whaaat i hardly even associate leaving falsettoland with going into the woods... i don’t even care that the woods are real life and growing up and the parents of each child have their own way of trying to cling to safety for the children whether through abandonment or overprotection or strictness and it doesnt even!! matter to me!!! that marvin falsettos tries to keep jason safe by having what he has been taught is a normal family or that the baker thinks it will be best for his son if he leaves altogether, that the son can't grow up well without a mother. im indifferent to the fact that 'i want' in falsettos serves the same purpose as 'i wish' in into the woods and that both sets of characters have paid for what they wanted so badly by the beginning of act two and how marvins attempts to keep jason and mostly himself 'safe', even though he's already broken the whole family, go nowhere, because jason becoming a man is at the center of the story and the start to that is through pain and facing the reality that whizzer is going to die and entering the woods is inevitable. no more curses you cant undo left by fathers you never knew. ive made my choice, you can sing a different song. how did you turn out so great, who do i thank for the man you turned into? careful the wish you make, wishes are children. dont know why but he looks like marvin. into the woods to find there's hope of getting through the journey.
yes falsettos and into the woods are my favorite musicals i think about generational cycles and fathers’ relationships with their children a normal amount
#oskar if you see this i dedicate this post to you for texting me if i was ok because you saw me listening to father to son over and over#sorry for a weird long post btw it's night time#falsettos#into the woods#ziggy speaks
