20 Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by @cilil. Thank you for tagging me! <3
I only super recently really got back into writing again, don't have access to my old works and have for now only posted some stuff on here and some WIP, so a lot of these questions don't really make sense for me to answer atm.
That's why I will just pick some.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
At the moment I only write for Tolkien.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
That must be a smutty WIP where, for once, Mairon does not suffer.
Normally there's not much happiness to be found in my writing.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
So far I haven't. :D
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes. Venturing into all the territories.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No, I personally don't like reading or writing crossovers too much UNLESS it's for humerous reasons.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Does mashing each other's hcs together and hitting each other with angst before one of us writes it into a fic count? If so, yes hahah.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Angbang. I'm a predictable person.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Imagery / creating an atmosphere.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Dialogue and writing longer fic because I lack practice.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Visual Kei / Moi dix Mois
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
I do like this little thingy: A Call for Loyalty
Tags: @lvsifer ofc and everyone who would like to answer some of these because I don't know who of you have been tagged in this already.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by @elevenelvenswords - thank you so much, friend <3 (and apologies for taking forever to get round to this!)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
49 in total.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
456,188 words.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mainly Silmarillion. I have dabbled in Star Wars and Dark Souls too, plus a D.Gray-man fic I wrote for a friend purely based on what she told me about the characters as I've never read the manga or watched the anime.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
My top one is Yield to the Moment, which is completely fair enough as it's a beast of a fic and by far the longest multi-chapter I've ever written. The next two are Strange New World and A bond once called fealty, part of my Swords series looking at Melkor and Mairon post-Dagor Dagorath. Then we've got The Metal Cage which is pure PWP (chastity play/CBT) and I am very glad people are having fun with it. And fifth is A quiet sort of introspection, a Melkor-centric character study also set in the Swords 'verse.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yep! I think it's only fair to reply to people if they've taken the time to share their thoughts about something I've written. Plus it can turn into a really fun thinking space to play around with ideas about characters!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Ohhh I have to think about this one. I don't know if I tend to write particularly angsty endings? Maybe High and Higher? Which is a Fallen Banners ficlet set in Gondolin after Maeglin's return from Angband where he feels like he doesn't quite fit into his life anymore.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Yield to the Moment, probably! The wedding felt like a happy culmination of all the work they'd been putting into themselves and each other.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
It's happened a few times, yeah. But generally people seem to take a "ship and let ship" stance to fandom.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Quite a lot of smut haha. Honestly I'd describe my particular brand of smut as a thinly veiled excuse for a psychological study of the characters.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Haven't written any crossovers yet.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge, thankfully.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
A couple, yeah, back in 2015-ish when I first started writing for the Silm fandom. Sadly I took down all those old fics at a time when my mental health wasn't amazing (wish I hadn't), and I'm not sure if the translations still exist anywhere.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
YTTM started out as a co-written project.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Will have to go with Angbang here. They just seem to speak to a deep deep part of my psyche.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I've got a very rough WIP about Mairon bonding with Tar-Míriel in Númenor that I don't feel super engaged with anymore.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Characterisation, I hope! I've always been drawn to writing as a way to explore what makes characters tick, why they do the things they do. I also really enjoy coming up with fun ways to describe things.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Everything can always be improved, I suppose! At the moment I think I'm mindful that I find it difficult sometimes to end fics in ways that feel punchy or memorable.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Totally on board with it when used thoughtfully as a plot device or a way to add depth to characters.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Oh goodness, I think it was Harry Potter back when I was 13 or 14. Those fics will not be seeing the light of day haha.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Hmm I don't actually like reading my own stuff very much. It's a bit of a struggle to switch off the perfectionism. That said, YTTM has a special place in my heart. It took a lot of time, a lot of thought, and sometimes a lot of effort, and while I'm not 100% happy with it, I am glad that I got it over the finish line and that I had a chance to tell a story I really wanted to tell.
#meme things#crackinthecup's writing#thank you so much again for the tag :3#i know you tagged me ages ago so i won't tag anyone#but if this meme takes anyone's fancy please do go ahead and do it

The feast lasted long into the night.
They ate and drank and ate some more, creating a filthy mess in the halls. No one was bothered as their new prisoners would have to clean up after them. And there were many prisoners now that the island had fallen.
Tol Sirion was renamed Tol-in-Gaurhoth and was firmly under new command. The Maia, whom many called Mairon, ruled it, and he was nowhere to be seen. Only one other being knew where he was, and she too was nowhere to be seen.
And no lowly orc would dare question their absence, especially if they knew what was good for them.
…….
"How did it feel, my jewel, your first taste of blood?" said Mairon. He leaned against a doorpost, watching while his companion examined herself.
Thuringwethil gazed at her reflection in the mirror and inspected her mouth, searching for the fangs that were no longer there. Her first proper battle in the form of a bat was easy, but her jaws were still a little sore and her head had been spinning. It was the first time she had taken a life and consumed blood besides. "Strange," she mumbled. "And so exhilarating." She looked over her shoulder, smiling at him. "I never thought blood could taste so sweet or leave me feeling so full."
"Then you can have your fill of our prisoners, for there are many of them," Mairon looked around, taking in the elegance of their rooms and approving thoroughly. Yes, these chambers were now their rooms, where they could be together freely. No more waiting on the approval of others; no more rigid formality. Oh, Mairon liked formality, as it meant order and everything functioning as it should, but when it came to her? Mairon thought formality could take a flying leap. "Too many, I think."
Thuringwethil chuckled. "I thought our lord wanted prisoners? Live ones?" She tilted her head to one side and studied him.
Mairon was still as ethereal as the first moment she saw him, tall, proud, and otherworldly in his countenance. And that hair of his. Oh, how often she fantasized about wrapping her fingers around those fiery gold strands. When Mairon arched a quizzical brow, her cheeks warmed almost immediately, and she looked away. She wanted him, had always wanted him, she just wasn't sure if she was going to make the first move or not. It was unseemly at one point, to just give oneself without the blessings of others, to forego all the rituals and the vows that needed to be said. But now…
"Lord Melkor only insisted a handful be kept alive, just enough to serve us." Mairon shut the door, taking care to turn the key. He didn't want them to be disturbed tonight. "He said we can treat the rest as we see fit."
Thuringwethil could hear the key turning in the lock and Mairon's heavy boots thumping softly against the thick carpets. She swallowed, a hum rising from the back of her throat, her heart hammering away in her chest. Was he going to do it tonight? Take that leap and make her his in every way?
"And what do you think of these chambers, my jewel? Do they please you?" Mairon was close, so close. She felt it—his fingers running through her hair, his breath, and how the warmth of it made goosebumps rise all over her flesh.
"I..." she took a deep breath, her entire body trembling when those same fingers let go of her hair and ran down her waist. "I love these rooms, beloved. They are perfect."
"Perfect for many things, my jewel," Mairon crooned in her ear, his own body trembling with growing need. It had been so very long since that first chaste kiss and Mairon could wait no longer. He let his hands wander, let them slide over the laces that bound the back of her dress, and let his fingers do the rest. "If you wish for it, of course."
And how he hoped she'd wish for it, how he hoped she'd say yes. Thuringwethil closed her eyes as laces came undone and her dress loosened at the shoulders. She took another sharp breath when a large palm glided over exposed flesh. Her head tilted to one side when that palm moved to her shoulder, then her neck. Oh, to have that hand all over her body. Thuringwethil trembled and said, "Yes. I wish for it."
Mairon's eyes gleamed like fire in the light of nearby tapers. He pulled away and took her hand. And before she could even think, he turned her and drew her to him, his lips seeking hers.
His kiss was unexpected and warm, making her head reel. The soft sounds that rose from the back of her throat, a dreamy mix of whimpers and sighs, inflamed him. How long Mairon had dreamed of this moment, of a night like this, he could not tell. His lips plundered, his tongue slipping past her parted lips and taking in the warmth of her mouth. So sweet. Everything about this kiss was so sweet, and intoxicating. It consumed them both. When Thuringwethil hummed again, this time in a soft purr, Mairon scooped her up and carried her to bed.
The bed was as soft as Thuringwethil thought it would be, but she didn’t have time to truly enjoy it. Mairon’s mouth opened over hers, his eyes closing even as his body trembled with growing desire. Her lips parted nervously this time, her soft sigh sounding so lovely to him. She shivered when a strong, sturdy hand pulled up the skirts of her dress before going back to gliding over her thigh. And those lips that kept devouring hers—how hot and sweet and sinful they felt as they skimmed over her mouth. She could feel her body yielding, her arousal already pooling between her thighs. Thuringwethil sighed, unable to deny the very physical reaction to his touch.
Mairon helped her up, settling her on his lap and nuzzling her throat as she did so. She still smelled of wildflowers, even after so many moons serving Melkor. Her black hair had grown even longer, and Mairon had always wanted to see it spread over the pillows under a spill of light from one of the two trees. Alas, the trees were no more, and he had to content himself with the light from a few tapers. He kissed his way over soft curves and dips, groaning when he felt her pulse scrambling just beneath the skin. The pleasure came, slowly and prickling, just under his skin. He touched her with uncommon tenderness, giving himself over to the temptation to touch and tease, encouraging her to do the same.
Thuringwethil was unsure whether she was supposed to touch him or not, but she did anyway, sneaking a hand under his tunic and running it over supple muscle. Mairon moaned and held her even closer, his breath growing ragged and shallow when her hand glided over his skin, setting fire wherever they touched. His mouth kept tracing its way over her throat, this time nipping and tugging softly, leaving little patches of purple and red to bloom in their wake. That made her grind her hips into him, and his heart thudded in furious response. He let go and tugged at his tunic, lifting it and pulling it off of him. He didn’t even have time to toss it to the ground before she made an impatient sound and dragged him in with a frantic, hungry kiss. Mairon surrendered briefly before pulling away again, laughing breathily when she whined.
He kept grinning when setting her down. "Patience, my jewel," he said as he pushed himself out of bed to undress. First, his boots had to go, then his breeches. "There is no rush."
Her retort died when he rid himself of the last of his clothes and stood before her, and soft yellow light danced around his naked form. Thuringwethil blushed furiously before looking away and dithering, not knowing what to do or even say.
The room went silent. The weight of the bed then shifted. She picked up the pleasing scent of smoke and leather. A finger curled under her chin, tilting it up. "Look at me, my jewel. Do not be afraid to look at me."
And look at him she did, her eyes filling with desire and lust even as they drank in the hardened body that rose before her. She swallowed as her gaze traveled the expanse of his form. He was perfect. She thought Mairon was perfect. And he was hers, no one else’s. When Mairon held out a hand in invitation, she went very willingly, a gasp ripping through her when he hooked his arms around her and pulled her in for a rough, desperate kiss, one that made her entire body yearn with need. "I will be as gentle as I can," he promised, his hands sneaking under her skirts.
Mairon had heard the gossip among the Eldar, the things they whispered to each other about what they did with their spouses and how wonderful it all felt. He would scoff at such matters when he heard them, dismissing them as unnecessary and meaningless distractions, but now...
Now he understood. The moment he felt her bare flesh and how gloriously warm it felt beneath his palm, he understood. Oh, but it was more than just wonderful to him, more than just a meaningless distraction. He wanted to feel more of it, to feel more of her—those wondrous sensations that ripped through him every time he kissed or even touched her.
He tugged at her dress and pulled it up her waist and over her outstretched arms. It joined the little pile on the floor. Mairon then brushed back her hair, cradling her face with both hands. Molten eyes raked over her body, delighting in what they saw. Aulë had always counseled him to choose well, and Mairon was grateful that he heeded. "You are breathtaking, my jewel," he whispered, his breath hot against her skin. "And tonight, I am going to make you mine."
"I have always been yours," She murmured in a shaky voice. And she'd always imagined this night, of him taking her, of his body covering hers, but imagining what might happen and experiencing it in the flesh were two entirely different things. She trembled from more than a little fear.
"Shhh my jewel," Pleased by her words, Mairon crooned as he rubbed her back to soothe her. "Do not fret, hmm? Just trust me with this."
Thuringwethil was able to say, "I do trust you, beloved," before Mairon sought her lips again. This time, his kisses weren’t light. They devoured, robbing her of her breath, reducing her very bones to water. A moan escaped her lips, one that was soft and tinged with desire. Mairon’s hold on her tightened, bringing her even closer one last time before he lowered her onto the bed.
His hands were everywhere. Gliding over her thighs and skimming over her torso, he made her body burn with just a touch of his fingers. His lips moved all over her too, kissing, nipping, and tugging, gently at first, then harder, reducing her to a whimpering mess. Thuringwethil was flushed and trembling when he moved to her legs, his lips settling over the wetness between her thighs.
"M-mairon," she couldn’t help but gasp and whimper. Her hands snaked over to bury themselves in his hair, her body shaking as his tongue laved at her heat, as his lips skimmed over and around her folds. It was torture, but of the most pleasurable kind. Her eyes closed, and she hummed when an arm moved over to her belly, weighing her down and stopping her from squirming so much.
Mairon moaned when her legs moved to rest over his shoulders or her hands bunched up in his hair. He pressed his lips deeper, his tongue moving flat against her trembling nub, his body growing drunk to the sounds she made, those soft mewls and whimpers that rolled over her lips. It was good. It was all so good. He had imagined this night going a thousand different ways, but not like this. He groaned when Thuringwethil bucked against him, her grip on his hair tightening as her body grew taut like a bow string. She arched her back one last time, her body trembling violently. Mairon delighted in her cries of ecstasy, moaning when she poured against his mouth.
The room went blissfully silent and she heard nothing save for her ragged breath. She licked her lips and opened her eyes, her chest heaving like she was a mortal who had been running non-stop for hours. In all her days in Valinor, she had only listened to what the married ellith would gossip about with her and the others, the things they did with their eager husbands. It made her want such experiences for herself. Now she experienced the sheer pleasure of such a union, and she knew this was not all.
Mairon kissing his way back up her body proved it. "Are you ready, my jewel?" He asked.
Thuringwethil didn't answer with words. She reared up and dragged him in with a kiss, her legs hooking around his hips. Mairon felt like he was drowning in a dark wave of desire. He shivered when the insides of her thighs rubbed against his and when her arms circled his waist.
Gently now, he told himself.
He propped himself up on one elbow to avoid crushing her, rubbing his tip against her entrance, teasing her, and moaning when he felt how hot and wet she was to him. Thuringwethil was no longer in the mood for subtle teasing and gentle overtures. "Now," her demand came out strangled and hungry. "Please. For goodness sake, now."
With a growl, Mairon crushed her lips with his, distracting her as he plunged in with one deep stroke. Her eyes flew wide open with shock, then slowly closed when he started to rock over her, sinking his length into her as deep and as hard as he could. Every time his lips opened over hers she could taste herself on his tongue, and savoured it. Mairon grabbed onto a limp hand with his, interlacing his fingers around hers and pinning her arm to the bed as he continued to ravage her, desire and arousal hitting him in waves whenever she arched into him or her nails scoured his back.
She listened to half-mumbled words, soft vows, and solemn promises, returning them with equal feeling. The pain she felt at first turned into something else—something that grew and grew until it was about to consume her whole.
Mairon found himself spellbound by how wonderful she felt beneath him, how they fit so perfectly together. “Your body and spirit were made for me,” he breathed, delighting in the whimpers and mewls that turned into deep and satisfying moans. “So perfect, my jewel.”
Staring up into those molten gold eyes, she marveled how they always seemed to burn like that only for her. When she reached up and traced a line over his cheekbone, he sighed and closed his eyes. Oh, she would never tire of hearing that sigh. “As you are to me,” she gasped when he moved. “I want you, beloved.”
“Then think of me,” Mairon whispered, “Think only of me.”
She found herself being pushed back into the bed with each thrust and she surrendered to the wild demands of her body, just like she yielded once more to the demands of his lips. His name came out like a sob, and her legs scrabbled for purchase against his back, her ears filling with the sounds of his hips slapping against the insides of her thighs. Mairon pulled away and let go of her hand, cupping her cheek to make her look at him.
Seeing those ruby-red eyes darkened and heady with lust made him groan as he plunged harder and faster. "Let go for me, my jewel," he breathed. "Let go."
Thuringwethil somehow managed to keep her attention on him for as long as she could, her eyes closing only at the last moment as her whole body shook beneath him and his name blew past her lips in soft cries. The world seemed to stop spinning even as she trembled and trembled, and so replete was she in that blissful state that she barely heard him moan long and deep as he plunged one last time before spilling his seed inside her.
Mairon hovered over her, trying to catch his breath. There would be more nights like this; he planned on making sure of it, but what happened tonight he would always cherish through the ages. He cupped her cheek again, dipping in to kiss her softly.
There was tenderness this time, not heated passion. Thuringwethil felt like pouting when he pulled out and rolled onto his side, but she grew content when he reached over and pulled her until she was nestled safely against him. There were no words this time. Words would have simply ruined the magic that shrouded them. Mairon brushed back her hair and watched her eyes soften as she took him in.
Oh there were many more nights after this, but tonight would be the one that remained with them always.

Thank you for the tag @finwaytootired I know you tagged me in this ages ago, but I'm just like this T_T
How many works do you have on AO3?
16 apparently! Some are very very short though, 'cause they're part of a little rambly Mairon series
What’s your total AO3 word count?
33238 See! Short!
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
2-3 depending on how you group them. 1) The Silmarillion 2) The Hobbit 3) Star Wars
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1) There's a First Time for Everything (or Why Only Good Things Come From Spying on Wood Elves) 2) Let me Please You 3) Can Toddlers be Tried for War Crimes? 4) An Embrace of the Spirit (I'm actually surprised by this one XD) 5) Dark Days Lie Still Before Us
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Yes! ...Unless I forget to... If I've ever forgotten to get back to a comment you've left, I am so sorry T_T
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Oh that definitely has to be Take it Back. I even got complaints about it (more on that later)
Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Not on AO3..... *sigh* confession time... back in the day... on FFN... I had a SpongeBob and Phineas and Ferb crossover (the lads built a submarine and went to BikiniBottom).
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Hmmm.... not 'hate' exactly... but in Take it Back I decided to break up Russingon (I know, I know, I'm a monster) because Fingon thought that Maedhros had abandoned him and so had moved on. Someone left this big long rant about how I should write a sequel that basically undid everything that I had done in this one shot so that Fingon left his wife and new child (Gil-Galad Plotholeion) and went back to Maedhros and like... I get it but also, who leaves a comment on a fic saying that the writer should write a story where none of the original story happens or un-happens???
It also got a bit of a mixed comment where the person just generally seemed to enjoy the angst but also felt the need to tell me that they don't agree with the interpretation of the characters and that the characters had gone about the interaction all wrong. Messy emotions lead to messy conversations dear commenter..?
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Sometimes. Pretty tame though. It usually involves one character not really being that experienced. On one occasion it was for comedic effect, the other was because I accidently but not so accidentally wrote an aroace Melkor
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of. Do I have anything worth stealing??
I was accused of plagiarising once though! Someone thought my MaironxEonwe fic was too similar to another MaironxEonwe fic on the grounds that they both showed Mairon in Aule's forges and the two were talking about a festival happening in Valinor. You know, because no one in the history of Silm fandom has ever depicted Mairon in a forge and as we all know festivals never happen in Valinor.... -_-
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I'm aware of!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Myself and @outofangband wrote a short piece on Tumblr together once! Well, it was more like they wrote something and I jumped on to their post XD It was really fun though!
What’s your all time favorite ship?
Hmmm.... Angbang? Silvergifting? Fallen Banners? Mairon/Maeglin? (which I have now just decided to call Fall and Drown XD), Mairon/Eonwe?
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Hmmm.... there's nothing at the moment that I feel like I won't finish... but in terms of a WIP that I really want to finish? Dark Days lie Still Before Us
What are your writing strengths?
Honestly...? No clue...
What are your writing weaknesses?
I completely fail at getting myself to actually sit down and write in the first place. Does that count?
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Oooffff, it depends... How long do I have to scroll down to the a/n at the end to get the translation and how easy is it to find my place again? XD
Can I get the gist without knowing the words (the comment was an insult or term of endearment maybe?) or have I missed out on an important convo?
How much is it breaking up my reading experience?
Sometimes it's fine, and sometimes it's a pain in the ass.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
(Don't worry Elian, we've all been there XD)
Mine would be Star Wars. Not cringy in and of itself, but the writing was deeply cringy stuff though T_T
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
I had a lot of fun writing Sometimes Curiosity is Rewarded for the Secret Santa last year!
It's about Celebrimbor wanting to have a nose around Annatar's office and then essentially accidentally pledging himself to a Dark Lord (but he doesn't know that)
tagging: @foxindarkness @elennalore ahhhh, I'm blanking on who writes XD

all of the silm asks.
river we can’t keep doing this,
1. Have you ever called out a friend or a relative in front of a bunch of people? What happened?lmao no??? what kind of question is this??
2. What are your three most valued possessions?uhh idk, ever since i got robbed last year i feel like i realized that the things i valued most aren’t...tangible? like everything is replaceable, basically. i mean i like having stuff, dont get me wrong, and getting robbed sucked, but. i guess my phone and my laptop and my notebook? i use those things to connect with people and my notebook is full of stuff i haven’t backed up anywhere else yet. but once i get it in The Cloud, all i really need is my google account tbh
3. Do you have any enemies?uhhh not to my knowledge hjhfjhfd
4. Fëanor, Fingolfin or Finarfin - who are you most like in real life?lmao finarfin probably. i try not to be a Big Idiot and i follow rules and i’m not the most adventurous. tho i probably have some nolofinwean traits too, if i say i’m gonna do something i will stick to my word
5. Best canon ship in the Silm?do turin and beleg count? no? okay, in that case probably aegnor and andreth. (i’m a slut for doomed interspecies relationships, dont judge)
6. Best m/f ship?uhh, this one was harder than i thought it would be! since i already said aegnor/andreth... i know i really like the canon peredhel ships so elwing/earendil and elrond/celebrian are very good! and i think caranthir/haleth is really interesting too, but i don’t see them as romantic
7. Best f/f ship?hmnnn... i mean ALL the f/f ships are so good! i guess- nienor/finduilas is some Good Shit right there, and i’ve always liked anaire/earwen!
8. Best m/m ship?answered here!
9. Best canon friendship?uhh, all of them?? ok but: luthien and huan,, my HEART! (also aredhel and celegorm and curufin!!)
10. What made you read the Silmarillion in the first place?the fandom, tbh! when i got into the tolkien fandom thru the hobbit movies i devoured all the content i could but i never thought i would be a silm person, but then all the posts seemed so interesting and i was starting to enjoy the silm by proxy and fanon so i decided to read the silm and never looked back :’)
11. Ainulindalë and Valaquenta - yay or nay?i mean they are definitely the least interesting parts of the silm, so nay? i’m not really sure what this is asking? i don’t think they’re pointless or anything, but i cam here for the ELVES
12. If you had to describe yourself with a character from Tolkien’s works, who would it be?answered here!
13. Where in Middle-Earth would you most like to live?answered here!
14. Who is your dream partner from Tolkien’s works?they are all such DISASTERS...i’d be lying if i said it wasn’t gimli and/or fili though, lol (in an aro way, ofc)
15. Which two characters would you want as friends to defeat Voldemort with?luthien and ... finrod! both very powerful and good people!
16. Your opinion of Eru Ilúvatar?i don’t think he can be judged by human standards, because he’s so inhuman. like, elves are kind of Super Special Magic Humans but Eru and the Valar are so far removed from that... I don’t think Eru is evil or anything like that. i think the valar can’t really understand the Children and their conflicts come from that - idk about Eru, though, we don’t see a lot of him. he seems very powerful and absent, i guess? he only really intervenes when the situation is Truly Dire and then he shows more of a force of unimaginable power than like, divine mercy or anything
17. Favourite AU setting?i really like the two-steps-to-the-left-of-canon AU settings where everything is juuuusst slightly more magical than it is in canon and things like wraiths and revivification are more commonplace. that may be cheating though so i got to say that i’m always here for scifi/space AUs! (normally i’d go right to modern AU but i feel like because of lifespans, modern AUs fall apart with the silm unless you’re going very small-scale with them)
18. Favourite crack pairing/concept/headcanon?“crack” is weird in the silm because of the dubious canonosity of Literally Everything... my fav ~crack~ pairing is probably turgon/finrod but that has evolved from “crack” to “rarepair hell” for me lmao. i also really love @princess-faelivrin‘s fin-galad headcanon! and i am currently daydreaming about some way that nienor is connected to goldberry - oh and tar-miriel as the witch-king is always a good one. really, anything that keeps the ladies alive for longer!
19. First, Second or Third Age?i mean they all have their good parts, but like... first age, probably. third age has gigolas and all the characters from the hobbit, which is tempting, but there’s just so MUCH to work with in the first age! second age is neat too but i’m not really a numenor person so...
20. Funniest moment in the Silm?tie between turin throwing the cup at saeros and “GET THEE GONE FROM MY GATE, THOU JAIL-CROW OF MANDOS”
(if turin and feanor ever met, arda would collapse)
21. Saddest moment?i mean, turin killing beleg always fucking gets me, but also maedhros’s suicide and also the nirnaeth arnoediad and also just the whole fucking book!!!
22. Do you read/understand/speak any of the languages or alphabets?lmao no!! with resources i can put together names for folks and i can recognize certain elements of words, but that’s about it.
23. Who is Gil-galad’s father?i’m throwing my hat in the ring for Orodreth, but that’s only when i don’t want to make it like, a Thing. i really love explorations of this uncertainty (@elvntari‘s gil-galad fic springs to mind, as does @thishazeleyeddemon‘s lalwen theory, maybe with cirdan as the dad, and fin-galad is again a blessed concept) and i’m also very fond of the idea that his parentage is “no one in particular” and that he just stepped forward to claim the throne when no one else wanted it. really i’m open to every interpretation! except fingon. i don’t think it’s fingon. i mean, it could very well be that fingon is his dad as in he’s the one who raised him and claimed him, but if we’re going biologically i don’t think fingon contributed any genetic material to gil-galad
24. Angbang, Russingon or Silvergifting?i mean this is a no-brainer. of course it’s russingon! i do enjoy angbang and silvergifting, but like cmon.one of these days i’d love to write a really long angbang fic detailing everything btwn them, probably mostly from mairon’s pov, from ainulindale to the fourth age but that would be an undertaking. i do have a lot of tiny ideas for them that would be fun to weave together. as for silvergifting, just...poor tyelpe. poor dude. but i am suuuuch a slut for russingon lmao.
25. What would you most like to see in a tv series or film based on the Silmarillion?i would LOVE to see a book-accurate version but like. that’s VERY unlikely. a COH adaptation would be neat but probably too dark to make it to audiences without being seriously watered down. Beren and Luthien might be able to do it, if they could condense the supporting lore around the story. that’s really the problem with the silm - it’s like a greek myth in it’s epic sprawl. there’s so much story that you can’t really take just one aspect of it to the screen without taking all of it. if you don’t know about the silmarils you can’t do B&L, if you don’t know about the nirnaeth and the histories of nargothrond and doriath you can’t do COH, if you don’t know about the sundering and the exiles you can’t do literally anything tbh.BUT i would love a COH adaptation, if it’s done right. or a very ~experimental~ take on B&L. i have a lot of ideas of how to incorporate all the different versions of that story into one cohesive canon... ok i admit it i just want to see telvido on screen!!! and also werewolves are neat!!
also i’ve said it before but a 3-act play set in numenor....HMM that would be some good hsit. really, i think the mariner’s wife would make an excellent drama, but again there’s so much CONTEXT around numenor!the 3 acts would be 1. elros’s transformation into tar-minyatur (there’s so many possibilities to explore! it’s basically uncharted waters once you get to the details!) 2. the mariner’s wife (a pretty faithful adaptation, also tar-meneldur’s monologue when he passes the scepter on to aldarion is just. WRITTEN to be performed on stage imo) and 3. akallabeth (again, lots of ways this could go. i also think it would be really neat to double cast elros and pharazon. and sauron should be double cast too, though idk who as.)
anyway, wow this got long, oops. i have a LOT of silm opinions!!

Rules: Answer 11 questions and then create 11 questions, then tag 11 people.
1.) Your favorite AU
Probably my Angbang modern au (metal band au, hurr hurr, so original), or the angbaby au which I barely count as an au anymore, I’m thoroughly convinced it’s just part of the canon timeline (aka because 90% of their time is unaccounted for, they could have gotten up to a lot of things). But for these purposes, yes, the angbaby au. In which Melkor and female Mairon have a Valarindi child and it’s fuckin tom bombadil.
2.) If you were a fictional race/species of people, what do you think you would be?
Realistically? I’d be a dwarf. I fit dwarf to a T (well perhaps apart from the live-in-a-mountain-and-craft bit - I’m hobbity or elvish when it comes to my love of nature, but in every other way, I’m a dwarf at heart. If given the choice though, I’d be a maia.
3.) Flower petals or grass?
hmMmmMMMMm. Both? Both is good.
4.) Favorite spice?
I’m a bland motherfucker. Spiciest thing I can tolerate is garlic. So, garlic. I fucking love garlic.
5.) Favorite video game?
I don’t play that many, so um.... LOTRO probably. Sims 4 is second. I also hold Animal Crossing Wild World dearly in my heart.
6.) A character that deserved better…
ALL OF THEM um... yeah tbh all my favs lmao. Since I like a lot of villains and otherwise characters who are underloved and misunderstood and usually are made to suffer lol.
7.) Worst movie you have ever seen.
I try to only go see movies I know will be good. If it’s not good, I switch it p fast, so idk.
8.) Do you empathize more with heroes or villains?
Whoomp there it is lmao. Villains. I don’t empathize with the, well, murder or destruction, but er... I greatly empathize with the emotional struggles and conflicts villains have that are either absent or minimized or vastly different in heroes. The struggles of villains, are dare I say, more realistic? Well-written villains at least. Much more interesting if nothing else. Well-written, somewhat morally gray or tragic heroes can capture my empathy as well but I lean towards villains definitely. Like, I empathize with Sauron and Melkor 1000%.
9.) Favorite season and weather.
Summer without a doubt. Weather? Easier to say that I prefer minimal humidity and also maybe no biting winds or black ice lmao. Sunshine’s great, rain’s rad, that little post-rain window where it smells like petrichor and it’s both sunny and dark, good shit right there. I’m good with almost anything in the summer apart from god-awful humid days, it’s nice in fall if it’s not too cold and windy, winter must be quiet peaceful snowfall or it’s miserable for me lol, and spring can go either way.
10.) What is home?
Home is my house. It’s where my family is and my memories. Home is also nature. I always feel at home in nature. I am more at peace in nature than in my house or anywhere else.
11.) If an ancient being appeared before you and offered you one and only one wish, no matter how extreme, what would you wish for? Or, would you refuse?
sjfhdghd;fghd;gjlgj;ld pulling this shit on the last question uM
I’d probably go for the ‘unlimited wishes’ shit lmao then I could solve all the world’s problems plus get myself a lifetime supply of lindt chocolate idk lololol
not tagging anyone but if you see this and wanna do it, go right ahead and use the same questions or smth YOU HAVE MY BLESSING
