe you should learn more or ask her a question.
▶ PLAY THE CLIP [ dream_reality.mp4 ]
— ᴡʜᴀᴛ’ꜱ yᴏᴜʀ ᴅʀᴇᴀᴍ?That wasn’t the first interview of her life — nor was it one of the most original questions she could’ve ever been asked. Yet, it had still managed to stop her heart. Funny how, once, she would’ve been so certain about the answer, so quick in coming up with the words that had always been there from the start, her one true goal since she’d been old enough to dance in the rink. She’d sketched and dreamt of herself with an Olympic gold medal around her neck every moment of every day while growing up, at least until the moment all those fantasies had crashed down like the thinnest piece of ice.
 It'd been years since that day — years since the pain and the broken bones and the blood she remembered only glimpses of —, but she wasn’t so sure she’d already found another answer to give. Becoming an idol, though, had been the first ambition she’d allowed herself to chase ever since. It’d come as a lifeline during the years when she’d felt too lost to be found.
 "My dream?" Minjae started, her deep brown eyes focusing back on the woman in front of her as if she’d just came back to reality after the briefest trip in the depth of her mind. Whether truth or a makeshift lie were about to come out of her mouth, she knew the interviewer wasn’t going to care nor to notice. She hadn’t been in that world that long — she’d barely even started to peek through the peephole of it —, but enough to understand that most people only cared about a well-polished façade. In a sense, that wasn’t so different from all the fake smiles and pirouettes she used to do to enchant the judges. "I would say my dream is something more than standing on a stage or gaining fame. It's about redemption, I want to finally be able to turn my pain into something beautiful. »
Minjae had never been one to come up with the most poetic lines — it was one the reasons why she sucked at songwriting. But she had her moments, didn’t she? Opening up about her feelings during an interview was the last thing she planned on doing — and she was probably going to regret it a few moments later —, but Minjae was finally realizing just how much she herself needed to hear that. « You know I used to be a figure skater, right? The rink was my world, and then I lost it. And then I lost myself, too. » Enfant prodige had become a menace on the streets — she wasn’t proud of her past, but she wasn’t going to apologize for it.
« And then, one day, music has simply started speaking to me in a way nothing else’d ever done. Becoming an idol is not just a career choice for me, it's my chance to reclaim my identity and prove to myself and others that I can rise from the ashes. Like a phoenix, you know? » A chuckle escaping the girl’s lips, the stage name she used while dancing had always made her cringe, but the interviewer didn’t need to know that. Minjae knew it couldn’t have been anything different. She’d gone through fire, now she was trying to find her rebirth. To be someone and do what she did best — speak through music and dance, even without the ice under her feet.

blue flames and red feathers (2)
part1  part2   part3
wattpad
(18+) Dabi + Hawks + (y/n) fem
Shifting from foot to foot on the sidewalk outside your apartment you waited for your coworkers to arrive. You spent hours shuffling from outfit to outfit until you ran out of time and settled on a blue skater dress. You didn’t care much for the heals but they matched. You knew that if you wore them your feet would be killing you later, but the lack of other options forced you to wear them tonight.
The drive to the club was lively with the radio blaring. You almost wanted to insist that they come back another night when you noticed the long line of patrons wanting to enter the club.  To your dismay one of the girls said she was a friend of someone who worked for Endeavor’s agency and got his rejected club passes. Hawks had told you before that many businesses send freebees to top heroes in hope of them coming. It was a strange type of marketing ploy.
After you each flashed your IDs to the bouncer you made it inside the loud thumping smoke-filled club. Bright lasers filled the dark space and low lights illuminated the bar and seating areas. You watched as your coworkers quickly flocked the bar grabbing shot glasses while you awkwardly maneuvered through the crowds. By the time you regrouped the boisterous group of girls were slamming their second shot glass.
Barely able to hear what the girls next to you were saying it was just easier to smile and nod at the conversation. Swiftly a couple of the girls from the group broke off to the dance floor. Wasn’t long before they were no long dancing with each other but dancing with strange men.
“Here drink this.” One of your coworkers nudged you for your attention handing you a swirling blue liquid inside a small glass cup. With a tight smile on your face, you thanked her. You knew you needed to loosen up the awkward tension was thick. Not wanting to be a wet blanket you drank down the glass. The burn of the alcohol caused you to let out strained coughs. When you regained yourself, you looked around see that your party had fully disbursed leaving you alone at the bar.
With wobbly feet you walked towards the restrooms in hope to text Hawks that you were not having a good time and wanting him to pick you up. Hopefully he wasn’t busy working far away. Between the uncomfortable shoes and the strange alcohol hitting your system each step became harder and harder. As you nearly fell over strong arms wrapped around your mid-section pulling you back into a hard chest. The thump of your body colliding with their then them colliding with a wall knocked you dizzy for a moment.
“Where are you off to little slut?” A deep voice whispered in your ear. A chill ran up your spine as you knew you could never forget the sound of HIS voice. You felt the scratch of metal on the back of your leg as his hand ran up your thigh. He was under your running a finger under your panties at your hip. His fingers felt hot against your soft skin.
“Are you off to fuck another villain in the bathroom?” Dabi was enjoying how your heartrate and breathing started to pick up. Your heavy panting causing your breasts to rise and fall. “That’s right you’re into heroes again. Guess you must be over that bad boy phase already.” Panic filled you from him knowing something so personal. You started to squirm away, but he gripped his free arm over you like a seatbelt leaving his hand light placed over your neck. He started to shush you while the hand under your dress was placed over your clothed core. His fingers pushing the fabric between your folds to soke up your moistier.
“Please Dabi let me go.” You sucked in your bottom lip as you let out a throatily moan from his touch. “I promise I wont tell anyone I saw you here. I just want to go home.” His nose was running along your ear, so you were able to hear him moan as if he was thinking over your words despite the loud music. “Please.” You begged with the prick of tears in the corner of your eyes.
“Alright.” His grip on your neck tightened but his large hands didn’t put pressure on your airway. “But I will be seeing you real soon (y/n).” The hand under your dress gave a squeeze of your womanhood and you jumped from the sensation. “Real soon.” He left a chase kiss at the back of your cheek near your ear. As quickly as his hands were on you, they were gone.
You spun around losing your balance in the process to see where he had gone but there was only a wall. With more urgency you made your way into the restroom. You frantically pulled out your phone but no answer from Hawks. After a deep calming breath, you texted him. If it wasn’t for autocorrect none of your rapid-fire messages would have been legible. Despite you promise deep down it would have been foolish not to tell your high-ranking hero boyfriend that a top villain was at the club. Taking a seat on the countertop you downloaded a ride share app quickly typed in your info and waited for the notification that your ride was here to get you.
“Shit.” For the second time you dropped your apartment keys to the floor. Your mind was still uneasy after your run in with Dabi. You didn’t even bother to tell anyone you had gone home. Only hiding in the bathroom like a scared child until your ride showed.
You had convinced yourself that the reason he was after you was to kill you. He knew you had told the police about him and wanted to tie up loose ends. This panic left you trembling. You took both your hands wrapped them around your keys and slowly managed to open your apartment door. A stray tear left your eye at the small victory. Rushing inside you slammed the door shut and locked it quickly. You peeked out the spy hole like a mad woman only letting out a deep sigh when you noticed the hallway was still empty.
Flicking on the living room light you only felt slightly safer in the walls of your apartment. You grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and went into your bedroom. Telling yourself that after a relaxing shower and good night sleep you would feel better. Chugging half the bottle down you felt the cool water chill your racing body. With quick movements pulled your skater dress over your head and tossed it into the hamper.
In the mirror you noticed the large wet spot on your panties from when Dabi had touched you. Slowly you moved a towards your lower half, but you stopped suddenly. In the corner of your eye, you noticed movement in the mirror’s reflection coming from behind you. As you looked over your eyes wide with fear as bright blue eyes stared back at you.
Dabi was leaning with his arms folded over his chest on your bathroom door frame. You spun around nearly loosing balance from your heals. The palms of your hands gripped the top of your dresser keeping you from falling over.
“W-wha..” Your frantic words trailed off.
“I told you I would see you soon.” He started to take long strides over to you.
“Ho- How did you get in here.” He didn’t answer with words only a blank expression and a shrug of his shoulders. Before you could ask another question, he was towering over you. Your eyes stayed locked with his fear kept you trapped in place. You knew what this man was capable of and images of your tragic end on the evening news filled your mind.
“A-are you here to kill me?” A sly smile pulled at the corner of his lips. He placed his hands on the dresser behind you trapping you in place. He leaned his face closer to yours with a hum in his throat. His nose lightly brushed along your cheek when he reached your temple, he placed a chase kiss to your skin.
“I was thinking about it.” He brought his hand up capturing your chin to keep your attention forced on him. “Would be a shame to get rid of such a fine piece of ass like you.” He ran his thumb over your lips on instinct you opened your mouth allowing him to run is thumb over your tongue while you lightly sucked it. “So why don’t you do what you do best and convince me not to kill you.”
His grip on your chin tightened as his thumb firmly pressed on your bottom front teeth. Your sucking stopped as he started to guide your face down. You slid to your knees and placed your hands on his hips. You looked up to see his blue eyes glowing with an unsettling desire. It was clear as glass what he was in your apartment for and its not like the night you shared together was bad experience. The only dread you had was having Hawks suddenly come home and catch you with a top villain.
“Do it just like you did when we met.” He removed his hand from your face while yours went to work on his belt. With nimble hands you undid the button and pulled down the zipper. With a shifting grip you laced your fingers at the top of his pants pulling them down to his mid-thigh. You were now face to face with his cock bulging beneath his shorts. He made it jump knowing you were staring at it.  You tried to hide your smile at the childish act as you slowly looked back up at him.
“Well? get to it slut. We don’t have all night and I have many other positions I plan to have you in before I’m done.” One of his hands slid across your cheek to the back of your head his fingers now laced in your hair. Slender fingers slipped under his waist band to pulling them down until his cock sprung free.
Dabi’s dick is beautiful, for several reasons. It’s long and curves upwards beautifully when he gets hard. There are visible veins along his length, but the one underneath is particularly thick and gorgeous. The perfect canvas for the Jacob’s ladder that he has going from base to tip. The Prince Albert piercing was new. He must have got it done just after you met because it looked well healed. The wide head of his cock is always so pretty and pink. You staired in awe watching the little beads of precum leak around his piercing it was especially mouth-watering. He’s not as girthy as Hawks, but those piercings and veins more than make up for it.
His fingers tighten in your hair as he felt you start to take him in. The taste of metal and salt was thick on your tongue as you tentatively sucked on the tip, and it just tasted so good. You missed what it felt like to have him in your mouth, in your throat.
You picked up his weighty cock, lifting it above your face, so that you could deliberately drag your tongue along his shaft, letting it slowly climb every rung of the ladder while he watched. In awe of how big his dick looked resting against your cute face. How fucking sexy you looked when you locked eyes with him, pupils already blown with lust from how desperately you wanted him to abuse each and every one of your holes.
The sensation of the piercings on your tongue was enough to have you clenching at the thought of him sliding inside you, scratching that itch in a way that you never would admit out loud. How could you tell anyone that one of your best nights was with a top villain. You moaned, a lewd, animalistic sound as you bobbed your head over his length, feeling your tongue dance over the piercings again as the metal fastened within his tip kissed the back of your throat.
He nearly came the first time you took him to the hilt and watching you do it again now was dissolving his restraint.  His fingers fisting into your hair to grip it tight, knuckles turning white as he held himself as still as he could in your throat, willing himself not to cum before easing your off his length with a choked groan.
“Shit, baby,” he murmurs, inhaling a deep breath as he slowly shifted his hips forward, rocking his length in and out of your mouth. He was loving the tears that fell from your eyes as you held back from choking on him.  “You love this dick, don’t cha, doll?”
“Mmhmm,” you mewl, humming around the head as your tongue swirled around the metal and pressed against his sensitive slit lightly flicking his piercing.
“Oh, fuck, that’s it,” he growls, his eyes closing as his head dropped back. You began to swallow down the thick hot ropes that hit the back of your throat. As he slowly slid out you continued to lightly suck on his tip making sure to not miss a drop.
“You wanna know what? I actually missed the feeling of being trapped inside that soppin’ cunt of yours.” With a bit of force, he pulled you up to your feet then pushed you on to the bed. Your palms flat on the plush bedding slightly hunched over. You felt a chill across your exposed body as you stood there in your undergarments and heals.
His lips attached to your neck as his fingers went to work to remove your bra. He continued his wet openmouthed kissed along your skin causing goosebumps to form. With a soft thump you heard your bra fall to the floor. He trailed his fingers lightly up your spine causing you to whimper in your throat.
A flat palm placed between your shoulder blades forcing your upper body down to the bed. Dabi leaned over you slightly using some of his wight to keep you down. His free hand started to run along your clothed womanhood. His middle finger pressed the fabric between your lower lips causing the material to become moist from your juices.
“You are such a slut getting off to my cock, what a horny little bitch. But your my bitch aren’t you—yeah, say ‘yes sir’.” He quickly removed his hand from between your legs to send a sharp slap to your cheek.
“Yes sir.” You sharply squealed out.
“Wonder what your little hero boyfriend Hawks would say if he saw you like this? Does he make you as wet as I can?” You ducked your head down in shame. For a moment in your lust filled haze you had forgotten about Hawks and the guilt was twisting at your heart.
A cold chill stunned your body as you heard the click of locks from your front door. Despite the low villainous chuckles from Dabi you were hyper focused on the sound of Hawks’ work boots thumping closer to your bedroom.
“Whoa? I thought you were going to wait for me?” Hawks stood tall in the doorway looking between you and Dabi.
“Hawks!” You called out in panic, but he didn’t react to you. A confused look spread over your face as you took in the words, he just said realizing they were not aimed at you. It was boggling to even fathom that your loving boyfriend in anyway was working with Dabi.
“Aww... look at the little plaything trying to figure it all out.” Dabi’s words were venomous and caused your stomach to twist. You couldn’t help the tears that started to flow from your eyes.
“Come on chickadee don’t be like that.” As Hawks walked closer to you, he removed his jacket and shirt. You felt Dabi shift behind you and heard the rustling of clothes he was likely removing his pants from around his ankles. Hawks stroked your cheek so he could tuck some loose hair behind your ear.
“We just wanted to share you. (y/n) I care about you so much would you really think I would let any harm come to you?” He always has a huge twinkle in his eyes and a silly smile on his face whenever he looks at you but right now there was something slightly dark there. He only had that look when he was in an especially sexual mood. That look always caused heat to build in your panties. His words started to echo in your head as you debated his offer. No harm had come to you so far when you were alone with Dabi in fact you were quite enjoying yourself. The image of both of them having their way with you was enough to get you to start rubbing your legs together to create much needed friction.
“Seems the little slut likes the idea.” Dabi leaned next to your ear. “Not like I really cared what you thought. This isn’t about what you want Its about what we want.” With force Dabi flipped you to your back causing you to squeal in surprise. You looked away toward Hawks to see him removing the last of his clothing.
Hawks’ cock might be nicest you have seen, he has a red tip with a vain running from the tip to the base on the top and the same on the bottom. He started to lazily stroke his length as he crawled on the bed next to your head.
Dabi grabbed your face to the point it started to hurt forcing you to look back at him. His free hand was held up and incased in a blue flame. Your eyes went wide with fear but you dared not to move. Hawks gently stroked the top of your head calming you down slightly but you refused to look away from the flame. His flamed hand went down to your panties and he engulfed them. The heat stung your skin but once enough fabric was gone so was the flame.
Hawks placed a gentle kiss on your forehead and whispered that you were such a ‘good girl’. Dabi slid his hand off your face to grip your throat giving your neck a stern squeeze. His pointer finger and thumb guided your face towards Hawks’ prominent erection. Dabi slid his free hand down into your core the heat that lingered on his fingers from his quark left a warm sensation inside you. Your lips went wide as you gasped from the pleasurable sensation allowing Hawks’ to slip himself past your lips. Dabi wasted no time and removed his fingers from your dripping core and began to slide his own length inside you.
"Fuck baby, yeh that's it shit-", Hawks says grabbing your hair, you let out a moan around his dick as he pulls your hair slightly. “Yeah, you enjoy taking me so well, don’t you, Chickadee?” He hits the back of your throat as he moans. He has his hands in your hair, tugging at it, throwing his head back in accordance with the bobs of your head. You start to bob your head faster, hollowing out your cheeks and using your tongue to lick the veins along his cock.
"Ahh~ yeh that's it good girl, suck my cock"
Dabi had his palms underneath your knees, your thighs pressed up towards your chest as his slender body loomed over you, his thick cock sliding inside your tight cunt with slow, hard thrusts. His blue eyes watching the way your tits bounced with each rut of his hips.
“Fuck, doll. You feel so fuckin’ good. Look at your sloppy pussy, taking me so well.” Hawks’ removed himself for a moment from your mouth. You whimpered when you felt Dabi adjust your thighs slightly, slipping your ass further up on his lap as he began to angle his thrusts at a different spot inside you, one that had your eyes rolling back.
Shoving his precum, and saliva-soaked prick back into your mouth until Hawks was sure he was going to cum. You were so keen on helping him, humming with excitement as he fucked your mouth.
You feel him twitching in your mouth, "Fuck baby gonna cum" he says as he holds on to your head in place, thrusting his hips into your face, his cock going deeper into your throat.
"Fuck.. ahh~ shit yeh fuck-" Hawks moans out as he shoots his thick cum into your throat, painting the back of your throat white.
Dabi’s thumb unrelenting against your clit as he began to draw random patterns against it, groaning when he felt you begin to clench around him. Your cunt clenching around his cock as a clear stream began to trickle from your tight cunt.
Dabi’s eyes instantly looking between where your bodies were connected to watch the liquid seep from your body, splashing against his pelvis, abdomen and your thighs as he continued rutting his hips into you, enjoying the sight of you squirting all over him.
“Shit, that’s what I’m fuckin’ talking about doll, you dirty fuckin’ bitch.” The way your cunt was squeezing around him in the aftershocks of your orgasm had Dabi following you into bliss, bottoming inside you a final time as he came deep inside your quivering walls.
When he pulled his softening cock from your tight cunt his eyes immediately watched the way your cunt squeezed around nothing, unable to resist slipping his fingers down to run through the mixture of your releases, feeling it damp against his skin.
"Your blow jobs really are the best baby" Hawks kiss your forehead, but your body was so numb and buzzing from the after shock of your pleasure you could barely feel it. Your head was dizzy and your vision was blurry from tears. While you felt the bed shift as they moved away from you everything went dark and you drifted off to sleep.
You awoke feeling over heated. Heavy lids opened to survey your surroundings. The heat you felt was Dabi and Hawks sandwiching you between their bodies. With careful movement to not wake either of them you managed yourself out of bed. With light footsteps you made your way to the kitchen for much needed drink of water.
You felt sore, humiliated, and very satisfied with what you remembered doing. Once your thirst was quenched you walked back into your room only to stop at the sight of Dabi and Hawks cuddled together. You held back you giggles and found your phone. After snapping your picture, you hid your phone in your underwear drawer and tossed on an oversized shirt and panties. When you turned back to the bed you could see golden eyes peaking at you.
He lifted his wing and lazily lifted his arm making a small space for you to come back to bed to. You didn’t know the extent of his relationship with Dabi or what it meant for your relationship now that you three all shared an intimate moment. Sleep called to you louder than the million questions swirling in your head as you crawled into place. Hawks kissed your forehead while you felt Dabi shift behind you grunting.
“Night boys.”

Souichi x Reader 【Gloves】
Started the date one shot collection thingy
Here is the first addition to the collection
Thought of and wrote it in an hour, so I apologize if it feels OOC or boring or whatever
I especially apologize for any misspells
But other than that, please enjoy!!
The summer heat of Fukazawa could really be killer sometimes. People would line up for hours to buy shaved ice, and the public pools would be filled to the brim with people from all over town. It was days as hot as today that Souichi wished he could just make everything freeze over. But, then again, it was thanks to days like these that Souichi could experience a different kind of fun.
A small bell chimed as you opened the large heavy-looking door, allowing Souichi to walk into the building first. As you walked up to the ticket counter, an elderly lady greeted you.
“2 for public skating, please.” You said in a voice loud enough for her to hear. “That’ll be 4,000 yen.”
Just before Souichi could take out his wallet to pay for his half, you waved your hand at him and insisted that he didn’t need to pay. “You can pay for the hot chocolate instead.” You assured him with a smile.
After receiving your tickets, the door to the area buzzed loudly, finally allowing the two of you to enter the ice skating arena.
Souichi let out a small hum as cold air engulfed him. It was like you two had stepped into a completely different part of the world.
The inside area was separated into 3 sections. The food court, the private rink, and the public rink. The food court was empty, except for a couple of kids playing on some old-styled claw-machine games set up on the side. The private rink was extremely well lit and filled with a couple of pro-looking skaters twirling and jumping around in the air. As for the public rink…
“Looks like we got here at a good time!” You said in an excited voice. Even though it was the weekend, there were barely any people. What sounded like pop music played at a moderate volume, and the lights had been dimmed quite a bit. Souichi wasn’t exactly expecting to be alone with you on the ice, but he was sure there would be way more people than there were now. A feeling of nervousness arose within him as he realized that he couldn’t use the excuse of there being too many people to explain why he wouldn’t be able to skate so smoothly.
Turning the corner, you made your way to the skate-rental area. ]
“Shoe size?” The staff member asked looking at Souichi. “2✖cm.” “And you miss?” “2✖ and a half, please.”
After receiving your skates, you made your way to the benches that were set up nearby.
Souichi kicked off his shoes and placed his feet inside the hard-plastic skates. The shoes let out a loud clicking sound as he adjusted their tightness. When you both finished, you wobble-walked to the lockers nearby and put your stuff inside. Wrapping the key-band around his wrist, Souichi made his way to the ice with you.
“Gloves?” A large man standing near the only visible entrance put his foot out and blocked you both from walking any further.
After stating that you had none, he explained that it was arena policy to wear them while skating. Pointing you to the nearest gift shop, he asked you both to buy a pair and then come back.
You let out a sigh of annoyance as you walked back to the locker area. Unlocking the locker, Souichi got some money from his locker. “We should have just sliced his leg off.” Kicking your foot in the air, you spoke. “I bet we could have done it if we kick hard enough. Hehehe.” Souichi laughed through his nose. He loved when you made dark jokes like that.
Walking into the skate gift shop, his eyes scanned the area, ignoring the dozens of sparkly outfits that hung from the ceiling. When he found the glove section, he carefully walked towards it and searched for a color and design that he might like. However, there weren’t many options for him to choose from. It was either sparkly pink, neon green, or 2000 yen professional gloves. Shifting through the different gloves, he finally found a pair of his liking all the way in the back. Carefully taking it off the rack, he slipped one glove over his hand to make sure it was the right size.
“Oh~ Those are nice.” You said, admiring the grey glove on Souichi’s hand. “But how about these? They’d really make you stand out on the ice.” You said with a smile as you held out a pair of neon green gloves for Souichi to wear. “No way. Those are disgusting.” Souichi immediately responded. “Ah…Yeah. Haha. True…Mmm...” You said, trying to make what you had previously said seem like a joke.
It wasn’t until Souichi finished paying for the cheap gloves that he realized what you had been trying to do. Walking back towards the rink, he watched you put the neon gloves on your own hands. You rubbed your thumb over them, an expression of embarrassment plastered across your face.
Before Souichi could say anything, you looked up at him with a new smile. “Ready to skate?” Souichi nodded his head as he rushed to put his own gloves on. He’ll fix this little problem later…
The man who guarded the entrance to the rink gave you both a smile as you waved your hands in the air, showing off your new gloves.
Putting his foot on the ice, Souichi immediately held onto the barrier of the rink. This was nothing like roller-skating. The ice was way too slick, and the blades under his feet wouldn’t stop sliding to the slides. Souichi bit down on the nails in his mouth as he struggled to keep his balance.
“Everything okay?” You asked as you casually glided next to him. “Yeah. Just uhh… Familiarizing myself with the rink.” He said, leaning against the barrier. “Hmm~” You hummed as you stopped and stood close next to the raven-haired boy.
Feeling nervous by the sudden change in atmosphere, Souichi pushed off and tried to skate forward. He kept one hand on the barrier as you two skated side by side. He was slow. He could tell by the way you would skate slightly further than him and then slow down to be by his side again, that he was holding you back.
He wanted to tell you to go skate freely. That he wouldn’t mind just watching you skate from afar. God knows that would have been easier for him. But, you had other plans.
Suddenly, you stopped, forcing Souichi grip onto the barrier tightly to stop as well.
Turning to look at him, you put your neon gloved hand out for him to grab. Souichi looked up at you with nervous eyes, unsure what you were planning. Taking a deep breath, he let go of the barrier and took your hand.
Souichi let out a sound of surprise as you pulled him towards you, your other hand reaching to take his free one into yours. His eyes moved from the floor, to you, to the moving surroundings as you skated backward, tugging him along the entire time. He never knew you could skate backward.
When you finally stopped, he realized where you were.
“The middle of the rink…” He whispered to himself, getting a small laugh out of you. It was much more spacious than the sidelines, and the ice beneath his skates felt somewhat different. Smoother and untouched by other blades. Although it was cool, it was also quite terrifying at the same time. The middle of the rink was known to be territory only experienced skaters and staff members could use. Yet, there you two were.
“What would you do if I just left you here?” You said with a wicked laugh. “Eh?” Souichi looked up at you with shocked eyes. You wouldn’t. “I mean, it’s not like you can chase after me. Perhaps you can crawl after me though~” You teased, letting your grip on his hand go weak. “Don’t even think about it.” Souichi said in a stern voice, tightening his grip around your hands.
You smiled at the raven-haired boy’s panicked expression. “I’m just kidding. I won’t let you go.” You extended your arms and started to skate backward again, pulling Souichi towards you. You laughed as the pale boy took actual footsteps on the ice.
“Careful!” A staff member who had been skating exclaimed as he glided right behind you. Souichi let out a small yelp as you suddenly stopped.
“You okay?” You asked, helping Souichi regain his balance. Souichi shook his head yes, looking down at his wobbly feet once before looking back at you.
His cheeks burned red as he realized how close he was to you. The grip he had on your hands tightened.
“Can…” He whispered, making you lean a bit more forward to hear him better. “Can we trade gloves?…” Your cheeks burned red at his sudden utterance. “I thought you didn’t like these gloves?” You asked with a nervous laugh. Souichi didn’t respond. He did think it was an ugly color, but it was the color you had chosen for him.
Slightly pulling him closer, you guided Souichi’s hands to hold onto your shoulders. “How about we trade one glove?” You suggested, taking the glove off your dominant hand. When you finished, you put your hands on his shoulders, allowing him to do the same. Souichi smiled as he looked down at his now mismatched gloves.
Holding tightly onto each other’s hands again, you started to skate. Souichi listened with a smile as you gave him advice on how he could skate a bit better. But ultimately, he just wanted to keep holding onto you, even if it meant making a fool of himself.
Finally making it to the other end of the rink, you slowed your pace down and guided Souichi to take ahold of the barrier.
Souichi leaned on one arm as he tried to keep his balance.
“So…Do you want to get some hot chocolate now?” You asked.
Looking down at his free hand, Souichi saw that you two had yet to let go of one another completely.
Pushing himself off the barrier once more, he quickly moved to grab your other hand. “How about we skate in the middle one more time first?”

[ 6:00 pm : rush hour ] I try going forward to you But I lose you at this dead end
.
The traffic light is still green. Changmin sighs, tapping the board flipped up by his side. It’s been green for what feels like forever - is it ever going to turn red so that he and the growing group of pedestrians around him can move across this short stretch of the street?
If he wasn’t going to meet someone, he might just take a chance in the lulls of traffic and race the cars, letting them honk angrily as he jaywalks - jay-skates? jay-boards? There probably isn’t proper terminology for that, but jay-boards sounds okay - past, flashing them a quick smile to infuriate them a little more. It’s okay. This street isn’t too crowded. The only cars that pass through are usually old businessmen making their way back home to penthouse apartments, so Changmin feels less than guilty for screwing around with their evening.
But he is meeting someone. A very special someone, in fact. Someone who told him on no account was he going to jaywalk or jay-board (he’ll have to tell you about the new word he invented when he gets to you) if it meant risking his safety. So Changmin sighs, taps his board some more, and waits at this seeming dead end of a street corner where the green light never turns red.
.
It’s alright alright alright It’s alright alright alright
.
It’s alright. Changmin smiles as the flow of traffic begins to cease, lights on the streets ahead turning red. He can wait a little longer to cross the street legally.
Anything for you, after all.
.
I’m talking in circles around you But you always pass right by
.
Changmin still can’t quite believe his luck, even months later. He doesn’t know how he managed to catch your attention, the small skater he was who stayed quiet around others, really only raising his voice in the presence of his friends.
You were the noticeable one. You were the one with the guitar slung on your back and a friendly smile always on your face. You were the one everyone had a crush on, platonic or romantic. You were the one everyone flocked around at the park on weekends, sitting on a bench, strumming the strings of your instrument with the softest grin on your lips. If it wasn’t for Younghoon accidentally tripping over your guitar and subsequently you, sending you flying into Changmin as he rolled past trying to escape the monitor chasing after him, it might never have happened. Changmin might never have had the chance to do anything more than admire you from afar.
And what would’ve happened then?
.
It’s alright alright alright Who cares? I’m alright
.
But who cares? Changmin grins. It’s alright, yeah? Because you noticed him anyway, and even if he got a detention for skating indoors, it was worth it when you offered to buy him a coffee in apology for inadvertently getting him caught by the hall monitor.
It was the coffee that turned him into even more of a stuttering mess than he would’ve been. It was also the coffee that gave him the bit of energy and courage he needed to keep talking anyway.
It was the coffee, ultimately, that got that blinding smile turned in his direction. And it was the coffee that got him your number for future conversations, future meetups at the park, and eventually, a date.
The light turns green. Changmin nimbly leaps on his skateboard and rolls across the street, grinning.
Who cares about how it happened, in the end? As long as it did.
.
Everyone tries to get your attention One by one, honking at you
.
Honking sounds follow Changmin down the sidewalk as he weaves around office workers rushing home, people ducking in and out of small restaurants and cafes, either alone or holding someone else’s hand. His grin widens at the sight of a laughing couple that just manages to dodge around his board, giggles undeterred by the sudden interruption.
What will it be like when he gets to you? Will the crowds at the park be as large as the ones cluttering the streets? Will he even be able to see you on your bench, surrounded as you might be with children and parents and teenagers trying to get a peek at your guitar?
.
But I hope my voice can reach you Turn that music on
.
Does it matter, though? Changmin pauses at another intersection, watching the cars go honking past. Just the same way he can pick out your voice singing above the sound of the guitar, you can pick out his eyes, smiling at you from within the crowd.
You’ve always noticed him. He’s always noticed you.
There’s no reason that should stop now.
.
I got stuck on you My heart is in chaos right now
.
God, it feels like nothing’s changed since the day he realized he had a crush on you. His heart still flutters at the sound of your voice, his lips widening in a smile at the thought of your eyes.
.
I got stuck on you As if I’m stuck in traffic
.
The traffic light turns red again. Changmin skates across the street, ignoring the impatient honking of cars that follows him down the sidewalk. It’s kind of like the traffic clogging the streets, his adoration for you - stuck in one place, going with the flow but never really seeming to move.
Though if traffic meant he could stay with you forever, he wouldn’t mind it so much, really.
.
I want drama between you and me Trying to escape this trauma
.
It’s kind of like a drama, isn’t it? Unnoticeable boy, very noticeable love interest. Though maybe the roles are flipped - very noticeable main character, unnoticeable boy - because it doesn’t feel like Changmin has ever been the protagonist of this story. You’re the main character, and he’s the love interest who will support you in everything that you do.
.
Drama with you Feeling like it’s rush hour
.
Changmin grins, feeling wind rush past his face as a car speeds past.
If this is his part in the drama, it isn’t such a bad role to play.
.
I try to jump right into you But the conversation keeps cutting off
.
His phone buzzes. Not bothering to stop - you’d yell at him for that, but it isn’t as life-threatening as jay-boarding across the street and you’re not here to scold him for it - Changmin pulls it out, deftly navigating his way around a group of office workers as he accepts the call. “Y/N?”
“Hey, Changmin.” He can hear your smile through the phone. “You on your way?”
“Of course,” he replies, almost affronted. You agreed to meet at six - why would he be late? “Why aren't you playing? Is your little concert over?” You don’t usually end early.
“No, just a lull in traffic.” Your laugh sounds like music. “I’m taking a pause and thought I’d call. Almost here?”
“Almost,” he promises, rolling to a stop at the next intersection with a sigh. “The actual traffic here is murder.”
“Okay, sounds good.” When you pause, Changmin can hear the babbling of a little kid faintly over the phone - something about guitar and please? “I’ve got to go back in a minute. See you soon?”
“Go please your audience,” he replies, smiling. “I’ll see you soon.”
“Get here safe.” You pause again. “You weren’t talking to me while on your board, right?”
Changmin stays silent. His silence is much more telling than anything he’d say, anyway.
“Changmin.”
“Y/N,” he mimics in your tone of voice. Serotonin floods his brain when you snort a laugh into the phone. “I’ll be safe, I promise.”
“You better be,” you warn. “Bye, Changmin.”
.
It’s alright alright alright Turn that music on
.
He grins, already looking forward to hearing the strumming of your guitar in person, not over the phone. “Bye, Y/N.”
.
Everyone tries to get your attention One by one, honking at you
.
Two intersections later, Changmin finally finds himself at the entrance of the park. Children and their parents still abound despite evening quickly approaching, so he keeps to the sidewalk, carefully avoiding any paths full of shouting kids. It’s okay. Changmin knows the ways to your bench better than the back of his hand. A few honking cars and yelling toddlers can’t keep him from you.
All roads lead to you in Changmin’s world, after all.
.
I got stuck on you My heart is in chaos right now
.
The expected crowd surrounds your bench when Changmin finally steps off of his board. Fridays are always the busiest days, after all - people celebrating the end of the work week with a walk in the park and, by chance, some music as well.
He hears you before he sees you, crowds obscuring your face but not your voice that carries sweetly through the air, accompanied by the strumming of your guitar. Changmin didn’t think the smile on his face could get any wider, but when the first chords reach his ears, it somehow does.
Your voice is music, even more so than the instrument in your hands.
.
I got stuck on you As if I’m stuck in traffic
.
Then your face appears in a crack between the crowd as Changmin edges his way through, eyes closed in peace as your fingers pluck easily at the guitar strings. And nothing really has changed, nothing at all, just like the traffic stuck in rush hour -
Because as he watches you sing, Changmin feels himself falling in love with you all over again.
.
I don’t wanna lose you, never I just wanna hold you all day
.
Sometimes, when Changmin sees you like this, body framed in the pink and gold and orange of the descending sun, he panics. A part of him seems to think that when the sun finally dips below the horizon to be replaced by the moon overhead, it’ll take you with it, sparkling eyes and musical voice and all. Even your guitar. Because in moments like these, it feels a little like you’re an illusion, something too perfect to be true.
But then -
Your eyes open. They search the crowd like they’ve done it a million times (perhaps they have). They meet his, and immediately the sparkle brightens until it’s even brighter than the sun overhead, and it’s then that the panic fades because Changmin knows you’re real. Knows you’re not an illusion.
What illusion would become even more beautiful, after all, just because he happened to be there?
.
Even if the numbers on the calendar switch up I’m only thinking about you
.
Day by day, week by week. The routine is the same - you two get home from school, Changmin goes to work while you go home, and if it’s a Friday or a surprisingly free weekday, he’ll meet you at the park at six, like clockwork. You’ve been doing this for months now, almost a year - if it were anything else, Changmin is sure he would’ve gotten bored at this point.
But when you smile at him again before turning to the crowd and announcing your last song, Changmin knows he could never find it in himself to be bored with this. It’s you, after all, always you.
Day by day, week by week, it’s always been you.
.
You’re swimming in my ocean The waves keep growing larger
.
You sing a last song with a lilting voice, something about oceans and sunlight and waves whirling around you like the warmest hug. Changmin’s smile softens as you sing, fingers tapping his board not out of ennui this time, but to keep the beat of the music flowing from your guitar and from your lips. The waves of your voice wrap their arms around him, growing, growing, settling soft on his skin.
.
You’re swimming in my ocean You’re on my mind
.
Waves, crashing waves that mix with laughter and warm sunlight beaming down on the water. The beach is a couple of hours away - Changmin wonders if you might like to go when summer comes and you have a little more time to spare - but it doesn’t matter, not when he’s already swimming, laughing in the ocean of your voice.
.
I got stuck on you My heart is in chaos right now
.
You finish the song with a last chord and a smile, bowing in reply to the childish shouts and claps from the audience. Changmin lifts up his board to join the applause, eyes fixed on you and you only as you turn around to finally meet his eyes.
“Hey,” he says, and he knows you hear his voice even over the applause still carrying all around you.
Your smile widens as you step forward to give him a kiss. “Hey, yourself.”
.
I got stuck on you As if I’m stuck in traffic
.
Changmin helps you pack up your guitar, helps you organize the loose change and bills that some kind people left in the case. You get excited when you realize it’s enough to treat him to a meal that you make him swear not to pay for - he’ll try to, you both know, it’s just a matter of being faster than the other - and then Changmin lifts up his board with one hand and takes yours in the other. His fingers tangle with yours automatically, a promise to never let go. “Should we go?”
You nod, smiling. “Come on.”
.
I want drama between you and me Trying to escape this trauma Drama with you
.
It really is like a drama, Changmin thinks as you two walk out of the park, hands still locked together as you enter the busy streets once more. It’s cheesy, definitely, but does it matter? It’s the only way he can describe this perfection of the moment, holding hands with you as you argue over where to eat for dinner.
Changmin leans down to kiss your nose. You laugh at the touch of his lips to your skin, fingers involuntarily squeezing his.
He swears he hears music in his ears.
.
I want drama between you and me Trying to escape this trauma
.
Definitely cheesy. Definitely a drama.
You smile at him, and his heart flutters.
But when you make him feel this way, does it really matter?
.
Drama with you feeling like it’s rush hour
.
Another light turns green before you can make it across the intersection, so Changmin pulls you to a stop before you can accidentally take the next step into the street. “Now do you know why I’m always so impatient?” he asks, casting a pointed glance at the board under his arm.
“Yeah, kind of.” You roll your eyes. “Maybe we should stop agreeing to meet at rush hour.”
Six o’clock. Peak traffic. Rush hour. Just like Changmin’s mind, forever stuck on you, waiting at a traffic light that never seems to change.
But when he’s stuck on you, it really isn’t so bad.
“I don’t know.” He shrugs. “I like it.”
Your eyes sparkle into his. Changmin squeezes your hand and smiles.
“I think we can keep it as is.”

miscellaneous MDZS/CQL fic recs (AO3)
broken into sections: Character Study (-esque), Wangxian, Jiang Cheng ships, Yi City (or Yi City-adjacent), Humor/Crack, and Other
Character Study (-esque)
Wei Wuxian
my eyes got used to the darkness by @curiosity-killed (M, Sunshot Campaign era, 4.4k): The funny thing, the thing that makes his lips curl in a grin and his hands shake with laughter, is that all these cultivators with their lofty principles and noble ambitions can’t even notice the ghost among them. Sure, they shiver at his presence and flinch from his cold hands, but not one of them puts it together. Lan Wangji chases him with healing music and Nie Mingjue frowns solemnly at his dancing corpses—and he laughs and laughs and laughs because they just don’t get it. Emilu's commentary: CW for mild body horror.
Jiang Cheng
in our respective ways by @veliseraptor (T, Sunshot Campaign era, 5.7k): Jiang Cheng has his golden core back. But he seems to have lost Wei Wuxian.
You Know I've Fallen, but I Know How High by villainais (M, Post-WWX's death, 2.7k): Jiang Cheng loses both of his siblings in Nightless City. Minutes apart. He trudges home to Yunmeng with one body, holds a private funeral with a single coffin, and allows himself to wear his mourning robes for ten days—permits himself not a single day more. He is still too young and inexperienced, an unfledged boy to the cultivation world, and he is rebuilding Lotus Pier on his own. He will not gift the other sect leaders the satisfaction of seeing him vulnerable. Propriety be damned. Hanguang-jun emerges from his seclusion wearing white. He does not stop.
Nie Huaisang
it deepens like a coastal shelf by @wolffyluna (M, Post-WWX's death, 21.6k): When Nie Huaisang meets Mo Xuanyu, he realises two things quickly. One, this kid is so doomed. Two, this kid would be a great unwitting spy in his plans to bring down Jin Guangyao. It would be so easy to get into Mo Xuanyu's confidences, and so easy to get him to tell him anything he needs. ...only thing is, that wouldn't be very good for Mo Xuanyu's life expectancy. But he'll do it anyway, if it helps him avenge his brother. A fic about man handing on misery to man, the parallels and cycles in the relationships between Jin Guangyao and Nie Huaisang and Mo Xuanyu, and the lengths these characters will go to meet their goals and if there are lines they won't cross.
Lan Xichen
an old man in dried mouths by @tenacious-minds (T, Post-Canon, 3.3k): Xichen thinks. The tea had always stained the crockery red. Emilu's commentary: Lan Xichen and Jin Ling talk about Jin Guangyao.
can you be a quiet man? by @basket-of-loquats (Unrated, Post-Canon, 70.7k+) But something inside him snapped at Guanyin Temple-- and Lan Wangji watched it happen, saw the exact moment that Lan Xichen went from broken to shattered, when he buried his sword into Jin Guangyao’s chest, when his sworn brother stared up at him with wide eyes, blood dripping from his mouth, when he pulled himself closer and closer and closer-- When he whispered "Why don’t you die with me?", and Lan Xichen hadn’t argued. Emilu's commentary: Lan Xichen / therapy with a side of Wangxian.
Wen Ning
breathless (but i'll pretend to breathe for you) by swordsainted (T, Burial Mounds Settlement era, 4.1k): Wei Wuxian is silent for a long minute, and then he looks at Wen Ning, something raw and open and hurting behind his eyes. “I’m sorry,” he says again, softer this time, and Wen Ning shakes his head, still smiling. “You’ve protected everyone. How could I hate you for that?”
Mo Xuanyu
stand at the pit's mouth by @eldritch-elrics (M, MXY's death, 9.3k): The dreams and regrets of a man on the edge of oblivion. Emilu's commentary: Surrealist/absurdist screenplay.
Wangxian
I would wait for a thousand years by bleuett (T, Immortality Post-Canon, 10.4k): During the worst of winter, a traveler comes to stay at Lan Wangji's inn. He wears a red ribbon in his hair. “Do you see the rabbit?” Wei Ying asks and points at the moon. “That’s the moon rabbit, he helps make Chang’e more immortality elixir. He keeps Chang’e company.” “I do not wish the rabbit for company,” Lan Wangji says tightly. “You are the one I want by my side.” “And I’m here, Lan Zhan. If you go to the moon, I’ll follow you, I’ll always be here now.” Emilu's commentary: Lan Wangji meets Wei Wuxian centuries later and does not remember the past. There is also an excellent podfic by @forgotten-envies
Look Not With The Eyes by Spodumene (G, Post-Canon, 28.1k): Wei Wuxian returns from his travels to join Lan Wangji on a routine night hunt, but when things take an unexpected turn, Wei Wuxian will have to fight for what he's really looking for. Emilu's commentary: Case fic.
All In A Good Time by bigboobedcanuck (E, Post-Canon, 8k): Lan Zhan is struck by a curse that brings him intense physical pain unless he's being touched. He is stoic and tries to hide his suffering. Wei Wuxian is worried and protective. Perhaps they will finally admit their feelings?
Across a Lake of Glass by Zizzani (E, Figure Skating AU, 92.2k+): Each year, Gusu Skating Club runs a camp for only the most elite athletes of each region. This year brings a new skater from the Yunmeng Club who wears skates lined with red and a smile made for war. He skates like a demon. Figure skating au featuring lots of healthy rivalry, pre and post-competition bonding, and an inexplicable fall from grace through the eyes of the media.
Jiang Cheng Ships
Chengqing
display my heart for you to see by @souridealist (M, Post-Canon Wen Qing Lives AU, 5.5k): Jiang Cheng has his own secrets. Some of them are part of the unburied past; some of them are about how long it's been since anyone has touched him.
while I'm in this body by @souridealist (E, Post-Lotus Pier Massacre, 3.9k): For just a few minutes, alone in her office, Wen Qing allows her self-control to slip enough to cry. It's just her luck that that's when Jiang Cheng comes looking for her. Emilu's commentary: Femdom.
Chengning
it may be that it doesn't matter by @wildehacked (T, Post-Canon, 6.6k) “Are you crying?” Jiang Wanyin asks him, and Wen Ning frowns. Pats his cheek with one hand. “No.” Emilu's commentary: Holy Grail of Chengning.
Whatever It Is by morau (E, Post-Canon, 20.5k): It starts, as with a lot of things, with a very poorly thought out prank, courtesy of Wei Wuxian. Emilu's commentary: A LOT of sex and even more emotions lol
won't run away (we're here to stay) by @qi-ling (T, Post-Canon, 3.5k): "Please don't feel any pressure to accept this, and you can take as much time as you need to think about it." It's a set of robes, in shades of deep purple, complete with leather bracers. Cut in a different style than that of the disciples or household staff, closer to the understated robes Wen Ning typically wears. He reaches out to feel the fabric. His deadened nerves can't sense delicate textures well, but even he can tell it's of a quality on par to Wanyin's own wardrobe. This is startling enough coming from Jiang Wanyin, but then Wen Ning notices the belt. In particular, the silver bell in the shape of a lotus affixed to it. Only recognized members of the Jiang sect may wear the clarity bell. Or, Jiang Cheng has an invitation for Wen Ning.
Zhancheng
By Proxy by @veliseraptor (E, Post-WWX's death, 12k): Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji, looking for comfort in all the wrong places. Emilu's commentary: Hate sex that made me cry
Yi City (or Yi City-adjacent)
Songxuexiao
Heaven Has A Road But No One Walks It by @silvysartfulness (M, Post-Yi City arc Canon Divergence, 123k+): One of the most complex spells of demonic cultivation the world has seen is brought to fruition, and Xiao Xingchen draws his first shaking breaths in over seven years. This, it turns out, is only the start of his problems. Emilu's commentary: Pretty sure everyone already knows about Silvy's happy songxuexiao road trip fic but it has to be here.
Xue Yang & Lan Xichen
Hours On Empty series by @lady-of-the-lotus (M to E, Post-Canon, 57.8k+): AU where Wei Wuxian never came to Yi City and Xue Yang is still running around post-canon disguised as Xiao Xingchen. "Fractured Ice" - Xue Yang whisks a nihilistic Lan Xichen off on a murder roadtrip to raise Xiao Xingchen and Meng Yao from the grave. Because that will solve all of their problems, right? "Control" - "Fractured Ice" retold from Xue Yang's pov. "A Thousand Miles In Its Light" - Alternate ending to "Fractured Ice" and "Control"
Songxiao with Xuexiao Flashbacks
Nothing Beside Remains by @eldritch-elrics (T, Post-Yi City arc Canon Divergence, 21.9k): And Xiao Xingchen is dressed in dark clothing that is not his, and his sight is all of a sudden sharp in a way that it has never been before, and Xue Yang is not here. “He wouldn’t,” he breathes. “No, he wouldn’t do that. He’s too—” “He’s too what?” Wei Wuxian steps a foot closer, face hard-set. “Too cruel? Or too kind?” Or: Xue Yang uses the Sacrifice Summon on Xiao Xingchen. Xiao Xingchen lives with the consequences.
Humor/Crack
The Hangover: A pre-wedding Dramedy series by natcat5 (M, Modern AU, 51.6k): It is not a bachelor party. That was made clear on all the invitations. It is a congratulatory get together for Jin Zixuan, attended by his family, the family of the bride, and the young masters of the other two families in their circle. The gathering is not to go later than midnight, everyone must drink in moderation, and no one is allowed to be hungover tomorrow. Wei Wuxian had promised Yanli, three fingers in the air. Jiang Cheng had rolled his eyes, but promised as well. Saturday morning, Nie Huaisang and Jiang Cheng wake up alone in a hotel room, missing shoes, phones, and almost all their memories of what in the world happened last night. Also missing: Wei Wuxian, brother of the bride, Lan Wangji, esteemed guest, Lan Xichen, esteemed guest, Jin Zixun, cousin of the groom, Jin Guangyao, brother and best-man, Jin Zixuan, THE GROOM, who is due at his bride-to-be's house in six hours. That's plenty of time to find everyone...right?
Jiang Cheng Loves Jar Jar Bombad Mui by @lady-of-the-lotus (G, Post-Canon, 1.7k) Jar Jar Binks washes up on the shores of Lotus Pier. Can he win the lonely Jiang Cheng's proud heart? Neb neb answer is yesa. Emilu's commentary: There's also a podfic by @aowyn. Yes, with a Jar Jar voice.
Other
Nie Huaisang & Wen Ning
By Name by nirejseki (G, Post-Canon, 1.3k): After the traumatic events in the now-collapsed temple, Wen Ning lingered behind and unexpectedly saw Nie Huaisang, the undisputed victor of an all-around terrible evening, sitting on the steps of the temple, looking exhausted and miserable, as if he’d won nothing at all. Wen Ning found himself drifting over to him.
Jiang Yanli & Nie Mingjue
utility by magicites (G, Arranged Marriage AU, 2.3k): Jiang Yanli and Nie Mingjue's wedding is a political one — a gesture of unity between their Sects. A way for her parents to finally get some use out of the plain-faced sham of a cultivator they call a daughter. “Jiang-guniang,” Nie Mingjue says, and the formality in such a setting as intimate as their wedding chambers startles her, “I don’t wish to bed you. Or any other woman, for that matter. It isn’t fair for you to live alone because of my own preferences.” She rests her hand on his arm, cool relief flooding her body like water on a summer afternoon. “If it helps, I don’t feel desire for men,” she whispers.
Jin Guangyao / Nie Huaisang
Pulling Strings by @eldritch-elrics (E, Post-WWX's death, 5k): Nie Huaisang, quite drunk, turns up at Jin Guangyao’s door one night with an unexpected request. Emilu's commentary: Nie Huaisang knows Jin Guangyao killed Nie Mingjue. This interaction is more symbolic than anything else...

I Won't Forget The Good Times.
Hey! This is Kirishima Fluff! <3
CW: fem!reader and Kirishima’s date doesn’t go as planned but that doesn’t stop them from having a romantic moment in the rain.
This is based on the song, “Good Times by All Time Low.”
Reader has female pronouns. I hope you guys like it!
----
The rain began to slow down, the sky dimming to an orange sunset. The clouds still obstruct the view but if you look close enough you can see it's afterglow. Kirishima holds onto (y/n)'s hand, using the other to shield her from the rain with his umbrella. The two had plans to go on a date but the rain came out of nowhere. As they're walking back to their dorms, a familiar melody seeps through the door of a coffee shop. (y/n)'s ears perk up, and a smile rises on her face.
"On a fault line, late night
Underneath the stars, we came alive
And singing to the sky just felt right
I won't forget the good times."
She stops in her tracks, leaving Kirishima to stumble forward. He turns around, hand still locked with hers. She had a devious smile on her face, as she pulls him closer to her.
"What are y-?"
“While the punks started picking fights
With the skater kids under city lights
Remember how we laughed 'til we cried
I won't forget the good times.”
The words fall from her lips as if she'd sung it a hundred times over. Kirishima raises an eyebrow but can't hold back his happiness seeing her smile so brightly. She pulls away from him, ducking under his arm, and spinning out from under the umbrella.
"I never want to leave this sunset town
But one day the time may come
And I'll take you at your word
And carry on
I'll hate the goodbye...
But I won't forget the good times
I won't forget the good times."
The few passerby's take notice of the couple, a few giving odd stares as she sings along. The red-haired boy couldn't contain his giggle, as she steps away from him into the rain. He shuts the umbrella following her to where the music was coming from.
"Bare-knuckled, tight lip
Middle fingers up, ego trip."
He wraps an arm around her waist when they finally find the source of the music. She turns around, mouthing the words while dramatically caressing his cheek. His cheeks were coated with blush.
"Devil may care but we didn't mind
I won't forget the good times
We're the boys in black smoking cigarettes
Chasing girls who didn't know love yet
As the bonfire mood came down
I won't forget the good times."
He can feel the eyes on him, but he's too transfixed by how pretty she looks. The rain playing off her hair, the tender pink on her cheeks, the look of complete and utter devotion in her eyes. Kirishima never felt so needed, so at home, and so love drunk.
"I never want to leave this sunset town
But one day the time may come
And I'll take you at your word
And carry on
I'll hate the goodbye
But I won't forget the good times
I won't forget the good times."
She slowly comes closer, wrapping her arms around his shoulders, pulling his face close to hers. Their noses brush and the entire world becomes their background noise. At that moment, love was the only thing these two people had known. And Kirishima would be damned if anyone were to take that away from him.
She brings her lips inches away from his before softly whispering the next lines of the song.
"When we laughed
When we cried
Those were the days
We owned the night
Wiped away
Lost in time..."
Kirishima pulls her into a kiss, pushing her wet hair out of her face. They were both very damp due to the rain but he couldn't let this moment slip away. This was the moment every lovestruck person would die for. The moment that he realized she would be his reason to keep going. To keep fighting and pushing forward. He had something to protect and someone he needed to come home to. This was the moment he knew he loved her, and the moment he decided she's the one he wants to spend the rest of his life with.

28, 31, and 32 for Willex for the kiss prompts
KISS PROMPTS (closed) 28 + 31 +32. One person tracing the other’s lips with a fingertip until they can’t resist any longer, tilting their chin towards them for a kiss + Pulling away from a kiss, whispering words of love against each other’s lips + A kiss so passionate, so perfect - that after they part, neither person can open their eyes for a few moments afterwards
(canon)
If Willie’s afterlife wasn’t on the line, he’d be begging to be warped back to that dark room so he could cry and hyperventilate in peace. Alas, it was Willie and Alex was pretty sure he was sort of in love with the guy - crying was no option right now. Afterwards, whether there was a good or bad outcome, he’d cry. A lot.
The plan sounded easy. It did, because it was made up by Luke and Reggie (under supervision by Julie, but angels could only do so much) and their one track mind didn’t take the dozen things that could go wrong into account.
Sneak into the HGC, challenge Caleb to a musical battle, find Willie while the diversion was happening, get out. They didn’t know how big the club truly was, they didn’t know if Willie was there, they didn’t know if he… (he couldn’t think like that) and, on top of that, they were taking a huge risk returning to the crime scene.
That man was the Devil and he had managed to lure them right into his snake pit without breaking a sweat. It was terrifying.
Alex wished he was like his brothers. They were scared, sure, but it didn’t cripple them to a numbing fear. His muscles were so tight, he could snap.
Julie noticed though. As the boys were preparing their riffs, she sat beside him on the couch. She didn’t say anything, but having her there was enough. (And if she intentionally deepened her breathing, all rhythmic and soothing, she didn’t mention it and neither did he. It helped.)
“Alright, boys,” Luke called out, body kinetic and twitching with energy. “Let’s get this show on the road!”
Reggie hollered, plucking a few snares on his bass to accompany Luke’s laugh. Julie squeezed Alex’ hand and then hoisted him up when he didn’t move.
Shooting them all a stern look, she said: “Be careful, please. Please don’t… do anything stupid.”
“Julie-”
“Luke, please,” she pressed, nodding at the blonde. “No impulsive moves. Not right now.”
The guitarist slowly nodded, eyes flicking from the girl to the nervous drummer and then back to her. It seemed to mellow him down a bit, Alex utterly grateful she had him wrapped around her finger.
Luke’s following words were hollow in his head, echoing in and out as his chest clenched and twisted up in a splintering knot. He knew he should be focusing, knew it would do him good hearing the plan again, to have it fresh in his mind, but he simply couldn’t.
He just wanted Willie back. He promised he’d follow him and he wasn’t ready for the intense guilt if he couldn’t fulfil that.
“Okay,” Alex interrupted his friend’s spiel. “Let’s do it.”
Luke’s brows raised in surprise and nodded, Reggie holding out his hands for them to hold. Julie took a step back and pressed a brave smile on her face. If he had any space in his mind to check in on her, he would.
The bassist bid her a cheery goodbye - always the best one at faking confidence - and then they poofed out.
Reappearing in front of the club, they took a collective breath. Because they were previously affected by Caleb, its lingering powers gave them the skill to still teleport to the hidden location. It was a loophole, something he hoped would save their asses again and again, for as long as they were on earth.
Their entire afterlife existence was one fucking loophole. (Stop stressing about it! Focus on Willie!)
(He could really scream in a museum right now.)
“Reg and I are gonna sneak in, cause a riot-”
“Hell yeah.”
“-and play like motherfucking rockstars,” Luke continued, gaze pointedly fixed on Alex. “You can do it, Alex. You know him better than anyone, you’re gonna know where he is.”
“Yeah, bud,” added Reggie. “Just follow the scent of your sweet, sweet boy. Or skid marks. Whatever. Or-”
He raised his hand. “Yeah, okay,” a shuddering breath paused his words, “thanks, Reg.”
Everything went really fast and agonisingly slow at once. His heart quickened its pace with each passing second, to the point where he wasn’t sure he’d make it back out. His friends ran inside and started kicking down chairs and tables, interrupting the performance of the menacing Caleb.
Meanwhile, Alex slipped by on the periphery of the club, skittish eyes trying to find doors and hallways and stairs - anywhere that wasn’t meant for the public. It felt like someone was chasing him, like Caleb was already going after him when the electrifying riffs of Luke were clearly audible and piercing through intrusive thoughts.
Focus. Focus on Willie. Save Willie.
Doors slammed open and close, all devoid of people or ghosts. Some rooms caused a chill down his spine at the sight of utter darkness, reminded of the twenty-five years he had hopelessly cried.
Running up and down stairs, turning corners in winding hallways, endless and long and messy. He had no clue how he should go back, if he was cornering himself.
Alex froze. Was he falling into a trap? Had this been Caleb’s plan all along? Oh, God. He should go back. He should find his way back to daylight, not look back and move on. This was too much, too much for a seventeen year old to handle. He couldn’t…
Frustration poured from his throat into an angry shout. No! He should do this! If Willie risked everything, if Willie got buses to disappear into the desert, if Willie tried protecting him over and over again-
Alex screamed again. Louder and louder and louder.
And then he heard it. Faint.
“Alex?”
His breath hitched in his throat. No way. No fucking way. Cautiously, his feet followed the sound of the voice. It sounded like the skater, but he couldn’t be completely sure until he saw his face. Who knew what other tricks Caleb had up his sleeve?
He gulped. “Willie?”
“Alex!”
It came from another hallway, echoing and warped. Right as he was about to turn the corner, sensing a presence, his voice called out.
“Wait! You can’t… you can’t look at me. If you do, I won’t be able to escape.”
Confusion riddled his thoughts. “The hell?”
Willie sighed. “It’s- Caleb put a curse on me. No one is allowed to look at me.” The voice came closer. Still warped, like it was disembodied. “You have to trust that I’m following you.”
“I don’t know my way back,” Alex cried out.
“I’ll help, Hotdog,” he said, the blonde imagining that signature crooked smile pulling on his lips. “Turn around and don’t look back at me. I’ll be there.”
Oh, man. This was a horrible time to start trusting his gut. But if a spontaneous solo yelling match got him to find Willie, then he should try this too. Spinning on his heels, he waited ‘til he felt something, anything, to indicate he was there. It didn’t happen. Unsure if he should call out for him, he started the trek.
The closer he came back to his starting point, the more he noticed how the music was dying out. No guitar or bass that shredded through walls, no jazzy scatting that overpowered it. There was noise, but no distinct sound could be picked out. It felt like a haunted house.
All the while, Willie nudged him around the right corners and up the right stairs. Wordlessly, that was. Somehow, he could feel it. Felt his guidance, as if a thin thread looped around him tugged him forward. (Or maybe, he just had a lot of practising chasing him around that it was like muscle memory.)
After a few minutes, his surroundings became familiar. The air became thicker, the lights brighter. He still didn’t feel anyone behind him. From the corner of his eye did he see Luke and Reggie sprinting out the club. Correction: the demolished club. They really weren’t playing when they said they’d cause a riot. Fucking hooligans.
Running for the door, he didn’t think about Caleb capturing them or Willie’s lack of body or anything. All he wanted to do was hold Willie again. Hug him. Kiss him.
The drummer jumped over the threshold into broad daylight, Luke and Reggie hollering in victory when he did. Alex was stiff though, waiting. Anticipating. Did he follow? Was he still there?
“I don’t know what’s going to happen if I leave without his permission, Alex,” Willie suddenly croaked out.
His eyes screwed tight, clenching his fists and jaw and holding his ground. “We’ll figure it out, Willie,” he spit. “Please.”
All of a sudden, the boy crashed into his back with a blasting force, nearly teetering them to the ground. Warm arms wrapped around him, fingers curling into the strap of his fanny pack and twisting his body.
And there he was, with gleaming eyes and a beautiful smile: Willie.
Alex scrambled back on his feet and lurched forward, snatching him into a tight embrace. Tears burst up at the feel of his skin and dark locks and- and he was here. He was safe.
“What happened?” he whispered. “What did he do?”
“Put me in a harder curse to crack,” he mumbled, “but I knew you could do it, Hotdog.”
He laughed, the sound wet and choked, and gripped onto his shoulders. Pulling away, he still couldn’t believe he was here. His hands wandered to his face, unable to keep himself from tracing his forehead and jaw to make sure that he was here. To make sure his mind wasn’t playing tricks on him. Willie let him; a fond smile blooming.
And when his nail went past his bottom lip, he stopped thinking entirely.
Alex tilted his chin and as Willie’s smile grew, softly kissed him on the lips. He’s never kissed anyone before, but this seemed right. Willie was right. And man, did it feel good.
Afraid of the overwhelming sensation - of the warmth and the lightness in his head and the beat of his heart that stuttered but in a good way - he pulled away, fingers still around his chin and noses brushing.
An elated puff mingled with Willie’s breath. “Should I have told you first that I like you? Oh, shit. Should I have asked?”
The boys behind him whooped and whistled. When he turned and told them to fuck off, they actually listened for once. Luke disappeared in a snap, Reggie following suit right after with a suggestive smirk and wink. Idiot.
Hands snaked around his neck and swivelled him back to Willie’s grinning face. Before he could react, Willie pulled him down to his level and captured him into a searing kiss. His body moved on its own accord, coaxing them closer and deepening the kiss and allowing that avalanche of emotions to crash into him. These feelings were good. They weren’t supposed to scare him; this was good. Willie was good.
Fuck it, he was perfect.
It left him breathless and speechless, lips puckered in a daze and unable to open his eyes once Willie lessened his hold. Their foreheads pressed together instead, an enamoured smile twitching to explode in that goofy way he always mocked Luke for.
“I like you too, Alex,” he whispered. “A lot.”
He opened his eyes and was met with his bright smile, his own slowly cracking open. Green peered into brown. He could stand here forever, but he knew the boys and Julie were waiting, knew Caleb was on the prowl somewhere.
Their hands laced together. It didn’t take a lot for Alex to confidently smile at him. Right now, no anxiety could ruin his mood. Willie was here. Willie was safe. Willie liked him - a lot.
“C’mon,” he said, “I wanna introduce you to someone.”

00′s Love (Sungchan x you)
a/n : I DID IT!! @starsfly01091711 this one’s for you! A second part to 90′S LOVE
SECOND PART OF 90′S LOVE (Thank you for the much love this story received)
warning : some mentions of forced dietary (not allowed to eat), slight angst, HAPPY ENDING!! I kinda liked the ending, so please if you’re okay with the theme go on read this and tell me what do you think about the ending!
here we goo
Moving on was hard, even when you have been hurt by the past and the present is waiting for you to reach for their hand and walk forward to the future with them.
Mark Lee was your first crush, and everything about a first crush makes it harder for you to realize he was not the one and that you should stop gawking over him and his boyfriend. They look cute, as much as you hate to admit it, Haechan brings a big smile to Mark. A smile you could never see when he is with you.
“(Y/n)!” your instructor yells one more time at you. You shake your head from the daydream and stutter “Yes?”
“Dozing off again? Are you sure you can follow today, you seem a little bit under the weather.” Your instructor skates to you and plants his palm over your temple.
You laugh dryly, “No, I’m okay. I am not sick,” you drop your tone, but deep inside your heart you want to add up “I am not okay, imagine learning your crush has a boyfriend, you have to prepare for the state championship, and you’re just not feeling well inside your heart.”
“Okay, we can take a break if you really need it, but buying more time is what we need. The championship is in three months and its been your dream to participate in one.” He tries to cheer you up.
You nod, “I got this, shall we repeat from the top?”
He nods and turns the music on. You begin dancing on ice, over the soft song of A Silent Voice (Koe no Katachi) and with the sad violin music you close your eyes as you feel the sad song and let your body do its magic on ice.
Your routine ends, all the jumps are perfect and all the spins are gracious. You have to thank yourself for pushing your younger self to the limit in order to reach this point. But something is hollow in your heart, something is missing.
You end the routine and open your eyes, only to let a teardrop fall.
“That was good, your techniques are wonderful but where is the emotion?” your instructor asks as he skates next to you. You wipe the tear and look to your feet.
“I am sorry,” you mutter
“You do know just a great technique won’t help you right?” Taeyong Lee, your best choreographer and instructor sighs.
“Clear your head, you really look … I don’t know… you’re not like you. I will say you take a break today and tomorrow come back only if your heart is okay.” He dismisses you like that and you have your head down while entering the locker room.
“Hey (y/n)~ why the long face?” Sungchan taps your shoulder and goes shocked when he sees your hollow eyes.
“Oh Sungchan-ie,” you force a smile to your face.
“I miss Ten hyung,” Sungchan calmly says while taking out his practice gears from the locker.
You froze in track, oh so someone did miss Ten too. Ten hyung left you to pursue a dream he was chasing. He was offered a scholarship to train and be one of the professional hockey athlete in NEO University. Your parents of course sent him away, with all the proud and happy faces sending their first son to a prestigious school while you, you’re staying here with them alone living through cold nights.
“Can you stop hogging the dinner table, you won’t be going to the championship with that eating behaviour.” Your mother looks at you with disgust as she takes away your plate.
You wanted to complain, how could one let her own child starve, but here you are. Forced to count your calories intake for your upcoming championship. Well, you had to thank her she just wanted the best for you, but what she was doing was a bit over the line.
“Oh my, I was a figure skater myself, and let me tell you we skip dinner.” Your mother said as she cuts you an apple.
Your father always come home late, he has to work extra hours to pay for Ten’s extra living costs, while also supporting your school and athletic life. Mom was a figure skater back then, a great one, until she reached the age of stopping skating. She opened courses for beginner skaters, but she doesn’t want to teach you herself. Mainly because she said a younger trainer will know more than her. Weird? No its also because you don’t want to be tortured by her.
“Now, finish up the fruit and go study or do some more stretches.” She stood away from the table and preoccupied herself into other things.
You missed your old family, where four of you would sit around the table, eating joyfully over luscious or even simple dish. But now, you rarely have anyone to sit with even worse forced to eat just fruits.
“Yeah I also miss Ten.” You finally speak about the truth today to Sungchan.
“When is he coming back?” Sungchan asks you and he has already put on his hockey costume, you didn’t notice that! Taeyong was right why are you so out of your head today.
“He is trying to come home on my competition day.” You fiddle with your hand, suddenly feeling how cold your hands are. You shrug it off as the skating rink’s fault
“Cool, by the way the boys and I are going to grab some tteokbokki after practice, want to join?” he nicely invites you.
You want to go so bad, but imagine the calories and no even worse what will mother say if she saw you eat? But Sungchan has been trying his best to always look after you, especially after he said Ten personally pleaded for Sungchan to look after you.
“I’ll see, if mom is not able to pick me up yet, I can wait and probably join.” You try to make the tall guy smile, he is the sweetest person you have right now. Might as well hold on to him and not let him go, right? Luck was in his side, your mom cannot pick you up that early so you waited for the boys. Your eyes most of the time are focused to Sungchan’s tall figure, but still a glance or two on seeing Mark won’t hurt right? Apparently it hurts. A lot, even more as you think of how silly you looked like to Mark.
“Thank you for waiting,” Sungchan pinches your cheek first thing first after the team laughs along their way to the locker.
You shrug your shoulder “What else can I do?”
Sungchan notices the way your cheek feels different, “Yak why are your cheeks gone?” he quirks an eyebrow
You raise your brow, bewildered that you actually loss weight to that point, “Uh is it? No. you’re just imagining things.” You push him to change with the others and he joins them, but when you take a glance to your reflection you cannot disagree him.
“(y/n) you should eat!” Mark notices how you were quiet when they were shouting of what to order.
You jolt in surprise, “Ah yeah, don’t mind me, I will just order later, not that hungry now.” You smile to him.
“No way a person can stay sane after a skating class. You eat, don’t refuse.” Haechan suddenly speaks ending all of your thoughts. He ordered one for each and you just lose it, “I am in a diet!”
“Just one portion won’t hurt!” Haechan desperately puts his puppy eyes on for you.
“She can share with me, if that makes her more comfortable.” Sungchan calmly glances at you and raises his brow.
“She will share with me,” Sungchan speaks for you when you do not let out any rebuttal.
He understands, Sungchan is magical, in a way that you don’t have to speak your mind out loud, but he can grasp what you want to say. Words you speak in silence, within one look of an eye he understands. Does he secretly have the ability to read mind?
When the hot meal was served, the boys all quickly savour the hot food in front of them. They look super happy and you gasp when Sungchan hands you a fork with tteok in front of your lips.
“Eat up!” he smiles and that makes you finally open your mouth and eat the first yummy food in two months.
“I can eat by myself” you blush when the other members throw both of you a cheesy smile.
“Mark me too! Feed me too” Haechan attempted aegyo and that only earned him a smack from Jeno.
“It’s cute when (y/n) and Sungchan did it, but not you.” Jeno teases the couple and that make the team laughs, you cannot hold your laughter too and somehow laughing makes your shoulder feels lighter.
“You just finish two bars, please at least eat four for me…” Sungchan pleads when he finishes his half or more like three of a quarter. Yang yang is already eyeing your side of the plate, still full of fishcakes and tteoks.
“I am full,” you put your fork down but before you can say anything Mark already poke a fork on one of the red bars and offer it to your mouth “If you do not want to eat for you nor Sungchan, eat for me.” His hand is still hovering, and you glance to Haechan, who just sends you a nod of approval, “You don’t have to do this,” you sigh but take the fork instead.
“You eat, or we will do that one by one.” Said WInwin.
Your eyes pop open “It’s embarrassing! Okay I’ve had three! It’s enough… really… I beg you all, thanks.” You smile when they give up
The team separate way and Sungchan walks with you back home.
“Have you always been like this?” Sungchan asks as two of you walk under the moonlight.
You smile and he answers himself “No, you like tteokbokki. Is it because you still cannot move on?”
You smack your lips “I’ve moved on. Just can’t eat much because of the upcoming competition.”
Sungchan stops in track and looks at you deep into your soul “Mother?”
You force a smile “Aiya no way, how could a mother starve their children?! What will the world say?” you laugh out loud but Sungchan stays serious. He shakes his head and holds your hand tightly “Don’t laugh. It’s not funny.” He glances to your shaky hand in his bigger palm, “You were starved!”
You roll your eyes “Not starve. You exaggerated that one.” Though you secretly want to yell and ask him to just bring you foods everyday… but you know you’ll get embarrassed if people find out your mom did this to you.
“I just have to hold on for some months Sungchan, don’t worry.”
He gives up convincing you to eat more when you’re out with him, but he failed. And for once he wanted to turn back time and blamed himself for not forcing you to eat whenever he has the chance.
--
“You were too sick for practice” Sungchan worriedly sits on your side when you’re tying up your skates. His practice is always after yours, but for the last two months he had been coming to cheer you up on your practice and bring you small foods.
“I am not sick,” you chuckle and wipe a sweat that falls over your head.
“You’re having a cold sweat (y/n), this is not right.” He rummages his bag and takes out one piece of apple “Please,”  he pushes his hand out to you and you shake your head “I can’t. I have to warm up, see you prince.” You lean in to kiss his cheek and his eyes twinkle for a moment but its soon gone when he sees your fragile poorly fed body slides on the ice rink.
Yes he has brought the relationship up by a notch with you 2 months ago. he’s been a wonderful supportive boyfriend and you would not change him for anyone, not even mark!
Sungchan knows you like his own little sister, he knows your behaviour and he knows how you hide your emotions well. What he doesn’t like is how you can perfectly lie into his face and sometimes he bought it. Like now, you lied about being okay but he can clearly see you looking super tired in the rink.
Sungchan leaves the benchmark and runs when he sees you stopping in the middle of your routine.
“You should eat.” He forces you a bar of chocolate when you reach the chair and finishes a glass of water. “Please eat for me.” He unwraps the bar and pushes it into your lips.
He did not let you eat half, he didn’t want to regret more. He’s been frustrated about your health and he wants to change it. Now it looks like you’re already affected by your mom’s unhealthy diet and he doesn’t want his girl to fall sick or even ruin her body with this kind of lifestyle.
When the bar is done, he offers you a sweet tea and you shake your head refusing his drink. He sighs “Come on, do I have to force this into your mouth?” he twists the bottle open and almost gulps down the drink and you quickly shake your head “I DON’T WANT.”
He quirks his brow “What? You think I’ll force this mouth to mouth? Sexy but nahh I’m not doing it here, there’s minors.” He wiggles his brow and you punch his shoulder.
“Is that all you got? Gosh (y/n) that punch is so weak. Eat more.” He teases you when you angrily grab the drink and gulps half of it.
You feel better, your sugar level is back to normal and you no longer feel cranky. Well, earlier you were cranky to your trainer and that must be because of this.
“Better now?” he asks when you lean into his shoulder. You nod “I was mad earlier, coach kept on telling me I made mistakes.”
Sungchan rubs your hair “Did you though?” You blush and fiddle with your skirt “Well I did. I am just too tired to repeat everything.” You lean your whole body into him and straighten your legs.
Sungchan grabs your hand and kisses the palm “Come on, your sugar level should be better now. Go nail the practice and I’ll bring you for a good dinner. We can have one cheat day right?” he winks and you laugh. Tempted so much by the dinner and feel fluttery because Sungchan can never stop surprising you with small cute romantic actions.
“I know your mom won’t be mad for one meal. I’ll be the one responsible if she is mad!” he sounds so sincere and you can’t hold back your laughter.
“I found myself a great man, didn’t I?” you pinch his cheek and he only kiss your hand “And I found myself a cute princess to take care of.”
Your mood is boosted and you get up from the chair “Watch me prepare for top three! Or Gold as mom said” you roll your eyes and ump down into the rink.
Sungchan stands on the side of the rink and gives you a thumbs up “I am aiming to see you enjoy ad express yourself on ice!”
Your heart softens at that, that was new! Everyone always encourage you for Gold or silver, or perfect performance.. but Jung Sungchan, the star who waits for you when you’re too engaged with the moon. The star in your dark night, the star of your heart, love of your life? He comes up with a new motivation. Not gold, not silver, not even bronze. He did not ask for a perfect performance, but for you, the love of his life, to enjoy and express yourself on ice.
You can’t wait to nail the rest of your practice and wait for his hockey lesson to finish. Well, you will have to kiss him for his encouraging words, thank him for a great dinner (though you did not know yet what you’ll be eating, but you know it’s gonna be great with him) and of course for reminding you the purpose of life. To enjoy and express yourself.
Your coach heard that too and he comes to whisper “So, I guess you did find the right one. Ready to start over and enjoy yourself?”
You nod and stare into Sungchan with stars in your eyes, “Ready.”
Epilogue
“WHEN I SAY ONE CHEAT DAY, I DON’T MEAN THIS.” You stare in horror at your boyfriend who brings you to an all you can eat restaurant.
He shrugs his shoulder “I am hungry, and you said I can choose.”
You shake your head “Not like this…”
He hugs your shoulder and drags you away from the restaurant “Even when I say dinner’s on me?” he brings you to watch the marbling meat a person is grilling next to the window.
You gulp “It’d be a waste.”
He giggles and ruffles your hair “Fine. We’ll keep this for your after performance. Now what do you want?”
You tighten your hug on his arm and smile “Tteokbokki sounds nice.”
Sungchan smirks “I knew it, you are weak for tteokbokki, that’s why I was super confused when you refuse to eat back then.”
You blush “Stop bringing that up.”
He giggles and bops your nose “Okay darling I’ll stop, anything to make you smile and be happy.”
“I love you Sungchan!”
“I love you most, (y/n)!”
 fin.
tell me what do you think?? it’s happy ending right ;D

Hazy - College!Reggie x Reader
In which the reader has feelings for either reggie or luke, and one day goes withe the guys to a bar, gets drunk and winds up accidentally telling him the truth?
Tumblr media
Her internship was going to be the death of her. On the surface, working at a recording studio sounded like a dream. However, this dream actually ended up being a lot of formatting spreadsheets and scheduling office tours for 8 hours a day, three days a week.
As she left the office again, she took her heels off and held them in her hands. She walked down the street to her car, throwing the shoes in the back seat. She pulled on her sneakers and put her key in the ignition. As she pulled out of the lot, she pressed the radio on. Opening her sunroof, she smiled as she realized that she’d left her friend’s demo in the cd player. She turned up the volume as she cruised down the road.
As she approached her dorm, she saw a familiar figure sitting outside the front door. She laid on the horn as she drove past him. Reggie jumped up into the air, a frown appearing as his eyes landed on her car.
“Hi to you too, Y/N,” He said with a smirk.
“Happy hour?” She asked, unlocking her doors.
He nodded, lightly jogging over to her car. As soon as he got in he heard his voice. He rolled his eyes and turned down the volume.
“You don’t need to constantly listen to our music, ya know?” His eyebrow raised at her as she drove.
“Maybe I just like it, Reginald?” She caught his smirk out of the corner of her eye.
She pulled into the old Mexican restaurant they spent many Friday nights in and she could already feel the margarita salt on her tongue. He walked in front of her, rushing to the door to hold it open. She let a small smile grace her lips as she walked under his arm.
They sat at their usual table, the waiter not even bothering with giving them menus as he smiled at them.
“Two strawberry margaritas, chips and queso and two chicken tacos, yeah?” He asked, eyes directed at Reggie.
The boy nodded and the waiter left the two alone. Y/N let her face rest in her hands as she looked over at her best friend across the table. He scrunched his nose in response.
“How was your day, Reg?”
“Luke was late to rehearsal, so we ran longer than expect and I was late to a lecture, so it started out great,” She giggled as he rambled on. “And then, to my surprise, I had a history quiz today that I was not prepared for so....”
As he was finishing, their drinks landed on the table in front of them.
“Perfect timing,” Reggie sighed, taking a large sip of the fruity drink.
Y/N followed suit, placing her straw in the fishbowl, eyeing him as he gulped his down.
“So, not a great Friday, huh?”
He shook his head as he came up for air and she giggled at his face as it began to heat under the alcohol. Their food arrived and they ate quickly. As Y/N asked for the check, Reggie pulled out his phone.
“Luke and Alex want to know if we want to go to Kip’s tonight,” He met her gaze. “You down?”
She nodded as she placed a taco in her to-go case. “Yeah, so down, I think I’ve looked at Microsoft Excel so much this week that I may implode if I don’t get at least a little tipsy tonight.”
“A little tipsy, right,” Reggie shook his head at her.
“What, Reg? What does that mean?”
He grabbed her keys and started to stand up. She followed behind him, the stern look on her face never leaving.
“I mean that the last time we went out, I had to carry you up to your bedroom after you said you were only going to have ‘a few drinks.’
She scoffed at him, getting into the passenger side of her car.
“That was once-”
“Yeah maybe once a week for the past year.”
She slapped his arm repeatedly with her hand. He simply laughed at her aggression and put the car in drive. She tried to continue the conversation, but Reggie simply turned up the music, tapping to the beat on the steering wheel.
They turned into the lot in front of Luke and Alex’s apartment. The two boys already sat in front of the building waiting for them. Reggie honked to get their attention and they filed into her back seat. Luke leaned up on her seat, smiling close to her face.
“Y/N, you sure you want to go out. You do remember what happened last time...”
She threw her hands up in the air in frustration. “Must you all taunt me with this memory?!”
All the boys started laughing as she crossed her arms at her chest and slid down in her seat, pouting.
“Can we at least stop at my place so I can get ready?”
“Already on it, babe,” Reggie smiled.
The boys filed out of the car, running up her apartment complex stairs. She tried to avoid all the stares that people were leaving as they chased each other up and down the hallway. Finally reaching her door, the three calmed down and found their respective seats on her couch.
She walked into her closet and looked up and down the rack. She had no idea what to wear tonight. She pulled out a little black dress she hadn’t worn in months and held it up on her body, looking in her mirror.
“Reg will love that one.”
Her head turned toward the doorway where Luke was staring at her with a goofy smile spread across his face. Y/N shooed his eyes away, but placed the dress on the bed for further deliberation.
She didn’t respond to the boy as he approached her bed, sitting down on the edge of it.
“Come onnn, you two can’t hide this forever.”
She gave him a pointed look “Hide what?”
His jaw locked in frustration as he shook his head at her. He simply got off of her bed and walked toward her door without another word.
Y/N sighed, moving back toward her bathroom to do her makeup. As she put the finishing touches on her blush, Reggie appeared in the mirror next to her, smiling at her reflection.
“You almost ready? Luke’s going to pass away from boredom if we don’t leave soon.”
She nodded, rubbing the soft brush against her cheek. “Yeah, almost ready, I just have to change and I’ll be out there.”
He nodded as he left the room. She walked back out to her bed and eyed the dress for another moment before slipping it over her head. A bit tighter than she remembered, but it worked.
“Are you boys ready to go?” She said, looking at all of them staring at their phones in front of her.
Luke and Alex nodded, Reggie sat still for a moment as he eyed her outfit. She felt her cheeks getting redder under his gaze, and turned away to grab her purse off the table. She grabbed her keys and headed for the door, hearing feet shuffling behind her.
As they entered Kip’s, the haze of early smoke hung in the air. Y/N made a beeline for the bar with her ID already in her hand.
“Can I get a vodka soda?” She asked the bartender
“And a water,” Reggie said as he appeared next to her.
He shot a wink in her direction and she scowled back at him. The three ordered their beers and the group looked for a table. Spotting a booth in the corner, Y/N hobbled on her heels to grab it. The boy were cackling as they caught up to her.
“You looked light you were one step from toppling over, and you haven’t even drank anything yet,” Alex said with a smile
She rolled her eyes, pressing her glass to her mouth as she listened to the boys talk about their upcoming gig, taking large sips of her drink. Eventually, Luke got up for another beer.
“You need another one, Y/N?”
She nodded and the boy lightly jogged over to the bar. Her eyes met Reggie’s and his lips drew back to a slight smile.
“We’re boring you...”
“No, Reg, it’s fine..”
Alex nodded “Yes, we are boring you. We’ll stop with the band talk.”
“Guys, I want to work in the music industry, this is interesting to me I swear.”
They exchanged a look before both boys rolled their eyes at her. Before they could speak again, Luke dropped another glass in front of her. The placed the small straw in her mouth as the guitarist started to ramble again.
As Luke talked, Y/N tried to keep her focus as the room around her grew a bit disjointed. Her eyes felt heavy and the music was throbbing in her ears. Finally a girl from across the room swayed him away from the table and it went quiet. She heard Alex’s giggle and looked up from her cup.
“You good, Y/N.”
“Peachy,” She smiled lazily, the word slurring as soon as it fell from her mouth.
Alex turned to Reggie, pointing at the bar. “I’m going to grab her a water.”
Reggie nodded, turning his direction toward her as the drummer ran up to the bar. His smile widened as he watched her spin her straw around the the melting ice cubes in her glad.
“Hanging in there, champ?”
“Huh,” She said, head in her hand as her gaze migrated over to him. “Oh yeah, I’m good...just sleepy.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
She heard him giggle and met his eyes with a small smile, sticking out her tongue at him. Alex returned with water and sat it in front of her. She took a sip before returning to her slumped position.
A familiar face entered the bar and Alex’s eyes lit up immediately. She turned to see a long-haired skater walking toward their table.
“Go!” Y/N yelled a little too loudly, slapping her hands on the table.
Alex smirked as he got up and walked over to Willie. Y/N smiled after them, turning back toward the table with a pout. Reggie’s brows pulled to the middle of his face.
“What’s up?”
She looked over at him and shook her head.
“Nothing,” She rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand “I think I may head out soon.”
“Cool, I’ll drive you home.” He slid her keys out from under her hand.
“Reg, you don’t have to-”
“Let’s go!”
He grabbed onto her arm, lifting her up out of her seat. She stumbled in his arms as they walked out the door. They stepped out into the cool air, and Y/N leaned heavily on Reggie’s side as the made their way to the parking lot. He guided her into her seat before running over to the driver’s side.
As they drove out of the parking lot, Y/N let her eyes fix on him with a small smile on her face. He caught her gaze out of the corner of his eye and smirked.
“What, Y/N?”
“Nothinggg,” She sighed, leaning back on the head rest and closing her eyes.
Before she knew it, her shoulders were being pushed side to side. She opened her eyes and found Reggie next to her, lightly waking her up.
“I didn’t want to wake you, but I didn’t want to scare you by having you panic in someone’s arms in the middle of the hallway,” he grinned, holding his hands out to her.
Her legs felt like jello as they hit the concrete, falling side to side until Reggie grabbed her waist to stabilize her.
“Hang on,” He said, placing her arms around his neck.
He brought her up into his arms and moved toward the door. He carried her up three flights of stairs to her room. He placed her back on her feet at the door and handed her her key. As he turned to leave, she grabbed onto his forearm.
“You should stay,” She whispered.
He looked at her confused, watching as her hand slid down his arm, grabbing his hand in hers. He nodded, following her inside.
He filled two glasses with water, bringing them to the living room table as she ran to change into her pajamas. When she reemerged, Reggie was leaning back on the couch staring out at the sky. She walked over to him, bringing her arms around him and leaning her chin on his shoulder. He turned quickly, flashing her a smile before turning around. He brought his arm around her shoulders and she readjusted, letting her head fall on his chest.
“Reggie, I have a question for you.”
“Okay...” He questioned, raising an eyebrow at her.
She tilted her head to side as she stared at him, eyes wandering over his face for a moment.
“Why are you still single?”
He giggled, his brows pulling to the middle of his face in confusion.
“I don’t know Y/N, why do you ask?”
“Because it makes no sense to me, you’re so sweet and kind and attractive,” His cheeks flushed pink as her hand grazed his cheek. “You’re a catch.”
“I... you’re drunk and tired. You should go to bed.”
“Reg, I’m drunk but not stupid.”
He stayed silent for a moment before grabbing her hand and walking her toward her bedroom. He helped her get under the covers before turning off her light. As he stepped out into the hallway, he ran a hand through his hair.
What the hell just happened?

maybe one day i’ll fly next to you
chapter 2/8
read on ao3
start from the beginning
Autumn Classic doesn’t mean anything, really — the USFSA won’t look at it when considering Olympic spots — but it’s Buck’s favorite competition of the year. It’s his first chance to see new programs, size up competition, gauge where he thinks he’ll be landing this season. It’s also the first buzz of nerves and adrenaline that he feels after six months of break, and it’s a high he keeps chasing all season.
It’s a long flight to Toronto plus time changes, so he’s exhausted by the time they get to the hotel. He blearily accepts his room key from Bobby as he heads to the elevator, leaning heavily against the wall on the short ride up. He’s already dreaming about falling into bed as he opens the door, expecting to see Chimney as usual, but instead sees Eddie, standing in the middle of the room, scrolling through his phone. He looks up as the door shuts behind Buck and gives him a small smile.
“I, uh, didn’t know which bed you wanted, so I figured I’d wait until you got here.”
Buck, brain still half-offline, just looks at him for a minute before saying, “You’re not Chimney.”
Eddie lets out a surprised laugh, “No, not last time I checked. Bobby said he volunteered to chaperone the Juniors floor so he gave him a single. Guess that means you’re stuck with me.”
Buck makes a mental note to hunt Chimney down in the morning, but right now all he wants to do is sleep so he’s at least somewhat rested for practice at the asscrack of dawn.
“This one’s fine,” he says, dropping his bag at the foot of the closest bed before belly flopping onto it. He already feels himself drifting off as Eddie rifles through his own bag.
“Mind if I shower first?” he asks. Buck waves him a “yes” without moving the rest of his body. He thinks he hears a snort before the bathroom door closes and the shower turns on. The drone of the water almost puts him to sleep again, but he gets up with a groan instead, propping himself against the headboard while he waits. He could just say fuck it and go right to bed, but he’s been in three different airports today and feels disgusting, and he’d rather not wake up at 4am to shower in the morning.
He’s scrolling through the schedule Bobby emailed, figuring out the absolute latest he can set his alarm for, when the bathroom door opens again, steam pouring into the room. Eddie emerges, towel wrapped around his waist, droplets of water still falling down his flushed chest and shoulders, and Buck feels like he swallowed his tongue. Because, yes, he might hate the guy, but he also has eyes. Eyes that are currently taking in miles of skin and lean muscle so perfect it looks like he’s carved out of marble. His back muscles ripple as he leans over to grab a shirt from his bag before going back into the bathroom, and Buck actually feels his mouth water.
He hasn’t had sex in...a while. Two and a half seasons, to be exact. He hasn’t felt this attracted to someone so quickly in even longer. Since his leg healed, his sole focus has been skating — practicing day in and day out to get his jumps consistent, his skating skills back up to speed. And since he’s still having issues, he hasn’t even let sex or relationships cross his mind, didn’t want to lose focus. Apparently, he was a lot more focused than he thought he was, if it prevented him from noticing all this.
That lust — so intense he still feels it lingering in his gut — quickly turns into familiar irritation though, because of course, along with being a world class skater, Eddie also looks like a goddamn supermodel. Buck knows he’s no slouch himself, but this is a stupid new level. A distracting new level, and distractions are not something Buck needs right now.
Plus, he’d never sleep with Eddie anyway. He hates him.
The bathroom door opens again, and this time Eddie is, thankfully, fully clothed. “All yours,” he says, jerking his head toward the door as he sits down on his bed.
Buck nods, quickly grabbing his things and shutting the door behind him. He turns the shower to cold and gets in immediately, the shock of it waking him up and burning any lasting arousal out of him. He closes his eyes, trying to forget Eddie’s everything and focus instead on the things he needs to work on at practice tomorrow, where he put his KT tape, literally anything else.
He’s better by the time he’s done, just at the usual baseline of annoyance he’s always at where Eddie’s concerned. Eddie’s still awake, TV quietly playing a rerun of some sitcom, when Buck comes back and falls into his bed. He ignores Eddie as much as he can as he texts Maddie and sets his alarm, though he swears he feels his eyes on him when he’s not looking. Exhaustion finally takes over as he turns off his lamp, and he’s asleep as soon as he flips to his side.
He dreams he’s falling again, but this time, someone with golden skin and a blinding smile is falling with him.
~~~~~~~~~~
The first half of the week goes by in a blur — three days of wake up, skate, eat, skate, sleep, repeat — and before he knows it, it’s short program day. He wakes up to Eddie’s alarm — they had to be up at the same time anyway — and takes a minute to just lay in bed, feel the butterflies already forming in his stomach, excitement and anticipation lighting up every nerve ending.
Rooming with Eddie has been...not terrible, so far. He’s clean, quiet, doesn’t hog the bathroom. The second night, after long practices that left them physically drained but mentally wide awake, they even watched a movie together — some made-for-TV psychological thriller that started as background noise but quickly turned into them coming up with the most ridiculous ways for the movie to end, and Buck actually getting it right.
It’s...weird. Buck has spent most of the last year actively avoiding Eddie, but now that the cold shoulder he usually gives him has thawed out a little bit, it’s not so bad. He’s still irritatingly perfect on multiple fronts, but he can at least hold a conversation with him now.
They leave the room together, grabbing a quick breakfast at the hotel before heading to their last practice. It’s silent, each of them in their own heads about when they need to get ready, but it’s not awkward. Buck would almost call it comfortable.
The practice rink is as chaotic as expected by the time they arrive. All 15 competitors plus coaches and choreographers are there, most in the stands stretching and warming up, watching the first group run their programs on the ice. There’s a small group of reporters as well, snagging people when they can for quotes and comments. They scan the crowd for Bobby, finally see him waving from the spot he and Hen secured at the far end of the stands. They make their way across to them, smiling and waving at familiar faces as they go. It feels forced for Buck, at least — making nice despite the fact that they’re all secretly hoping everyone else will tear or bruise something bad enough that they’ll have to withdraw. Eddie, on the other hand, is genuinely warm to everyone, friendly slaps on backs and laughs at jokes that don’t have a hint of fakeness. He’s nice, even to people he has to know cheer a little bit every time he falls.
Buck resists the urge to roll his eyes, but just barely.
They finally make it to Bobby and Hen and start warming up. Buck takes real stock of the crowd now as he stretches his hamstrings, noting costumes, levels of panic he can see on faces, who’s skating to what music as it loops through the sound system. Overall, he feels good — at a smaller competition like this, he’s usually one of the strongest technically and artistically, and this time feels no different.
Their group gets called to the ice, and they each have one more chance to run through their program. Buck has two quads planned for his three required jumps, and he lands both of them cleanly and fully rotated. It’s still ambitious, given his consistency — you never know what will happen in front of the judges — but as long as he stays out of his own way, out of his head, he’ll be just fine.
He hopes.
When their time is up, Buck packs his things up quickly, waving to Bobby, Hen, and Eddie as he hustles to the green room to drop off his stuff before heading to the main rink. The first group for the rhythm dance is just starting their warm-up as he finds May in the stands, sliding into the seat next to her. It’s not often that their segments are spread out enough that they can all watch each other compete, but Buck and May always take full advantage to cheer on Maddie and Chim and judge everybody else.
“Did I miss anything?” he asks.
She shakes her head, eyes on the ice. “The Polish team almost collided with one of the Canadian teams, but it looked like an accident.”
“I don’t know, those Canadians love to cut it close during warm-ups, they think it scares the other teams.”
“They tried it at Worlds and got yelled at pretty bad, I don’t think they’d try it again so soon.” Buck whips his head over just as Eddie sits down on his other side, like he’s part of their little cheer squad too.
“What are you doing here?” Buck asks, tone a little more accusatory than he wanted.
Eddie just shrugs. “I usually stand in the back and watch, but I saw you guys and figured I’d join,” he says, meeting Buck’s eye. “If that’s okay with you?”
May elbows Buck in the ribs as she turns to Eddie herself. “Of course it’s okay, as long as you tell me everything that went down with that team at Worlds.”
Eddie smiles as he launches into the story. It takes Buck’s brain a minute to catch up with Eddie being sociable and funny, not hiding in the green room and ignoring everyone like he always assumed he did. They all fall into an easy banter as the first team begins their program, and by the end of the first group, they’re having to stifle their laughter and commentary as the people around them shoot dirty looks their way.
Their cheers are the loudest when Chim and Maddie are announced during the warm-up, and again when they start their program. Buck loves watching Maddie skate — she’s the reason he got into the sport in the first place, and the way she looks so graceful and effortless is something he never gets tired of seeing. Their tango is smoldering, easily covering the ice and drawing the audience in, and their group isn’t the only one giving a standing ovation at the end. They take first place by a good margin, Buck and Eddie letting out matching wolf whistles as their scores are announced.
Buck never would have imagined being here, cheering on his sister with the guy he’s hated for longer than he can remember, but now that he is here, it’s...nice. Much nicer than he expected. He actually likes hearing Eddie’s opinions on lifts and spins, likes hearing him laugh at his jokes, likes the feeling of their arms brushing against each other in the cramped stadium seating…
Yeah. Nice. Weird and a complete upset of his world view up until the beginning of the week, but nice nonetheless.
~~~~~~~~~~
He may be sitting in the kiss and cry, but Buck still feels like he’s flying. He landed both quads, including his quad loop which is chronically underrotated, and nailed every step and spin. The audience was thunderous when he finished, and he almost wanted to cry because it really felt like the beginning —  the beginning of his redemption, the beginning of chiseling his name into the record books, the beginning of finally achieving everything he’d dreamed of.
He is, of course, miles and miles ahead of himself, but that doesn’t stop an ember of hope glowing brightly in his mind as he gets his score — first place, 20 points above second. Bobby squeezes his shoulders, shaking them in excitement, and he stands and waves to the crowd. They’re just making their way to the green room as Eddie’s name is announced, and rather than avoiding watching himself get knocked to second, he stops just outside the exit and turns back towards the ice.
He’s seen Eddie’s short a million times in practice — usually watching against his better judgement to see if he screws up — but watching it in full in a competition is a completely different experience. The opening notes to “Dust in the Wind” start playing, and Buck watches Eddie’s whole demeanor change, swears he sees his mind locking into all he has to accomplish in the next two minutes and 40 seconds. Pundits always describe his skating as “classic but refreshing”, and Buck is more than inclined to agree. Eddie possesses all the charm and grace of old school skaters, but manages to put his own spin on it, making it feel like something no one’s ever done before. Buck’s a little in awe, if he’s honest, and watching Eddie’s nearly perfect program this time doesn’t fill him with the usual annoyance or ill-placed rage, it makes him feel...something. He can’t quite put a name on it, but he knows it’s a good feeling.
He’s inclined to blame that on the high he’s still feeling from his own skate, but part of him also knows that that’s not the case.
Eddie does knock him into second, but only by five points. There’s a pang of bitterness, but it’s dull, because five points is nothing. Five points is one perfect jump, one spin combo, one seamless step sequence. It’s not insurmountable. And even if the gap were bigger, Buck would be hard pressed to find any flaws in Eddie’s program anyway.
The pundits don’t lie. He’s incredible. And maybe Buck is starting to appreciate it.
The rest of the day passes in snapshots: pressers, watching May win gold in the ladies’ event, dinner with the team that was overflowing with excitement tinged with nerves about free skates the next day. He’s asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow, distinctly not thinking about how he and Eddie sat shoulder to knee at dinner, or how Eddie’s eyes glowed almost golden in the low lighting of the restaurant, or how crushed he might be if he doesn’t win tomorrow.
~~~~~~~~~~
Buck’s skating last, which means he’s going to be nauseous for the next two hours while he watches everyone else go. He considers just putting his headphones on and ignoring everything, going in blind to the scores, but he can’t. He has to know where he stands, his margin for error, how much perfection is needed.
He alternates between watching the first group on the TVs in the green room and going through every possible scenario of him screwing up and how he’ll fix it mid skate. Eventually, he’s just picturing himself falling on every jump, over and over, placing last and going home a loser before the season even officially starts.
He’s not sure if it’s doing more harm than good, preparing him for success or failure, but they’re announcing the second warm up group, so it looks like he’s about to find out.
Eddie goes right before him, because the universe really wanted to test the strength of his stomach, apparently. Buck always loves “Hallelujah” programs, but Eddie’s is, of course, on a completely different level. He puts every emotion — the anguish, the uncertainty, the faint hope — into his movements, and it pulls at Buck’s heart so hard he’s afraid a blood vessel will snap. He’s so enthralled that he almost doesn’t notice that Eddie was supposed to do a quad toe on his last jumping pass.
But he doesn’t.
He triples it, losing him five base points.
Buck feels bad (which is...new), but he also feels a surge of hope buzzing in every bone.
Does that make him a bad person?
He doesn’t have time to process that as Eddie’s scores are announced and he moves into first place. He stands and waves at the crowd from the kiss and cry, smiling widely and looking genuinely pleased. Maybe he didn’t know he messed up? Maybe he’s still in blissful ignorance, will stay that way until he looks at his protocols? That’s the only thing that makes sense to Buck — he’s aware of every mistake as soon as it happens, and even minor ones send him right off the rails, no amount of points able to bring him back for days.
There’s a hand on his shoulder, squeezing as it passes. He meets Eddie’s eyes, and that genuine smile is still there, directed him now.
“Good luck out there,” Eddie says, and Buck blames the flutter in his heart and flush on his cheeks purely on adrenaline and nerves.
The audience cheers as he skates to center ice, and he sees Maddie and Chim, still wearing their silver medals, near the top of the stands. He takes a deep breath as he stands in his opening pose, letting the crowd, the noise, the worry, everything wash away. This is all that matters, these next four minutes that could define the rest of his season, the rest of his path to the Olympic podium. Maybe it’s too much pressure for a preseason competition, but Buck’s been fighting for it, clawing his way through for the past four years, and a strong start is exactly what he needs to convince himself and every other coach, analyst, and skater, that he is here to win.
The music starts, and everything just clicks, like the notes are flowing through him while he moves, carrying him along. Every jump is clean and balanced, every spin is fast and poised. The music itself is about birds, flying through and away as quickly as they came, and that’s exactly how Buck feels. Like if he jumps high enough, he’ll float away like he does in his dreams, but this time, it’s not scary. There’s no jolts to his brain while he jumps, pulling him carelessly to the ground, and he takes every one with a bit of gratitude, knowing how easily he could second guess himself and make it all come crashing down around him, figuratively and literally. But there’s none of that today, just confidence and precision and joy that he only ever gets at moments like these. He still feels like he’s flying as he stops in his final pose, audience on their feet around him.
If he could, he’d bottle this sound and take it with him everywhere, have it follow him through Grand Prix, through Nats, all the way to Beijing. If this is the way the season is starting, he feels like he can’t go anywhere but up.
Or anywhere but down, a terrible voice whispers. Luckily, it’s drowned out with the crowd before it burrows too deep.
Bobby is all smiles when he comes off the ice, hugging him and slapping his back as they sit in the kiss and cry. He’s just catching his breath as they announce his score — first place, 9.5 points above Eddie. He wishes the gap had been a little bigger, but he’ll take what he can get. He waves at the crowd as they roar again, but he doesn’t have long to bask in it all before he’s whisked away for the medal ceremony.
It’s short, thankfully — no fanfare, just the president of Skate Canada and an ISU official handing out the flowers and medals. Buck skates out as his name is announced, taking his place on the highest podium between the bronze medalist from Japan and Eddie. Eddie beams at him, that same blindingly earnest smile, and Buck can’t help but smile back.
He gets a little misty when they play the national anthem. It’s not so much the song itself, but the accomplishment it represents, the fact that his blood, sweat, and tears were all for something.
Eddie falls in step with him as they make their way to the presser, shoulders brushing in that casual way they’ve made a habit this past week. Buck doesn’t know if they’re friends just yet, isn’t sure if a week is long enough to shed a decade of bad feelings, but he does know that there’s something about Eddie that keeps drawing him in, makes him want to dig past the annoyingly perfect exterior and figure out what’s going on inside. Is he always this positive and friendly? What makes him snap? He’s spent years trying to think as little about Eddie as possible, but it’s been harder and harder to do, and Buck doesn’t really want to fight it anymore. It was taking up too much energy, and he has bigger things to worry about.
“Congrats, man, you looked great out there,” Eddie says, squeezing his shoulder again. This time, Buck squeezes back.
“Thanks, so did you. Your triple axel was so perfect it literally looked computer generated.” Eddie laughs, sharp and bright, and something in Buck wants to keep hearing that sound as often as he can.
There aren’t many reporters, but they ask all the same questions — how did they feel about their performance, what are they looking to improve, how do they feel about the other competitors, blah blah blah. As they’re given the two minute warning, the last reporter stands, pointing her microphone towards Buck.
“Evan, you really started this season with a bang. Do you think you’ll be able to keep coming out on top?”
Yes, he thinks automatically. I can and I will.
Maybe, says the whisper again, or maybe you won’t.
“Anything could happen,” he says, a phrase he has a feeling he’ll be repeating again and again, “but I’ll keep fighting no matter what.”
On The Ground (Rosénali) - Moonshot
A/N: So… Guess who is back after a year of not writing fics? Yours truly! What can I say? Rosénali is that powerful of a ship. As always, I hope eveyone enjoys this fic. Feel free to let me know what you think… Who knows, there might be a follow up to this little fluff in the future! Little side note: this is a lesbian au where most of the s13/s12 girls appearing are cis-female, however Mik is still a trans man in the fic.
Summary: The diner girl!Denali x street singer!Rosé AU based on Blackpink’s Rosé’s solo music that nobody asked for!
ao3 link https://archiveofourown.org/works/30267687
Denali stared at the round clock above the entrance of the diner.
4:57 PM.
Three more minutes until her shift was over.
Three more minutes until the girl who had been a fixed character in her dreams would come from around the corner, set up her guitar, greet the passersby before starting her set for the evening like she did every Wednesday.
“So, gorge, are you going to ask the champagne girl out today, or are you just going to keep on creepily staring at her from afar?”, her coworker, Kade - or as everyone called him, Mik - appeared next to her with an empty tray.
“Her name is Rosé, not champagne girl!”, Denali rebutted, “and also, for the record, I don’t just… stare. I just happen to like appreciating her set without bothering her! It’s not like she was flirting with me that one time”.
“Did I just hear our Nali denying her crush on that pink-haired singer, again?”, Olivia, who was busy running the cash register, chimed in.
“Girl, I think we should start betting against her and maybe we’ll make more money than what they can pay us here!”, Mik joked as he washed some of the dishes in the sink.
The black-haired girl rolled her eyes, ignoring her two best friends and focusing on the performer’s much-anticipated arrival.
Denali didn’t believe in love at first sight but after the first time Rosé and her guitar had shown up on the other side of the road from Tamisha’s Diner, she couldn’t think about anything else.
There was just something about the other girl that had the Alaskan girl enamored.
The first - and so far only - time she had talked to Rosé was out of necessity as the other girl and who she assumed were her two best friends - the diner girls had dubbed them ‘Pastel Powerpuff girls’ - had decided to dine in just as Denali’s shift at the register had started.
“Hi! Did you enjoy our diner?”, the skater had put on her best smile, not quite able to meet the gaze of the taller girl as she typed out the receipt.
“Oh, sure, the skating gig is cute, the food’s great, and the service… isn’t too bad either,” Denali could see from the corner of her eye the smirk on the pink-haired girl.
“Rosie! Quit flirting with every cute girl that breathes and hurry up or Jan and I are leaving you here, the Uber is going to be here in 2 minutes!”, the blue-haired girl went on with the other girl in the friend group while ‘Rosie’ rolled her eyes at them.
“Sorry about Lagoona, she has the tact of an elephant on rollerskates,” the taller girl joked.
“O-Oh, no problem. So, your total is 20,04$, will you be paying in cash or card? Also, are you splitting the bill?”
“Since dumb and dumber over there already left, I’ll just pay everything with my card,” she replied taking out her purse and taking out her credit card, “here you go, angel”.
Denali tried her best not to blush at the sudden pet name, maintaining her on-the-clock persona as she brought out the card reader. She quickly finished up the operation and handed the pink-haired girl her card back with the receipt, “I just need a quick signature here and you’re free to go to your friends”.
‘Rosie’ scribbled down her signature - she learned her actual name was Rosé, classy yet slightly worrying - and left a tip for her.
A 10$ tip for her.
“Gorge, she left you a 10$ tip, she was basically asking for your hand in marriage”, Mik reminded her, his eyes darting around the half-empty diner.
He nodded his head to his left where Denali saw another one of her co-workers sharing a milkshake with her girlfriend, giggling like teenagers, “I’m just saying. If Utica managed to end up dating that self-proclaimed ebony enchantress over there, you got a chance with wine girl”, he ended with his trademark L.A vocal fry.
Denali knew Mik had a point, but as she was about to reply, she heard the familiar sound of a guitar starting a new song. Her eyes glanced back at the clock.
5:14 PM
Damn, she had missed the beginning of the set.
The Alaskan girl didn’t lose any more time as she clocked out, skates still on her feet as she zoomed out of the diner.
“Aaaaand she’s gone!”, Olivia commented, turning her head to Mik, “Do you think this time is the good one?”
“Well, if she doesn’t finally go after her, I might as well go after her myself!”
Denali reached the usual crowd that had already formed around Rosé, trying her best to blend in and not be seen by the singer while still getting a good view of the set.
“Well, aren’t you guys a lovely crowd!”, the pink-haired singer smiled as she got ready for the next song, “I’ve got one last song for today and this is going to be the first time I’ll be performing it, so, don’t hate it too much!”, she chuckled as she checked her guitar before turning her head back to the mic stand, “This is On The Ground, I’m Rosé and I hope you’ve enjoyed the set! Feel free to drop your tips in the guitar case!”
Denali couldn’t take her eyes off Rosé when she heard the guitar’s first chord paired with the honey-like vocals.
My life’s been magic seems fantastic
I used to have a hole
in the wall with a mattress
It’s funny when you want it
Suddenly you have it
You find out that your gold’s just plastic
The black-haired girl quickly pulled out her phone, opened her voice memo app, and hit record. She wanted to treasure the magic Rosé’s voice brought.
What she failed to notice while she was so into the song was a pair of hazel eyes settling on her as the song reached its climax.
A couple of days later, Denali had just finished with her teaching job at the local ice rink when she spotted Olivia on the railings.
“The suspicious lack of a certain pink-haired girl makes me think that you still haven’t asked her out” she heard the younger girl say as she skated her way to her.
“You’ll never let it go, won’t you, Liv?”
“Not when I see that you like her and, from what I’ve seen, she is at least interested in you. Mik tried to ask her out yesterday after your shift was over,” the other girl replied.
Denali furrowed her brows, “Wait, he was serious about asking her out? I thought he was just joking!”
“If you don’t act on your cute pink crush, you can’t expect everyone else to stop for you,” Olivia reasoned, “if it’s of any help, Mik did say that, and I quote ‘she didn’t want a piece of this fine ass’”, she finished, air quoting their co-worker.
“To be honest, the dude’s barely got an ass compared to me,” Denali muttered, but her best friend managed to catch it.
“Well, as Symone said, you do have a fat ass,” Olivia commented, causing both of them to laugh out loud.
She continued, “Point still stands though, you gotta do something or you might just end up regretting not doing anything about it”.
The dark-haired girl sighed, “I know, I’m just… scared to get hurt because she seems so cool and unreachable, and I’m just so… me?”, she confessed, resting her arms on the rails.
“Give it a chance, Nali,” Olivia replied, laying her hand on the skater’s arm and giving it a gentle squeeze, “And just in case, if she fucks you over, we’ll just unleash Kandy on her!”, she added, making Denali chuckle.
“Girl, if she knew you said that…”
“She would do absolutely nothing because she’s too busy chasing after that Joey guy”, she didn’t miss a beat with her reply, giving her a knowing look, “Almost forgot to ask, are you coming later to the club with the others?”
Denali shook her head, “No, sorry. I don’t feel like clubbing today, I’ll just skate a bit more and then go home to watch some Netflix”.
Olivia shrugged her shoulders, “You do you, girl. But think about what I said, okay?”
She gave her best friend a small smile, “Thanks, Liv. See you at work?”
The younger girl nodded and left Denali to her thought as she exited the room. The black-haired skater turned her head back to the rink, noticing that only a few people were left on the ice.
She took a deep breath, putting her earbuds back in and looking through her phone to decide on what song to use for her last routine of the day. Her eyes fell on the voice memo app, immediately reminding herself of the recording she had taken just a few days prior. She hadn’t even listened to it since she had recorded it.
It wasn’t a clean recording, she could hear the sounds of the city and the people around her, but she closed her eyes and focused on Rosé’s voice, letting it guide her.
The music fully took her over as she performed her usual stunts.
I’m way up in the clouds
And they say I’ve made it now
But I figured it out
Everything I need is on the ground
She found herself in the center of the rink, the bridge of the song was blasting in her ears. She smiled to herself as she started to spin, gradually picking up speed while Rosé’s high notes were all she could focus on.
Just drove by your house
So far from you now
But I figured it out
Everything I need is on the
Everything I need is on the ground
The recording stopped abruptly, she remembered how she had to bolt away, almost missing her bus home.
Denali could hear her heavy breathing, suddenly aware again that she wasn’t alone. But she had made up her mind.
She was going to talk to Rosé the following Wednesday.
That Wednesday the diner was busier than usual, giving Denali barely a moment to think, let alone realize she was missing Rosé’s set outside.
She glanced at the clock.
5:26 PM
Shit.
She turned her head and looked outside the diner’s big windows and saw that the pink-haired girl was starting to gather her things.
“Miss Iman just left, go to her! We’ll cover for you and we are not letting you get back in unless you got a date!”, Olivia said quietly enough for just her to hear.
Denali couldn’t help the grin spreading across her face. She grabbed some of the tips that she had made before she bolted outside, faintly hearing the cheering of her friends.
As she reached Rosé on the other side of the road, the singer’s back was facing her, she didn’t seem to have noticed Denali yet.
The black-haired girl took a deep breath, just like she had done on the ice rink, and let the tips fall into the still open guitar case.
The noise of falling change was what made Rosé turn around, a surprised look on her face as she registered Denali’s face.
“Denali?”
Gosh, she could hear the other girl say her name all day.
Wait.
“How do you know my name?”, Denali asked slightly confused.
Rosé didn’t reply but simply pointed at the waitress’s chest.
Oh, right. The nameplate on her uniform.
“That and also I tend to remember a pretty face when I see one,” she added, now her attention fully on the shorter girl.
“Oh, yeah, right”, she fidgeted awkwardly, not knowing where to look, “Uhm, I just wanted to say that you have a really beautiful voice. You can consider me your first fan when you make it big”.
Rosé smiled at her and Denali couldn’t help but notice how beautiful of a smile she had.
The singer turned back to her stuff, shuffling things around and leaving the brunette to her thoughts. She wanted to ask the taller girl out but felt all her courage leave her body.
Way to go, Nali.
“Well, Uhm, I think I should-”, she started but she was stopped by the pink-haired girl, who had finished packing everything up.
“Here, this is for you”.
It was a jewel case cd, a picture of Rosé in a very 80s inspired attire on the cover with pink marker writing across the front.
‘To Denali
My first (and hopefully not last) fan
     Rosé xo’
  It was signed with a small rose doodle next to Rosé’s name and, much to Denali’s surprise, a phone number along with the phrase ‘put it to good use’.
She looked up to find the other girl staring at her, her guitar case strapped on her back. She gave her a wink and started walking towards the subway.
Denali stood there for what felt like forever as she watched Rosé disappear in between the crowd of people roaming the streets.
She looked back down at the cd, committing the number to memory. She turned around to look at the back, her eyes were drawn to the tracklist.
She smiled when she saw On The Ground.
Finally, she didn’t have to listen to a shitty phone recording to enjoy it.
“Wait, what? You had recorded it all secretly and shady, mama?”
Rosé’s laugh filled the room as Denali tried to hide her face on the other girl’s bare chest.
“You’re an ass! I just wanted to use it for one of my skating routines”, she muttered, causing her girlfriend to laugh even harder.
“I find it cute that I’m not even famous and my music has already been pirated!” she commented, “I’m already halfway there to stardom, baby girl,” she added, kissing the top of Denali’s head.
The shorter girl groaned as she hid the increasing blush on her cheeks, rolling her body so that she was on top of the pink-haired girl.
“Well, miss Rosé, is it pirating if it was for personal pleasure only?”, Denali teased, running her hands upwards on the naked skin, slowly lowering herself until her face was inches away from her girlfriend’s.
She felt Rosé’s hands take a firm hold of her behind, “Oh angel, I’ll show you personal pleasure,” the singer replied, eliminating the little space left between their lips as Denali brought her hands to cup the older girl’s face.
Rethinking about those lyrics Rosé had written months prior, Denali knew she was right, she did have everything she needed on the ground.
It was to be right there with Rosé.
Note
I've just had a very strange thought, and I felt compelled to ask you a prompt about it.
See, Desast from Saber and Yurio from Yuri on Ice have the same VA (Uchiyama Kouki). He also voiced Philip/Kamen Rider W in the Memory of Heroez video game. So what would happen if, by some strange twist of destiny, these three happen to cross paths?
Oh my God... Are you for real? Okay, now I want to write this!!!
"Hey, Shotaro, did you know that the reigning champion of men's singles figure skating was fifteen when he won his first gold medal in seniors?" Philip asked, holding out his phone to his husband.
"I have no idea what half of that means, but..." Shotaro's voice trailed off as his eyes found the phone screen. Pictured there was a young blond man, shoulder-length hair tied back in a ponytail, who was staring arrogantly at the camera. He was leaning on a dark-haired guy who was half a head taller and was, at the moment of the photo being taken, kissing the side of the blond's head. "Okay, who is that?"
Philip smiled as he took his phone back. "Kentaro found this compilation of the top ice skaters in the world, and wouldn't you guess, but two of them live just ten kilometers from Fuuto!"
"These two?"
"No. Surely you've heard of Yuuri Katsuki and Victor Nikiforov?"
"The names do ring a bell." Shotaro frowned, trying to remember where he'd heard them. "Hang on, aren't they the first two officially married gay ice skaters?"
"Exactly!" Philip snapped his fingers. "Now, they'll be making an appearance at the NHK competition, because they're friends with the skater I just showed you and because they're training a junior skater competing there. I was thinking that maybe we could go and see them."
"What???" Shotaro's mouth dropped open. Then he thought better of himself. "Okay, but how do you expect to pay for it?"
Philip smirked, an expression that rarely showed up on his face and thus unnerved Shotaro every time. "You'll see."
----------------------
Against all odds, Philip had managed to procure two two-day tickets for the NHK Trophy, so Shotaro had no choice but to admit defeat. They dropped Kentaro off at Shinnosuke's, apologizing for the inconvenience, and then drove off to Nagoya, where the competition was being held. They definitely were not expecting to be recognized.
"Hidari Shotaro-san?" A man in his thirties approached them cautiously, the expression in his eyes approaching awe.
"Yes?" Shotaro didn't mean to sound curt, but his surprise had overtaken him. "Yes, that's me."
"I live in Hasetsu. When I was fourteen, my poodle, Vicchan, disappeared, and you helped me find him. I remember you clearly." The man smiled a bit. "I never got the opportunity to say thank you."
"You're welcome-" Shotaro paused, not knowing the man's name.
"You can call me Yuuri. May I introduce my husband, Victor?" Yuuri patted the shoulder of the silver-blond man next to him before rising up to kiss his cheek, only to be startled away by Philip squealing.
"Yuuri Katsuki and Victor Nikiforov??? I can't believe it! It's you two!" Philip grinned, trying to contain his excitement.
"That would be us." Victor smiled, then glanced at his watch. "Oh, Yuuri, we're supposed to head in. Didn't Yurio want to meet us before he had to warm up?"
"Damn, that's right! I'm sorry, we have to go find our friends." Yuuri dragged Victor off before anybody could say a word.
Shotaro and Philip were left there, speechless. Then they both started talking at once.
"You know Yuuri Katsuki?"
"I know Japan's former leading ice skater?"
"When did that happen?"
"I don't know!"
This continued until they had to go in to get their seats. Then they shut up, watching as the skaters warmed up on the rink.
"Isn't that the guy you showed me?" Shotaro pointed out a blond on the ice, his sleek hair combed into an elaborate hairdo. He had left a red, white and blue striped jacket on the wall of the rink, and was now skating around in a red-orange outfit.
"I think so. I forgot his name, though, so I guess we'll have to find that out later."
All the skaters left the ice except the blond, who skated over to the wall to grab a drink. "First on the ice: Yuri Plisetsky, of Russia."
"I bet you ten thousand yen that that's the Yurio Victor Nikiforov mentioned," Shotaro whispered as Yuri skated out to the middle of the rink and struck a pose. The music started up just as Philip answered, a rushing, rising piece that reminded both of them of flames, so Shotaro couldn't hear him, though he had a feeling that the bet had not been taken.
Both of them were entranced by the skating, so when the music ended, they both felt like it had been far too short. But, as Philip pointed out, "Today is the day of the short programs. The free skates are tomorrow."
Just as Yuri stepped off the ice, screams erupted from the rinkside as a black figure jumped down from somewhere. It was not human by any means.
"Crap!" Shotaro cursed his bad luck as he and Philip scrambled through the screaming crowds to get to an aisle, any aisle, where they'd have a chance to transform.
"Henshin!"
Kamen Rider W, now transformed, floated down in front of the monster. Its features were twisted, red and black, and it was holding a sword to Yuri Plisetsky's throat. "Leave. Him. Alone."
"Oh? And who's going to stop me? You?" The monster's voice was eerily calm and snarky, and apparently Yuri didn't like it, as he started screaming obscenities in Russian. Just a few meters away, Victor was apparently translating for Yuuri, because both of them looked about as freaked out as the dark-haired guy next to them.
"Yes, I am. Now, count up your sins!"
"Desast!" someone yelled from behind W, and they whirled around to see a very familiar dragon-themed Rider. "Hang on, you guys are also here?"
"Yeah, we were watching the ice skating," Philip replied in Shotaro's place, wondering how Touma Kamiyama had known to come here. "Now, we should probably get that guy away from Desast."
"On it!" Touma tackled Desast away, and W held out a hand to Yuri.
"Are you okay there?" Philip asked in slow, careful English.
"No, not okay, why would you think that?" Yuri snapped in Russian-accented English that was still clearly legible. That voice made Shotaro freeze up.
"Uh, that's weird... You sound like him," Shotaro blurted out before he could think about what he was saying.
Yuri rolled his eyes. "Yeah, duh, that's why he targeted me. He said that he was looking for a human disguise, and that because I had a similar voice to his, nobody would suspect him. Not that that would work, given that that mudak attacked me in the middle of the khrenoten' competition."
"Well, you should go find out your score. We'll deal with the monster." W ran off, leaving a very confused Yuri Plisetsky behind. One of the figure's voices also sounded remarkably similar to his.
-------------------
After chasing away Desast and watching what they hadn't missed of the rest of the short programs, Shotaro and Philip met up with Victor, Yuuri, Yuri and the dark-haired guy, a retired skater himself, and Yuri's boyfriend, by the name Otabek Altyn. The moment he spotted them, Yuuri bombarded Shotaro with questions.
"What the hell was that? Who were those? Why did that monster attack Yurio? Is it going to attack again?" Yuuri paused, breathless, and Philip took the opportunity to answer the questions.
"That was a monster attack. The two figures in suits were Kamen Riders, defenders of justice. As for why the monster attacked Plisetsky-san, and whether it will attack again, I simply don't know."
Yuri raised an eyebrow, but didn't question it. The young man's voice also sounded similar to his own, but the idea that he was one of the voices of the Kamen Rider who'd saved him? No way. He said something to Victor and Otabek in Russian, smiling slightly at the three Japanese men, who shrugged in confusion.
"Well, we'll be here tomorrow to watch the free skate. Which place did Plisetsky-san get?" Philip asked Yuuri, smiling to learn that the blond Russian skater was in first place.
"You flatter me." Yuri slapped Yuuri's hand away as the latter tried to give him a slap on the back, his dry, acidic tone reminding all those present of the monster.
"See you tomorrow!" Victor called as Philip and Shotaro walked off to their car, wide-eyed with joy. Victor Nikiforov, who still held several records around the globe and was currently one of the most elite skating coaches in the world, was looking forward to see them again. How awesome was that?
Sharpen Your Blades - Ch.5
Summary: “What the fuck is that supposed to mean?”
The thinning of Aizawa’s patience was evident in the twitching of his brow. “If you stop asking questions, maybe I could finish explaining.
”With a huff and roll of his eyes, Katsuki glanced away from their coach.
“City Hall and the SC want us to give them more variety. We are a team solely made up of single skaters. Every year, we dominate the rankings for single skate while Shinketsu dominates the pairs, so this year both cities are being required to split their skaters evenly between singles and pairs with at least one pair coming from out top five.” There was a collective intake of breath, but no one commented, choosing instead to remain silent. “Unfortunately, for us, it’s a lot easier to switch from pairs to singles. With our male to female ratio, alpha/beta/omega ratio, and those of you actually experienced with pair skating, we’re at a disadvantage. So, I’ve decided to choose your partners for you.”
…..
Or where Katsuki and Izuku are forced to be partners so they can continue to compete, but the blood in the water may be thicker than anyone realized.
Chapter 5: Nine-Years-Old
Izuku was tired, had been tired for so long. Being with his alpha partner should have helped, should have put at least a little pep in his step, but their point of contact only seemed to suck at the dregs of his energy.
After his first heat when all of his energy had been sapped, he thought maybe it would return. He thought maybe the first cycle was just the hardest, and he’d feel better after. He didn’t. He’d been able to hide the strain with the promise of something new. With the promise of meeting Katsuki on equal footing, facing him as a rival rather than a partner, of making individual progress. It had been exciting. They’d both been looking forward to that.
And then it had been taken away from them.
With his new partner, it was difficult to hide his discomforts, but it didn’t really matter. He never noticed anyway. ‘Would be bad alpha,’ his newly woken omega whispered to him as they slowly skated in tandem around the rink for warm up, ‘Better alphas than him. Not our alpha.’
‘Not our alpha indeed,’ Izuku replied silently, eyes barely focussed at all.
Izuku didn’t blame Katsuki for breaking off their partnership, it had been the only logical decision after they’d lost. They couldn’t go any further as a pair, and Izuku’s performance had steadily been getting worse with each heat. Better to break it off than shoulder the burden of a failing partner.
Heat burbled beneath his skin, sludgy with suppressants. ‘Need to take my dose soon,’ he thought idly, allowing his partner to guide them through the next warm-up without much thought. He jumped, landed, continued on, all without the same enthusiasm he used to have.
Wind jerked at his curls as they picked up speed, stinging cold against his warm cheeks.
The doctors had started him on suppressants after that, trying to use chemicals to ease his pain. They’d helped, but had also taken something from him. Stolen the love he’d always held for skating, making it a chore that he only did because he didn’t know what he’d be doing otherwise. The drugs made him slower, exhausted, apathetic. Like he was underwater, and only surfaced for a gasp of breath when Katsuki was close enough to catch his scent.
“Ready? Let’s fucking do this,” Izuku’s partner muttered in his ear, “That new throw. Four rotations at least before I catch you.”
‘But we don’t have spotters. We’re not proficient enough to do it alone yet,’ Izuku thought slowly, confusion speeding his pulse. ‘Wait.’
Large hands tightened on his waist, and unable to protest, Izuku readied himself the way he’d been taught. All he needed to do was stay tight, compact, and rotate. His partner had to do the rest. He just needed to trust his partner. He could do that.
There was the familiar drop of his stomach as he went airborne. The lights above smeared into streaks of white as he rotated. Silently, he counted; one, two, three. Four rotations. Five. Six? The arms that were supposed to catch him were absent, and fear set in.
‘He didn’t catch me,’ Izuku thought, but instead of disappointment, there was just the expectation of the failure that he hadn’t realized had been in his chest. He didn’t make a sound as he untucked from his rotation.
‘Untrustworthy alpha!’
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught Katsuki’s expression just before his skate connected. Disgust. Horror. His mouth opened, but Izuku didn’t hear what he said.
The pain tore through his body. First his hip, then his ankle, his wrist, his forearm.
Everything narrowed around him. There was the cold of the ice beneath his cheek, the searing heat of pain, his lungs struggling to breath, his throat constricting, and Katsuki’s scent. Allspice and cinnamon with the overwhelming heat of cayenne pepper filling his nose, his mouth, his lungs. The scent of Katsuki’s rage grounded him, kept him present, chased away some of the pain, but never brought him back.
He didn’t drop completely into unconsciousness until Katsuki’s scent disappeared.
October Week 3
With a huff of breath, Izuku wiped the sweat from his brow and glided to a stop along the wall where Uraraka and Iida were huddled close around a phone. He couldn’t see what they were watching, but the music was familiar. Peaking over their shoulder, Izuku could only catch the glimpse of brightly colored costumes. “Hey, guys, what are you watching? Research for your program?” he asked, grabbing his water bottle.
“Deku!” Uraraka cried, the red on her cheeks spreading further as she laughed, “You surprised us.”
Izuku smiled. “I can tell. What’s up? You two seemed really engrossed.”
The pair exchanged a look, and Iida said, “Yes, we were doing research for our program, and came across some videos of you-”
Uraraka didn’t let him finish, whispering, “You didn’t tell us Bakugou used to be your partner!” Excitement visibly thrummed through her, and her softly sweet scent flared brightly.
Izuku swallowed before laughing nervously. “You know, I think someone told me Aizawa wanted to talk to me. I’ll be going.” Anxiety made his movements stiff as he turned to leave. Uraraka grabbed a hold of his wrist, and held on tightly. The sudden need to run as fast as possible flooded his body.
“We’re just surprised is all. I mean, we knew you two had pair skated, but we didn’t know you had pair skated. It’s just really surprising since Bakugou is so adamant not to skate with you. It’s weird, you know, and you two look so happy in these videos!” She turned the phone towards him where the video was still playing, and Izuku saw his nine-year-old self grinning from ear to ear as Katsuki caught him around the waist. “You were so small and always smiling at each other. Even Bakugou! It’s kind of sweet.” She was smiling, but it slowly fell away as she dropped her hand back to her side. “Was Bakugou, you know, the one who caused your injury?”
Irrational anger rolled through Izuku.
“What!” he shouted, voice nearly a screech. With effort, he lowered it, but the urgency to make them understand and the anger that they could ever think that was still there. “Kacchan would never drop me or anyone! He’s very strong and capable, and always has been. Even if something did happen while practicing, he would definitely do everything he could to catch his partner like he’s been doing with Mina. It was someone else. They don’t even skate anymore.”
Iida and Uraraka exchanged another glance, this one wide-eyed.
Iida held out a hand between them. “Pardon, but did you just say that someone else dropped you?”
“As in you had a different partner than Bakugou before your injury?” Uraraka asked.
Tugging at his braid, Izuku considered what he wanted to tell them. Considered if he wanted to tell them anything at all. Even if he decided to stay quiet, they could just go searching. He knew they would, especially if they continued watching his and Katsuki’s competition videos. If he wasn’t the one to tell them, he wasn’t sure what the internet would give up instead.
If he asked them not to dig any further, he was sure they’d listen, but they deserved more than that. They were his friends after all.
After a moment, he sighed and dropped his hand from his hair. “I had a different partner for only about six months. He was a little older than us, another alpha from our hometown team. Kacchan broke off our partnership, but that wasn’t his fault. The year after we presented was really hard. It wasn’t his fault, and I don’t blame him for going to singles. I wanted to follow him, but our coach made me stay on pairs. If he’d had it his way, Kacchan would have stayed too, but you know Kacchan. Our coach decided he’d rather have only one of us in pairs than lose another of his top skaters, especially after Usagiyama left.” Izuku shrugged, reaching for the end of his braid again. “Honestly, it’s not a surprise Kacchan hates me so much. I caused a lot of problems for him.”
Again, Uraraka and Iida looked at each other.
He wished fervently that he could understand their strange silent language. More, he wished he had someone that he could communicate with silently like them.
Pursing her lips, Uraraka released his wrist, but grabbed his shoulder instead. “Honestly, Deku, while I know I’m still missing some of the story here, I think there might be a misunderstanding between the two of you somewhere. Maybe if you talked, things would make more sense.”
Izuku laughed, and shrugged out from under her hand. “I appreciate the advice, Chako, but I don’t think you know how much Kacchan really hates me. I honestly don’t think we’ll ever be able to talk like we used to. It’s fine.”
“Well, maybe-”
Cutting off whatever Iida was about to say, Izuku pointed to the phone at Uraraka’s side. “You were looking for videos, right? I’ll show you a couple channels that I watch. They’re really informative, and the couples have great chemistry. There’s a pair who are about your guys’ height and build, so it should be perfect.”
…..
Frustration made its home in Katsuki’s body, and he was all the more irritated by that simple fact. He was frustrated with his progress with his program, still feeling far more behind than the rest of the team after the week he had to spend away for his rut. He was frustrated because Ashido was a paltry substitute to his actual partner, and with her, he felt like he was actually regressing in his progress instead of moving forward.
The most frustrating thing of all? Everything was his own fault, and he knew that very well. He wasn’t about to admit that he’d made a mistake to anyone though. He had a reputation to uphold, and he’d rather suffer than let his pride take a blow.
His mood only got darker as practice dragged on, and it felt like the last straw when he found the entire team gathered right over his bag at the end. Only Izuku was still out on the ice talking animatedly to Aizawa and Yamada.
Slipping his guards over his blades, he marched toward the clusterfuck of skaters with a snarl. All of the pair skaters were at the center of the group, crowded around the one person with their phone out. “Get out of the way, extras. You’re standing right on top of my bag, and I’ve got shit to do.”
Denki and Hagakure’s heads popped up from where they were leaning over Uraraka’s shoulder, grins pulling at their mouths. “Yo, Kacchan, I knew you skated pairs before, but I didn't know you were good!” Denki crowed, laughing, “You and Deku killed it as kids. We happened, dude?”
Narrowing his eyes, Katsuki looked over the crowd and found the person who should have been standing closest to his bag. “Soy sauce, give me my fucking bag.”
“Don’t be like that, Bakugou!” Hagakure interjected, reaching out a hand with a wide placating smile, “We’re just wondering. Just look at the two of you. You’re so proud of your first place medals!” She plucked the phone from Uraraka’s fingers, turning the paused screen for Katsuki to inspect. “How did you go from those cute squishable faces to hating each other?”
Katsuki recognized the event immediately. It was the last one they’d skated as a pair before they were supposed to go to singles, before presenting, before going official. It was the last competition that had gone well for them as a pair. And they did look happy, ecstatic really all wrapped around each other on the top of a podium. So proud with heavy gold medals too big for their still growing forms hanging around their necks from blue ribbon. Katsuki’s hair had still been wild and untamed, and his smile had been untempered by failure. Izuku’s eyes had still sparkled, the dullness of suppressants and injury still months to come.
His heart squeezed painfully in his chest.
Shoving her hand out of his face, he snatched his bag from Sero who’s expression had gone sheepish. “Shit happens. People change. We presented,” he snapped, turning to leave.
“Why would presenting change anything?” Uraraka asked, and when he turned, there was concern on her face.
He was actually surprised the nerd hadn’t caught his nerd friends up on everything that had happened when they were kids. Given them someone to blame for his injury. It wasn’t like they would be wrong.
He just stared as her concern seemed to grow with each passing second, then something changed. Understanding dawned on her face, and he turned with a snarled, “I’m leaving. I don’t have time for the past. Go ahead and keep wasting yours.”
He wasn’t far enough away to not hear Iida’s murmured, “Maybe we could find a video of him with his other partner? That could clear some things up.”
Before he could stop himself, Katsuki whirled back around. “That sorry excuse for an alpha wasn’t his goddamn partner! Don’t fucking-” Izuku’s scent wafted towards him across the ice, mint and a thunderstorm rolling in, and he snapped his teeth together. With a quick glance towards the omega’s curious expression as he glided towards them, Katsuki made his escape without another word. What the fuck were they trying to pull by bringing up old shit anyway?
The past didn’t change anything that was happening in the present.
