13 is an utter awful rat to Graham in It Takes You Away, she treats him horrifically as she loses her patience and therefore temper with him and never bothers to apologise for it, but nobody notices because she didn't raise her voice and it wasn't in a situation where she'd be expected to mother him, so it sailed over peoples heads. She lost her temper and she got Mean. She didn't get shouty, she got mean. She's not a yeller when she lets her anger loose, she's sharp and cruel and so very deliberate. And that doesn't track with peoples stereotypes of women, does it? Women are shouty and Shrill when they're angry, apparently.
She does it to the master in the timeless children, she's sharp and mean and cruel and never once raises her voice when she does it (she actually lowers her voice when she's being really mean btw). This did Not happen when you're thinking it did. Not in the matrix room. She had no idea she was scoring a hit against him there because she didn't understand what he was thinking (because he'd deliberately mislead her). It was in another part of the episode. She scores a hit and almost makes him cry and nobody cares or notices because it's not in a situation where she's supposed to be mothering him while he's all sad. He was being a jerk, she hit out deliberately below the belt and won that round, the end.
It's no that I think 13 isn't at times objectively shitty as a person, because she IS, she certainly was to Graham in the moment above. It's just that instead of looking at the Actual moments on screen when she sucks and dragging her for being shitty person, people have to resort to making up things to accuse her of that are Very gendered (as in, things women are going to get slammed for in society based upon sexist ideology) that never even happen, simply because they didn't pay enough attention to notice her being a crappy Person to drag her for that/they don't actually care if she's in general a lousy person at all.
Because they don't Want her to be a crappy person, that doesn't achieve anything.
They want her to be a crappy Woman.
#dw shit#i am not going to say when in itya it is. To make a point.#or point out Exactly when it was in ttc either#she also treats Hanne badly in itya by using her as an opportunity to teach ryan things imo!!#you don't leave a scared kid alone with somebody they don't like just to teach that person to play better with others doctor#doing so almost got hanne killed and honestly she could have hurt ryan running away as well#13 is exceptionally callous but despite people slamming her All the time i next to never see it mentioned#there is So much shittiness to 13 but people don't notice bc she's a crap Person not a crap ~Woman~ by values of a sexist society's#version of a crap woman (of which i do not endorse)#so we... make up gendered things to slam her for???#so bonkers#once again if i'm not talking about you i am not talking about you

I was struck by an idea last night after reading one of your posts and it just wouldn't leave me alone! So during the Mint Heist, the Professor is supposed to be in his early 40s and Tokio in her late 20s approaching 30. So I'd assume there is a 13-15 year age difference between them. We also know from the first episode that Tokio started doing robberies as a teenager, with her older boyfriend.
Now, suppose in an AU where the robberies don't work out quite so well and the boyfriend leaves Tokio to go his own way. Tokio is a teenager, she's left all alone, wanted by the police, she can't go home to her mom. She's lost and scared but she decides to try to manage it on her own. Unfortunately at that age she doesn't have the experience to plan her robberies well.
Cue to 30ish year old Sergio minding his own business and scouting out a location for a smaller heist for him and Andrés (the Mint heist didn't pay itself after all) and he stumbles in the middle of a bad robbery run by a teenager. Tokio gets hurt and Sergio wants to help so he manages to buy her enough time to get away. He tracks her down and more or less takes care of her wound. Tokio is mutinous about it but on the other hand it's nice that somebody takes care of her.
Sergio kind of interrogates her to find out the whole story and is in a big dilemma because he doesn't want to leave her alone to continue to live like that. As always when Sergio doesn't know what to do, he thinks of his brother and he remembers a very familiar scene : a younger kid, hurt and alone, looking mistrustfully at a young man who appeared out of thin air to take care of him, wanting to believe the stranger but at the same time knowing good things don't happen to him. So Sergio decides to adopt a 16-year-old Silene, like his brother before him.
So they just start to live together, and Sergio teaches her everything she wants to know, including how to plan/run a heist. He doesn't know what he's doing, but neither did Andrés and it all turned out all right in the end didn't it? Besides, she seems happier than before. Tokio is safe, loved and has found someone to trust who will never leave her. The heists are merely a bonus. Andrés hates Tokio the minute he sets his eyes on her. The feeling is mutual. For the first time in his life he's jealous because Sergio found someone to love...like he loves HIM. He even wants to get rid of her until one evening Sergio looks at him with his big eyes and says "Andrés she was just like me, and I could help her, like you helped me", and Andrés still hasn't figured out a way to say no to his Hermanito after 20 years. So now the 2 have an understanding where they don't stab each other because Sergio would be sad. They don't acknowledge that they might begin to like each other.
Just, all the father - daughter feels that Sergio-Tokio have in canon dialed up to 11.
Hi hi! Before I get into your idea (that I love btw!), just wanted to say hello!! You were the first person who ever commented on "Hermanito" and I remember being so stunned by your lovely review, especially because it was the very first lcdp fic I wrote and I was worried that it wasn't getting feedback because readers hated it. So you're a big part of why I kept writing for the fandom afterwards and I was so happy to meet someone who cared so much about the hermanos :)
re: the idea: OMG That is big brained, I love it. I think the professor was mentioned as late 30s early 40s during the Mint Heist so those numbers are definitely correct! The age difference between Sergio and Tokyo is what I always headcanoned as the difference between him and Andres, which just makes it fascinating.
I kept reading this ask, wondering where it was going, and it absolutely did not disappoint. YES, AU where Sergio adopts Tokyo early is not something I knew I needed so much until now. I just love his relationship with Tokyo so much (easily the second best platonic relationship in the show!). And I can see it- Tokyo too stubborn and afraid to go home, but also lost, scared, and afraid to show vulnerability :') This feels so much like her and it's such an interesting concept about what would happen if she and her boyfriend broke up early. Because I think she'd try to continue her life of crime, but like you said, without him around, she wouldn't know where to start.
And I love your idea for how Sergio would cross paths with her. It sounds like something he would definitely do for Tokyo, and yes LOL, Tokyo would be so resistant at first, but also secretly enjoy it so much because she's desperate for a safety net (not that she'll let Sergio know). And I love how this cements Sergio as even more of a father figure/guardian angel in Tokyo's mind than in canon, just by virtue of the situation and how much younger she is.
Of course Sergio would overthink it XD But you're really killing me here, this is the exact kind of content my heart craves asdfasf. This part especially:
As always when Sergio doesn't know what to do, he thinks of his brother and he remembers a very familiar scene : a younger kid, hurt and alone, looking mistrustfully at a young man who appeared out of thin air to take care of him, wanting to believe the stranger but at the same time knowing good things don't happen to him. So Sergio decides to adopt a 16-year-old Silene, like his brother before him.
PLEASE, that parallel just *gets me*. Because in very many ways, it's the same situation and I love that Sergio sympathizes with her from the start and it's fascinating how in that instant, he goes, "What would Andres do? What did Andres do? Imagine what my life would be like if Andres chose to walk away..." then he makes up his mind and takes Tokyo in :'D
I just love fatherly/big brother Sergio so much. And this is the perfect scenario where we get hermanito AND hermano Sergio at the same time, with bonus "daughter" Tokyo and I'm this close to screaming. LOL to Tokyo, Sergio looks like he has his so put together and he knows exactly what he's doing when in reality, Sergio is just winging it and hoping it turns out for the best like it did with him and Andres.
Andrés hates Tokio the minute he sets his eyes on her. The feeling is mutual. For the first time in his life he's jealous because Sergio found someone to love...like he loves HIM.
This is so in-character, I NEED it now. Andres is now a grandfather. In all universes, Andres and Tokyo will hate each other the moment they meet. But also in a hilarious way, this works so well now that we know he was the one who wanted her in the banda in canon. Like, all this time, the spiritual connection between Andres, Silene, and Sergio was bound by fate XD He hates her because she's literally the genbend version of him and she hates him because he hates her (+ he's just like, an annoying person). And I can so see it- Andres would be burning with envy over Sergio's attachment to Tokyo, but he wouldn't know why until Sergio spells it out for him.
Then he does the surprise pikachu face. Turns out it's just a jarring experience to see his hermanito, the one person he loves above all else, pick up his own hermanita and love her above all else. Once the brothers have that talk and Andres has this big epiphany, he Knows he can never get rid of Silene. Plus like you said, Andres can never deny Sergio anything, especially knowing how much he loves his "daughter" :')
Andres *through grit teeth*: Welcome to the familia, Silene. I will lie down my life for you because Sergio loves you.
Silene *also through grit teeth*: Thank you, Andres. I too will lie down my life for you because Sergio loves you.
asdfasdf They think they're just putting up with each other for Sergio's sake, and actively refuse to acknowledge the fact that they're growing on each other. But Sergio knows. Their "bonding" was all part of his plan and he just innocently sits between them with his milk and cookies while they all watch a movie that he picked because Andres and Silene couldn't agree on one.
Thank you so much for this ask omg. This is an AU I need with all my heart now. The funny thing is I actually really wanted to write a Tokyo & Sergio story, but could never settle on an idea. Now this idea with the father-daughter feels between Sergio & Tokyo dialed up to 11 set against the backdrop of extreme hermanos, is like a gift from heaven :'D
#yourcococris#thank you so much for stopping by!#I love this AU so much omg#if you don't write this#I might do it some day because WOW I think the world needs it#and by world I'm referring to you me and maybe 2 other people asdfasdf#PLEASE I just want Sergio with his brother and his daughter

I don't own the gifs. Also, thank you for your support. I really appreciate it.
In the morning, when Margrethe came to help her get dressed, Vanya knew what she wanted to wear. The blue dress she made two years ago for her father's name day. Blue had always been his favorite color, and now she understood the appeal.
The dark blue fabric complimented her figure. Silas, always said it was too provocative. But mother said that if she looks pretty, that he won't hurt her. Even if Ivar promised to protect her, it wouldn't hurt to secure her safety.
The thralls kept complimenting her as they did her hair. Margrethe especially looked pleased with how she looked. Vanya did not care for the reason behind as much as she should. She wanted to charm the youngest son of Ragnar.
So she left her room, working up as much confidence as she could. Yet the moment she entered the Great hall, all eyes turned on her, and she stopped. All confidence is gone and replaced with a blush on her cheeks. "Good morning." She greeted clearing her throat and walking to her designed spot next to Ivar.
All the boys looked at her, shocked. Her favorite reaction is Ivar, who stared at her as she was an angel. The other eyes made her a little bit squeamish especially when Hvitserk stopped eating with the spoon resting in his open mouth.
Aslaug looked at her proudly, which made her happy. Her goal may have been to charm her son, but she liked the Queen's attention too. She admired the woman's beauty and strength for raising so many sons alone.
"You look great this morning, Vanya." Ubbe complimented her, making her smile proudly.
"I agree, the dress is beautiful. Whoever did it knows the craft well." Aslaug smirked from behind her cup of mead.
Vanya returned the kind gesture with a smile of her own and twiddled with her fingers underneath the table. "Thank you very much, My Queen. I did it myself."
This surprised the older woman. She commented on how Vanya could make her a dress too. The young Princess, of course, agreed. Ivar still kept looking at her with wonder in his eyes. He wanted to take back his comment about sewing being tedious. The dress is anything but boring.
The brothers conversed between themselves during the meal in their language. They also kept giving Ivar meaningful glances, that Vanya had no idea what they meant.
After breakfast, the boys went hunting while Aslaug spent time with Vanya. The two talked about the upcoming wedding and what dress she should wear. The Queen of Kattegat had a lot of ideas. It was nice talking to her. It reminded her of the peasant girls talking to their mothers back home. She always wanted to have that with her mother.
But queen Sifflæd never spends much time with either of her children. She married her husband when she was 16 to save her kingdom from poverty. Back when they were kids, Silas mocked Vanya that their mother cared for him when he was a child. But she didn't bother to care for Vanya. Wet nurses and teachers raised them more than Sifflæd did.
No matter how much the Queen claimed to love her children, they both knew better. She was too angry at her husband to function. Too jealous of his mistresses to even play or speak to the fruits of her loins. It was easier to ignore them than him. And when king Osmond died, and Silas took over the throne, she was free to do as she pleased. She was still young and pretty, so finding a new husband was always an option. So she spent her time with her many suitors while Silas terrorized Vanya.
But Aslaug talks to her kindly, smiling and giving her advice on how to behave during the wedding. How to deal with Ivar and to tell her if he does something she doesn't like.
"Us women must help each other. We cannot survive in this world all alone." The Queen said with a stunning smile holding Vanya's hand in hers. The young ginger nodded, utterly agreeing with her.
They departed ways soon enough as Aslaug had things to do. So Vanya was left alone. She decided to spend some time outside on the bench outside the Great hall. A thrall bought out her sewing utensils as she continued working on embroidery on her last dress. It was a bunch of white flowers on the bottom part of a black dress.
Time flew by quickly as the princes returned from their hunt. They went to take a bath and didn't disturb her. All expect one. Sigurd stopped next to her when Ivar was out of sight and leaned against a support beam.
He watched her small fingers stab the needle into the dark fabric humming a tune to herself. "That is a pretty melody, Princess." Vanya jumped in her seat, her head snapping towards him. "Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. I wanted to talk to you."
Vanya looked at him confused but made space for him to sit on the bench. The prince sat down next to her and smiled at her, which was weird considering their last conversation. "I wanted to apologize for what I said. I tried to make Ivar angry and attacked you in the process. For that, I am sorry."
Vanya slowly nodded, mulling his words over. She wanted to ask why he wanted to insult Ivar in the first place, but decided against it. It was none of her business. "All is forgiven."
"That is good. I meant what I said. The melody was lovely." He seemed kind man now. So different from the man she met yesterday.
"Thank you. My wet nurse taught me that song. Do you know a lot about music?" The older man shrugged at that and looked back down on her embroidery.
"I play. But I would not say I know a lot about music. I guess we are both people of art." He kept complimenting her, and she had a sneaking suspicion that it was another way to anger Ivar. Or maybe he is genuinely interested in her work."I wanted to tell you that if Ivar hurts you, you can tell me."
"Your mother gave me the same offer. And I am very thankful for it. But if that happened... What would you do?" It should worry her that two people offered her protection from Ivar. But for some questionable reason, she didn't dwell on it.
There's no way the man who promised to protect her last night, would be the one to hurt her. He may have a temper. But maybe it's just a front. Everybody fears a dangerous man. It commands respect.
"I would make him stop. Mother would just scold him, and it would not stick. He is her favorite, after all. Men like Ivar aren't happy marriage material." Sigurd looked so sure of his statement it scared her.
"You make him sound like a monster." She said softly, hoping he would tell her that he is joking. Or he was trying to scare her. Anything but that Silas chose the devil himself for her husband.
"He is in my eyes." Again that certainty. It made her uneasy. She hated this man. No matter if he spoke the truth. Why didn't he just leave her to her dream of Ivar being a good future husband?
"Not all monsters do monstrous things. Some just pretend to be evil to be less vulnerable. He is supposed to be a fearless warrior; maybe he pretends to be this way."
"He is a Viking. But he isn't like the other warriors. He killed a child when he was four. He torments the slaves. He is not a good man. He seems to like you. So maybe he will try to act kindly around you. But only the gods know how long that would last."
Vanya nodded at the warnings that the fellow ginger gave her. She was so overwhelmed with how he looked that she judged him for his beauty. How could somebody so handsome be so rotten on the inside?
Sigurd left her side to clean himself. And so she was left alone with her dark thoughts. How naive was she? She dressed up for him in her father's favorite color because it reminded her of Ivar's eyes. She said she would judge him for herself and she decided too quickly.
What frightened her the most was the fact that she would be alone with him again tonight. He asked her to come. If she didn't, what would he do? She was terrified of all the possibilities of how it may go. He could hurt her, talk to her, the treatment her, make her like him, rape her...
Why did she not think of that? He didn't want to talk. He tried to win her trust yesterday. And today he would have her in his room, alone, with her guard down. He could bed her against her will.
She could call out to Sigurd and tell him what Ivar wanted. It could be a plan B. Her father always said to have one. It is safer that way. Trust no one, always be three steps ahead of your enemy, and don't let your guard down. Granted, he said it to Silas when he was teaching him strategies. But it could help her as well.
To her horror, it was already late. It was time for supper and a bath. And afterward, she would meet with Ivar. She looked down at the embroidery and frowned.
Vanya lifted her sewing needle to her eye level and watched the pointy object in concentration. Women must protect themselves from men. And a weapon means protection.
She slowly pressed her finger against the sharp tip and applied pressure. A bead of blood rolled down the metal and hit the dress on her lap. She flinched and pulled her finger away and stuck it in her mouth. It gave her an idea. She did not have access to a weapon. But she had needles. She could hide a big one in her dress. And if he tried anything, she would stab him with it. Then she would r run to Sigurd or Aslaug.
With her reduction made, she left the bench and returned to her chambers. She put away her work and went to the hall to eat.

I don't think i've seen this yet, but maybe a scenario where jigen tries to teach his crush how to shoot and it's like, a super intimate situation. :3c
I just like Jigen. He’s super funny to write for!! And of course he would be too much of a pro to admit he’s enjoying watching his crush under the xecuse of teaching. But in the end.... he’s a man. ^___^ Poor Jigen. And I kept this sfw. XP
“Why?”
Of course. His only question was this. After all the time being with the gang you had proven to be skilled with a knife and in close combat. But whenever you saw Lupin or Jigen shooting their guns, you could feel the jealousy. You wanted to be that cool! Or at least able to hit something that wasn’t an ally.
“Because I can’t,” you dead-panned.
He looked at you, cleaning his Magnum with calm hands.
“Sure. What gun do you want to use?”
Eh?! Of course you knew there were different models, but weren’t they all the same in the end?
“I thought of yours?”
He snorted and laid the gun on the table before turning to you with a laugh.
“Sure. And break your pretty face with the recoil.”
“It can’t be that bad! You do it all the time!”
“I’m shooting from the hip, with the right stance, having a different stance for shooting on eyelevel.”
You felt dumb now.
“Then what would you tell me to take?”
“A knife,” he grinned at you with good natured malice.
“I want to be able to shoot a gun, Jigen!”
“And I wouldn’t trust you with one.”
“Why?”
“Because you can’t shoot.”
You punched him in the upper arm, making him wince playfully.
“Fine, fine! Before you beat me unconscious, I will teach you,” he finally gave in under fits of laughter.
“This is the Smith and Wesson M&P380 Shield EZ 2.0. It’s easy to handle for a beginner and it doesn’t have such a strong recoil. Hold it.”
You stared at the gun Jigen offered you, before taking it carefully and almost letting it crash to the floor.
“It’s heavy!” you wondered aloud, making Jigen laugh.
“524 grams. It’s not that heavy. A good weight for a beginner like you.”
“What about your Magnum?”
“975 grams, unloaded.”
“Why is it so heavy?”
“Do you want to shoot or to learn the physics of a gun?”
“Shoot,” you admitted, saving the questions for later.
“I’m saving you a lot of time, so don’t be too disappointed, okay?” he told you, taking your hand and shoving your fingers into the right position.
“This gun doesn’t have a thumb safety, I will show you later what that means. For you it’s easier to use it.”
You nodded, slowly getting used to the weight in your hand.
“Safety first, so it’s unloaded for now. Just try and hold it like this…” he reached around you and raised your arm to eye level.
“And then the trigger, right?”
“You are going to hold it for now.”
Already your strength showed, or to say it better: your lack of strength. Just to hold the weight of this thing at the end of your outstretched arm was taxing enough and now Jigen had begun to press here and there on your arm to relax your shoulder and tensed muscles.
“Are you kidding me? How am I supposed to shoot like this?” you asked him annoyed.
“You aren’t. This is just to tell your body to relax when holding a gun. Humans tend to stiffen up when holding one.”
“Humans,” you imitated Jigen with a laugh. He looked at you and huffed.
“You want to learn it?”
“I just want to shoot.”
After a second he gave up and took the gun. With a swift movement he loaded it and had given it back to you.
“Back there is your target. Line up the…”
You had already pulled the trigger.
“Will you listen to me now?”
Jigen had found what he was looking for in the freezer and turned back to you, handing you a pack of frozen peas.
You covered your bruised face with it and whined at the pain.
At least you had learned your lesson to listen to the instructions before firing.
This time you wanted to be sure. Your knuckles had turned white, but as long as you had the gun under control, everything should be alright.
“Relax. I will help you.” Again Jigen positioned you with unlimited patience. But this time you actually listened to his advices, loosening your grip a bit, relaxing the elbow, taking a better stance. Finally it felt a bit better than before. Still unused to this stance, you wobbled a bit as soon as he took off his hands of you.
He had just laughed at you, asking you to hold this stance for 5 minutes. And you were ready to kill him. This was hard work!
“It’s another dimension from throwing a knife, right?” he asked, watching the clock on the wall.
“It’s hard.”
“That’s why you are getting a gun for beginners.”
Slowly it dawned on you what would have happened when you had taken his Magnum for the first shot. Your nose had bled, yes. And you had a black eye from being hit by the recoiled gun. But if it had been the Magnum? Surely your nose would be broken!
“I get it. I need to practice, right?”
“Learning by doing.” He got up from his chair and took the gun from you.
“Relax and watch.” Slowly he showed you how to load the chamber, unloaded it and shoved the gun to you.
“Do it.”
You imitated his movements, loading the gun successfully, smiling.
“Good. Raise it. Remember the stance.”
Again he patted every spot on your body down to bring you back into the first position and then he grinned. “Hold it for 5 minutes.”
You wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of giving up! You would show him what you were made of!!
Weak muscles. That was what you were made of. Weak, shaking muscles, ready to give up after the longest 5 minutes of your life. A loaded gun was a lot more heavier than an unloaded one!
“Ready for your shot?”
You nodded just a bit, fearing to give up your stance and having to do it all over again.
“Raise the gun a bit, hold it steady. Align the two bars here and there. Raise the gun half a centimetre,” he instructed you in a monotone voice, before nodding and saying: “And now lower the gun.”
What was wrong this time?
“Do it for 50 times.”
He hated you, didn’t he?!
“Jigen!” This was enough.
“You want to be a good shot? Your muscles know nothing of shooting. It’s a process of learning and repeating the same moves over and over again. Don’t presume you can raise a gun and hit something.”
You remembered your first shot. Not only had the recoil been to strong for you to handle, you had also missed the target by more than 5 metres.
Fine.” And you began to count your routine with him watching your every move with a concentrated look.
“50!”
“Let us shoot.” He nodded, accepting your count.
You were done. How should you shoot and handle the recoil after this program?! Your muscles were already shaking and your hands were sweaty.
“You did well. Let me treat you.”
Your gun was taken away, unloaded and packed into a case you would own from now on.
In its place you were given his Magnum.
“She’s a whole other world,” he told you, grinning at your scared look.
“It’s heavy!”
“I’ll show you how to handle this beauty.”
His body was all around you, his hands laid on yours. Slowly he shoved you into the right stance, using his whole body, guiding your fingers with his.
His breath was even, tickling your neck a bit while his eyes were fixated on the opposite wall, focusing on the target.
“Are you ready?” His low voice made your body tense up, hands already sweating in anticipation of what was to come.
“Pull the trigger.” His simple command vibrated in the back of your head and you followed it without thinking twice.
The recoil was so much stronger than you had thought, leaving you as a mess in Jigen’s strong arms.
“That was different,” you told him, amazed by the sheer power of this weapon.
He smiled and let go of you. Was he blushing?
“That’s it for today. You will need to practice a lot more to be an able shooter,” he told you, a bit rushed before taking his gun and leaving you alone.
Did you just hear your name?
You shook your head, moving along the carpet of the old house. Your first lesson had left you with determination but also with an aching body. A hot shower would be nice now to relax you and your stiff muscles.
Again! Somebody just called your name!
But when you looked around you saw no one. Of course. Lupin had taken off to a date with Fujiko and Goemon had excused himself this morning to meditate in the woods. It was only you and Jigen in this house. And maybe a ghost?!
This time you were sure. Somebody said your name! And it was close.
You stopped and listened. Maybe Jigen needed your help?
“Yes… like that…”
You blushed, realizing what you had heard.
He must be under the shower. Calling your name. Moaning.
Slowly, you crept closer to the bathroom door, not wanting to miss out on this show. And in your mind you were already planning the next training session. He would need to correct your stance a lot more, you decided with all the dirty thoughts playing out.
“Are you joining me now or what?”
His voice made you blush and realize that he was watching you.
Damn, he was good.
