If Ubisoft does not bring back Haaz Sleimen to voice Malik Al-Sayf I will commit arson.
Allow me to list out why they need to:
He came out as Gay in 2017 (another reason to confirm Altmal you cowards. You know he would be all for it.)
Literally gave life to the character and portrayed the emotions of Malik so fucking well. You already did us dirty in Revelations by not having us see him at all nor mention him more then once. Don’t fucking test the gays and trans Ubisoft.
While also being the voice actor, he was also the face model for Malik. Imagine the potential of seeing the facial expression of rage on Malik in HD (I’m shaking)

okay I need to go into this because this is a huge point I should have expanded upon and I am so happy @asscrackcreed brought this up. @asscrackcreed if you could rebloh this version again I’d appreciate it. These details are super important and I want more people to see. You’ve got more influence then me when it comes to the ac fandom)
I did a whole research topic on the criminalization of homosexuality in the Middle East for college. I’ll summarize the important stuff.
Around the 13th and 14th century, Arab countries were considered to be the most accepting when it came to homosexuality. Although sodomy was still considered a major sin Lesbian sex, passionate kissing, and fondling were not. Not only that, homoerotic poetry was celebrated.
However, a couple of factors fucked this up. When the British empire came and introduced Penal codes, all homosexual acts were criminalized. Of the 70 countries that criminalize homosexuality today, over half are former British colonies.
Also, in 1980, Islamic fundamentalism was on the rise during the time of the gay rights movement and-in an effort to distance themselves with the West-associated homosexuality with the west, claiming homosexuality was “ravaging moral decay”
I’ll focus on Lebanon here on out since that is where Haaz Sleimen is raised there until he immigrated to the United States when he was 21.
Article 534 of the Lebanese Penal Code prohibits having sexual relations that “contradict the laws of nature” and According to an a PEW research survey regarding homosexuality and whether it should be criminalized, “80% said it should be”
I cannot even imagine the type of stuff he must have heard-growing up gay and not having anyone to turn to.
From what I know, he hasn’t mentioned anything about that. I imagine he wouldn’t because that can be traumatizing to talk about and relive plus it’s not our business to know.
But can you imagine how powerful Malik Al-Sayf being confirmed as gay would be? Can you imagine how validating that could possible be for Haaz Sleimen? Not just for him, but for other queer kids in the Middle East, who grow up in a place knowing they can be killed and knowing that if they where, many would look the other way?
Having Malik Al-Sayf-a strong disabled Arab man- being confirmed as gay could be so validating and liberating for so many queer people who cannot come out.
I’ll attach an article that is a worthwhile read. The book called “Unspeakable Love: Gay and Lesbian love in the Middle East” is a hood overview, but it doesn’t provide anything in as much depth as need imo.
