hi! i just finished thihv and hoLY SHIT ITS SO GOOD! i also wanted to say that your captive prince fics are really, really good; like, i've reread them several times. i was also wondering if you had any tips for planing out a multi-chapter fic, bc i love the pacing in your stories and was wondering if you share some of your process? anyway, i'm seriously in love w your writing!

thank you so much!! captive prince has such a cool universe and great characters to work with :’D and uhhhh ok so I wish I had better advice for you here but tbh people thinking my pacing is good is news to me bc I just make up a lot of it as I go along.

I guess what I can tell you is that I almost always know what the ending is going to be either from the get-go or by a couple chapters into the fic. I also start with some main points/scenes that I’d like to include. i.e. in THIHV I wanted to include the Galra prison scene, the Sheith Discovery scene, the Altean Reveal scene, and a few others. This makes it easier, in my experience anyway, to write the fic without overplanning it, because you’re always writing to build up the next big scene while developing the relationship/plot as a whole. It keeps readers interested and the story exciting.

Here’s part of my planning/notes for THIHV, I do bullet points for general ideas and as you can see they didn’t all make it into the fic and they’re not all in chronological order. I also plan out sex scenes to a certain extent to make sure there’s variety and that I know where I want the scene to end up when going into it:

Shiro rescues Lance and Keith from the Galra byrecruiting the Blade of Marmora (rebel vampires, Ulaz, Kolivan, Thace, Nyma,Rolo, etc) to break into the base and save them, he shifts into his pantherform. Lance recovers from his blood loss and the infected cut on his arm atKeith & Shiro’s house

 After Keith first feeds from Lance, the power inhis blood allows Keith to shift into his giant bat form

Allura and Coran are part of a group of hunterscalled Alteans, because they are all descendants of the first vampire hunterswho lived in an ancient kingdom called Altea thousands of years ago

Lance eventually asks Keith and Shiro to usetheir thralls on him, they eventually agree although they are initially veryopposed to it

The conflict: after Lance and Keith are rescued,the Galra, especially Lotor, are mad and plan to attack, Allura and Coran amassmore hunters and the blade of Marmora to take them down (Lance, Keith, Shiro,Hunk, and Pidge don’t participate in this final battle)

Lance and Keith bond about space

Shiro has nightmares & doesn’t like beingtied down (he asks Lance if he’s ok with being tied up and Keith adds, “He’sasking because he isn’t. We tried that once. Didn’t end well”), his mostvulnerable moments are when he remembers being imprisoned by the Galra

Lance has feelings of worthlessness when Keithand Lance tie him up and fuck in front of him, but they immediately stop whenhe gets really quiet and still and he starts crying when they cuddle him andsaying that he’s not good enough, he doesn’t know what to do with his life, etc

Sex scenes will include: Keith blows Lance andLance jerks him off (while Lance is healing at Shiro & Keith’s house),Keith and Lance’s first time (Keith fucks Lance on his back at Pidge’s houseand bites his shoulder), Lance fucks Keith on his hands & knees then Keithrides him backwards and Lance bites him (also Pidge’s house?), CRAZY FIRSTTHREESOME SCENE WOOO (keith & shiro dp lance/lance gives shiro a bj, shiroeats him out, keith fingers him, & lance rides shiro while keith does himfrom behind & they both bite him), Lance gets tied up to watch K&S fuckbut gets insecure so stops after K&S both come (ends with hurt/comfort),then maybe some lil casual sex scenes, then SHIRO GETS FUCKED, then THRALL SEX(lance begggssss them for ages and finally they agree, keith rides lance andthen shiro fucks him on his hands & knees after keith comes, there’s a lotof edging/orgasm denial bc thralls make them able to control when lance comes)

so uh yep there you go, I can also say that idk how comfortable you are with writing smut, but smut can be a great way to further character development/backstory/relationships in fics while still keeping the reader engaged, so I use that a lot in my fics as well
