sometimes i realize very suddenly that the movies i am familiar with are not the movies your average person is familiar with. i saw a post that mentioned the iron claw (2023), the godfather part ii (1974), and everything everywhere all at once (2022) as the best films about intergenerational trauma, and my very first thought was excuse me?? nothing from the first OR second taiwanese new wave???
