hi piašŸ‘‹
i was looking into your patreon and noticed that the monetary listings were by ā€œchapter.ā€ would this, for instance, in the $5 tier mean that in order to access one unreleased UtB chapter, you would pay $5, $10 for two, $20 for four, etc.? iā€™ve only ever patronized (?) creators who have a monthly subscription system, so iā€™d love some clarification if you have the timešŸ¤Œ (a cursory google search was not helpful unfortunately :/)
thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!1!1!1!!!!1!!!xoxoxo
PS, i read on the latest UtB chapter that your week has been awful, so i hope it gets betteršŸ«”
Hi anon!
So you don't need Google, the info was there on my Patreon: if you go to the Patreon and go to the About section, this is explained in the very first paragraph (so it's easy for you to find in the future) but I'll also copy and paste it here:
Instead of charging for every chapter I release, I only ever charge twice per month!
There we go. Twice a month! :D You don't even need to be charged twice if you don't want to, as you can limit how much you get charged to the base Tier price (scroll down to read more about that) which I also explain on the About page! :D
If you scroll down that gets explained in more detail, so I'll copy/paste this here, but this information is always on the Patreon for anyone to check. I highly recommend checking the About sections going forwards! It can be easy to miss vital stuff without it.
How often am I charged? - Twice a month, max. You are charged per chapter, to a maximum of two chapters a month, even though I release more. This means if you pledge $1.00, with no cap, and I post four chapters, then youā€™ll pay $2.00. If you pledge $5.00, with a limit cap of $5.00, youā€™ll only ever be charged $5.00 for that month no matter what. If you want all the rewards but have a limited budget, cap your pledge and join a higher tier! You can also change your pledge amount ā€“ higher or lower ā€“ as your life dictates. This is meant to work for you, so do whatever feels comfortable. I'm happy to have you here for as long as you're happy to be here, I hope I can make your stay far warmer and cozier than what I put most of my characters through!
I don't release any early access Underline the Black there. I recommend either looking at my release schedule at the beginning of the month (or on Patreon and Ream because the schedule is public) which shows exactly what chapters are early release because it will have the tier next to it.
Right now the stories that have early access chapters on Patreon and Ream are The Nascent Diplomat, Underline the Blue, Underline the Red, Underline the Gold (all in the Augus + Gwyn tier) and Constellations (this one requires the Gary + Efnisien tier - which gives you access to everything in the Augus + Gwyn tier as well). It works out to about 2-4 early access chapters per month.
If you don't want to be charged twice a month or find it too confusing, I also have a Ream account which has all the same content, and that's only ever charged once a month for peace of mind. You can subscribe here for free and still see all the free updates in your email inbox, and upgrade in the future if you ever want to see early access chapters and/or support the free writing that's already out there. :)
I am very upfront with my charging information and also what is and isn't early access, but folks have to check out those About sections as well, not just for me, but for any Patreon. Vital information is often there, and it can be a good habit to get into before subscribing to someone. :D

Watcher has lost almost 100 thousand subscribers
Hi babygirl, thank you for your 6 new messages, I love that you think my opinion is this important, though I genuinely don't quite get it. I'm not even a Watcher fanaccount, like, I have maybe two followers who even know the channel. What beef do you have with me lmao Since you're so interested in it though, I'm going to give it to you! FOR FREE! Since that's so important to you!
Here's the tldr: You're on anon sending hate, so you already know you're in the wrong and everyone else knows it too!
Great. Now that that's covered, here we GO! My precious opinion that you value so much! For free:
I'm sorry it offends you that I have the 5,99 to pay them and am doing it, but like. Do you do this with everyone? Do you go into people's DMs (no of course not, you only hate anonymously, wonder why that is!) to yell at them about subscribing to Twitch streams? Spotify? Youtube membership? Patreons?
What about this offends you so? That a bunch of youtubers had to make a tough choice between "we have to stop creating the art we want" and "we could try and keep creating the art we want, but we'll need to get paid for it" and chose to try and get paid for it? Is the offense, to you personally, that other people will still get to enjoy the content they like, opposed to absolutely no one getting to? It certainly can't be that you, personally, can't access their content anymore, because, quite frankly, I doubt you actually like it very much.
As for your five billion questions for why this makes you racist: You singling out Steven makes you racist. They founded this company together and they doubtlessly made this decision together and the narrative that is currently spun of "Shane (the white dude) would never, his evil non-white co-workers are forcing him to!" is .... extremely parasocial, and wildly random and coming out of nowhere.
Except for all the parts it's not, because of COURSE. Of course the evil guy and the guy who creates content "no one wants to fund" and who now everyone calls "boring" and who now has viral hate tweets saying he's "dragged Ryan and Shane down", is the asian guy who's pushed for diversity on the channel from the very start.
Like, he's well aware that his shows are the least popular. There's a reason for that, sweetie, and I promise you, it has to do with the fact that they've focused on diversity and quality rather than shittalking in front of a camera. And I'm not even a Steven girlie, I'm a Ghost Files ride or die, baby!
But this narrative that he's "homophobic and racist" because he said in a podcast once that he chooses to stay friends with people who sometimes sprout ignorant views, that's like- Get a fucking grip. I know y'all haven't reached adult life yet, it is painfully apparent, but there comes a time in life where you'll have to realize that sometimes the people around you aren't as socially aware or educated as you, but in their nature good eggs, and you can, of course, choose to drop their asses, if you don't happen to be otherwise connected to them in an adult environment, where jobs and friend groups often overlap or they're part of your family or family's circle, but the far, far better choice is to be their friend and educate them. Because that's the best way the ignorant views become less ignorant. That's literally what he's been saying in that podcast ep, by the way. I don't need to "google" that and I don't need your twitter links, I was there when that episode dropped. I listened to it as I did the dishes. I was applauding Steven for putting in the time and effort and energy to DO that with people, because I oftentimes find myself too scared to have the conversations he is having.
Watcher has donated to queer charities. They sell queer merch. They have queer employees. Their fanbase is mainly queer. He's not homophobic, y'all are insane. If any of that would go against his values, he'd a) not be in a company with Ryan and Shane, because they wouldn't be having it and b) wouldn't stand up for, employ and cater to queer people. He'd be out with the homophobes, telling us how Jesus died for our sins or whatever.
He's also not racist which- duh. Before I even knew Steven Lim, I already knew this is something he is incredibly(!) sensitive about, he literally hates racism (And I don't know if you noticed. But he's very often the target of it, you absolute bufoon) and specifically went into Watcher to be able to help marginalized voices have a platform. That was his goal for Watcher that he couldn't properly fulfil in Buzzfeed. I know that. Because I was there from the start and actually listened to them talk. And it was stated and proven many, many times.
Y'all so eager to jump on a hate train and take shit out of context, it's pathetic. And "homophobic" good God, he had a book on his bookshelf. Wow. I have Harry Potter in three different editions on my bookshelf, I've learned reading with them. They have tear stains on the pages where Dumbledore died. You're gonna say I'm a transphobe if you see them in a photo? Gonna go ahead and call me, a trans guy, a transphobe now? Knock yourself out. Because I'll care about that about as much as I care about how many angry little kids are unsubscribing from Watcher rn: Not even a little bit.
You're whining like little bitches in random fan's inboxes, are throwing insults, false accusations and racism around to stirr the pot, you're coming for Steven as if Ryan and Shane aren't literally HORRIFIED by y'all doing this in their name to someone who's their close friend. As if Watcher would even exist without him, when he saved it from going bankrupt in their first year, when Ryan and Shane couldn't be arsed to step up and figure out how to run a company.
You weren't paying them anyway. I'm subscribed to their Patreon at the highest tier, because I know good art doesn't come free and I knew they were gonna struggle on Youtube views alone and I enjoy their content and want to help them keep making it. I don't expect anyone to be able to do that - And they don't either. They also don't expect everyone to pay or be able to pay for their streaming services. They're currently working on responding to the feedback and make things more accessible. They certainly didn't handle this perfectly and they certainly didn't want to make this choice if they had another one. Neither of the three.
You won't pay for it. That's fine. That's literally all there is to it. There's no need to sling this shit around, but you're doing it anyway. Not because you care, but because you're having fun with it. Well, go ahead. The more hate you send, the more I know I'm standing up for the right people.

YEAHHH SOLOMAMS FOR THE WIN- I'VE GOT KINDA AN OUTLINE OF THE SONGFIC TOO !! Preview straight from my notes that I wrote on the bus (the ring thing is something I've started doing):
"I wanted to say 10 because i have to go to bed at 10, but simeon said that was too early! So you better have him back here in one piece by 12. And no later!"
"Alright, fido. Back in one piece, got it" Mammon visibly fidgeting with his pinky ring, twisting it around his finger.
"H-hey um... Solomon's been trying to decide on what to wear all day. We've been trying to keep him out of the kitchen as well because he wanted to bake you something. He's just as nervous as you, even if he doesn't show it. So... Don't worry, alright?"
also horchata anything is to die for. There was some people selling agua fresca in a parking lot and I begged my mom to turn there so I could buy us some aksjdj.
And yes!! I keep getting videos of people making lace with all the bobbins!! Raphael would make the coolest stuff I bet!
OKAY THE LAST PART OF MY ASK GOT NAUGHTY LMAO, JUST A WARNING:
HELP, YEAH IT WOULD DEFINITELY COME UP WHEN THEY'RE GETTING FRISKY AJSJD. please imagine solomon takes off his shirt during and both Mammon and I point at different tattoos and are like "hey! I've seen a photo of that at the shop I go to!" and everyone does the spiderman meme pose "wait! you know about Reaper's Cave Studio?! How?!"
(Cue the three of them getting sidetracked examining Solomon's tattoos that they forget what they were originally doing.)
Like thirteen def posts on social media but also has photos on the wall/in a binder of past work she's done. And Sol is her test dummy, so his tattoos appear a lot.
Mine would just be a scattering of star sparkle tattoos on my collarbone, but easy to hide under my shirts so the boys usually never see them (similar to my sign off basically). I have an idea about the boys and my tattoos and it involves the constellations ,,,heh
akskf okay okay listen, about Mammon's piercing ,,,, hey man,,, h-hear me out,,, AKDJFJ pls im making myself sweat thinking about it because. I have. Thoughts and feelings that need to stay in my mind. But he definitely has nipple piercings and a dick piercing. I follow this artist on patreon and I can't imagine him any other way šŸ˜ like, the one where it's on the underside across? The jacobs ladder one is maybe what I'm thinking of ?? I'm not about to google that to see if I'm right though. But yeah! He just,,, looks good in gold is all I'll say-
IF I HAD ANYTHING ELSE TO SAY I CAN'T REMEMBER BUT YIPPEE SLEEPOVER SCENE SOON OKAY BYEE
- āœØ anon
a;lksdfjf LUKE being all protective and then reassuring Mammon in the next sentence I CANNOT.
I love when the Purgatory Hall crew act like a lil family it's so cute! And Mammon being all nervous ahhh precious babies!!
Horchata is delicious and I will get it at every opportunity! A friend of mine had horchata at their wedding and they had a couple gallons left over and they just gave it all to me 'cause they knew how much I love it. Truly the best week of my life lol!
YES the lace bobbins!!! I was like I can see it in my mind, Raphael getting all crazy about it and making intricate patterns with that stuff like it's no big deal...
AH that is EXACTLY the scenario I was imagining!!! Just everybody being like wait that tattoo!!! LOL!!
I love that you just recognize Solomon's from Thirteen's portfolio lol that is perfection! And it does make sense if he has a bunch from her!
Star sparkle tattoos I love it... also constellations!!
AH I want nipple piercings so bad! Um, but anyway, yes you are thinking of the Jacob's Ladder! It's barbells that go down the bottom of the shaft, so they're like rungs! I think three is the standard but I'm sure you could do more if you want. Anyway, I totally imagine the same thing I cannot believe that Mammon doesn't have at least one dick piercing and the Jacob's Ladder situation just seems like what he'd go for!
I'm also just obsessed with piercings in general so perhaps that has to do with it. But he's the only one who actually has piercings in canon that we know of, so who's to say he doesn't have a Jacob's Ladder, right??
The only reason he doesn't have canon nipple piercings is because Solmare are cowards lol.
That boy definitely looks good in gold...
WOO sleepover!!

Hi! I love your writing and think you deserve everything people give you on ko-fi (and more), but I just wanted to give you a heads up that you might want to remove the link in your AO3 profile. AO3 is super strict about ā€œcommercial activities,ā€ and that includes posting links to things like ko-fi. If they catch you, you could get banned. And that would be terrible, because your stories are amazing!
Hi, thank you for the warning! I genuinely appreciate you looking out for me šŸ˜Š
I've looked into it a few times, but you got me searching beyond the AO3 TOS because to be perfectly honest, they aren't as explicit as they should be when it comes to things that could get their users banned.
I found this post that actually explicitly states that ko-fi/patreon links aren't permitted, and it's incredibly frustrating to me that it isn't explicitly stated in TOS but in a post on Tumblr.
It is also frustrating because a donation link is different than a commercial link. A commercial link is advertising a service you are offering in exchange for money. A donation link is providing an optional place for funds to be donated with nothing expected in return.
If they don't want people putting any link that could be related to funds of any kind, then they need to be explicit in their TOS and list the sites that are not permitted (or at least give examples), because they make it pretty clear in the Tumblr post that ko-fi and patreon links are ban-worthy offenses.
To be perfectly clear: I do not have a problem with them not permitting these links. I do, however, have a problem that they are not absolutely explicit in their TOS and it took multiple Google searches to find an explanation. I am well aware that this is likely my tisms on full display but fuck it this is frustrating as hell.
ANYWAY. Thank you again for your warning, sweet anon. Especially since you got me to go searching further for more answers! I've removed my ko-fi link from my AO3, so if anyone notices one that I missed, please let me know here! šŸ˜Š
Have a good day!! šŸ’•

Hi sorry if I'm annoying you but how do learn the anatomy of an animal for example a cat? Like where do you go to study it? How do you know it's accurate proportions and form? Are there any good websites for this that don't charge money? Or is the 'line of action' the only one you know? Because i checked out that website and it was for just quick practices & you had to know the anatomy already & i cant keep on using Google cause they just give you tidbits of info and don't really go in depth
hmm. well, the next best thing could just be youtube videos. This one is a pretty good one in my opinion: HERE
You could also try checking out ArtStation. Itā€™s a site where allot of professionals in different kinds of industry typically upload. Anyone can actually upload there, but quality work from real professionals are plentiful here. A cool feature they have is that they got allot of work submitted in the Marmoset Viewport. Meaning you can look and rotate 3D sculpts in realtime.
For male anatomy, this one is good one: HERE
just scroll down and hit the play button. wait for it to load and you can check out a rather accurate anatomy for the human male. you can move around the body by clicking anywhere in the box and dragging your mouse. You can also move the lighting around the same way while holding shift. :)
Other nifty Marmoset Viewer models:Ā
Shark
Female Hip
T-Rex
Sea Turtle
Thereā€™s more, you just need to look for it :)
The next best thing would probably just be to get anatomy books. This one is one of my favorites.
Tumblr media
Of course these are not free. But theyā€™re not crazy expensive either. Asking friends and family to get you an anatomy book for your birthday or Christmas could be a good way for you to get it ;3
Hereā€™s a list of just a few anatomy books out there.
As for figuring out proportions and form, for me I still have trouble with it. Iā€™ve grown better as the more I practice. :/ Really the only answer I have. Itā€™s practice.
I probably canā€™t give you the answer you mightā€™ve been hoping for anon. But I do hope these help at least a bit.Ā

I'm sorry if this is a bother, but I've been wondering: are there certain types of asks you don't answer? Like certain subjects or if the asks are worded a certain way? Or do you not like to answer a lot of anons? I've sent a couple that I've been hoping to have answered for something I want to write, and I'm just worried I did something wrong. I know you probably get a lot of asks, so I'm sorry if I seem impatient. I'm just curious.
Hey there nonny! Itā€™s worth talking about how I handle asks, because itā€™s important. And itā€™s not at all a bother.
Last things first, I will never delete an ask just because itā€™s anon. I donā€™t do it. If itā€™s a good question, Iā€™ll answer it regardless of who asked. I prefer asks off anon, because it makes it easier to clarify if I have questions about your question and because youā€™ll automatically get tagged when it posts, but I donā€™t prioritize non-anon asks over anon asks.
However, I do have some guidelines for myself.
For one, I and the rest of the ScriptX blog family DO NOT answer real-world advice questions. Iā€™ve let some really good ones go by because the person was obviously looking for advice about a real world problem.
I do not answer any questions regarding sexual abuse of children, including ā€œchild brideā€ questions. Just no.
I dislike torture questions because I get a lot of questions for which there is no data, and a lot of ā€œhow much can people takeā€ questions on the topic, which are very, very difficult to answer. The research also makes me sad, and there are enough things making me sad in this world without researching torture.
Sometimes I get questions that are totally off-blog. For example, I deleted a recent ask for ā€œdo you do psychology? .....ā€ because we have @scriptshrinkā€‹ for that. I tend to simply delete these, because they misunderstand my purpose here.
If none of your asks have fallen into these categories, there is another reason your asks may not have been answered:
Tumblr media
I have 670 pending asks. The number has probably gone up since I loaded this page last night.
My queue posts 3 asks a day, which is down from my original rate, but Iā€™ve reprioritized masterposts, because an ask may help one person, where a masterpost helps LOTS of people. At this rate, the current wait time for a new ask would be.... 223 days, which is a little over 7 months. For reference, this blog has existed for 3.
So I have to prioritize. Honestly, easy questions are easy, and very tempting. Questions about recent events, such as recent blog additions or some changes, may get taken care of quickly if theyā€™re easy.
As to the rest.... Tumblr makes it very difficult to get to the bottom of an inbox that big, so I actually have trouble seeing the oldest messages. Theyā€™re also the ones I feel guiltiest about, which, paradoxically, makes me less likely to look at them.
At this point, going chronologically and answering everything is impractical. So Iā€™ve been sort of ... jumping around.
Asks Iā€™m More Likely To Answer Quickly
If your ask meets these three categories, Iā€™m likely to answer it over another question from the same strata of my inbox:
1) Easy. I know I should go for harder asks, but my time is limited. I try to find a balance of ā€œnot so easy itā€™s quick to Googleā€ but ā€œnot so hard I have to work too hardā€. The more easy asks I can answer, the more asks I can put out.
2) Generalizeable. ā€œI have X character with Y injury, what is the prognosisā€ is both difficult and very specific, because YOUR injury doesnā€™t match everyone elseā€™s. But ā€œWhat are the side effects of X?ā€ where X is a medication or a disease state are more generalizeable to more readers.
3) Interesting (to me). I hate to say it, but I dislike slogging through injury effects and complications. I would much rather answer an ask about a topic Iā€™m excited about, like cardiac arrest or burns. Iā€™ll still do the others, donā€™t get me wrong, and Iā€™ve been meaning to write more injury masterposts. But itā€™sĀ  more than a little bit difficult to choose topics Iā€™m less enthusiastic about.
Yeah, I Know. It Sucks.
Iā€™m sorry if that means I havenā€™t gotten to your (specific nonny and you-the-readerā€™s) asks yet. Iā€™m trying. But my inbox grows faster than I can post, and I havenā€™t found a great solution to this problem yet.
And for those who have asked: I am not seeking mods at this time or in the forseeable future. Sorry.
My dream is to make this job financially worth the value of my side job this year, so that I can afford to have only one job and answer more questions and create more content. But thatā€™s not happening right now. My Patreon contributions are down, and Scripty Swag isnā€™t moving the way I was hoping it would, so from what I can tell, Iā€™m not going to hit that target this year.
Right now Iā€™m working 60-90 hours a week--and Iā€™m in the middle of ANOTHER 13-days-in-a-row stretch, because my lovely employer decided to bridge my two work weeks.
Thatā€™s my reality: too few hours, too much overtime,Ā  and a big olā€™ mess of guilt.
I really do love and appreciate you guys. And Iā€™m trying my Scripty best to get your asks done.
Forgive me.

Hi Pia! Just want to ask what you strategy is for writing? I've always been more of a panster rather than a planner but i feel like that holds me back. Do you plan your stories before writing them? How do you go about building such amazing worlds and characters?
Hi anon,
I know I've written about this before but I got a year back in my asks and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for so I'm going to answer this again, and hopefully I can find this one next time, lol.
Firstly, I'm a pantser! The vast majority of my stories are not planned, and I wing them, pretty much everything I've written falls into that category except for The Ice Plague. You name it, I pantsed it. About a handful of longer stories got a plan for the last five chapters, which I don't really count as a story plan, because by the time I'm writing the plan, the story is 200k and I'm mostly just 'okay how the hell do I end this thing' at the end.
So for me, planning holds me back. I'm the wrong person to ask if you expect me to tell you how planning will help you move forward. Even when I am planning, I need to make sure I'm allowed to deviate from the chapter plan at any point (and do, regularly. For the folks who read my chapter commentaries on Patreon, so many of my notes are 'this wasn't in the plan! And this part made the story so much better.')
Er, so yeah actually, I don't know that I'm the right person to be giving advice here. Literally the vast majority of what I've written in like 10 years hasn't been planned and my god, I like it that way. I often feel trapped and blocked when I'm writing to chapter plans, especially when I was writing Perth Shifters. Deviating from plans helps me hugely. It sounds like you need to learn to get into the plan, and I'm looking to escape from it, lmao.
In that sense, you might actually want to find a writer who enjoys planning, or gets something out of it, instead of asking me! Since I'm the person who recommends pantsing to people, lmao.
That being said, I do (sigh) actually have to do some chapter planning sometimes, and I certainly have to do some worldbuilding sometimes. I'm not sure I can give any better advice than what googling 'how to do worldbuilding' can give. The biggest thing I tend to share is making sure you cap your worldbuilding, and that worldbuilding =/= planning your story, which is why it's good to give worldbuilding a limit before moving onto writing (or chapter planning).
I jump around the place on my worldbuilding. One day I'll focus on coin systems (the world that's coming up after Fae Tales has new days of the week, coins, etc. and I have to build the world from scratch), and the next I'll think about a character's history. I tend to limit myself to an hour a day, maximum. Some books I've done the worldbuilding for in like five days, others I've taken longer.
I usually go from an active worldbuilding period, to then diving down deeper on the characters, and from there knowing the characters will give me the major beats of the plot (since I'm more character driven than plot driven), and if I have to write a chapter plan at that point, I will. I have written a bit about structuring stories here, but honestly, it's possible to do this pantsing as well.
In the case of Mallory & Mount which I'm currently worldbuilding for, I probably won't plan much beyond that. I don't want a super strict plan because I don't know what the characters are like and I don't want to lock them down into a plan. I much prefer pantsing for getting to know my characters.
Okay I've been sitting here zoning out for like 2 hours on this ask so I don't think I'm going to get anything more out now, but if you have any more specific questions let me know! Basically, I am also a pantser, and I very much prefer it that way. You might want to google Plantsing, which is a mix!
