Summary: Being a space dragon is cool. Except for when you're too tired to leave a planet.. Thankfully, you have help from a new friend.

-You're a space being.

-A celestial dragon, if you will.

-You're quite a majestic being, even having some of your own constellations named after you.

-Perks of being a beautiful immortal creature.

-While you're practically immortal, you can get tired, especially after traversing through the cosmos.

-So every so often, you gracefully land on a habitable planet, to regain your strength for a few days.

-You more or less crash landed on this one.

-It was called Ooo, if you recall correctly. You're sometimes allowed to name a few planets or stars, but this one has existed for longer than you have.

-It's a little embarrassing to be taking refuge in such an old planet.

-However, you had the funniest encounter while on Ooo.

-It was little more than twenty minutes after you crash landed in an icy forest.

-You had knocked down quite a few trees and stirred up quite the commotion in a town nearby, as they could see you flying in from the atmosphere.

-You were trying to take a few splinters out in your dragon form when you met...

-Him.

-It sounded so cheesy, but you had never seen a more beautiful thing in the universe.

-Safe to say you were floored.

-Literally.

-He and a few... What looked to be scouts and knights made of ice neared you cautiously.

-He seemed to recognize you, which was a little strange. You guessed there were history books of some sort written about you.

-He introduced himself as the Winter King, and welcomed you to Ooo.

-Yes, he had definitely heard of you.

-You decided to shift into your smaller form. It was still ethereal and god-like, but it was easier on the eyes than being a twenty-foot tall dragon.

-You kept your wings and horns, just parts of yourself that you thought to be enchanting.

-the Winter King spoke to you, a little shocked at your sudden shift. You were wearing clothes, what other mortal customs had you missed?

"Well, *ahem* it is my honor to meet a celestial being such as yourself! If I may ask, why choose this planet?"

-You explained that it was the nearest habitable planet, and that it didn't matter too much.

-You didn't think too highly of yourself, as you were quite low on the god-scale. Only a minor universal god, instead of being a multiversal god.

-If that made any sense.

-You politely asked Winter King if you could regain your strength in his kingdom.

"Oh, why of course! A- anything for someone such as yourself!" -His pale blue skin flushed in a pinkish tone, and his voice faltered ever so slightly.

-You tended to have that effect on people.

-However, he seemed to be handling your presence quite well, so part of you wondered if he were somewhat immortal, or was just a magic user in general.

-You stayed for a little less than two weeks, learning quite a bit as you took refuge.

-You were quite uneducated when it came to planets like Ooo, embarrassingly so, at times.

-But it felt nice to have Winter King explain things to you.

-He seemed so respectful, yet so interested in everything you did or said.

-It turned out he was an astronomy nerd, and stories of you were his favorite.

-He wrote down practically everything you said, but as time went on, it seemed less like worship and more like interactions between friends.

-You preferred it that way, to be honest.

-You learned not only much about Ooo, but also much about the Winter Kingdom as well.

-Whenever it snowed softly, you would always spend time outside, sometimes dragging Winter along with you.

-You did everything from nap, to play in the snow.

-It seemed childish, but the two of you had quite a bit of fun.

-Not to mention the food there was absolutely phenomenal.

-You swore that you would return the generous favor of the Winter King.

-When it eventually came time for you to leave the planet, the both of you were quite sad.

-However, you knew if you stayed longer, you'd never leave. And that wasn't good.

-You were out on the terrace, having said your goodbyes to Winter and the citizens, ready to shift to your ethereal form to take flight.

-However, you felt something nagging at you to stay for a few more moments.

-You were correct to wait.

Winter called your name, looking to have run all the way up here. He placed his hands on his knees and took a few deep breaths.

"Winter..? I thought you already said goodbye?" Winter cleared his throat and stood up, placing his hands behind his back. He'd regained his composure so quickly it was shocking. He cleared his throat once again.

"It just occurred to me that I never asked for that return favor.." You brought your hand up to your lips, ashamed you forgot your promise.

"I- Oh my word, I apologize. I forgot."

Winter assured you that it was no big deal, and that his favor was only a small one. He stepped towards you, almost shyly.

"Well, rest assured, I can do almost anything. There is a grey area in which I'm unable to give, but otherwise, I will do anything in my power to grant you what you seek."

Winter blushed, his gaze transfixed on the ground. He seemed to be at a loss for words. Your large wings twitched, and after a few moments, Winter seemed to have figured out what he wanted.

"If it's not too much to ask, I'd like to request..."

He looked up at you with the sweetest of smiles.

"A kiss."

You were taken aback for just a moment, but regained your composure as quickly as you lost it. You took a step towards Winter, returning his warm smile.

"Well, if that's all you seek, I would be more than happy to give you what you so desire."

Winter shifted in place with an almost giddy expression, and looking up at you, you could tell he had wanted this for quite some time.

You'd be a liar if you said you hadn't thought about it prior to today.

"I would much appreciate that."

He said simply. So making sure not to waste any more of your time, you bent down to Winter's height. Despite being in your smaller form, you were still quite a bit taller than anyone else.

You caught his lips in yours, holding the embrace for a few moments. His lips felt cold, and it was all you could have hoped for.

When you separated, you gently held his face in your clawed hands.

"I have truly cherished this time with you, and I wish I could have stayed longer. However, my higher duties must not be ignored."

Winter nodded in understanding, placing his small hand atop yours.

"I promise I will think of you often, and will call on you if I'm ever passing through this side of your galaxy. That I will swear." "But until then, my dear."

The only thing Winter could remember of that moment, was the feeling of your lips in his forehead, and the silhouette of your ethereal form, fading out of the atmosphere.

7: an excerpt from your funniest, weirdest, or worst essay from middle school or high school

okay so freshman year of high school, we read romeo and juliet, and i had read it before but not in an academic context and so when my teacher said we were going to write an argumentative essay on which character was to blame for the whole... situation, i was like. no. that's not the point. so i very spitefully wrote an essay that i ended up getting an A on, which was cool because it very much did not fit the prompt. here's the intro:

Placing the blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet has been debated for centuries. Their tragic fate leaves the audience wondering: who was most at fault? Can the blame even be fairly shifted onto only one person? In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, two people become infatuated with each other, but their families have an ongoing feud that limits their relationship. Many characters have expectations set for the two, whether those expectations be that they should be enemies or that their love will fix the feud. They eventually take their lives as the result of a misunderstanding. However, it is clear that Romeo and Juliet’s deaths are ultimately caused by the toxic society and surroundings their own families helped create, and the arbitrary laws of society that their families enforced.

Liyue Chapter

aka, me summarizing a random idea about a hermit genshin isekai fic I'll probably write but wont Pt.2

ft. Grian, Scar, Jevin, Ningguang, Yelan, Yanfei, Xiangling, Aether and Paimon

Summary: Scar becomes the richest man in teyvat, and people think Grian is an adeptus and is very done, and Jevin is not having a good time with other slimes.

  Grian and Scar, wake up on that giant rock that looks over Liyue Harbor, Scar gawks at the scenery for a bit before Grian realizes that they are in a different world. 

   So they fly down the mountain, and somewhere along the way they stumble onto a bunch of ores (cor lapis, crystal chunks, magical crystal chunk, etc.) And Scar, being very intrigued by the shiny, mines it with his netherite pickaxe instantly, and instead of dropping one, it drops about 4 due to the fortune III enchantment on his pickaxe. 

   So they decide to head to Liyue Harbor, and both Scar and Grian are very much excited about where they ended up. They both take a few pictures of the buildings for reference in case they wanna build something similar, but then Grian notices the stares that are aimed at him and wonders if it was because of his huge parrot wings (they are big because watchers are CANON here) but just shrugs it off.. 

  A while later, Scar is now currently haggling and selling off the ore that he just casually yoinked to Shitou, the boss of the jade mystery while Grian is to tired to stop him and just went to Third round knockout and sat down and ordered some tea and bamboo shoot soup.

   Iron Tongue Tian obviously took interest in parrot boi, because how can you not? His wings makes up most of his sillhoutte. So the dude makes up a story about a half adeptus with rainbow wings on the spot to get his attention, which did but he just didn’t notice. “Oh? What a coincidence” and acts all oblivious to it. He didn’t really understand the concept of an adeptus but listened anyway.   At some point, Scar came back and asked for some soup as well. But then pointed how he didn’t have the money to pay, and then pulled out a bag of mora, which he got from successfully selling it to Shitou. Which he assumed was the currency of this place. Scar had asked for the bill but they said it was on the house for some reason. They had no idea why (Scar just thought it was because nobody can resist his good times), and went on with their day.

 They decided to check the old woman selling kites and toys from across the street. As they were checking it out, (Scar wanted to buy a really big kite, y’know the dragon one?) a child walked up to Grian and asked if they could touch his big colorful fluffy wings, and yes he agreed. The child very much enjoyed it:D. 

   After a while, the child’s parents saw them touching his wings and immediately called them back and apologized for the child “I’m sorry oh great adeptus, please don’t mind my child.” and Grian’s just there like ???

   What he doesn’t know however, is that people think he is an adeptus. He didn’t realize that the world could sense his watcher aura and people started to notice, but the citizens confused it for adeptus aura.   He just waves them off and says he doesn’t mind and he thinks the child is pretty cute (though the family just thinks that he just literally gave the child an adeptus blessing or smthn)  and says goodbye. Scar finally gets his kite and they both head to Yujing terrace to fly it, and then gets hit by the idea of “How much mora do you think I can make?”

And then somewhere along the lines, Scar somehow becomes the richest person in Teyvat within a week. (Meanwhile somewhere in Snezhnaya, Pantalone heard rumors that some guy’s net worth is larger than his and fell over and couldn’t get up like a dramatic turtle)

   Liyue is not okay about this. Somehow he evaded breaking the law despite not knowing it, Yanfei and Yelan can’t find any flaws or any heinous intentions from him. Ningguang is shocked about the fact that there is another Jade chamber flying about, but it’s built over a mountain that definitely wasn’t there the last time anybody checked. Scar and Grian had somehow built themselves a whole mountain and a home because of how decked out they were and how many resources they already had.   The only difference however, was that their home was also free to the public, meaning that anyone can go in and out as they wish so long as nobody does anything bad. What made it even more welcoming was that there was a Jellie panda sanctuary on the mountain. 

  They asked where it came from, Grian would not say anything.   Rumors started spouting from the Liyueans about how Scars' riches and success had come from the adeptus that accompanied him. And now whenever Grian goes out to go shopping, people keep coming over to him to ask for blessings. Grian was usually either very annoyed, or decided to take advantage of it. (He heard people started to assume Scar was some kind of reincarnation of Rex Lapis and was very much done)

   Meanwhile, Jevin had actually woken up near the entrance to Qingce Village, he was perfectly fine at first… Then a bunch of different slimes with different elements started following him like ducklings and he immediately left since the slimes were bothering him a lot. He tried to ask for help from the locals… but they obviously ran away because he is also a slime, but just a sentient human-shaped one. So now he is just stuck in a tree, with all the slimes surrounding him.   A few days later, Aether and Paimon received a commission from the guild about a group of slimes that were led by a scary looking slime person and have been terrorizing the villagers. Along with Xiangling and Guoba who decided to join, they went over to check it out andddd…   …Cliff hanger :)

Bonus: Meanwhile in the depths of the Chasm, you can hear the faint hums and whispers of an old man mining away in the caves.

Ok I hope this is ok and not like super weird and rude. But I was stuck in like Insomnia Land(tm) a few weeks ago and was thinking about Janus in Pieces and Durant in laoft and wanted to share some of my thoughts

Cus middle of the night me was like “oh I wonder if/how Janus will ever be added to laoft, I really love how Violet writes him in pieces” bc I just.... lowkey forgot Durant was pre-name reveal Janus lol. And then I remembered but then i was like... well what if he just added him anyway??

And then bc it was the middle of the night and I have adhd I just started brainstorming that idea so ima leave it here. (Again hopefully that’s not rude I don’t wanna seem like I’m trying to take over ur AU or anything!)

Anyway here’s my rambling/brainstorm:

- so u know how Virgil is literally born of shadows and fear? Janus is the same, but with deception

- specifically the deception when Durant poisoned Virgil. The betrayal was so strong it literally spawned a whole new fae

- except this fae is a little.... off.

- he comes to consciousness rather slowly. It’s like a few weeks of this hazy in between of not quite existing but also not quite not existing. But when he eventually wakes up in the clearing where Durant poisoned Virgil he remembers Durant’s deception.

- Janus looks very similar to Durant. There are only slight differences, his eyes are slightly brighter and his hair is slightly darker. He looks a bit younger too. The most obvious is that where Durant’s scars were, Janus has discolored scales in a matching pattern

- the other major difference? While every other Fae can only speak the truth, Janus can only speak in lies. He is literally deception givin form. Literally Deceit.

- any fae he meets in the forest is pretty hostile to him because they see him as “cursed” or “unnatural”, since he literally somehow inverted one of the rules of their world

- so for the hundred odd years Virgil is sleeping Janus just kinda fucks off as deep into the forest and as far away from other fae or humans as he can

- he specifically tries to avoid both Virgil and Durant. Virgil bc he figures “who wouldn’t hate the physical manifestation of that time their brother attempted fratricide?”. And he avoids Durant bc he knows the Truth and knows Durant would probably kill him to keep him quiet

- he’s not necessarily guilty about being born from Durant’s deception, but he is far from proud of it

- anyway Janus does a decent job of hiding from the majority of fae, untilllll he meets Remus in the woods. Oops?

- this is like. Post-therapy Remus so he’s at the point where he sees “Dee” and is like U BITCH and just immediately attacks him

- and ofc he’s like “dee how tf are you alive?”

- poor Janus WANTS to say “I’m not him” but what comes out instead is:

“Yeah hi I’m definitely Durant.”

Bc he’s just panicking and his brain automatically just takes true statements and flips them and that’s basically what he says to people

Anyway it’s very confusing for a hot minute but they eventually figure stuff out. Remus probably wants Janus to go meet the others while Janus definitely does not want that. It’s also mildly triggering for Remus, Roman and Virgil but ya know they figure stuff out and it’s all chill in the end!

Anyway that’s my little ramble lol I hope you found it mildly entertaining? I didn’t stick really as close to real fae lore (though I guess you could argue Janus still kinda has to tell the truth he just speaks in like opposite talk or smthn lol). Bshdhh yeah you don’t need to do anything with this I just figured u might find it interesting?? Sorry again if it’s rude I wasn’t trying to be hdhdhhhdhfh

Ok. Ima say smthn really controversial. But Pls hear me out

The way MCU Spider-Man is written completely, disastrously misrepresented Peter Parker’s Spider-Man, to the point where it’s damaging to the character’s legacy

Also like the writing choices also have some lowkey racist and antisemetic undertones, which are hopefully accidental, but we’ll get to that 

NOW WAIT. Before you send the hate mail please hear me out! Bc tbh I like a lot about the spider man movies!!! All the actors are like perfect choices and almost all of the scenes work really really well on their own

But there’s a HUGE problem with the portrayal of the character as a whole. Because the writers completely threw away the heart of Peter Parker’s spiderman in the name of ripping off Miles Morales’s spiderman.

We all know the “with great power comes great responsibility” line, right? Well there’s a bit more to it than just that

Peter Parker as a character is meant to embody the Jewish concept of Tikkun Olum. Translated literally tikkun olum means “repair/heal the world”. It’s a major concept in Judaism, and basically teaches that it’s everyone’s responsibility to do as much good as they are able to. Not just by being kind when the chance presents itself, but by actively seeking out things to help with. (Hey, doing the right thing bc u have the power to? Sounds familiar!!) it’s supposed to be his whole motivation, and what he represents as a cultural icon

But in the MCU movies he’s completely rewritten for his motivation to instead be to live up to Tony Stark���s legacy. A character arc that is one of the many, many things straight up stolen by the MCU writers from Miles Morales’s spiderman.

And like.... it just doesn’t work the same way guys. Not only because that’s not what Peter Parker’s spiderman is about at all, but also because there’s a lot of different connotations bc of the different characters/how it’s portrayed specifically in the movies, bc it completely erases the Jewish themes and history behind an inherently Jewish character, and bc it’s basically stealing a story meant specifically for black characters and giving it to a white one instead. (Not just miles btw- Riri Williams- the person who is actually supposed to continue the iron man legacy- is a black woman literally replaced by a white boy. That’s.... really not great)

Which is a huge issue, and greatly damages the legacy of the character. spiderman is a cultural icon. He’s just as recognizable as characters like bugs bunny or micky mouse. But unlike characters like micky mouse or bugs bunny, spiderman as a symbol is a lot more divorced from his source material. Basically anyone you ask has probably seen a loony tunes cartoon, but the amount of people who’ve read a spiderman comic or seen one of the cartoons is much much smaller in comparison

Which isn’t really an issue on its own. Ppl know what spiderman stands for in an abstract way from pop-culture, even if they’ve never necessarily seen it first hand. But there’s a big difference in being told a character stands for something and seeing/feeling it in a peice if media

But when a massively popular movie franchise completely fucking misinterprets that character and establishes itself as the definitive version? Well shit! Now everyone is told he’s a hero because it’s the right thing to do, but instead what they see is a hero fanboy. And that’s really damaging when the most popular version of a character completely undercuts it’s legacy

*for clarification, the issue is not that he is in awe of tony or looks up to him. The issue is that his primary motivation is to be cool and impressive like tony- slash like straight up impress him in the first place, instead of his motivation being doing the right thing. Peter Parker was never a hero to be cool. He was a hero bc it was the right thing to do. He was serious about it, even if he joked around he knew how dangerous it was. He was confident in his own moral code, was a leader who actively searched out things to fix. and the idea that he’d look to someone else for directions? Or let himself be limited by someone else? Is insulting.

Oof. That ended up a lot more aggressive than I intended. I don’t wanna make people feel bad for enjoying MCU spiderman. Like I really, really get it guys. The relationship between him and tony stark is really cute, and Tom Holland plays the best teenage Peter Parker in film history. You’re allowed to like it!! I’m actually really happy that y’all have found smthn you can truly enjoy

I’d just like to bring some attention to how this portrayal of the character isn’t the most faithful to the heart of the character. Which is ultimately much more important than anything else about a character, even things like their name or how they look. The heart is the most important part of them

I don’t think these movies are going to completely destroy the legacy of spiderman, or that they’re actively malicious. But I do think the way they misinterpret the character is damaging, at least in the long stretch of time until a new version takes it’s place.

I just don’t want these movies to give people an incorrect idea of what Spider-Man stands for. And I don’t want these traits that belong to other characters to be attributed to the wrong person. Like, y’all know they basically had to cut out Miles’s best freind Ganke from spiderverse bc he was too much like Ned? Even though Ned is literally based on Ganke, who’s role in spiderverse was cut down so much he literally doesn’t talk

ANYWAY. Y’all can like what you like and I’m legitimately glad u found smthn that makes u happy. I’m not gonna go get mad at ppl for writing a fic where Tony adopts Peter or enjoying the MCU movies. That would be a total dick move. But if u could please just.... share this if u don’t completely h8 me, and try to remember Peter’s true motivation is that he just wants to help ppl bc it’s the right thing to do. It would really mean a lot to me, and help preserve the inherently Jewish themes of the character’s and author’s legacy.
