Welcome to the Republic of Trent

Trent is a fictional country set in the Sims 4, telling the stories of its different political families and how they started from scratch. In this post the systems will be explained, so if you are curious everything is below the cut.

Trent is a fictional country which elects leaders to different positions of Government; President, Vice President, Senator, Representative for the federal level, meanwhile for the local positions there are Governor’s, Provincial Board’s, Mayor’s, and Executive Council.

There are many and diverse political parties in Trent. Most party membership consists primarily of political figures and leaders, with little or no grassroots membership.

Trent has a multi-party system with numerous political parties, in which no one party often has a chance of gaining power alone, and parties must work with each other to form coalition governments for political expediency and convenience. Since no political parties have sustaining membership to which party leaders are developed, most of the political parties have the rise-and-fall-and-rise character.

ELECTIONS IN TRENT

Elections in Trent are of several types; The President, Vice President, Senators, Members of the House of Representatives, Governor, Vice Governor, Provincial Board, Mayor, Vice Mayor, Executive Council.

Congress has two chambers. The House of Representatives has numerous seats, of which 20% of those are allotted to Party-Lists of different sectors. The Senate has 24 members who are elected at a nationwide at-large basis.

Trent has a multi-party system, with numerous parties in which no one party normally has a chance of gaining power alone, and parties must work with each other to form a coalition government. The Electoral Commission (EC) is responsible for running the elections.

Elections for President and Vice President are separated.

During Senate elections half of the Seats in the Senate, in this case twelve, will be up for re-election. The top twelve candidates who receive the most votes will be proclaimed as the winners. Senators are elected to serve for six years. No Senator shall serve for more than two non-consecutive terms.

Elections to the House of Representatives occur every three years, Representatives are elected in their respective districts through a first past the post system. Voters are given two votes during House Elections, one vote for a Major Party candidate and one vote for a Party-List candidate, a voter may only give one vote if they wish. Representatives are elected to serve for three years.  No Representative shall serve for more than three non-consecutive terms.

Elections for Governor and Vice Governor have the same process for President and Vice President. Governor and Vice Governor are elected separately. This election will only occur in Provinces every three years. A Governor and a Vice Governor are elected for three years and can only serve three non-consecutive terms.

Provincial Board elections occur every three years. During this election, voters have a number of votes, and they cast those votes for candidates in the Provincial Board elections. Provincial Board officials are only elected to serve for three terms and are not term limited.

Elections for Mayor and Vice Mayor have the same process as Governor and Vice Governor, President and Vice President. A Mayor and Vice Mayor are elected for three non-consecutive terms .

Elections for Executive Council have the same process as Provincial Board. Voters cast their voters for a number of candidates in the Executive Council Election. Councilors are elected to serve for three years and have no term limits. 

STORY

The timeline for this story is 1 week = 1 year due to elections of Government Officials. So things are going to be running a little fast, of course if necessary, timeline will be paused to expand more on the story of the characters.

The story wont be focusing on one family or one character, it will be focusing on different characters and their background and how they entered public service.
