I've played 'musical' games before (I really enjoyed Dominique Pamplemousse, please try it, it's $1), and I think it's a really interesting concept creatively and technologically (because the challenge of composing songs to allow player agency to be too fast or too slow is something that requires extra thought both creatively and technologically).
So Stray Gods would be right up my alley but the songs we've heard so far in the trailer do not sound very good at all. You have to have good songs in your musical game, otherwise what's the point of it? And it doesn't make sense to hide your best songs later in the game. Most musicals lead with their better songs first.
I'll still probably play it because add songs to anything and you've done 80% of the job in getting my attention,.
#i need supergiant games to try this#you know darren korb would just kill it song wise#give me more moments like the end of bastion#like low key the way hades is scored is kinda of the answer to some of the#challenge of how to have songs in a game but make room for user input to extend or shorten the playing time#pay attention to the music in that game some time#you'll notice that songs tend to wrap up seamlessly once you've cleared a room#which is a triumph of composing#because the vamping parts never feel too obvious#and on the flip side#it never feels like it's abruptly cutting off because the player was too fast either
