THANK.
I had to suffer the psychic damage reading about how people have just decided experts don't matter because occasionally they're ... wrong?
TF, who do you think experts are SUPPOSED to be? And who do you think YOU are to decide they're wrong? Like YOU'RE never wrong about anything ever? What are YOUR credentials to be right? Are you equipped to give a sourced and cited argument??
Good grief, it's fine and dandy to question things and then go educate yourself about it, but like. These people are looking up nothing new and then barfing fantasy like it's real.
In less than 10 mins, I did my own superficial research, learned that 4th person pronouns didn't exist, AND identified the 4th wall/4th POV errors before anyone on Tumblr ever pointed it out, AND learned about pronoun categories which made everything crystal clear just in case there was any lingering confusion.
It's not like it's hard. "We can just MAKE 4th person pronouns real because we WANT to beCauSe tHaT's lANguaGe. And how dArE you qUesTIon scHoOlTeAchErs." Eat dry cinnamon.
I keep seeing the "chat is a fourth person pronoun" post and it's getting increasingly hard to avoid starting discourse in the notes of it. chat I don't think they know what these linguistics terms they're using mean

A/N: Phew! Managed to get this done in time! And it’s a longer chapter too :D Do support my works by buying me a coffee! Follow me on Twitter for updates ~ See you next week! ^^
Jaebeom takes Yujin to the garden first. Standing a few steps away from the garden arch, pink flowers decorating the iron base. The vibrant petals contrast against the surrounding plain green hedges. Jaebeom doesn't bring her into the garden though. Instead, he briefly explains that it's more of a maze instead of an actual garden.
"What's in the middle of the maze then?" Yujin asks, looking beyond the arch. Interestingly, the sun is bright overhead, but the garden pathway is rather dark, and there seems to be a kind of fog clouding it, giving a mysterious aura.
"Oh, nothing much. Just a water fountain, that's all," Jaebeom responds, bringing her attention to the mansion instead. Yujin slightly frowns. Why does the fae seem rather dismissive?
"The mansion has an east wing and a west wing," Jaebeom gestures to the rectangular blocks that emerge from the centre of the mansion. "And there are three floors. The first floor is a common area, where the kitchen and the dining hall are located in the west wing. The east wing is where the servants' quarters are located."
"The second floor is made up of sleeping quarters for the rest of the household. That one, however," Jaebeom points out at the balcony just above the front door to the mansion, "is the ballroom. The third floor is the library in its entirety."
Next, Jaebeom brings her back inside the mansion. They step into the kitchen first, where Chan -- the one who served them earlier -- is focused on cooking a dish. There are two other faes busily moving about in the kitchen. None of them seem to be affected by their presence. Yujin catches the greenish glint in their eyes.
"Does your household employ different elemental faes?" Yujin asks when they exit the kitchen.
"Elemental faes prefer to stick to their own kind. But here, it's different. We don't follow the general notion."
"What about Jinyoung? He's your brother but he's not a Fire fae."
Jaebeom smiles ruefully.  "That's because he's my half-brother."
Yujin expects him to go on, but he doesn't. He leaves the conversation as it is. The next room over is the dining hall, but having been there during breakfast, Jaebeom skips to the servants' quarters.
"This is where the servants stay. If you need anything, you can approach them. Preferably, you should approach me though," Jaebeom murmurs the last sentence to himself but the silence in the house makes it loud and clear to Yujin's ears.
They head up the stairs, to the second floor. Jaebeom shows Yujin the ballroom, pushing open the large wooden door. It's basically empty, the daylight streaming into the room through the glass doors, casting a glow onto the marble-tiled floor. Beyond the doors is the balcony that she saw from the garden arch.
"We shall hold our wedding here," Jaebeom suddenly says, a huge grin on his face. In an instant, Yujin feels her heart drop. The tour has made her temporarily forget the reason she was brought here.
"Well, let's continue on." The fae walks out of the room, Yujin trailing behind.
He goes past the stairs and to the start of the hallway of the west wing, pausing there. "At the very end is where my room is located," Jaebeom states. "If you ever need anything, you can find me there."
Then they go up to the third floor, where the library is. The stairs form a bridge-like structure that splits into two pathways. The library appears taller than the other two floors, thanks to the roof that is shaped like a dome. It is made of entirely glass, allowing for the steady stream of sunlight. With the vast space -- a result of the merging of the two wings into one -- Yujin guesses there could be thousands of books in total: there are aisles of books, and every wall is turned into a bookshelf too!
"All the books in the library are my personal collection," Jaebeom gestures at the aisles. “But you’re more than welcome to read them.”
Yujin stares at Jaebeom, mouth gaping at him. She has always wanted to read new books but never had the chance, considering the financial situation of her family. They only have enough to sustain their survival, rarely anything more to purchase new things. Only once did her father gift her a novel that she has read multiple times throughout the years.
"Thank you, I’d like that a lot," Yujin can’t help but return a smile, genuinely grateful and happy. This seems to please the fae, for he looks at her as if she’s never smiled before.
"Well, uh--" Jaebeom clears his throat, “Come this way.”
Moving past rows of bookshelves, right at the very end, there is an arched glass window, with cushioned seats lined on the windowsill. Looking out, Yujin gets a bird's eye view of the mansion grounds, including the garden maze. She spots a fountain in the center, true to what Jaebeom said.
“It's nice, isn't it?” Jaebeom comments.
Definitely, Yujin thinks to herself.
“Well, that’s all there is in this mansion,” Jaebeom concludes. "I hope you’re more comfortable and familiar here."
“Yes, thank you for showing me around."
“Anything for you,” Jaebeom replies, eyes rather fond. "Ah yes, you’ll be fitted for your dress today, in the late afternoon. Yeri will remind you again."
“I shall leave you to yourself then,” he says, bowing politely and making his way out.
Yujin redirects her attention to the view outside. How advantageous is this, she realizes. Having a view from this angle will allow her to monitor the movements around the mansion.
She might have just arrived here and so far, no one has tried to harm her. Still, she can't get complacent. She can't let her guard down. There's a lot of things she doesn't know, questions that remain unanswered. But it's better she doesn't delve too much into it, she muses. The fae are skilled in deluding people, she reminds herself. It's better that she focuses on finding a way out of this place. She shouldn’t stay here any longer than necessary.
---
Yujin is woken by a shake on her shoulder, her eyes still heavy. She peeks an eye, the sun already casting slanted shadows through the windows. Yeri is standing next to the bed, reminding her of the dress fitting. Yujin quickly freshens herself up before following the servant lady to a guest room situated in the west wing of the mansion.
“Why couldn’t we do the fitting in my own room?” Yujin wonders aloud.
“It’s Master Im’s orders, Lady Shin,” Yeri responds as calm and dignified as usual. Then, she comes a little closer, and whispers, “Master Im doesn’t want anyone near or in your room.” She lets out a small giggle.
Yujin frowns. In an instant, the fae immediately reverts back to her composed self, as if she's done something wrong. Her sudden shift in mood has Yujin letting out a small laugh. Yeri smiles at her sheepishly.
The guestroom is as large as her room in the east wing. Seeing no one else in the room, Yujin decides to take her place at the loveseat. She’s rather thankful to have borrowed a book from the library and brought it along. She was reading it to pass time, but accidentally fell asleep until Yeri came. Basking in the silence of the room, Yujin flips open the book and continues on the page she left off.
She didn’t keep track of the time. She was nose deep into the novel when the door swings open and a commotion follows. Looking up, Yujin sees a male fae entering the room in the longest strides she has ever seen. He stands in the middle of the room, leaning his weight onto one foot. His legs are long, Yujin notices, and his cheekbones are visible beneath his slightly tanned skin. The next thing Yujin notices is the fae’s blue-colored eyes -- a sign that he is a Water fae. Yujin slowly rises to her feet.
“You must be the Shin Yujin,” the fae says with a subtle accent, looking her up and down. Perhaps elemental faes have different cultures and slightly different languages, much like human races.
“I’m Bam, your couturier,” he introduces himself. Before Yujin can even respond, he waves his hand and a mannequin appears in front of him, at the empty space between the guest bed and the loveseat. Bam steps forward, moving his right arm in a fluid motion and a measuring tape slides smoothly down his arm and into his hand. If Yujin had blinked, she might not have even noticed it.
“Measure her, please,” the male instructs and it’s like the measuring tape comes to life. Similar to water, the tape flows from the fae’s hand and slithers its way towards Yujin. It coils around her ankle, then spreads to her hip before covering her entire body like a tight-fit suit. It measures the littlest of details, leaving no skin untouched. Once done, it flows back down to the floor, creeping up to the mannequin. The mannequin morphs to be an exact replica of Yujin’s body.
“Alright, let’s see,” Bam goes. He crosses his arms, fingers underneath his chin, brows furrowed in thought. He tilts his head to the side, humming to himself. Then in the next moment, he suggests, “Perhaps a basic dress?”
Bam snaps his fingers and what appears to be snowflakes starts falling above the mannequin, to reveal a long simple dress. It is plain white, no design apart from the lace on the cap sleeves. The material hugs at the waist and tapers to her thighs, accentuating the Yujin’s curves. The tail fans out at the bottom, forming a smooth circle on the floor.
“What do you think?” the fae asks, glancing at Yujin. She doesn’t even get a chance to form her opinion, let alone open her mouth as Bam waves his hand, shaking his head. “On second thought, never mind. Let’s try another… I think… You’ll go better with an off-shoulder dress.”
Another snap and the basic dress moulds itself into an off-shoulder dress. The sleeves are long and tight to skin. There’s a dip in the middle, towards the cleavage but it’s not too low that it is racy. Around the waist is a rose gold embroidery, and the skirt flows loosely, multiple layers of light chiffon.
“What do you think?” Bam asks again, looking rather proud at his design. This time, Yujin has the time to step forward and feel the material.
The dress is beautiful, Yujin must admit, though she wonders if it suits her.
Just then, Jaebeom barges in, door slamming against the wall, his expression sour. “Bam!” he bellows.
“Oh, hello, Jaebeom,” the Water fae greets. “I think I’m just about done here--”
“How dare you make my bride wait!” Jaebeom raises his voice at the other, jabbing a finger into his chest. “Is this how you treat your clientele? Showing up late?”
Bam cowers. Yujin feels the temperature plummet. Watching the scene warily, she notices the candles around the room dimmed low, almost extinguished.
“I chose you as our couturier and yet, you treat my bride like a fool?”
“I’m sorry, Jaebeom, I had other business to attend to--”
“Excuses!” the Fire fae roars.
“Jaebeom--” Yujin intervenes, though her voice is small. Her own heart pounds in her ears. She definitely doesn’t want to be at the receiving end of Jaebeom’s wrath, but she feels the urge to defend Bam. The Water fae has his head hung low, avoiding any form of eye contact with the other fae. Yujin doesn’t know where she got the courage to move forward, such that she touches Jaebeom’s elbow. “It’s fine. It wasn’t a long wait -- not with a book to keep me company.”
Jaebeom looks over his shoulder. His anger seems to dissipate almost instantly. Out of the corner of her eye, Yujin notices the fires are back to normal. “Are you sure? I can punish him, if you’d like.”
“That won’t be ideal, would it? We need his service for our wedding,” she placates the male.
Jaebeom exhales steadily. Then he turns back to Bam, who is still looking down at his feet. Jaebeom jabs his finger into his chest once more, and spits, “You should be thankful to the mercy of my bride. Else, you’d be dead by now.”
The Fire fae faces Yujin once more, gently tapping her shoulder, a smile on his lips. His hand slides down her arm to hold her hand up between them. “If there’s anything you are displeased with, don’t hesitate to call me.” He brings up the hand higher, pressing his lips to her knuckles. Gently letting her go, Jaebeom turns on his heels and leaves the room. Yujin can’t help but notice how Bam immediately relaxes.
“Thank you for saving my life,” the couturier expresses his gratitude with a slight bow, a relieved expression on his face.
Yujin offers a kind smile. “I don’t think I did anything but you’re welcome.”
“Such amazing ability, you have,” Bam says. “I can’t believe that it’s true.”
Yujin cocks her head to the side. “What is?”
“Well,” Bam starts rather hesitantly. “Jaebeom has always been a hot-headed person, much worse than what you saw earlier. But his temper has mostly died down ever since he moved to this mansion, you see. Occasionally, he does get angry when it comes to important matters. But the fact that he was furious at me for being late and that you calmed him real quick… You really have Jaebeom wrapped around your finger.”
Yujin got reminded of Jinyoung, who said the same words. She shrugs her shoulders. “Maybe he doesn’t like truancy.”
Bam shakes his head. “I’ve known him all my life. And I’ve never seen him like this.” He crosses his arms over his chest. “You must mean a lot to him, considering that he’s protective of you.”
Yujin doubts so. There must be another reason for Jaebeom to behave in such a manner. Even if he is protective of me, it's because he needs me for something. But I wonder what...
“Ah!” Bam’s face suddenly lights up. He whips around and snaps his fingers at the mannequin. The sleeves are gone, and thin straps are added instead. Then, just slightly above the chest, a gold jewelry wraps around the mannequin. Magic flows downward, constructing a long chiffon cape that drapes all the way down, almost touching the floor.
“How do you find this?” Bam presents it to Yujin, his blue eyes gleam with pride.
“It’s-- Majestic.” Yujin finds herself amazed by the elegance it holds.
Bam grins wide. “Perfect for the bride of the Im house.”

It would seem that the RWBY FNDM is currently gripped in a merchandise controversy, namely the tshirt below.
Tumblr media
The discourse surrounding the T shirt has once again brought up the nature of Blake and Adam’s relationship.
Some are supportive of Roosterteeth’s decision to pull the merchandise, and others not so much. And it would seem that those who are not in agreement with the company’s decision fall into a number of camps.
I'm of the opinion that those people who are calling others 'snowflakes' or 'over sensitive' haven't been in an abusive relationship/situation and therefore don't understand why some people are so upset and disappointed with the RWBY Manga Women T Shirt design in the first place.
I don't think I have ever seen an abusive relationship portrayed seriously in this medium and an abusive relationship portrayed so well, in general.
CRWBY have made it unequivocally known that Blake and Adam's relationship is/was abusive, via out right verbal cues, and abusive rhetoric and behaviours recognisable for those unfortunate people who have been in abusive situations and hopefully eye opening for those who haven’t.
If this wasn't the case, why would so many people be coming forward and sharing their own stories and how much the Blake and Adam situation felt too real?
People who are going on about "it didn't happen on screen, so it didn't happen," are ignoring the visual and verbal cues that have been peppered throughout the series from the very beginning, starting in the Black trailer.
In a strange way, this lack of perception on the part of members of the audience who refuse to see that Blake and Adam's relationship is abusive is sórt of a meta commentary on Abusive relationships and how they are perceived general.
I'll get back to that point, but first, How Abusive RL can come about,
Often an Abuser will be charming, a pillar of the community, an angel in the streets and a devil behind closed doors. They present themselves as one thing, when, deep down, they are another.
They isolate their victim, with emotional and mental manipulation, guilt tripping,
"I Don't Know What I'd Do Without You?"
"Your Friends Don't Like Me, It's Me or Them!"
All through this stage they will be tender, loving caring, touching the victim in reassurance, reinforcing their falsehoods in an action known as handling and grooming.
"Your Parents Are Snobs, They Just Don't Want Us To Be Together!"
"They Don't Understand Us or How Special We Are"
Lying, gaslighting, and isolation from others who care,  wear down the victim’s self worth and options until they are absolutely reliant on the abuser for everything, emotional, mental and physical well being. At this point the victim is charmed and stripped of their autonomy.
Not long after this arguments will become more frequent and explosive, nasty comments directed at the victim, attacking their insecurities and the victim will have no idea what they have done wrong but they will believe it is their fault as at this point they don't know if they are coming or going.
Gas Lighting and Guilt Trip groundwork complete.
"You Don't Support Me!"
"You're just like your parents"
The victim will trip over themselves to reassure the abuser that is not the case, going so far as to be physically intimate, handling etc, as the abuser "sulks" or withholds affection... Making the victim work for it.
Then this is usually when the physical abuse starts..
First time, it is an accident, Second time
"I'm Sorry. I Didn't Mean It"
"This Is Your Own Fault!, For Making Me Angry!"
"You Made Me Do This! If You Had Just Done As You Were Told!"
The abuser will blame the victim for all their problems and things that the victim can not possibly control. The abuse will escalate whether that be emotional, mental or physical abuse.
It takes so much strength for a victim to leave, and no amount of demands to leave from friends will make them.
This is in no way the victims fault.  Victims are brainwashed at this point, programmed and also absolutely terrified.
They have been perfectly conditioned to the abuser. Isolated from friends and family, sometimes they have no financial independence whatsoever and in some cases children are involved and the abuser will also threaten their wellbeing. Some abusers may even threaten suicide if a victim ever thinks about leaving.
This fear isn't something that just goes away or disappears. Leaving an abuser is a difficult and hard decision, depending on the circumstances, might not even be an option at the time, but when they finally do leave, with courage and bravery, it is usually by running, in a moment when their abuser is unable to follow, (some cases it's planned in advance, in others is a bolt as soon as an opportunity presents itself. It can result in changing appearance, identities, hiding in a sanctuary of sorts, and always with the fear that the abuser might find them.)
Is this sounding familiar?
Back to the 'meta commentary', unfortunately we as a society have a nasty habit of blaming the victim.
Remember how I said Abusers are often charming and are pillars of the community?
"Oh, but Person A is such a good person and does such great things, there's no way they could be abusive!"
"They are a Police officer, surely they would never do that. She must be blowing it out of proportion and making stuff up."
"His wife is 5ft nothing. I'm pretty sure he can defend himself against her. Unless he's a total pussy."
"Oh, B, I'm sure it is not all that bad!"
The thing is about abusers, they don't do this stuff in public for all to see, (unless they get really cavalier and comfortable in their control of the victim) .
Their power and control works best when they keep their victim off kilter and have all around them not believing them, so to keep the victim second guessing their own sanity and questioning the nature of the relationship.
Women are beaten to death, stabbed, shot, etc by abusive partners every day, and it is an unfortunate truth that after the fact people make comments such as,
“I can’t believe he killed her. He always seemed so nice!”
By then it's too late! And maybe people ought to have listened?
This is exactly what the part of the fandom are doing by calling others "snowflakes" or "overly sensitive". They are belittling those members of the fandom who are telling you (often from their own experiences,) that this is an abusive relationship!
That they recognise all the ques that the audience has been given. And reducing it to merely a lovers quarrel belittles those who have or are experiencing the same things.
"I don't see this relationship as abusive."
Let's have a look at this shall we?
Tumblr media
In Adam’s short, he brings up Blake’s parents, calling them cowards, alluding to Blake that she is also a coward. This is something we find out that Blake actually said to her parents back when she was 12/13 (a very vulnerable age). Adam is playing on her insecurities. He also guilt trips her and then reinforces it.
Adam: I don't know. I'm out there fighting for us, and when you fight, people get hurt. What, do you want me to just abandon our cause? Like your parents?
Blake: (worried) No! I'm not saying that! I... I don't know.
Adam: I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought them up. I just get scared when it feels like you don't believe in me anymore.
Tumblr media
Later in vol 2 we see Blake running herself ragged, racked with guilt about what the WF are doing, she also admits to her team,
Tumblr media
and she did,
Tumblr media
Often the FNDM has been torn about the exact meaning of Blake’s comment in Mountain Glen and that all boils down to how you perceive the exact nature of their relationship. However, a reminder that abuse can come from many places, family members, spouses, partners, girlfriends, boyfriends and even close friends, abuse takes many forms. At this juncture there is no exact definition as to nature of Blake and Adam’s relationship.
Yet we move on to vol 3.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This action in of itself does not leave the Abuse question up for debate. He not only stabs her but then proceeds to threaten everything that Blake holds dear. And as we know he lops off Yang’s arm. (for the sake of argument we shall ignore the under currant of Blake and Yang’s developing relationship at this moment as there is no onscreen indication that Adam is aware of exactly what Yang means to Blake, other than Yang’s reaction and Blake’s terrified look when he says,  “Starting with her!”)
(Often abusers will threaten those nearest and dearest to the victim in a bid to maintain control and keep the victim fearful)
In Vol4 and Vol 5 we begin to see the slow unraveling of the morally grey freedom fighter persona when Adam becomes obsessed with Blake and her family, to the detriment of his mission and the overall WF objective, calling for their assassination with an ulterior motive of retrieving Blake.
Again, this control is abusive rhetoric 101. And often abusers are on the surface charming, collected and well put together in public, only for that facacde to slip when feeling that their control is waning.
Adam becomes almost unhinged to the point that it is commented on by the Albain brothers. That he has lost sight and has other priorities.
At the end of vol 5 , Blake finally stands up to him, and his peers begin to see him for what he truly is, a coward who was not wholly there for the faunus cause as he not only tries to kill everyone there out of spite, but then flees. Abandoning his fellow WF members.
And that brings us to Volume 6 where the abuse narrative is further cemented.
Not only does he stalk her across a continent, which for many abuse survivors is all too real, he tactically picks his opportunity by waiting until Blake is in a vulnerable position, away from her teammates.
Again, this is a tactic often used by abusers when they track down their victims. It is a very real fear of many survivors.
Tumblr media
Blake is terrified out of her wits. And Adam reems off yets another comments from the Abusers Handbook 101.  He tries to shift the blame for his problems onto her.
Tumblr media
Adam is wholly responsible for his own actions, he is a grown ass adult.
The fight between the pair is incredibly violent. Adam is out for blood and Blake is fighting for her life. Throughout the fight he continues to taunt, shift blame and play on Blake’s insecurities. Using every tactic of the previous grooming as ‘handling’ and ‘sweet nothings’ will no longer work. This is once again pulling on the groundwork of gas lighting and guilt tripping, trying to get into her head which is a tactic often used by abusers.
Adam: I wouldn't have to be doing this if you just behaved!
Suddenly, Adam grabs his sword and flings away Blake's cleaver, before knocking her in the side of her head with the hilt of Wilt. Blake gets knocked back several feet.
Adam: But you're selfish!
Adam knocks Blake back again.
Adam: You're a coward!
It is when Yang arrives that the situation shifts and the audience are given confirmation of the nature of what exactly Yang and Blake’s relationship is becoming and so cements and subtly confirms the nature of Adam and Blake’s relationship in the past, or at least how Adam views it.
Adam gives it to us himself, when he flies into a jealous rage when he sees the way the two girls look at each other,
Tumblr media
Adam: Hit me already!
Yang dodges.
Adam: What does she even see in you?!!
This comment in of itself, and the taunts leading up to this, is not the reaction of a butthurt buddy but implies that something more is going on and  tells the audience that Adam sees Yang as a rival for Blake’s affections, therefore cementing the nature of their relationships, completing the arc that began all the way back in volume 3.
"But, he was never meant to be like that, It was BAD WRITING!"
If anyone who isn't Miles or Kerry or a member of CRWBY claims they have personal knowledge of Monty’s wishes or intentions for the RWBY narrative as a whole or individual character arcs, can politely bugger off or provide solid evidence.
But app Adam isn't abusive, even though there is plenty of onscreen evidence to suggest otherwise?
If you still are not willing to accept it, then I don’t know what to tell you other than we obviously are not watching the same show and a small reminder that
Abusers are never what they seem, the public never see it and the victim finds out far too late. This was alluded to in Blake's trailer when she left him, and Yang points this out in Vol 6.
Adam: You know, she made a promise to me once. That she'd always be at my side. Heh, and look how well she's kept it.
Yang: Did she make that promise to you? Or to the person you were pretending to be?
"But they are fictional characters!"
Yes, but life imitates art and the medium is the message!
And in this day and age representation in media is a thing, Gerald!
And CRWBY could not have made the abuse narrative any more obvious!

Blind Love | Chapter 19 (NSFW)

Words: 1,615
Story Summary: When Dean is blinded on a hunt, Cas loves him through it.
Chapter Summary: Its winter and winter means snow
Warnings: Implied smut

“Sam, I think the heater is on the fritz again,” Dean says, tapping his way into the library with a heavy blanket wrapped around his shoulders.
“It’s not that cold,” Sam says.
“Not all of us are giant heaters.” he finds his brother’s leg where it’s sprawled on one side of the chair and kicks it, perhaps a little harder than necessary. “Fix it.”
“Bossy, much?”
“I might be blind, but I can still find where you sleep.”
He knows Sam’s making one of his signature “fuck you, Dean” faces, but he doesn’t care. All that matters is Sam grumbling his way down the hall to take a look at the heater.
“You could ask nicer,” Cas suggests, startling Dean a little bit. He hadn’t realized his boyfriend was also in the library, though he would have if he hadn’t been too focused on bugging Sam to notice the sound of another person breathing.
“Meh. What kind of big brother would that make me?”
Cas chuckles, scooting his chair back. He tugs at Dean’s blanket until the older Winchester is standing between his knees, so he can wrap his arms around Dean’s waist and press his face into a soft belly.
“The weather said it’s supposed to snow today,” Cas tells him. “Would you like to go check with me?”
“But it’s cold outside,” Dean whines.
“Which will make it seem warmer in here. Come on, you can bring your blanket.”
Dean pouts, but relents and allows himself to be lead up the stairs and out of the bunker. Cas stops in the threshold, causing Dean to collide with his back.
“What’s up?” Dean asks, slipping a hand from his blanket to grip the back of Cas’ shirt.
“It’s snowing,” Cas says, voice full of awe. He grabs Dean’s free hand and pulls it around to hold it in front of him. Dean’s pressed right up against Cas’ back, nose in his hair. “Feel it?”
Sure enough, light, cold somethings are landing on Dean’s hand. Snow.
“Oh,” he says quietly, wiggling his fingers a little. “That’s nice. Cold, but nice.”
Cas strokes the inside of Dean’s wrist with his thumb. “It’s beautiful. Maybe we can play in it later?”
He sounds so damn hopeful. There’s no way Dean can say no. Instead, he shrugs and kisses the base of Cas’ skull. “We probably have snow gear somewhere,” he says. “If we can find it, we’ll play in the snow. Deal?”
“Deal,” Cas agrees.
Sam’s voice wafts up through the tunnel then. “Guys, where’d you go?”
“Up here, Sam!” Dean calls back. He hears the familiar sound of his brother’s boots on the stairs. A few moments later, Sam arrives behind him.
“What are you- whoa! It’s snowing!”
Dean nods, holding his blanket tighter around himself. It’s starting to get cold, standing here in the open doorway while snowflakes land on his hand. Cas notices this and pulls Dean’s hand in to tuck it against his chest.
“Beautiful,” he repeats, but this time Dean has a feeling he’s not talking about the snow.
“Sam, do we still have snow gear?” Dean asks when the three of them are once again in the safety of the library.
“We might,” Sam replies. “It would be in one of the storage rooms. I don’t remember exactly what we have, though. It’s been awhile since we needed it.”
“Do you think we could go look for it later? Cas wants to play in the snow, but it’s damn cold out there.”
Sam chuckles. “Yeah, sure. Does after lunch sound good?”
“After lunch sounds perfect,” Cas tells him.
“Alright, so my stuff should fit you fine,” Dean says, digging through the box Sam pulled out of the storage room they’ve commandeered for their own stuff- not that they have much, but it’s good to have somewhere to put stuff when they don’t need it. The trunk of the Impala is a little emptier now as a result. “And I can just wear Sam’s stuff today. But we’re gonna have to get you your own at some point.”
“Okay,” Cas agrees, taking the coat and snow pants Dean shoves at him. “You may have to help me put these on.”
Dean chuckles, pulling the heavy snow boots from the bottom of the box. “I think I can do that.”
“Good. I want to go play in the snow now.”
“Well, let’s go get ready.”
It takes some work to get both of them into the heavy-duty gear and Dean kinda wishes he could see how ridiculously adorable Cas probably looks.
“I think we shall be plenty warm,” Cas decides when he’s dressed. “I want to make snow angels.”
“Have you ever made a snow angel before?” Dean asks, following his boyfriend up the stairs.
“Nope! You’ll have to show me.”
Dean smiles fondly. “I think I can do that. And then we can build a snowman.”
“Yes!”
Cas excitement is infectious and Dean feels a little thrill he hasn’t felt in a while. He honestly can’t remember the last time he played in the snow- he was probably really young. There wasn’t always a lot of time to play when John was around, though he did his best to make sure that Sam got to enjoy himself whenever possible. They didn’t stay a lot of places that got a decent amount of snow, either, so it wasn’t an option. In fact, they only got their snow gear after a case up north in the dead of January- werewolves who were apparently part Russian or something, because they definitely didn’t mind the cold as much as the boys did.
The air outside the bunker is crisp and cold. Dean immediately tucks his scarf tighter over his nose- cold weather never really was his thing. Cas, however, is thoroughly enjoying himself and they’ve only made footprints.
“It’s so beautiful!” Cas says, spinning around. Dean can hear the soft crunch of his boots in the snow. “So smooth as far as I can see.”
Dean can imagine it in his mind- the endless stretch of untouched snow surrounding them for miles. He bends and scoops up a generous handful. It packs in his hand just the way he wants it to. He forms a ball and tosses it in Cas’ direction.
“Hey!” Cas doesn’t sound mad at all, thankfully. Dean just grins. “Oh, it’s on now.”
This turns out to be Dean’s first real life opportunity to use all the combat skills he’s spent months working on down in the gym. The snow gives him good warning when Cas moves, allowing him to avoid his returning snowball, and helps him pinpoint where to throw his own. They throw a few more back and forth before Cas gets close enough to loop his arms around Dean’s torso, pinning his arms to his side.
“Gotcha,” Cas teases, leaning in to press the cold tip of his nose against Dean’s cheek, laughing at the blind man’s undignified squawk.
“I’ll get you for this,” Dean protests, wriggling in his lover’s embrace without really trying to get free.
“Mmm. We’ll worry about that later. Come on, I want to make snow angels.”
Dean rolls his eyes, but he’s smiling. “Okay. Find some snow we haven’t trampled.”
“Over here!”
Cas lets go of Dean, pretty much bouncing away. Dean follows.
“We’re going to lay down in the snow,” he explains, demonstrating as he speaks. “And move our arms and legs like this-” he waves his limbs, pushing and packing the snow to make the iconic shape before getting up. “See, the arms make the angel wings.”
“That looks nothing like an angel,” Cas points out.
Dean laughs, shaking his head. “It’s supposed to be just a simplified version of the way people imagine angels look. For fun.”
“Oh! I understand.”
Dean hears Cas huff as he lays down a little ways away, and then the sounds of snow being rearranged. When Cas is satisfied, he gets up and examines his creation.
“I think I’m good at this,” he decides.
Dean reaches over and weaves his fingers through his boyfriend’s. “I’m sure you are.”
By the time they go inside, both men are very cold despite their many layers. Still, Dean’s quite happy to strip off all the snow gear, leaving it draped over chairs in the war room to dry before they can put it away. He doesn’t hesitate to drag Cas to the shower, strip them both down, and get under some hot water to warm up quicker. He doesn’t even realize that it’s the first time they’ve been naked with each other until Cas points it out while scrubbing shampoo into Dean’s hair.
“It is,” Dean agrees. He loops an arm around Cas’ waist, forearm falling in the small of his lover’s back, and presses a kiss to Cas’ jaw. “I don’t know why I avoided it for so long.”
“Better to wait until you were ready than to push yourself too fast,” Cas tells him, careful to keep soap from running into Dean’s eyes. “I’m glad we waited. Waiting is what you needed.”
Dean can feel heat in his cheeks. “What did I do to deserve you?”
“I could ask you the same thing,” Cas replies, hands drifting down Dean’s back to cup his ass, pressing their bodies together. Dean is more than happy to return that favor. “Shall we try another way to warm up?”
Dean bites his lip, feeling Cas’ hardening cock against his hip bone. He brings a hand to between them, wrapping his fingers around both of their erections and pulling a groan from the other man’s chest. “I think that’s a good idea.”
