i think, sometimes, when talking/criticizing the idol-fans parasocial relationship, it's a bit too simplistic and easy to only criticize the fans side
#long tags ahead sorry i wrote a bad essay here and it wasn't even prompted by anything i was just thinking#of course we are fans and in a fans settings and it makes sense and it's good to discuss these behaviours!#but i also think we need to take into consideration the other side too to have a more complete look or we risk misplacing all the blame on#certain peoples?#and imo. it's too naive to pretend a lot of idols are not caught up in this too#and I'm not saying it's their fault either bc i think they probably get it drilled into their heads - this need to do everything for their#fans and always be thankful and not realising they don't actually OWE us anything -#but uhmm at the same time. they do perpetrate#you know what idk how to say it anymore sjbdndndn i am not good with words i just think they too have a responsibility in this too and some#of them could benefit from thinking about it more#even tho i understand it's not easy for them in their world/setting#like sometimes you see idols posting essays on how much they love their fans and they will do better for them and they owe their fans every#thing and they're so grateful for the support etc etc#and you have two types of reactions? and it's like. 1) people who are like 'remember your idols doesn't give a shit about you they only wan#your money' and 2) 'awww i love them so much they're so sweet 🥺 they really love us so much'#and I don't like either of them!!! bc sometimes you can feel how genuine they're being and how they truly believe it so accusing them of no#caring seems truly false. but at the same time !!! i WISH they didn't care tho!!! i DON'T want them to truly believe they love us or whatev#that's not it!!!! pls realize you don't owe anything to your fans and also stop with this idea of love. start drawing boundaries. for YOU#and yourself and your health#🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
